Conditioner -LUSH - R&B Revive & Balance Hair Moisturizer
lizxphile 2/18/2012 10:35:00 PM
Got a sample of this last time I was in Lush.. I've been rubbing a TEENY bit on my fingers to run over the surface of my hair to calm flyaways after blowdrying, and I rub some into the ends to make them soft & shiny. A little of this stuff seriously goes a loooong way. I like how it tames my hair after drying it without making it all dried up looking - as long as I use it sparingly my hair looks and feels great all day! The scent is pretty strong but I don't mind it. I am not sure I'd buy the full tub as it's pretty pricey, I've been using the sample for a few weeks now & still have some left.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed mattifying moisture lotion SPF 15
lizxphile 1/19/2012 2:49:00 PM
Took the plunge & bought this to try since I like the other Seaweed items from TBS. I don't particularly dislike this, but I don't love it. It does not mattify, and it feels moderately greasy to me, although not necessarily greasier than other SPF moisturizers. It didn't break me out but my face was pretty oily by the end of a day using this. I did also have to learn to not put so much on - once I adjusted how much I used it wasn't as bad... I will probably finish this tube but not sure I'll purchase again.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
lizxphile 1/19/2012 2:44:00 PM
I got a small sample of this and liked it enough to buy the bigger tub... I liked using this best on days in the summer when it was extremely hot & humid, when normally I wouldn't have even put moisturizer on my face at all because the humidity makes my skin so oily. When it goes on (a little goes a long way), it kind of feels dry and tight after it absorbs in, but after 15-20 mins & going out in the humidity, my face felt fine. Super, super light moisturizer, smells good and didn't break me out. Not really 100% sure I'll buy again but it was very good for me for some days in the summer.

Moisturizers -Earth Science - Almond-Aloe Moisturizer
lizxphile 1/19/2012 2:32:00 PM
Have been using this as my mostly-daily moisturizer for about a year now and I really like it! Was looking for something with slightly more natural ingredients that wasn't too heavy since my skin can get oily, and this stuff is great. I got the unscented even though fragrance doesn't bother me, and it's pretty light, absorbs quickly, and you don't need to use too much of it. Most importantly it doesn't break me out! My face is not an oil slick by the end of the day after using this, which is great. I will say however, this lotion was too heavy to use in the summer humidity, when my face turns into a complete oil slick. Otherwise it's a good product & I'll probably repurchase when I run out.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Creme
lizxphile 1/19/2012 2:19:00 PM
Picked this up at Ulta to see if it would help my frizz/flyaway problem at all. My hair's really fine and pretty straight, I blowdry it in the mornings after washing it and I've been using heat tamer spray, which I think is starting to irritate my eyes. Decided to try this and it's been working really well - I rub some into my hands like lotion and smooth it/comb it into my damp hair, blowdry, and my hair behaves pretty well for the day and is soft, smooth and mostly flyaway-free! I haven't noticed it to weigh my hair down at all and I'm careful not to use too much. Good product I'll probably buy again.

Conditioner -LUSH - Veganese conditioner
lizxphile 1/19/2012 12:56:00 PM
New HG conditioner... my hair is fine & gets greasy/weighed down easily if I use the wrong or too much product in it, and although this doesn't make my hair as soft as other conditioners, it's so light that my hair feels better for longer after using it. I absolutely love it, smells yummy too! I took a lippie off because it's super expensive, for me at least... although I'll keep buying it and just using it as sparingly as I can!

Scrubs -The Body Shop - Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator
lizxphile 1/19/2012 12:46:00 PM
I was a little surprised to see some negative reviews of this but of course not everyone's skin is the same. I bought this to try about 6 months ago and am hooked - love it! My skin is combination with dryness in the winter and super oiliness in the humidity in summer if I don't use the right product, and my skin loves this scrub! It's just scrubby enough without being too abrasive (I tried TBS's Green Tea scrub and it was too much...) and my face has been very happy since I started using this (I use it every other day); pores have improved a bit, not as many breakouts. I am pretty cheap so I don't like the price but I will definitely pay it for this. I've been pretty happy so far with all the items in the Seaweed line I have tried.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Orglamix - Eye Shadow
lizxphile 5/9/2010 10:35:00 PM
I can't believe there are no reviews for this brand yet! Orglamix (http://www.etsy.com/shop/orglamix) is an Etsy-only mineral makeup company. They sell natural mineral eye shadows, blush, and foundation, although all I have tried from them so far are the eye shadows. My first colors were Hot Chocolate, a beautiful medium brown, and Sticky Toffee, a nice pink. I LOVE THEM! They go on evenly & smoothly, are wonderfully blendable, and are shimmery enough for me, but not *too* shimmery. I've worn them together and with other shadows I use, and for days when I don't feel like doing a lot of makeup, I can put a nice light wash on my lids of either color & it looks great. I've just purchased 3 new colors and cannot wait to try them out! And, it's only $4.99 per shadow, which is a great price for me. Shipping is cheap - a few bucks for the first, then less for each additional shadow I think. Absolutely worth checking out if you're interested in quality, natural mineral makeup!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Therapy massage bar
lizxphile 5/9/2010 10:25:00 PM
Got this as part of my first LUSH purchase. I really like this bar - I love the smell (cocoa/lavender) and it's deliciously moisturizing. The only reason I marked 'no' when asked if I'd buy it again is because it basically does the same thing as the cocoa butter lotion I use. It smells a bit nicer and feels a little more moisturizing than the lotion, but, I'm not sure if I would buy the bar again since the lotion does the same thing. On the issue of stretch marks - in general, when used over time, cocoa butter products have made my stretch marks less noticable, and this bar didn't perform better or worse than other cocoa butter products I've used. So, overall, good product and works as intended for me, but I am not sure I'd purchase again since I have other products that do the same thing.

