Styling Products -Jessicurl - Rockin Ringlets
lilvalval 6/1/2009 11:49:00 PM
The first couple of times I tried this, I hated it. It made my hair stringy, lifeless, and curls...less curly. HOWEVER, I gave it another chance recently and am IN LOVE! I realized that much much more product is needed than I used when I first tried it. I now find that for my thin-medium thickness, mid-back length hair, I need to use about 5 - 7 quarter size dollops. The product is very thin, so it seems like a lot, but its really not. Sooo, if you try this product and don't like it again, try it one more time and use much more than you think you need. ...which is ok because its not a super expensive product...especially compared to the Fekkai, Pureology, Halo, Bumble Bumble, etc products that I've tried.

Shampoo -T3 - 360 Refresh Dry Shampoo
lilvalval 4/15/2009 10:08:00 AM
I love this stuff! i have dark auburn hair, so most dry shampoos take forever to get the white to not show. So I tried Bumble and Bumble the red dry shampoo and WHAT A FREAKIN MESS!! omg! my face had red all over it, my counters, my walls, my floors. And...it came out kinda wet...whats the point of a dry shampoo that is wet?! what crap! But this T3...wow! this stuff is great!!!! it has a nice smell, its completely dry, it doesn't dull my hair horribly, and it blends perfect with my hair color. Its a bit expensive and in a small bottle, but its totally worth it! PS. b/c it T3 is expensive, i use Bastiste dry shampoo from sallys sometimes when I have lots of oilys, but the trick to using it w/ dark hair is to use it at night so that the white power has lots of time to soak up the oils and turn invisble.

Primer/ Corrector -Yves Saint Laurent - Matt Touch - Touche Mate - Oil-Free Primer
lilvalval 11/18/2008 11:01:00 AM
YEAH! i have found my HG oil-control primer!! I have tried MAC, Shiseido, Clarins, Smashbox...and probably more, but I can't remember. This by far beats them all!!! It is a bit higher in price than the others, but I'd rather pay $40 for something that works than $30 for something that doesn't! I go to work at 7am and am usually oily by 11...this keeps the oilies away until around 3pm and even then, its only a small amount of oil...doens't even fill up a whole blot paper. So, using YSL, I blot once around 3pm, then i'm good for the rest of evening. And if I forgot, or didn't have time, to blot, it wouldn't be a big deal b/c the YSL keeps the oilies to minimum. I'm currently experimenting to see if it works best under or over my shiseido sunscreen. I'll post and update when I figure out which method is best.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact [DISCONTINUED]
lilvalval 8/18/2008 10:27:00 AM
I have repurchased this several times...in both water-proof and regular. I LOVE this mascara. Its an awesome drug store product. It lengthens really well. I think that Lash Blast and Volume Exact are the two best drug store mascaras. You will need several coats of Volume Exact to match Lash Blast's look, but Lash Blast tends to flake...so I prefer to use 3-4 coats of Volume Exact instead. It stays put! Make sure you have a good eye makeup remover for the water-proof version.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
lilvalval 8/18/2008 10:24:00 AM
Overall, this is a GREAT drug store mascara. One coat is great, two coats is AWESOME! It lengthens and thickens and people have commented on how great my lashes look when I've worn this. However, I started to notice that this does flake a bit. The flaking wasn't enough to deter me from wearing it though. The only drug store mascara I like better is Cover Girl Volume Exact. Volume Exact takes more coats though to achieve the Lash Blast look...like probably 4-5 coats! But it doesn't flake...so its a toss up between the two...but I'd stay away from Lash Blast if you have contacts b/c of the bit of flaking.

Styling Products -Dove - Smooth & Soft Anti-Frizz Cream
lilvalval 5/30/2008 5:35:00 PM
I really really like this stuff. It smoothes (and even conditions a little) my dry color damaged hair. I put it in wet hair, then blow dry. My hair seems much more smoother and softer. It does help with frizz, but its not fail proof. For a drugstore product, this stuff is awesome!

