Eyes -Quo - Liquid Liner
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:21:00 PM
This is my new favourite liquid liner. I bought the Diamond Liner in black spark and it really brings out my eyes well. It goes on easily with a small brush and stays wet just long enough to blend a little if you draw the line too harshly or make it crooked. I love it. No smudging either, even on my oily skin.

Primer/ Corrector -Quo - Total Perfection Face Primer
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:18:00 PM
I use this rarely because of the price, I want to save it for special occasions. However it is an awesome product. It really gives the skin a softness and helps the foundation glide on smoothly. I won't say it does anything dramatic visually (which one might hope for in an expensive product) but it really seems to make everything go on better and your skin texture benefits a lot.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous - new formula - Caramel Glace
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:14:00 PM
I found this a shimmery and natural looking lipstick. It goes on well, and while it doesn't last exceptionally long I think the look it achieves is worth it. It also doesn't appear sloppy when it does wear off, it just kinda blends in with your natural colour. A really classy looking lip colour.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Maybelline Eyestudio in Give Me Gold
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:10:00 PM
I loved this one, blended well and had a touch of glitter to it. I have had tons of compliments while wearing this stuff, and generally speaking I don't have time to fuss a lot with my makeup in the morning. It blends easily and quickly and shows up fairly well.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - EyeStudio Color Plush quad in Mad for Mauve
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:07:00 PM
LOVE this stuff, it blends so easily and the colours go together flawlessly and also blend well with other palettes. I would recommend this to anyone, I like it better than some of the more expensive brands I've tried. It blows Nyx out of the water.

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 6:01:00 PM
This is the only foundation I have ever found that matches my pale skin tone well, and goes on without looking cakey. I have bad combination skin and this doesn't really cover up the shine very well, but it DOES do what no other foundation has so far, and doesn't make the dry parts of my skin look noticeable or cakey. Overall I'm really pleased with it, it doesn't make me break out and it covers lightly and smoothly.

Polishes -Avon - Avon Speed Dry Nail Enamel (various colors)
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:55:00 PM
This polish is not THAT much of a speed dry product. It's probably the same as any other polish in terms of drying time, they make them all like that now, and this does not have the true accelerated drying time that Rimmel 60 seconds ones do. Maybe 30 years ago this would have been considered a speed dry polish...that's about how outdated Avon is in the makeup department. My biggest problem with this product was the colour. I bought it in Sheer Chiffon, and the catalogue showed it as this sheer, youthful and classy type of colour that would give a hint of pink. What I got was a dense "granny shade" of mauve that you couldn't even cover up very well with another colour to make it look young and fresh. I got what I paid for.

Polishes -Rimmel - 60 Seconds Nail Polish
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:47:00 PM
I find that while this nail polish needs more than one coat to show the right colour intensity, it does stay on for a long time. However it is easy to get off with remover. In general I think these are good quality products and have some decent colour choices. One more thing...it dries REALLY fast. Awesome in that way.

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-Color - Black Pearl
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:42:00 PM
This mascara is good. It isn't stellar...it enhances your eyelashes but it doesn't make miracles happen either. For the price of it it's reasonable enough, and a bottle lasts a decent amount of time. It does not clump until you are at the end of the bottle and it's starting to dry up. Why I buy it over and over, is because I have very sensitive eyes and wear contacts. This is the only brand I've found that I can wear without irritation, and to me that is important. There is no point buying some amazing product if it causes me to be bleary eyed and running to the bathroom to flush my contacts every hour. With this stuff - I don't even know I have it on. I can rub my eyes, swim, whatever, it doesn't seem to run easily, and if it does get in your eye it doesn't sting at all.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:33:00 PM
I paid $26 for this mascara because the lady at the store told me it was this raved-about product they brought in because everyone HAD to have it. I used Almay before it, and was willing to try this Bad Gal stuff instead. Never again. I found that it made my eyes irritated (I do have contact lenses) and they burned by the time noon hit every day. God help you if you happen to cry with this stuff on. It's not water proof and it finds a way into your eyes even if you don't rub them. I do not recommend it for contact wearers or those with sensitive eyes. The other part that annoyed me is that, while it's a decent looking mascara, it doesn't make my lashes any more impressive than my $10 Almay mascara did. I haven't had it clump on me which is good, but not "good" to the tune of an additional $16.

Eyeliner -Marcelle - Khol Eyeliner
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:26:00 PM
I have this pencil in dark brown, use it daily and love the way it goes on and shows up. It's lasted me for almost 6 months already and it's not even 2/3 of the way gone so you get a lot for your money. The only problem is that I have oily skin and it does smudge on the lower lash, I have to touch it up or I end up with raccoon eyes. Don't be too hard on Marcell though, I have this problem with all kohl liners I've ever tried and only use them because liquid liners look too harsh on the lower lid. I have contact lenses and this does not bother my eyes at ALL.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Baked Collection- Baked Sugar
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:22:00 PM
This is one I use in conjunction with other shadows due to my pale skin tone, but some people could use this palette on its own for a nice natural look. Don't be put off by the weird looking white shade, it is awesome as a base and to apply to the upper eyelid, it makes your eyes really pop and if you do it right you can layer other shadow below and it creates a great look. This shadow is of good quality, lasts a long time and has good blending capacity.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Baked Collection - Baked Oatmeal
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:19:00 PM
This is good quality eyeshadow. While the shades in this palette are too light to use on their own (for my personal taste and skin tone) I find they are excellent to use as a base, or to lighten up a darker shadow. It lasts for a long time too, I use it at least 2 times a week and have had the set for nearly 8 months.

Eye Shadow -NYX - 3 Color Eyeshadow
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:16:00 PM
I bought the triple eyeshadow from Nyx in TS33 Lake Moss. Wow...talk about false advertising. To look at it, you would think you had three very different shades. One is a black-grey, one is navy blue, the other is burgundy. All three appear to have lots of sparkles in them, you would expect to have an evening/clubbing look with the amount of glitter in there. Then you put it on. Almost no glitter actually shows up on the eyelid, in any of the three tones. That was the first disappointment, as I could get those three shades in any brand without glitter. The worst part however, was that all three shades look almost identical when you apply them. There were no testers at the store so I couldn't anticipate this, but the burgundy has a blue tone to it and doesn't look reddish at ALL. Basically what you have is blue, brighter blue, and grey with a hint of...blue. Total waste of money and not what you expect if you are looking for a certain colour combo.

Polishes -NYX - Nails
lilyhemlock 6/5/2010 5:06:00 PM
The colours are interesting, no doubt, and they show up nicely. Problem I found is that they chip really quickly...yet are a pain to remove with nail polish remover. Not sure how they managed to make this stuff hard to get off with remover and literally chipping within one day of wear at the same time. It's not too expensive at $7 but often you can find the same colours in a cheaper brand, and they probably have better staying power. I keep using it because there are a couple colours I can't find in other brands, but if I ever did I would switch in a heartbeat.
