Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
rated 3 of 5

I have a love/hate relationship with this product... hence the middle of the road scores.

At first I LOVED it. Then, I thought it made my pores look BIGGER instead of SMALLER. Then someone told me to try applying the mineral veil before foundation-- that helped.

The coverage is nice, but I truly don't see how it would work on someone who needs serious coverage. It does impart a nice glow for a powder but can look too powdery if you're not careful.

I have dry/combo skin... which is especially dry in the winter, which is why I think this works so much better for me in the summer (which is when I bought it and now that it's summer again, I've returned to it some). It's nice and lightweight for summer (espcially in humid climates) but was too dry for me in the winter.

Plus, I'm a little too lazy/messy sometimes to deal with the whole loose powder process. I'll just be honest. ;^)

Tinted Moisturizer -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer - Natural
rated 4 of 5

The coverage is great for a tinted moisturizer and the tube is so easy to use without wasting product. I've tried Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Dermadoctor and others and this is the first TM that I'm happy I bought. AND, it's so cheap I could afford to be wrong if I didn't like it! Not only that, it's so cheap that I was able to buy two different colors and blend (easily) between my winter white and summer tan skin. I have olive skin w/a MAC rating of NC20 in the winter. The two colors I've used are Nude and Natural.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil
rated 4 of 5

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this product. I use it as a finishing powder nearly year-round, but for some reason continue to stray from it for one reason or another only to come back to it.

It imparts a great, "fresh" glow for being a powder. It works over any foundation, not just BE. As a matter of fact, I've all but stopped using BE foundation... though it is nice in the summer when everything else is sticky.

What I really have a problem with about this product is the packaging and how hard it is to take along for late-day touch-ups. I know they made the little on-the-go compact, but to be honest, that's almost more work than the little jar since you don't have the lid to "swirl" in. The compact, however, is nice to have sometimes, especially with the mirror.

I have rebought this product already and will continue to do so because it just can't be beat as a transulcent setting powder, but I wish it came in a loose powder brush or something a little easier to transport. Kudos to BE for the compact, though, and thinking in the right direction.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Flawless Skin Total Protection Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
liscris 6/28/2006 10:48:00 AM

This is an amazing product, an HG for me in the winter. It blends fabulously without a brush or anything, I just use my hands. I'm an NC20 in MAC standards and use Vellum in PX. It might be a smidge off for me. My next bottle I'm going to double check the color.

The coverage is "medium to full" but I think it feels light, not sticky, doesn't clog my pores and looks completely natural. Sometimes I top it off with Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil for a little extra glow.

My only concern is whether or not I'll be able to get ALL of the product out of that glass jar. At least the consistency allows it flow easily... something to watch out for when you first start using it so that you don't over-pour!

Blush -Pout - Pout Cheek to Cheek Cream Color in Coral Nymph and Bronze Siren
rated 3 of 5
liscris 6/28/2006 10:29:00 AM

This duo is very pretty and very blendable. Took a couple lippies off just because I think only HGs deserve 5s and one lippie off for not really knowing what to do w/the bronze side. I love the coral side, but the bronze side is just harder for me to use for some reason.

Now that it's summer I may try it again, but I fear I may be more of a powder girl than a cream blush girl. I'm an NC20 in the winter, with olive skin, so I tan really well in the summer.

Like I said, the colors are gorgeous, the package is pretty, though a little big for me. The amount of product you get for the price is amazing and a little bit goes a long way-- I just took a couple lippies off due to personal preferrences. hth!

Eye Shadow -NARS - All About Eve Duo
rated 5 of 5
liscris 6/28/2006 10:06:00 AM

Would I repurchase? I already have! After getting my original AAE stolen along with everything else in my purse, I quickly learned that I couldn't do without it and had to repurchase.

It doesn't look like much in the container, but the satiny side (left) is amazing for that everyday natural look and the shimmery side (right) is almost just glowy-- something you wouldn't expect to find in a powder! Add a little of the shimmery side to the inner corner of your eyes just makes your face light up.

