Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Indigo Wild - Dragon's blood zum rub
lolita_terrorist 3/22/2011 2:02:00 PM
The Dragon's blood zum rub is a moisturizing treatment for dry skin that comes in a 2.5oz tin. The consistency is similar to Vicks vapor rub or badger balms, it goes on greasy, but absorbs so well and leaves my skin very soft. Better than badger balms in my opinion. I also think it's great to use anywhere on the body. I used it on my face after a strange rash broke out on my cheeks and after 2 days using this, the dry itchy skin is all gone and it didn't cause my skin to break out at all. I would suggest using it at night before bed because the consistency of this product can be pretty gross. The Ingredients are: Dragon's blood infused organic sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, beeswax (natural, not refined or bleached), carnuba wax, organic shea butter, pure essential oils, and vitamin E because of the essential oils it has a nice herby lavender scent. My only issue with it might be the price...$9.99 for the size of the tin is a lot if you intend to use this everywhere like I do. Despite that I will buy again because it's a great multi-purpose moisturizer,

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
lolita_terrorist 3/1/2011 4:32:00 PM
I did NOT think I would like this. I didn't like the idea of a concealer in a jar, I didn't like the idea of only 3 shades, and I didn't like the idea of petrolatum in a concealer. I have never used a cream concealer before and was perfectly content with liquid concealers. Oh boy, I was really missing out. First off, I found that applying it as instructed on the information sheet didn't work so well, but I found that patting it on with my ring finger worked wonderfully. I also think it's pretty useless without a setting powder- it just looks a bit shiny and greasy (probably thanks to the petrolatum and lanolin ingredients) on the face, but with a little powder over- it looks flawless.

Bath Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Indigo Wild: Zum Tub
lolita_terrorist 1/6/2011 3:48:00 PM
The Zum Tub's usually come in cute 12 oz shakers with resealable refill bags on the Indigo Wild website. A little goes a long way with these bath salts since there is such a high concentration of essential oils. I find that just a little is enough to scent my whole bathroom. The ingredients are as follows: Natural sea salt crystals, dendritic salt, pure essential oils, shea butter and meadowfoam seed oil extract and rosemary extract. They contain shea butter but I don't find them particularly moisturizing- they're actually a bit drying, and might be best used as an aromatherapeutic pick me up only. If you decide to try these I HIGHLY recommend you get the Jujucuzzi set! Not only is it an assortment of resealable bath salts (and they last FOREVER!) in a set, they also have a "recipe card" you can use to mix scents and make the perfect bath. It's a lot of fun! I bought the Holiday Jujucuzzi set which includes Rosemary. Frankincense and Myrrh, Peppermint, Clove, Sweet Orange, and Fir Needle. They all smell amazing alone, but my favorite mix is called "O' Christmas Glee" and is 1 scoop fir needle + frankincense + clove. It smells beyond heavenly and I wish they had the holiday set available year round cause I'd bathe in it everyday if I could.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - indigo wild zum bar almond
lolita_terrorist 1/6/2011 3:34:00 PM
Probably the best of all the zum bars in my opinion. It smells amazing, like sweet almonds and it doesn't dry out my skin. Anytime I use zum bars I don't need to slather on a moisturizer afterwards and I enjoy that.

Skincare - Body -Kiss My Face - Lavender and Shea Butter Ultra Moisturizer
lolita_terrorist 1/5/2011 12:40:00 PM
This moisturizer has an incredible smell in the bottle that doesn't quite transfer to skin- on my skin it smells like a very sour mix of flowers and baby powder. It's very important to try this before buying so you can check how the scent works on your skin. I do think the "ultra moisturizing" is a bit of an exaggeration because it feels lighter than the olive and aloe moisturizer to me. If anything it's a light moisturizer and would probably be a great everyday moisturizer- the scent isn't horribly strong and fades pretty quickly which could be a good thing or a bad thing- in my case it's a good thing, but I probably won't use the rest of this lotion anyway.

