Lip Gloss -By Terry - Laque de Rose

This is fantastic. I bought the rose kiss - its almost too red for me and it has more pigment than I was wanting (unlike the other reviews). The price makes it insane, but consider the fact that it last 4 hours - unlike Stila which lasts 10 minutes. Find the right shade first, then make the purchase. It does have the incredibly strong rose scent and it also plumps and moisturizers like the baume. This goes everywhere with me.

Crème -Chantecaille - Future Skin

Absolutely my new holy grail and wow - nothing compares. Perfect color match. Goes on with your fingers (do not use a sponge - the sponge will absorb too much product). Its healthy for your skin (!) with tons of seaweed. It moisturizes but doesn't look shiny. I went to bed with it on last night and the makeup still looked good in the morning - it was still evident. Truly. Last but not least, it minimizes wrinkles on skin nearing 60. It doesn't crease at all. Absolutely zero fragrance. Its like a dream product. Its expensive, but for this - its so worth it.

Treatments -LUSH - Serum- Full of Grace

OMG - this is the best moisturizer I have ever used. No kidding - it sinks in and leaves skin looking moist and feeling protected. The mild scent is divine. I won't be without this. I am actually going to stock up - its incredible. My hands, forearms and neck are also benefiting from this wonderful stuff. Can't say enough good things about it. Really. And the price is perfect.

Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace cologne

This is not perfume. I'm spoiled - I like adult parfums meant to inspire sensuality. Toilette water is the right description for this product. Its for people who really don't wear perfume, for folks who are into glade plugins. Its really that bad.

I am very pale. A light dusting with this does exactly what I wanted - I look like I have a little sun, and I'm not washed out or pasty. I love the fact that it has no glimmer or shimmer. Its such a finely milled powder that it feels like silk and truly disappears into the skin. I have no trouble moving this around - I don't get streaks or blotches. Maybe its the fact that I'm so pale in the first place - I can dust it on very lightly and its perfect; if I get too much in one place, I just take a makeup sponge and remove it.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Chene

Unrelentingly dry, smokey, woody and masculine. I can't stop sniffing my wrist. Smells a bit like wine as well - wine that has aged in oak casks. It takes a while to soften - stays sharp and dry for the first two hours. Fantastic.

This is by far the best stuff on the planet. Its mature, not cloying, around all day, warm and uplifting. It is my HG scent. After swapping for it, buying decants, haunting websites, I finally bought a bottle at Barneys. What a treat.

My new winter all day scent. I love woods and I love patchouli. What I get from this is about two hours of soft raisins or licorice and then a complete morph into faint chocolate patchouli and finally a powder that is sublime.

Love this. Purchased the color bliss. The quintessential daytime, all-day wear makeup. Lovely stuff.

Loose Powders -Chantecaille - Loose powder
lily_vert 11/28/2009 7:36:00 PM
This is outstanding. LeClerc is the only other powder I would recommend - and this product far surpasses even that. I have always cringed at the thought of setting my makeup. I can always tell when someone has powder on. This sets my makeup, I cannot tell that its there, and after 8 hours, its all holding together perfectly. The consistency is like silk - and I believe it has silk fibers. I bought the Subtle to set Chantecaille's Real Skin - and where before I wasn't happy with the leftover shine/slip of the Real Skin, with the powder on top of it, it is now my HG foundation. Coverage that feels like nothing is there. The two products together are spectacular.

Treatments (Eye) -Bobbi Brown - Hydrating Eye Cream
lily_vert 11/22/2009 12:49:00 PM
I gave this a try - it is completely ineffective - it does not live up to its claims, and does have a bit of a sting - unacceptable for around the eyes. Origins Eye Doctor is far better than this product - I used it for years, and I think that I am reaping the benefits now. I'll go back to slathering Creme de la mer all over my face - and in my eyes - no sting, and benefits galore.

Every now and then I smell a perfume and all I get is an ugly grape jelly note - this is one of those instances. I couldn't wait to wash it off. I love Chene and Chergui - but this is literally annoying.

Deodorants -Lavanila - The Healthy Deodorant
lily_vert 7/25/2009 12:22:00 PM
I had high hopes for this. I bought the vanilla scent. It is extremely expensive. When I pay that much, I expect it to really work. I am a tough case - I sweat through antiperspirants and I need clinical strength for the odor to be controlled. The only thing that has worked on 'better' days for me is the Thai Crystal Rock. And yes, on some other days that doesn't work for me either. BUT, this does not work. At all. So if you have issues and need a lot of control - save your money - I doubt this will do for you - it lasted about 3 hours before failing. I have also tried Lavilin - the one that is supposed to last for days - that doesn't work well for me either. HTH

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Organic Apoteke - Rejuvenating Face Cream
lily_vert 7/4/2009 9:04:00 PM
I received samples of this at Macys - they are promoting organic products in a section among the cosmetic counters. I like this so much, I will be purchasing it. The smell is divine, the active ingredients actually cause a temporary (10 minute) blush, so you can see that its working - and I have a nice healthy glow. I would use this at night - it has too much slip to perform under makeup; but I do like to have a great smelling, effective night cream.

Liquid -Guerlain - Parure Aqua Fluid Foundation SPF 20
lily_vert 7/3/2009 9:32:00 PM
I wanted to hate this - after all, they replaced my HG foundation - Fleur de Teint - which has been hands down the best stuff I have ever used - with this. Fleur de Teint not only worked great - you could beat it up - apply with your fingers - crush it and it still worked, a 10 second application looked as good as a 3 minute application with a sponge. Well enough about old times. A very good SA was more than happy to make up my whole face so that I could test this. She applied it a bit thicker than I normally would - and 6 hours later, the color is flawless, I am still moisturized, my pores still relaxed and minimized, everything evened out. I will purchase this. Grudgingly. update: This makeup is totally different depending on what moisturizer you have on underneath. Some days it looks great and on other days, its a complete disaster - it will dry up the face like a sponge - leaving lines and wrinkles and pores looking worse than ever. The best moisturizer for this is guerlain's own - and I'm not overly fond of it. It seems that the only moisturizer it works well with are the very dense ones - specifically night time moisturizers. Its too much work to find the right combination - so I am finally bailing out on guerlain completely and going in search of something better. I'll try Chantecaille next.
