Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Mascara

Max Factor, you are cruel. You've broken my heart! After years of faithful attention and loyal repurchases, you have discontinued serving the US. Without you my lashes droop. They are anemic. They are wimpy. Gone are the days when you embraced them with your wonderfully rich fibers, when you held them uplifted and curled in the deepest, most glamorous velvety black. Leave me, forget me! I know you've moved on to your market in Asia. Just know that there no one loves your curled brush or appreciates your Rich Black pigment the way I did. If I had the means I would go to you in Shanghai for an intimate rendez-vous and stock up on your superior eye makeup. But this isn't practical. I expected more from you. Don't expect me to write again, Max Factor--It's over!

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Amazemint - Everything's Rosy
rated 5 of 5

What a gem! Smells luscious, tastes even better. The formula glides on unbelievably well and leaves a glowing pinky hue. It is moisturizing and has nice staying power. After the gloss wears away, I'm still left with a feminine shimmer.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Benetint

I actually have never purchased this product, but I thought I may offer some advice for application based on the minimal experience I've had with it. BEFORE you put on foundation, try tracing two light stripes from the apple of the cheek toward the temple. Blend lightly with your fingers in a gentle, circular motion. Apply foundation afterward (you can achieve a "glowing from within" look) to avoid wiping it all off. If you're worried about covering it up, use a damp sponge for your foundation and lightly dab over the cheeks. And it does dry fast and stays for about 16 hours so make sure you like way it looks. Don't give up right away--it can impart very pretty results that last. Good luck!

Polishes -China Glaze - Nail polish

I LOVE Audrey Hepburn. I LOVE unique colors. I ADORE this product. It gorgeous, glamorous, fun, and captures the follies of youth in a graceful manner, akin to Breakfast At Tiffany's (it's name reference). It's a cream formula with an uber-glossy finish. The color is an opaque true robin's egg blue. I can't comment on the price as I received it as a gift. I can say that this little gem was really difficult to track down because it was from a special collection some years past. My friend found it for me while she was out of town. Great opaque consistency. I recommend two smooth, thin coats. Try getting rid of excess in the inner rim of the bottle before you apply. It dries quickly, so paint efficiently. Lasting power is great when combined with a thin top coat. NOTE: If you plan to travel with this, double bag it. I secured it in a ziploc bag and shoved it in my suitcase and it managed to open itself and leak everywhere. Hence, it loses a lippie, otherwise it would be pratically perrrfect.

Eyeliner -Jane - Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner

No, no, no. Where's Jane? Seriously. This is so unlike you. Where are you with your cheap, quality cosmetics? What is this impostor of a Jane eyeliner? Pigmentation leaves me yearning for, well, something. Even after steadfastly trying to break through the firm top coat of the eyeliner in the pot packaging, pigmentation was hit and miss. You also promised me lasting color, but alas--there was creasing after one evening of wear! Jane. Listen to me. I still have faith in you, but this eyeliner was a true disappointment. This is one product I can see why ended up with Walgreen's bright orange clearance sticker... Maybe I got a defective product?

Lipstick -MAC - Cream Lipstick in Dubonnet

I heart this lipstick! It is incredibly glam on my warm (albeit pale) complexion. I have lots o' freckles and warm brown hair, so I suppose I generally have a naturally "cutesy" look, but this lipstick definitely delivers an oomph factor and instantly turns me into a femme fatale. This absolutely must be worn with a lipliner. I'm only 18 and it still tends to feather a bit. It's a gorgeous, rich color best worn in the fall or winter. UPDATE (Aug. 2010) Still my fav lipstick. On a day when I want naturally rosy lips I dab a bit on with my finger for a very pretty stain. Also, I'm too lazy to wear liner usually now, but for some reason it seems to have excellent staying power.

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Soothing Lip Gloss in Pink Lemonade
rated 2 of 5
londara 8/3/2007 4:31:00 PM

Packaging is cute and portable, I enjoy the tingly sensation of the formula, and the price is unbeatable at $1. Other then that, the color was too frosty for my liking and I assumed that because the lip gloss is called "soothing" that it would have some moisturizing properties. On the contrary, it made my lips peely and picked up flakes in unattractive chunks. Check out the Hypershine ELF glosses instead--they definitely deliver!

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Hypershine Gloss - Candy Apple
rated 5 of 5
londara 8/3/2007 4:26:00 PM

I purchased this gloss in Candy Apple for a whopping quarter. And it's fabulous! It is pretty, long-lasting, and shiny. The click-style applicator with brush tip makes precision more possible than the average doe-foot wand or squeeze tube. The smell is not offensive and the gloss is non-drying. Quite pretty for the price!

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Eye Shimmers
rated 4 of 5
londara 7/14/2007 10:36:00 PM

Gorgeous (and plentiful!) color selection. Shades are richer than most and are versatile in application ranging from sheer to true-to-pot to intense. Unfortunately for me, I have lids that tend to crease my shadow in a less than satisfactory time frame, but I don't necessarily blame it on the shadow because it lasted a bit longer than most (alas--until I found a crease-less shadow I cannot give full marks). Price is steep for the quantity, but the shades are irresistable so I'll deal with it. Packaging is mediocre--it's plastic and feels kind of cheap/flimsy, but comes in a good travel size. I have this in Spearmint which is a creme-de-menthe with an iridescent shimmer finish and Damson, a lovely rich, slightly smoky violet.

Polishes -OPI - Chocolate Shake-Speare
rated 3 of 5
londara 5/12/2007 1:50:00 AM

I love the name. If there was a category for product names I would give this a 5+. The color (I agree!) looks very much like a chocolate frosty from Wendy's. Yummy..., but it just doesn't do it for me. It's kind of blase on my skin. Wear time is average--less than a week even with a professional manicure. Overall a very "meh" product.

Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish Nail Polish (any color)
rated 5 of 5
londara 5/12/2007 1:47:00 AM

Got this in Go-Go-Green. Marvelous. The color (lime green with gold shimmer) really packs a punch and looks gorgeous on my warm fair skin. I love funky colors, and my boyfriend heartily approved. To get full coverage it needs 2-3 coats, so instead of taking 60 seconds to dry it really takes triple that, but that's alright. The color is fabulous and I can see this becoming a staple for me.

Mascara -Jane - Hi-Fiber Waterproof in "Basic Black"
rated 5 of 5
londara 5/12/2007 1:45:00 AM

This stuff is incredible. Set me back a whopping $1.74 and delivered long, beautiful, separated, feathery lashes. Usually I get the greatly desired mascara smudgies under my eyes that make me look old and tired (*scoff!*), but this cheapie mascara surprisingly stays in place rather well. Three cheers for this product!

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Accentuating Color in Enchanted Bronze
rated 4 of 5
londara 5/12/2007 1:41:00 AM

Talk about silky smooth! I've never stumbled across such a pigmented, even eye shadow before. My eyelids are rather oily, so I can never expect eyeshadow to stay in place for too long, but this does a decent job in that department. One swipe of this from lash lines to overcrease gives the appearance that the entire face is aglow and gorgeously warm and tan. And the gold shimmer truly makes this product enchanted! The packaging is cute and pops open with a mirror like a mini compact. Applicator is even alright. The only thing that would prevent me from buying is the price. Oy vay. I'm but a poor student and only splurged for Prom, but it's quite nice anyhow.