Fragrances -Pacifica - Blood Orange Solid Perfume
lolita_terrorist 10/21/2010 6:13:00 AM
I love this perfume, the smell is a lovely citrus with a hint of tangy raspberries. Others have said that this scent doesn't last and that's true- after one hour the scent disappears. So if you don't like re-applying then this isn't the perfume for you, but keep in mind there is a lot of product and even with everyday use it will easily last 6 months and for $6 that is a bargain. I work as a teacher, and you can't use strong chemically scented perfumes around children, but this scent smells just like 100% fruit, so all my kids seem to really love it. The fact that it is portable is great since I can just apply a little bit before class and I'm set! Ideally, if they could find a way to make this scent last a little longer that would be wonderful, but the smell is so intoxicatingly nice I can forgive that. Sometimes I just open up the tin and smell it for a quick pick me up. It's like aromatherapy almost. EDIT: I found that if left in a warm place or in direct sunlight the scent can change a bit so be really careful about keeping it in a nice cool place.

Sunscreen -Lavanila - The Healthy Suncreen SPF 40 Face Cream
lolita_terrorist 8/20/2010 9:16:00 AM
I'm surprised at the bad reviews this has gotten! This is my HG morning moisturizer. I love that although it is a natural sunscreen with Zinc Oxide the formula is not thick and does not leave white streaks, make-up also applies over it very well (Thank you Hyaluoronic acid!). It doesn't irritate my skin or cause pimples either so to each their own I guess. I find that it actually heals my face and lessens the redness of my sensitive easily irritable skin. I pray Lavanila never quits making this- it's the best facial sunscreen I have ever used.

Liquid -Korres - Ginger and Vitamins Foundation, SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
lolita_terrorist 5/12/2010 11:00:00 PM
This is my number 1 favorite everyday foundation, but I suppose calling it a "foundation" may be a bit misleading. It's more like a tinted moisturizer with light coverage. Usually I'd hate the light coverage, but what I love about this is it does wonders to even out my skin tone while still looking natural- and as somebody suffering from mild splotchy rosacea, that is a god-send. I've also found that the coverage is buildable and putting a tad bit more on my cheeks can hide redness. The only negative things I can think of is the color palette that most Korres foundations come in- they are a bit yellow on tint, but I've found that the lightest color blends fairly well on my ghastly pale skin and it's no darker than Josie Maran or Boscia's TMs and probably the best natural TM I've found (Tarte is also a good natural brand with nice TMs if you feel Korres is too yellow for you). Other than that this TMs staying power is not so strong, but this is something easily fixed with a setting powder (Korres powders are excellent, but too dark for me so I use Tarte). Overall this is great for everyday wear- girls who want to wear make-up without looking "made up" and want something less chemically to use for most days.

Moisturizers -Aubrey Organics - Blue-Green Algae
lolita_terrorist 4/6/2010 6:51:00 PM
I'm on the fence about this moisturizer...on one hand it works great, a little goes a long way and it moisturizes my combination skin well without making me an oily mess which is fantastic. The only problem is that smell! It's really strong and likely to cause headaches in those sensitive to certain scents and unlike another reviewer I didn't notice the smell going away all that quickly- I DID get used to it until my boyfriend confronted me about the stink. It's a great moisturizer but I would much prefer an ok moisturizer with less of a scent, even if the scent doesn't bother you- it's likely to bother those around you. I'm returning this.

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Acai Berry & Magnolia Hydrating Body Lotion
lolita_terrorist 7/23/2009 9:05:00 PM
In general I have always been a fan of any bath and beauty products that Victoria Secret releases. When I first heard about this Natural line it sounded a bit boring and unappealing at first, but after giving it a try I've really come to like it. As others have pointed out, it's not as fragranced as say the Beauty Rush or Pink lines, but it does leave a very faint fruity floral fragrance that lasts a while. What I like about this moisturizer is it's nice for everyday use (and while I love the Secret Garden collection I don't know if I could stand using something like Love Spell everyday, for me the heavily fragranced lotions are saved for special dates.) and because it contains more natural ingredients you can feel good about putting it on your skin. As a light moisturizer it works well, but I would advise those with dry skin to try something else.