I like to use this duo for 2 different "natural" looks right now in conjunction with a taupe or suede-ish color e/s (like SHU ME945-or the newer version of it, MAC Coco pigment or Satin Taupe e/s for taupes or MAC Saddle e/s or BE Faux Fox e/s for suede-y colors):

1) apply the satiny side all over from lash to brow. Apply the shimmery side in the inner corners of your eyes and on the browbone. Apply the taupe/suede color to the crease for definition and natural shadowing.

2) appy the taupe/suede color as a base all over lid. apply the satiny color to the browbone and the shimmery side to the inner corners, even dusted lightly over the lid to add dimension to the taupe/suede color.

Skincare - Body -Origins - Skindiver
rated 5 of 5
liscris 6/28/2006 9:57:00 AM

I used to get little bumps on my arms during the summer for some reason. A friend convinced me to try Skindiver and I don't think I'll go back to anything else!!

This wash is fresh, smells good and is keeping my sensitive, break-out-prone skin in serious check!

One of the greatest things is that a little goes a LONG way, so you may pay a little more for the bottle than you'd like, but it will last you quite a while. I've only used a quarter of a bottle in the past few months and that's probably only because I didn't realize how little I needed at first.

I'm also going to check out the Skindiver scrub for my less-than-eager-to-be-exfoliated legs. =)

Blush -LORAC - Blush/Bronzer in Hot Flash
rated 4 of 5
liscris 6/28/2006 9:49:00 AM

I have olive skin and have gotten so many compliments this summer when all I've been wearing is either Hot Flash or Hot & Spicy and some lipgloss.

These blush/bronzer duos are great and impart the most amazing glow (something you'd never think you could get from a powder). I took one lippie off for the learning curve since it's VERY pigmented-- but ever since I've been using my skunk brush I've had NO overload and no clown-faces. =)

I especially like that the two colors are side-by-side so that you can choose how much you want of each color.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Butterfield 8
rated 4 of 5
liscris 2/1/2006 11:54:00 AM

This is a MLBB gloss for me. Definitely gives me an English Rose-type look when I pair its rose-brown lipcolor with light pink cheeks. The downside, is of course, the pot. I hate sticking my finger in there to apply (especially since it doesn't apply well that way, any way)-- I really find I need a lip brush to apply this and kind of hate carrying that around, too. But, this lipcolor is beautiful enough to warrant carrying around a little lip brush, as well. =) Thanks to the thick, sticky texture, the color stays on and I don't even need that lip brush too many times during the day.

Lipstick -MAC - Sharp Beige - Deneuve Collection
rated 5 of 5
liscris 2/1/2006 11:50:00 AM

I LOVE this lipcolor. After hearing everyone talk about it being a "nude" color, I was determined to dislike it. But it really isn't a nude so much as a nuded-mauve on me. Someone described it as a mix of Hug Me and Midimauve & I think that's a great description. The lustre formula is sheer and moist/non-drying, allowing easy application with or without a mirror. I may need to buy a back-up of this before it's gone forever! The only downside I had in this purchase is that my MAC store had received a memo denying B2M priviledges for the Catherine Deneuve Collection, for reasons still unanswered.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Chromeglass in Technobeet
rated 4 of 5
liscris 2/1/2006 11:46:00 AM

This color was a sleeper pick for me. It's a wonderful plummed-red on me, though it sheers out a bit as it wears away. The texture is nice and smooth, but therefore means the l/g fades more quickly than sticker varieties. Be sure to wipe the wand before application so you don't end up with too much product-- I think this is the major downfall of the product, hence the lower score on packaging quality and overall rating. Hope that helps.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Chromeglass in Uberpeach
rated 4 of 5
liscris 2/1/2006 11:43:00 AM

Uberpeach is a beautiful light pinky-peach. The texture is smooth & the chrome finish beautiful. To avoid looking too frosty, be sure to wipe excess off the wand before application. Unfortunately, however, all that wiping makes the product a little messy, hence the lower score for packaging & overall rating. This color also makes a great "highlight" lip color. Perfect for adding a little extra sheen to other lip colors & looks fabulous dabbed over Sunmetal.
