Highlighters -NARS - Highlighting Blush Powder in Albatross
lizchewy 6/23/2010 6:38:00 PM
Albatross is a gold toned white highlighter packaged in the signature NARS rubber casing which gets filthy so easily!! I initially used this on the top of my cheekbones and as a brow highlight, but felt a bit meh about it. It was good as the shimmer isn't disco ball chunky glitter, but it emphasised my pores. However last week whilst playing around with make up I applied this BEFORE my blush to my cheek area and then applied my blush on top - WOW!!! My cheeks had a beautiful lit from within glow which was very subtle and didn't emphasise my pores. It has gone from being a product which languished unloved in my make up stash to a permanent addition to my everyday make up bag! If I ever run out I will happily repurchase. For reference I am a cool toned PPP(paler than MAC NW15)

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Concealer Kit
lizchewy 6/23/2010 6:25:00 PM
I recently purchased the kit in porcelain to match my cool toned PPP skin. I had been using Laura Mercier secret concealer in 01, and whilst the peach base was great for cancelling out dark undereye shadows it was too orange for any blemishes on my face ( I am paler than MAC NW15). However the BB kit is perfect for both! The kit consists of a highly pigmented cream concealer in the top of the product and a very finely milled loose powder in the bottom. The kit also comes supplied with a mini powder puff to apply the powder. To use I apply some eye moisturiser to my under eye area and then I dab the tiniest amount of concealer and blend well with my ring finger. I set it using the powder in the kit with a #2 Stilla undereye brush. The supplied puff is too large for use and unhygenic as there is nowhere to store it in the kit. I did try using a concealer brush to applythe cream but found this used too much product which settled into my fine lines. A light touch is essential, but as it is so pigmented a little goes a long way. Some reviewers have complained about the design of the kit as the powder can spill everwhere. To counteract this I simply punctured a couple of small holes in the plastic seal using a sterilised pin. I have to give the base of the product a good tap to get enough powder out to use, BUT, the powder doesn't go everywhere when I open the lid!! I also do the same on my mineral foundations and finishing powders. The concealer is a great colour match for the rest of my face and I used it to cover redness post waxing without any tell tale orange! It lasts throughout the day and is easy to remove with Mac cleanse off oil. I recommend this kit in the shade porcelain if you have trouble finding a concealer pale enough to match snow white skin!

Cleansers -MAC - Cleanse Off Oil
lizchewy 1/6/2010 1:20:00 PM
150ml of product in a clear plastic bottle with lockable pump dispenser, lightly fragranced but not unpleasant. This is my 1st foray into cleansing oils and I have to say I am impressed. It helps remove every last scrap of eyemake up including waterproof mascara, Bobbi brown gel liners and urban decay 24/7 liners. I apply 1 - 2 pumps into dry hands and massage onto my dry skin. At this point you do look like a big hot mess, BUT add water and the oil turns to a milky lotion which can be rinsed off with water. I feel a slight residue after use, so I tone afterwards. It doesn't leave a greasy film on the eyes either. I have also used it neat on a dry cotton pad when my eyemake up is particularly heavy, before continuing as above. The only downside is that it isn't that easy to travel with, so I only use it at home.

Blush -MAC - Hocus pocus colourful face kit
lizchewy 1/6/2010 1:09:00 PM
from the MAC website: An exclusive holiday compact featuring three key products for the face: Pretty Baby Beauty Powder, Peachykeen Sheertone Shimmer Blush and Sunsparked Pearl Beauty Powder in a sleek, square silvery-pewter compact decorated with a whimsical pattern of coloured dots on the lid, each one representing a shade from the compact’s palette. Limited edition. The pretty baby beauty powder is a pale pink/peach matte powder which I use to give subtle colour to my face.( I'm a PPP, MAC NW10 for reference. ) The peachykeen shimmer blush isn't something I would have readily picked up at my local counter, but I have to say I am surprised. It gives a beautiful lit from within glow to my cheeks without looking too shimmery, and the colour is warm peachy pink. Once you get beyond 40 shimmer can be a very bad thing! The sunsparked pearl can be used to give a highlight to the cheekbone or browbone without looking like I'm heading off out to party. The compact itself is very robust and contains a mirror in the lid. I would definetly purchase the pretty baby and peachykeen again. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish the sunsparked though, so I wouldn't buy the compact again

