Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear - Pacific Blue
lisaf6501 8/16/2011 4:10:00 PM
This color is so great! Such a bright, fun blue and I love the cream texture. I got so many compliments when I wore this last week. The price is great too. I think I paid $2.50 or so at Target for it. The only bad thing about it is the brush. The wand part of it is super long so it's hard to wipe off on the mouth of the bottle. Small price to pay for such an awesome color, though.

Hair Color -Ion - Color Brilliance - Demi Permanent Hair Color
lisaf6501 8/9/2011 1:21:00 AM
This is a good dye but it does run extremely dark. So dark that I felt compelled to write a review, which I haven't done in ages. I've used this hair color many times with good results. I've always tried to deepen the color of my hair, so the fact that it ran very dark didn't bother me. I still chose 2 shades lighter than my desired shade and I was always happy. This time I decided I didn't want to deepen the color, but just take the red out of it. My hair is a dark reddish brown right now. The last time I dyed it (which was with this dye) was probably 4 months ago. I knew I wasn't going to lighten it but I just wanted it the same color (or slightly darker) and to cover up the red. I have very thick, longish hair. I used a tube of light neutral brown and a tube of clear. I also used a ratio of 1:2 for dye to developer so the color wasn't so concentrated. I figured the clear would add shine and cut the color as well. I left the mixture on for 20 minutes and washed and dried. It's nearly black! I'm not super upset because the color doesn't look bad on me and it is very shiny and pretty. But I just can't give a 5 star review to something that runs 3-4 shades dark. Use this dye with caution! It is a good product but it runs very, very dark.

Gels/Soaps -St. Ives - Oatmeal and Shea Butter Body Wash
lisaf6501 11/24/2010 1:21:00 AM
This is probably one of the best body washes I've used and also one of the cheapest. It really makes a difference in my dry winter skin. It almost feels silky! I love the light but pleasant scent, too. This is a truly wonderful product, and you can't beat the price.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick
lisaf6501 3/10/2010 4:48:00 PM
I bought this in Premium Pink today because they were $4.99 at Rite Aid. I applied it in the car. When you first apply it, it's like a nice, shiny lip gloss. About 30 seconds later, it dries to a boring, flat matte finish. It never fully dried, and felt sticky several hours later. The color, however, was pretty. A vibrant hot pink, just like I was looking for. Several hours later, I went to get in the shower. I applied extra soap to my lips and scrubbed at them to get the lipstick off. When I got out of the shower, it looked as fresh as if I had just applied it. So I broke out my makeup remover and attempted to scrub it off with that and a washcloth. That lipstick does. not. budge. So overall, I hated it and I won't repurchase it because it feels so sticky and dries really flat. The two lippies I gave it are just because it does what it's supposed to do: put color on your lips and least freaking forever.