Treatments -Phyto - Phyto 9
lilvalval 5/30/2008 5:32:00 PM
I don't get it. This did absolutely nothing. zip, zero, nada. I have dry, heat & color damaged hair. I couldn't even tell that I had used anything that I don't normally use. I even tried using it alone w/o any of my other hair product and nothing still. And for that much money!?!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible Lipgloss - Modern Mauve
lilvalval 2/26/2008 5:24:00 PM
I realllllly like this stuff! I didn't think I would be crazy about this color, but because of the reviews, I got it anyway. Good thing, because its really nice. I tested some of the nude shades on my hand and they were a bit odd.....maybe I'll buy once they go on sale. Anyhow, the gloss wears incredibly long for a gloss. 6 hours? hmmm...maybe if you drank or ate absolutely nothing. I put in on before I left for work at 9, I drank coffee on the way, I had water at work, then I at lunch at 12. After lunch I was surprised that a good portion on the gloss was still in place and looked very good. I did reapply though just to freshen up. Considering most gloss last for like a 1/2 hour, this stuff is wonderful!.

Conditioner -Pureology - Volume Conditioner
lilvalval 2/25/2008 10:03:00 PM
ohhh how I hated this stuff!!! I have been looking high and low for a color safe volumizing shampoo/conditioner so I was praying this would be great....but it wasn't. It is way drying and made my hair heavy and dirty feeling...i wanted to wash my hair again by noon. Just felt sooooo gross. I have since fallen in love with Frederick Fekkai Volume shampoo/conditioner.....I have yet to find out if it is color safe, but it doesn't seem to be stripping my easily strippable dyed red hair. My advice, try FF cause this stuff sucks!

Shampoo -Frederic Fekkai - Full Volume Thickening Shampoo
lilvalval 2/25/2008 9:59:00 PM
I love this shampoo (and the conditioner)....as far as a volumizing shampoo, I could really use anything....its the conditioner that is hard to find...and FF volume conditioner is the SHIT!!!! LOVE IT! But the matching shampoo is great too, I love the way it feels....and I LOVE the smell...but if you want to save $$$, maybe go with a cheaper drug store shampoo and splurge on the FF volume shampoo. I gave only 4 lippies cause its sooo $$$ and imo its the conditioner that matters, not the shampoo.

Conditioner -Frederic Fekkai - Full Volume Conditioner
lilvalval 2/25/2008 9:54:00 PM
I LOVE this stuff! Its soooo expensive, but if you've been looking for a color safe not too drying but still volumizing conditioner its sooooo worth it! I thought I would go through it in no time (I usually use 2-3 bottles of conditioner per shampoo), but it actually last much longer than I thought b/c of its "gel" like texture. I was so surprised that it was actually conditioning enough for my dried out damaged ends, but somehow doesn't weigh down my crown. Its like magic ;)!!!! as far as the smell....I don't see what the problem is. No, its not the typical flowery smell of most shampoo/cond., but it smells really clean and fresh and I get little wiffs of cleanliness all day long. (btw, I hated pureologies volumizing shampoo/conditioner....it was totally drying.)As with everthing, the new wears off..., but w/ this, it comes right back after you clarify... I have been using for 2 weeks now and I just used a clarifying today and the ff conditioner is working its wonders again!

Treatments -Bliss Labs - Sleeping Peel
lilvalval 8/1/2006 12:24:00 PM
I didn't think anything good about this product when i first started using it. the one thing I do not like about it is the consistency (which is why i gave it 4, not 5 lippies). Its really thin and water like and i always end up wasting a little bit b/c it drips off my fingers or gets sunk into a cotto pad. Besides this, I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! Been using it for two weeks with the eye cream and using the sleeping peel mask about 2x a week and my face looks so nice. I didn't realize it was doing anything until yesterday when i went to the gym for lunch, washed up, and realized my face looked so nice I didn't need to put on anything beside mascara and lipgloss to go back to work! I NEVER don't wear makeup to work, but my face looked so good and this routine is the only thing I can accredit it to. UPDATE: I stoped using for about 2wks and my face went right back to those stray pimples (4 right now) going to start using again asap!

Styling Products -John Frieda - Beach Blonde Ocean Waves sea spray ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
lilvalval 6/25/2006 3:24:00 PM
I miss this product so much, but don't worry, Starlit waves is the same thing with different scent! Someone said it wasn't, but the majority of people are saying it is indeed the same. You can still get ocean waves on ebay, but I would try this for $5.99 before you pay $13 + shipping on ebay b/c IMO ...ITS THE SAME!