Scrubs -LUSH - Buffy the Backside Slayer
lizxphile 5/9/2010 10:18:00 PM
I discovered LUSH at my local mall a few months ago, and to start, bought this & one of the massage bars. I LOVE the buffy bar! I have extremely dry, flaky skin on my hips during the winter, and when I use the buffy before I get out of the shower, I'm nice & smooth and moisturized, no lotion necessary! I use it on my hips, arms & legs. I noticed a few reviewers state it left their skin greasy and didn't rinse off fully - while you're in the shower, it *feels* like it isn't rinsing off, then when you get out of the shower & towel off, you just feel perfectly moisturized, not greasy. (Well, that's how I feel at least, lol). I bought the small one, used it all up & bought another. My only complaint is that I left it (in a tin) in my hot car for a 6 hour drive home last weekend, and the bar completely melted into liquid :( I was SO SAD to discover it that night when I got home & wanted to take a nice shower. Buy the tin for a few bucks to store it in so it doesn't get disolve-y on the edge of the tub; it isn't sold in a package. And remember, don't leave it in the heat for very long! (it was probably 80-85 and humid that day) Overall - love this & will be buying more!

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Olive Butter Formula
lizxphile 3/2/2010 1:10:00 PM
My sister in law's brother in law is some kind of exec at Palmer's, and she had tons of bottles of this lotion last time we visited. She noticed I kept going back for more from the bottle she had at the sink, so she gave me a bottle, & said she didn't particularly love it. I really like it! I've liked all the Palmer's cocoa butter products I'd tried but I had never seen this olive butter lotion before. I like the smell and it moisturizes pretty well - for how thick it comes out of the bottle it absorbs really well. Does not contain lanolin (which I am purportedly allergic to although I've been having doubts - could be my mother's propaganda! lol) and it contains certified organic olive oil. Olive oil is good for your body inside and out and can be used in lots of skin and body care applications. My skin has really liked this lotion so far, and when I run out I will buy more if I can find it.

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Tint No. 1641 Magenta Mint
lizxphile 3/1/2010 7:29:00 PM
This is one of many of the C.O. Bigelow lip glosses I've tried, and I've loved them all! This one has just enough mint (2% peppermint oil) to tingle a little, and just a little bit of color to shine my lips up. It isn't sticky to me either. I will keep buying these glosses for sure.

Polishes -Zoya - Ki
lizxphile 2/27/2010 5:43:00 PM
This was one of a few Zoya polishes I ordered as an introduction to the brand. LOVE this color! I haven't been able to stop looking at my nails since I put it on. In most light and from many angles, it looks like a nice shimmery purple. Then you tilt your hand a different way, and it's a brilliant jungle green. In some light it also looks taupe. It is just delicious. This is seemingly staying on a little better than the first Zoya polish I tried, I applied a baescoat first, two coats of polish, and a topcoat and it still looks decent 2 days later. Highly recommended color!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cranberry eye shadow
lizxphile 2/23/2010 5:25:00 PM
At first I was torn on this color when I bought it, but it grew on me. I was worried it was a bit too dark for what I usually wear... however when applied correctly with a good matching color, it looks pretty good. I wear it with MAC's All That Glitters and Teddy kohl liner, and that makes for a really nice look on my light brown/hazely eyes. I did drop it a while back & break the shadow, and now it's kind of powdered.. have to be careful how I apply so I don't get too much on the brush.

Eye Shadow -MAC - All That Glitters
lizxphile 2/23/2010 5:13:00 PM
This was one of the first MAC shadows I ever bought, and I've been very happy with it. I wear it with browns & reds, even purple and it looks great... and worn alone, it gives my eyes a bit of color & a little shimmer and lasts almost all day. Great staple color for me!