Mascara -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Mascara - Violight
lolita_terrorist 3/10/2009 12:55:00 PM
I bought this in black to replace diorshow (which flaked really badly) after reading the positive reviews here. It's not very dramatic and sometimes takes up to 3 and even 4 sweeps to get a noticeable difference. That may be considered a con but there was absolutely no clumping or smudging at all which is pretty amazing for a mascara. It lengthens really well, but does not thicken much which is fine by me, mind you I bought this for more of a natural look to wear to work or on casual dates. I would love to buy the other colors to try out. Overall this is one of my favorite mascaras now. took off one lippie because of the amount of times I had to apply it.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
lolita_terrorist 3/10/2009 12:32:00 PM
For some people it works and for some it just doesn't. I bought this product because a friend of mine used it and her lashes looked amazing yet natural (this is not a dramatic mascara by the way). When I first used it I applied just one swipe to the upper lash only and 2 hours later I saw that I had little black flakes all under my eyes. I had never ever experienced this with the mascaras I normally use (Maybelline sky high curves and clinique high impact) so I was surprised, especially considering how expensive it was. For a brand like Dior I expected superior quality and less smudge. I immediately returned it the next day for a refund. Worst mascara I have ever used.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Dancing Waters
lolita_terrorist 7/20/2008 12:14:00 AM
This smelled like a clean shower fresh scent upon first application but as it dies down after 30 minutes or so the icy spearmint scent is the only thing left and it doesn't smell refreshing or minty at all. As a matter of fact it smells exactly like a wet dog or some other form of BO.

Treatments (Eye) -ModelCo - lash + brow growth stimulator
lolita_terrorist 7/18/2008 2:02:00 AM
I had originally bought this for my lashes, however when I read earlier reviews of how well it worked on eyebrows I decided to give it a try as I had scarring around the end area of my left brow . Well, considering it was a scar my expectations may have been too high, but I can say I have seen results in other areas of my brows where the hair was thinner. So yes, the product does work, just give it a week or so. Since I've only been using the product for that long it's possible that it could help hair grow over bald patches from scarring, but I'll have to wait another week or two to give an update on that. As for lashes, I would use this as a nighttime treatment only. The product didn't sting my eyes, but after an hour or so of applying it I washed my face, forgetting completely about the lash conditioner and for 20 minutes or so had slightly irritated eyes. But as long as one is careful and keeps it out of the eyes it works ok. You won't get thicker lashes, but it will strengthen them to help them grow longer. I have another lash conditioner from dermitage that I prefer to use, but I will sometimes rotate as this works pretty well too (and is much less expensive) My only issue was the wand, I felt that applying it to the eyebrows was difficult and took some getting used to- especially if you're trying to apply it to certain small areas and you end up getting a big glob of it on your brows. (which isn't too much of a problem, but keep in mind the product works, so too many accidental slip ups and you'll get catarpillar brows) The only reason I would not purchase again is because just one is enough. Overall a good product that does work.

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Kiss and Tell
lolita_terrorist 7/9/2008 3:24:00 PM
As a gloss they work ok. I bought the blue one "Destiny" after reading an early reviewer say it made her pink lips a slight peach tint. This sounded good to me so I bought it for myself. Upon application I looked like I had zombie lips. They were seriously a nude lilac color. Not as appealing as I had hoped. My biggest problem was with the magic 8 ball type lid. No matter how much I would shake it, it sometimes took 3 or even 4 tries to get a clear cut answer. Wasn't that the whole point of buying these? For the fun little magic 8 ball? I considered buying another shade, but if the magic 8 ball doesn't even work well why bother?
