Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer

I bought this when I started to have these horrible breakouts on my cheekbones and was in desperate need of a concealer good enough to cover them up. I was recommended this concealer in a MAC store, and the MUA even applied this onto my spots. It seemed to work, so i bought one. Almost two years later and I've hit the bottom of the pan and am looking forward to get my second one. I don't wear makeup everyday and I always try to apply in moderation too, hence the two-year lifetime. Thankfully I don't deal with bad breakouts anymore, but this is my go-to concealer whenever a random spot comes up. I found that applying a few thin layers helps in making the concealer stay put, rather than applying it thickly in one go. I use a blending brush and patiently blend a small amount, then adding another thin layer on top, and so on if I needed it. Only about half a year ago did I discover that this could work under my eyes too, if applied thinly. I didn't initially use it for my undereye circles as reviewers kept saying it would look too cakey. But if I'm in a hurry and don't have time to apply a full-face makeup, I just pop this on my spots, under my eyes and set with powder, and I'm good to go. Be careful about applying it under the eyes though, because there were times when I was in too much of a hurry, applied way too much on my circles and by mid day, I would be horrified to see the cracks in between the cakey mess. I always make sure my undereye area is well moisturised before I apply this on top too. And to be honest, on my combination skin, this concealer doesn't cover my spots all day long, but I guess it lasts for a decent time and you could always carry this little pot with you in your handbag to reapply. Until I find a better concealer, I'm sticking to this one. I would suggest you use something to scoop it out - like a cotton bud - rather than sticking your finger into it, as it could get a little unsanitary. But then again I always seem to find myself in a hurry and not care about that. For reference, I'm NC43-44 and I use shade NW35. The shade isn't exactly spot-on, but I always blend the edges well, and it's hardly noticeable. At least I hope so!

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE volume and curl mascara (black)

This mascara definitely does what it promises to do. It volumizes my lashes and holds a curl very well (i almost never not use an eyelash curler before applying mascara). Some mascaras transfer to my bottom lashes (usually discovered when i don't apply them to my bottom lashes) and cause smudging around that area, but with this mascara, smudging is pretty non-existent. I gave it a high rating because, like i said, it delivers what it says it would do to your lashes. However i will not repurchase because this mascara is absolutely difficult to get rid of. I usually use a makeup remover with some cotton pads to remove my mascara and i would follow that with makeup-removing wipes. But this mascara proves to be quite stubborn, as i would end up with little smudges underneath my eyes for up to three days after i use it. I'm actually sad to say "No" when asked if i would buy this again, because this is such an amazing product to have on, but too much of a hassle to get off. I'm sure there are other great mascaras out there of about the same price that would give me the same result and would require less effort to remove them. I've never given Kiss Me much thought prior to buying this, though, but now i'm definitely looking forward to trying out their other products.

Mascara -Maybelline - Pulse Perfection™ by Define-A-Lash® Vibrating Mascara ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
liyanaaris 1/18/2012 12:36:00 PM
This is still in my Top 5 Mascaras list up till now. The fact that it has been discontinued doesn't change that. This mascara separates my lashes really well and visibly lengthens them. The vibrating motion does give me a weird, ticklish feeling but compared to the end result, it's nothing to complain about. The trick (for me at least) is to start at the roots of the lashes and slowly move the wand upwards towards the ends without any zigzagging motion. Wiggling the wand usually cause clumping, so i would steer clear from doing that. I am sad that Maybelline stopped producing this mascara, but for now i am comforted by the fact that i still have two unopened boxes of them. Hopefully Maybelline will come up with something similar soon.