Self Tanners -ModelCo - Tan Airbrush In A Can
lisaf6501 8/26/2009 5:41:00 PM
I have tried so many different self-tanners, and I've never found one that was perfect. I really believe that the ModelCo Tan in a Can is the closest I've gotten. I bought it at a discount store so the price wasn't too bad, about $13 or so. Now on to the good stuff. This stuff is MESSY. Don't even dream of using it anywhere but the shower. It will cover everything in a dark brown mist. It dries super fast, so I do it in sections: each of my legs, my torso and decolletage, and then my arms. I do NOT just spray it on and leave it. I really don't think of this as an appropriate airbrush tan; to me, it seems necessary to rub it in. It sprays out super blotchy. So I spray it on and rub it in fast. I wash my hands in between each section of my body. I use Neutrogena MicroMist on my back because it sprays out finer. ModelCo Tan in a Can has a bronzer in it, so it instantly turns your skin brown. It doesn't stink at all, except after a few hours, it starts to smell self-tanny. I leave it on for at least 6 hours then wash it off. It's actually kind of light compared to how dark the bronzer is in it, so I usually do it 2 days in a row. The tan underneath the bronzer is very even and streak-free. It lasts a really long time, and fades better than any other self-tan I've ever used. I love this stuff so much. If you can deal with the messy application, it's so wonderful. I've already bought another can as backup.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Vivite Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 30
lisaf6501 7/9/2009 12:47:00 AM
I began using this product when I talked to my dermatologist about wanting to begin to combat the signs of aging. I'm in my late twenties and actually have fairly nice skin, but I am starting to get some lines that weren't there before. My derm gave me a sample of this, along with the daily cleanser. It only took a couple days for me to be hooked. This product would be ideal for most skin types. I personally have normal to dry skin, and this was moisturizing without feeling heavy. It kept my skin clear and exfoliated. After about 2 months, I noticed a dramatic improvement in my fine lines. There was no need for me to use an additional exfoliant; this lotion alone was enough. The only downside to this product is the price. I bought the full-sized bottle for $50. It lasted me 4 months with daily use. For me, being on a budget, that's pretty pricey. But this line is incredible. Next I want to try the night cream. I can't believe a product would make that much difference in my skin, but it did. Absolutely amazing. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Drenched in Pink Fresh & Clean Supersoft Body Lotion
lisaf6501 5/30/2009 12:36:00 AM
After reading all the reviews on this product, I almost wonder if I got an "off" batch or something. I bought it unsniffed from BBW based on the rave reviews here. When I got home and put it on, it didn't smell like D&G Light Blue like others have suggested here. It didn't even smell good at all. It's not citrusy to me, it's more like a laundry detergent. I thought maybe I was crazy because everyone else loved it so much, so I asked my boyfriend what he thought. He said it smelled really bad. I guess maybe it just disagrees with me. It does have good points, though; the lotion itself is a nice texture and moisturizes well, so that's why I gave it 2 lippies instead of one. If for any reason you don't like this, try Body by Victoria lotion at VS. It's a true clean smelling lotion. I get compliments galore on that one. Glad this one worked for so many of you, but it was awful on me.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
lisaf6501 5/7/2009 4:48:00 PM
For the last 4 years, I've lived in an area with no Sephora, so I have to do all my ordering online. I've wanted to try this foundation for ages, but since I couldn't try it on in real life, and the colors appear to be randomly numbered, I was afraid to order it. I got some good color swatches off the makeup board and decided to order shade 2 (I'm MAC NW25 for reference). When the foundation arrived, it appeared to be a tiny bit too pale and a tiny bit too pink. I loved the coverage, though. On me it's medium coverage with a dewy finish. No breakouts thus far (it's been a week). I was thinking I needed to send back shade 2 and try 32, but I decided to use my BeneFit Hoola over the top, and it looks amazing. I'm going to keep shade 2 and use bronzer during the summer. It will be a good fall and winter match. Another plus of this foundation is that it really lasts! I love it and wish I hadn't taken so long to order it!

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam Eyes
lisaf6501 4/21/2009 12:43:00 AM
Wow, this is pretty much the best mascara I've ever purchased. Got it based on the reviews here, and so far, I'm loving it. When I first opened the package and saw that it uses the kind of comb brush, I was disappointed. I'd used that type of brush before and never liked it. They made Glam Eyes super easy to use though, and 2 coats gives me the longest, thickest eyelashes. No clumps, no flaking. And it's cheap!

