This stuff is wonderful-stays on all day over my Shiseido lifting foundation and is the perfect color-looks like I have a healthy flush to me and a dot does both cheeks. It's the first MUF product i have and I will most definitely repurchase. I am not impressed with the HD foundation, but the blush gets 5 lippies.

OMG-I have finally found it, my HG. I am a long time BE user and thought I would never stray. I recently began having (much to my dismay) a very hateful relationship with my BE. Suddenly it is not covering to my liking, nor staying on! I attribute alot of this to heading quickly into 40, also with wanting a bit more of a "polished" look to my makeup. Not necessary for me to look so sheer anymore that it doesn't appear as I'm wearing make up. If I go to the trouble, I am craving a bit more of a finished look. I have been expirimenting with some samples from Sephora-Smashbox which Iliked but it smells TOXIC-to MUF which created a horrific oil slick on my horribly DRY skin (I know, weird!). Laura Mercier which was equivalent in sheerness to Covergirl-great if I was still 14 years old. I came upon this in the most unusual circumstance. I was at the Duty free shop at the airport and they had huge displays of high end makeup. I began trying a few, and this one spoke to me. Full coverage-yet luminous finish. This stuff is literally magical. I found my color-but am VERY confused by their color system-if anyone can help me I would appreciate it a ton. I got i60-deep ivory. It is very yellow undertoned (I have always heard because they are a Japanese company that they favor more the yellow tones) and it matches perfect. I am just curious what Dark Ochre looks like (they were out at the store). This stuff goes on beautiful with my Smashbox foundation brush, dries to a luminous yet full coverage finish and lasts all day with NO touchoups. Does not oxidize or melt away. I am in love. It is pricey, but I am using 2 pumps so I guess the bottle will last a long time. This stuff is the BOMB. I HIGHLY recommend, especially for anyone looking for a more finished and polished look.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 5 of 5

OMG I think I have found the Holy Grail of mascara. Seriously! I was a huge fan of "sky high curves" and was devastated (like really bad, I haunted every store buying every last tube in my town). This hands down holds a candle to this fabulous mascara of yesterday. Maybelline always outdoes themselves on their mascaras-the price is right and they consistently deliver on what they say they do. I will not pay big bucks for mascara, I would rather have a fresh tube more often. Falsies delivers-it gives a real "fringy" look, without being clumpy. It seperates and gives great length and fullness. Will most definitley purchase again ASAP. I will also be trying the waterproof formula next! :)

Powders -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin

Love this stuff. I bought this instead of my usual BE because of the color issues I am having right now with BE being between tan skin and winter skin. It gives GORGEOUS coverage, but the packaging is AWFUL. I just got a clean little tupperwear container and put it in that. Beautiful finish, med coverage (people need to realize that mineral make up does not give full, mask like coverage). It lets your skin show through, but blurs the flaws. You get a glowy look with this, which I love, although not as much as BE. I think it's my new HG!

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse

I am a bareminerals girl-have been for like 5 years now. Every fall after the tan starts fading away, I stray for a couple weeks from it and always return. It's that time of year again! :) I tried this and LOVE IT. It gives great coverage, but yet looks light. A nice glowy effect, which I like. Put my mineral veil over it and it still looked perfect 12 hours later. I will purchase again next fall when the tan fades away and I'm between colors in BE. Like this stuff alot! The pump is very sanitary, and for the price it beats the heck out of Mac or Clinique.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Luminess Airbrush System
rated 3 of 5

As a die hard BE user for 2 years I don't know what the heck possessed me to buy this! Insomnia struck and I got sucked into the infomercial. Well produced and I was curious I guess. I ordered, it took FOREVER to come (like 14 business days), even though I stupidly paid the 13.00 rush order fee! The quality of the machine is high, it is very nice and runs very quietly and is easy to use. The problem was the coverage and the actual makeup. You MUST use their makeup or it voids the warranty. The color selection is horrible. I ordered the medium shades, it comes with 4 and not one was even CLOSE! They are either very ashy looking or orange. No yellow undertones to be had, and that is what I need. The coverage is way too heavy and mask like, the finish is horribly matte (like corpse makeup!). UGH. Also, it felt very drying on my skin. I sent it back and went running back to my beloved BE, which provides beautiful coverage but makes it looks like I have real skin, not flat, dull and lifeless skin. Just say NO!

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Facial Cream
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 11/7/2007 7:26:00 AM

As a true moisturizer connissiuer, I must say, this stuff is my new HG. I am a dermalogica girl (my friend works for them, she hooks me up, but with her discount, it's still breaking my bank). I have extremely dry and sensitive skin and they had this on sale at Target, I bought it on a whim and couldn't be more impressed. Olay is really great stuff these days and this moisturizer is so rich, creamy and doesn't bother my skin in the least. I love it. I will be going back to Target to investigate more of the Regernerist line. Ladies, try this stuff!

