Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - Hand Food
rated 5 of 5

Two and a half days ago I curled my hair and accidentally left the iron on. When I got home I was cleaning the bathroom counter off and picked up the iron and thought "that's strange, the handle is warm" and stupidly grabbed the barrel. It was set at 420 degrees. I think that's the highest setting for Hot Tools. Anyway, my drawn out point is that a couple days later, hand Is healing and dry as a cracker. I applied a lotion last night before bed and topped it with Aquaphor but it was still dry this morning. I've since put this hand cream on twice and now I can barely tell my hand was burned. It's so soft (my hand) and the smell is amazing. I had gotten the $5 travel size but I will most definitely be buying the larger size for my nightstand and a couple smaller ones for my purse, living room, bathroom and kitchen. :)

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
lilybasset 1/18/2012 2:30:00 PM

I've used this off and on for years with the clarifying conditioner. It effectively cleans my hair and gets rid of any product residue. The bonus is that it smells fantastic and it's only $1. In short it does what it claims. I just ran out but I'd like to try something different (as usual!) so I'm not repurchasing immediately, however I would be that I come back to this off an on throughout my lifetime just as I have in the past. :)

Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Kiwi and Lime Squeeze Clarifying Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 1/18/2012 2:26:00 PM

I've used this off and on for years with the clarifying shampoo. It doesn't weigh my hair down after clarifying. If you need light moisture (as in hardly any) this is perfect. With a little leave in conditioner it is great for summer days. I'm sure if I didn't get bored easily I would repurchase this since I just ran out but I want to try Neutrogena Clean to see if it can replace my clarifying shampoo/conditioner and my volumizing shampoo/conditioner (Nexxus). Either way, I'm sure at some point in my life I'll repurchase this. At $1 it's hard to beat.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss in Amber
rated 5 of 5
lilybasset 5/8/2011 11:36:00 AM

This is the first gloss I've ever completely used up. It's a gorgeous peachy-pink nude color that I can wear alone and it gives a pretty peachy-nude shine that is very natural. I have pigmented lips and not many glosses can make them appear nude however, I would say this is similar in color to Revlon Super Lustrous Nude Lustre. The only difference is the Buxom gloss has some shimmer and is a bit lighter. I didn't notice any plumping but it does have a tingly, cooling sensation and I love the way the Buxom glosses smell, almost like vanilla birthday cake. I would definitely buy it again but I won't run out and get a replacement immediately especially with the economy as it is, I'll stick with Revlon for the time being although I prefer the Buxom.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 1:16:00 PM

I had reviewed the original Voluminous a long time ago and I remember only liking the waterproof version. The Voluminous Carbon Black is different though. I loved the regular version, it didn't clump much (until the tube was very dry) and it gave me super thick lashes. I love it. This is definitely my "night out" mascara.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 3 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 1:13:00 PM

I would repurchase this if I'm looking for a very natural mascara (which I generally like.) It wasn't very clumpy for me, and it had a semi small brush that I could get into my roots with. I'm not a huge fan of the massive brushes. This mascara won't give you insane volume but it's buildable so if you feel like putting on 10 coats you probably could get away with it. I liked it pretty well for a natural every day mascara.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 1:10:00 PM

I liked the Falsies mascara pretty well, it volumized and made my lashes look thick, but it did clump and even the non-waterproof version was hard to wash off. Overall this isn't a bad mascara and I'd repurchase it when I'm looking for a change but it isn't my favorite by far. You'll definitely need a lash comb for this one.

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash Volume Mascara
rated 1 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 1:07:00 PM

This mascara clumped and smudged. It wasn't bad at the beginning but once it began to dry out a bit it was horrible. I think part of it may have been the funky brush. The brush is super flexible almost like it's broken and it's hard to control, it doesn't have any stiffness to work it into the roots of your lashes. I read the reviews about the brush being weird but I ignored them and figured it couldn't have been too bad. Trust me, it's bad.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 1:04:00 PM

I bought this a long time ago and forgot to write a review on it. I really liked it, the brush was small enough to get to the roots of my lashes and still get my lower lashes coated without smudging or flaking. It gave a very natural look but I like that, so not a ton of volume/length, but enough to make them look fuller and separated.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 3/2/2011 12:59:00 PM

IMO this is the amped up version of Maybellines Full 'N Soft. It lengthens, thickens, defines and isn't crunchy/sticky. I really like it, but I also am a big fan of Full 'N Soft.

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
rated 5 of 5
lilybasset 10/22/2010 4:29:00 PM

I absolutely love this stuff. It is sheer but buildable and looks like skin, not makeup. It hasn't broken me out and I've been using it for about 2 months now. It's relatively cheap considering how much you get in a bottle, I think it will last me quite a while and I tend to overuse products. It just has a great finish and even mid-day when I get oily, it just looks like glow, not grease.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 6/15/2010 1:50:00 PM

I have decently pigmented lips so for me to do a nude lip is usually out of the question without looking strange. This color is so neutral that it just works somehow. It lightens up my natural lip color and allows me to do a nude lip/smoky eye which I've never been able to do before! I love it! It looks a little strange when I first apply it, but once it warms up and smooths itself out it looks great. :)

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 4 of 5
lilybasset 3/24/2010 5:19:00 PM

I've been using this foundation for several months now and just purchased a new one. This is the closest I've ever been to having an HG foundation. I have been using Fiji which honestly is a touch too dark for me (NC20-ish) and Gobi would probably match better but I repurchased Fiji since it's coming up on Summer. It covers well for a liquid without feeling cakey or looking masky. It's lightweight to where I feel like I'm not wearing anything at all. It's easy to blend and goes on quickly without streakyness and doesn't settle into my pores and it lasts all day. The only things I have to complain about are the lack of a pump and the fact that it's $42. With that said it has lasted me five months so that's only $8.40 per month which isn't bad. Anyway, I love it, it's the best liquid I've ever used.

Shampoo -Clairol - Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
lilybasset 3/24/2010 10:33:00 AM

I LOVE this stuff! I bought it a while ago and never ended up needing it so it sat in my cabinet. I overslept yesterday morning and didn't have time to wash my hair before going to work so I pulled it out and sprayed it in then pinned my bangs back in a pouf. Usually there is no way for me to go a day between washings and my second day hair is so gross the only thing to do to it is put it in a ponytail and put a hat on. When I got home from class that night (being gone from 8-10 PM!) my hair still looked clean and the texture I had in it was great! It left my roots volumized which for my fine, limp hair is a HUGE deal! :) I wanted to see how it would work on third day hair so I didn't wash it again today and put it in a ponytail and it still looks clean and full and I am in love with the volume and texture I get at my roots. I'll definitely repurchase and make sure I have a back up!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
rated 1 of 5
lilybasset 12/4/2008 9:02:00 AM

I had this mascara a few years ago in waterproof and loved the way it looked except I'm not such a fan of waterproof mascara. I saw this in Target last night for 4.99 so I picked it up. I applied it when I got out of the store and headed off to church. Literally 2 hours later it had flaked all over my cheeks. It was horrible. I don't think I'll ever repurchase and this tube is going in the trash.