Self Tanners -Jergens - Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer-Medium Tan
lisaf6501 4/19/2009 1:28:00 PM
Easily the best self-tanner I have ever tried, and I've tried a ton: Lancome, Clarins, Scott Barnes, Dior, and all sorts of drugstore varieties, too. I bought this tanner based on the recommendations here. I was hesitant to try Jergens again, because their Natural Glow lotion smells ridiculously bad. This, however, is the least-offensive smelling tanner I've ever used. I can put it on before work and don't have to worry about stinking all day. It hardly has a smell at all, and I'm really sensitive to that. The color is nice and natural with no streaks. The foam glides on easily. Be careful not to dispense too much at once. Rub it into your skin, let dry for 5 minutes, and you're set to go. I'm quite pale and I use the medium to tan version without any problems at all. Also, this stuff is super affordable. I think about $8 or so at Walgreens. I love it. There is no need for me to ever spend $40 on a self tanner again. This one has them all beat.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Cremesheen Gloss in Looks Like Sin
lisaf6501 4/16/2009 7:20:00 PM
I'm the queen of nude lipsticks and lipglosses. Dark lip colors terrify me. When I went to the MAC counter to pick up the much-hyped Boybait, I was told it was sold out. WHAT? The remaining colors did not appeal to me in the least. I resigned myself to going home empty-handed. But the SA stopped me before I left. She convinced me to at least try one of them because they were so lovely. She told me, "I think this one would look great on you!" It was Looks Like Sin. I immediately told her no. The color is dark reddish brown in the tube. I told her, "I don't do dark colors. They don't work on me." She told me how sheer it went on, and that it was one of her favorites. What was the harm in trying it on? So I did. My mom and sister went nuts. My mom never likes any makeup; she sees my love for it as fiscally irresponsible. But she loved Looks Like Sin. It went on sheer, just like the SA promised. It was a deep berry stain on my lips, and strangely enough, I loved it. It was so creamy and pretty. I bought it. Yes, it is more expensive than a regular Lipglass. Yes, there is less in the tube than a regular Lipglass. But I want more. I hope MAC decides to make this collection permanent. If you can still find them, try it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Bobbi Brown - Tinted Moisturizer [REFORMULATED]
lisaf6501 4/15/2009 2:04:00 PM
I've been on the hunt for a good tinted moisturizer for a while. BB gets great reviews here, so I decided to try it. In general BB foundations seem too yellow for me, but the SA assured me that that wouldn't be a problem, due to the sheerness of the TM. I was matched with Light. The texture is nice enough, very smooth, and it's fairly moisturizing, although I do use a separate moisturizer underneath (my skin is quite dry). Coverage is very sheer, just like a TM is supposed to be. The color just really bothers me. It's too yellow and not a good match for my skin. I don't think BB foundations and my skin are meant to be. Also, it broke me out in a few small pimples. When I think about it, my $7 Cover Girl TM works better than this $42 product. Sad.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Galaxy gloss in Astral
lisaf6501 4/15/2009 1:59:00 PM
This lip gloss is sort of an enigma. It has a ton of sparkles in it, yet manages to stay smooth and hydrating! Great texture, like any Chanel gloss (nice big price tag, too!). I have to admit, I bought this one just because the SA told me it was limited edition. The color is nice, but in hindsight, not something I should have purchased, because I rarely wear it. The color is a bit too bubblegum for me. It's pretty, definitely, just too overtly pink for me. It's a bright, screaming pink in the tube, so I should have realized that. No hate from me on the product, it's just out of my comfort zone.

Mascara -Neutrogena - Healthy Volume Waterproof
lisaf6501 4/15/2009 1:56:00 PM
Good for an everyday look. This mascara is not going to give you vavoom lashes though, which is what I prefer and why I purchased it. The formula is a bit dry for my tastes. However, it is very waterproof and the color is nice and dark. I can see how it would be a nice mascara for some people, but it's just not what I prefer.

Cleansers -MAC - Cremewash
lisaf6501 4/12/2009 10:12:00 PM
What really bothers me about this product is that the SA at MAC directly asked me what type of skin I have, and then gave me this stuff when I told her I was dry. This cleanser is full of harsh chemicals and was extremely drying on my skin. It broke me out, too. The smell is decent and it lathers nicely, due to all those detergents in it. I'm giving it to my sister. She has oilier skin than me, and can maybe find a use for it.