Powder -Pur Minerals - Pressed Powder Foundation

Why don't I ever learn?! As a loyal BE user for many years, I was seduced by the display of this at Ulta and decided to switch things up. What a mistake. I use Med Beige in BE and find it to be the perfect color. The SA suggested Golden Med in Pur. I resisted a bit saying it looked cool, even though it is touted as their "warm" option. She insisted. I applied the next morning and wasn't thrilled with results, but was in a hurry to a client meeting. I had to use the ladies room in the middle of my meeting and was HORRIFIED to see in the mirror I truly looked like a corpse. I had a gray and metallic cast to my skin and the coverage was beyond heavy. Horrible. I then was so embarassed and distracted throughout the remainder of the meeting I don't think I heard a word that was said. Then upon picking up my daughters after school, they both said "what's wrong with your skin today mom, it' looks bruised?". Needless to say, I believe it was an incorect color match, but this experience sent me packing back to Ulta to return for a new jar of BE.

Highlighters -Bare Escentuals - Pure Radiance
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 12/13/2006 6:41:00 AM

I concur with the other reviews that say this is the BEST radiance that BE has put out. Color can only be described as an ethereal glow in a jar. I LOVE this stuff. I have all the radiances and I have put them all in the makeup graveyard, this is all I need. Gorgeous as a shadow also, and even fabulous dipped in lipbalm to create a pouty, peachy gloss. BE continues to amaze and suprise witht he fantastic colors that they come out with. Just when I think there are no gorgeous colors left, they come out with another "must have". I have converted so many people onto this makeup and have never had a dissapointed convert! :) I just turned my 13 year old daughter onto it and will share my Pure Radiance with her! She and I joke that the minerals must mate in the jars because they never go away. She is truly a believer that since they are natural and minerals that this is possible! ha.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Sex On The Beach SPF12 Glimmer
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 7/25/2006 8:50:00 PM

Oh my love affair with BE just gets stronger each day. I love this stuff. The eyeshadows are fantastic, I'm addicted to the creamy texture and staying power! This color came in a kit, and at first I wasn't sure. I forced myself to "step out of my box" (I usually am a brown eye shadow girl). This is a deep, rich and shimmery plum color. It's gorgeous! I swept it all over the lid, and then FOILED (wet the brush and apply the shadow damp) in the crease to darken and define, gorgeous. I reach for this color almost every day now. I have very sensitive Lasik eyes, and these eyeshadows do not irritate at all. They stay on like crazy, but that thin eyelid skin is soft and supple upon removing. Will repurchase again the minute I run out!

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Trudy
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 12/13/2005 12:31:00 PM

I just recieved this color from Sephora and LOVE it! I was using Glee for my blush but felt at times it was just too much, like I had been out in way cold weather for too long. Since I live in Michigan I don't need any help with that. I have put the glee away till summer and am using this beautiful mocha-ish color and feel it looks so natural and stays true to color the entire day as do all BE products. I think this shade would work for nearly any skin tone and recomend it highly, maybe not as an "all over" as it is marketed, but as a blush. I love BE.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
lisamdougherty 11/25/2005 5:54:00 AM

I LOVE make up alley! What a cool website. I am fairly new and come on here to read make up/skincare reviews to relax and research. Everyone is so informative. This product is a must have for me, but not for my face, more as a body treatment for some mild Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin, little bumps, nice...) My estetician friend recommended after I got depressed shelling out 45.00 a month for previous salisylic acid treament the dermatologist recommended. This stuff contains the same ingredient at a fraction of the cost and has the added bonus of Vit. A. I use this faithfully every morning on my upper arms after exfoliating with a Buff Puff and a mild sugar cleanser. If I skip a day, I pay the price. It can make you pretty sensitive to the sun, so be careful. It works like a dream-I can only imagine how great it would work on the face for acne problems. If it can clear up a stubborn, 20 year old case of KP it's gold IMO. Hope they never discontinue/change formula!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Expansion [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 11/25/2005 5:45:00 AM

Let me just start by saying mascara can be a major stumbling block for me in my morning makeup routine. This is the product that can instantly transform you to either beautiful or Tammy Faye with one false move. That being said, I was leary to try all the new lash extending mascaras on the market. This stuff does what it says! My lashes literally grow longer as I'm applying-whatever fibers they use in this also doesn't irritate my VERY sensitive, dry, lasik surgery eyes. It lasts but yet washes off pretty easily with good creamy make up remover. Maybelline, IMO, consistenly delivers really high quality products at really reasonable prices. This is my 4th tube of this stuff and I'm hooked.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Volume Boost Liquid Lipcolour
rated 5 of 5
lisamdougherty 11/24/2005 9:48:00 AM

I am in love-I have tried every over priced plumper on the market and this stuff does the trick for a fraction of the cost. Great colors too! It doesn't leave a weird film on the lips and you can feel a nice but not irritating tingle. I recieve compliments every time I wear this. Rimmel is readily available at the drugstores-don't have to treck into Sephora to purchase. I have one of these in my purse, car, office, etc. Good stuff.