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #219 Pencil Brush
lizchewy 7/18/2009 7:04:00 PM
Until I bought the repromoted 226 the 219 was my favourite MAC brush. I would use it to lay down colour in the crease and outer V before using a soft fluffy brush to blend it the colours out. Now I use it to lay more colour in the crease and outer V if I want to exaggerate the depth of colour.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 226 Small Tapered Blending Brush - BBR Collection
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:57:00 PM
Bought this on the repromote in Colour craft, I understand what all the hype was about! I can pick up colour on the tip of the brush to apply precisely into my crease amd then blend it downwards and outwards. Only wish I'd bought 2!

Great product for oily skin. Apply this and your skin will feel like velvet!! I use this under MMU and on it's own. It diminishes the shiny look, pores a fine lines! A winner!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Blanc Type - Matte2
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:42:00 PM
A creamy matte white/beige. Great for use as a brow highlight on my PPP skin, or as a lid clolour with either copperplate or fig in the crease. Matches my skintone perfectly, doesn't show up as chalky.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Seedy Pearl Eyeshadow
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:38:00 PM
I wasn't impressed with this at first, when swatched on the back of my hand it looked great, BUT on my lids it didn't really show up. I have found a use for it though!! I appy matte shadows on the lid and crease e.g. blanc type and fig or copperplate and then use this a subtle wash over everything to help blend the lid and crease colours. The pink/purple duochrome really shows up when I use it like this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Vex
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:21:00 PM
A great greyish/greenish/ pink shadow??? I use this as a go to shadow when I'm unsure where to go! Use it as as lid colour up into the crease with copperplate blended into the crease. Works great as a subtle wash where you see more of the pink duochrome. When laid down more more heavily it loses the duochrome:( It is a very soft shadow which swipes easily onto my e/s brush, BUT no fallout! Yay!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Yogurt Eyeshadow
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:13:00 PM
Bought this a while ago but wasn't sure how I would use it. However, recent purchases of copperplate and fig have led me to uses for this matte shadow. It is a pink based matte shadow which doesn't make me look like I have an eye infection! I use it as an all over colour with either copperplate or fig 1 SERIOUSLY blended in the outer V and crease . Love it!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Copperplate

A matte neutral greyish /brown shadow. I use it with Vex to create a very wearable neutral smokey eye. Very similiar to Prescriptives Taupe (long d/s)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Fig. 1
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:06:00 PM
A wonderful matte purple which I use on the outer V and crease. Very similiar in colur to MAC Nocturnelle ( which is a frosty duochrome). Use it with yoghurt or blanc type for a wearable smokey eye.

Eye Shadow -MAC - crystal avalanche
lizchewy 7/18/2009 6:03:00 PM
Great shimmery white shadow which I only ever use for highlighting the tear duct. BUT, way too shimmery/frosty to use as a brow highlighter on my more mature skin. Don't see me repurchasing as I use so little!

Cleansers -Aveda - Purifying Gel Cleanser
lizchewy 7/17/2009 9:13:00 AM
I have quite oily skin and was recommended to try this cleanser as I prefer to wash my face in the shower. I normally remove the majority of my make up with specific cleansers before I shower, bit like to feel super clean before applying any night treatments. I also use in the morning to wash off any oil my face has created during the night. I initially tried the travel size of 50 ml and was impressed with the results. It foams gently and leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight! One to 2 pumps is sufficient to clean my face and decollete. I don't use this specifically to remove my make up as I prefer not to pull at the skin on my face. I use and oil based cleanser to sweep the majority of my make up off, and this to remove the oily residue and any remaining make up. The only drawback this cleanser has is the packaging. It is packaged in a beautiful frosted green glass bottle, which I'm always scared will smash and fall in my tub!
