Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects-Fragrance Free

I've been using this as my daily moisturizer since I was 18 and I'm 31 now. I use the one that comes with SPF 15. I've never really used other daily moisturizers since I started using this one everyday. I've always had very clear and good skin. This doesn't clog my pores or break me out. I have combo-dry sensitive skin. It's light, and absorbs fast. I made the biggest mistake this past summer when I had a temporary break from my tried and true Olay. I finished my bottle and was at Target, strolling down the aisle when I saw Aveeno Positively Radiant. I thought well, isn't this nice, maybe I should give this a try. Afterall, I haven't really tried out any other daily moisturizers and it was cheaper than my Olay Total Effects. Biggest mistake of my life. I will never stray again. My skin just screamed! I was breaking out round after round of cystic pimples. I never went through that horrible bad skin phase when I was a teenager....welp, I went through that now. This has SPF15 in it so it's great for the super cold winter months when the sun is not very strong or for days you don't plan to be out and about. But I personally wear a SPF30 in the winter in addition to my Olay Total Effects, and a SPF60 in the summer months. This is on the pricer side for drugstore brand, but the product is very good and it is comparable to what you get in a department store. For me, it's worth the investment. I love this stuff.

Treatments -Boots - No7 Rebalancing Night Fluid
rated 3 of 5
lilacs80 12/6/2010 5:31:00 PM

I have combination-dry sensitive skin. I get a tad dry on my cheeks and sometimes dry patches over my nose, and a slightly oily T-Zone. My friend was raving about about this night cream and suggested that I give this product a try. It's light and doesn't feel greasy on which I like. I think this is a good basic night cream for anyone who has true combination skin. I found that this night cream dried out my cheeks a little a bit and my cheeks tend to get dry so this night cream doesn't help with that. If you have combination-oily skin, I think this would make a great basic night moisturizer.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Quick Eyes Cream Eye Shadow (All)
rated 4 of 5
lilacs80 12/6/2010 5:20:00 PM

I got two of these...Starlit Pink and Rock Violet. The colors are very pretty. Colors can be layered for darker, more dramatic look, and they blend super well. I like them because they're super quick and easy. I took these with me on a recent trip. I also took a palette of powder shadows with me, but I never even used the palette. I kept reaching for Cliniques Quick Eyes. I just used my fingers...didn't have to worry about brushes and keep them clean. These guys are small, convenient to throw into my makeup bag/handbag, and I can also carried these in my carry-on onto the plane. I recommend these to anyone who like super easy, no fuss, super quick makeup!

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - physiological micellar solution
rated 4 of 5
lilacs80 12/6/2010 3:15:00 PM

I am using this along with the La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser. I love this! It's super gentle and my skin doesn't feel too tight or dried out. I use to remove makeup and sunscreen and then I cleanse again with the Dermo Cleanser. Sometimes, I just use this especially when I don't have very much on my face but I want to cleanse my skin. I switched over to this and the Dermo Cleanser when my skin started to break out like crazy with cystic pimples over the summer. This is super gentle, but cleanses very thoroughly. Depending on how much you've got on, you might need to cleanse twice, but the formula is so gentle that it will not dry out or irritate your skin. I normally have very good and clear skin. Over the summer, I decided to try out a new moisturizer on a whim - Aveeno Positively Radiant. Big mistake. It took me a while to figure out what was breaking me out since it was summer, it was hot, I was using a higher SPF, etc. So I decided that I needed to switch my cleansers and makeup removers. I needed something that was gentle and for sensitive skin so I can cleanse twice if I need to. My regular cleansers and makeup removers started to irritate my skin especially in the areas that was breaking out. It was difficult to cleanse twice because my skin was just screaming. And then, I found this little gem along with the Dermo Cleanser! Best investment ever! This is a little pricey for a drugstore brand, but the product is comparable to what you'd get in a department store. I love it and will continue to use this in my regular skin care routine. This is a total gem! At this point, I'm not sure if I should totally despise Aveeno for ruining my skin and leaving marks behind or thank them. If I hadn't broke out so badly, I'd would have never switch over or found these gems!

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
lilacs80 12/6/2010 2:48:00 PM

I've been using this cleanser the last couple of months. I have combination-dry sensitive skin - cheeks and nose tend to get a tad dry and tight, and T-Zone can get a little shiny in the summer months. I have pretty good skin. My skin was having a bad reaction to a moisturizer I was trying out several months ago and I was breaking out with rounds of cystic pimples. I felt like a teenager! I was trying out Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer -- don't buy it! You will regret it! So I decided to switch to a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin because my normal cleanser was a little too harsh for my skin when I was breaking out because I usually cleanse twice. Once to get off all the makeup and sunscreen, and once to really cleanse the skin. It was too much for my skin with my regular cleanser. My regular cleanser and makeup remover was fine for my skin prior to massive cystic attacks. But with the breakouts, I found my skin to be even more sensitive. I finally figured out it was the new moisturizer causing havoc so I dumped that. I've been using this cleanser in rotation with the La Roche Posay Micellar Solution the last couple months while my skin is healing. I still bear the marks from the cystic pimples. Since I dumped the moisturizer, there hasn't been a break out. I love this cleanser! I will continue to use this in my regular skin care routine. This cleanser is gently enough that I can cleanse my skin twice when I need to which is my usual routine, but at the same time, this cleanses very thoroughly. At this point, I'm not sure to thank Aveeno for ruining my skin because if I hadn't broken out so badly, I probably would've never discover this gem!!

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
lilacs80 12/3/2010 4:04:00 PM

I bought this because of all the rave reviews and it was the Reader's Choice from Allure. I had such high hopes for this daily moisturizer. I use this all over my body after showers and baths in the evenings. This doesn't absorb well into my skin. I feel sticky all over. I still feel the stickiness the next day when I wake up. I don't like that feeling and I can't imagine feeling sticky all over if I was out and about. I pawned the rest of the bottle to my husband so he could finish it for me. I will not be re-purchasing this.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
rated 1 of 5
lilacs80 12/3/2010 3:51:00 PM

OMG. This broke me out like I was a teenager all over again!! I have this moisturizer with the SPF 15 and thought, it was nice...I'll try the SPF 30 one. I was using the SPF 15 one for days I was staying in or going out in the early evenings when the sun is still kind of out or just starting to set, for groceries or movies. Anyways, I thought I get the SPF30 version and try it out. It'd be perfect for the winter sun, where it's not harsh like the summers, so SPF 30 will do. OMG. This gave me cystic pimples. I take very good care of skin, cleanse thoroughly, and I have pretty clear skin. I found this moisturizer to be a little thicker than the SPF 15 one, and it feels a little greasy...maybe from the higher SPF content? Anyways, it took 2 days of using this, and on the 3rd day....BOOM! I got a couple of cystic pimples and a couple of regular pimples. I thought well maybe my skin just needs an adjusting period since I am using a new product. I gave my skin a week or so of break, used this moisturizer again.....same thing. I've used this moisturizer on and off for a month or so just to test it out. Break out every time I use it. Not a happy camper. We all know how horrible and painful the cystic ones are. And they take forever to mellow out. And the marks they leave behind.....sigh. I am pretty fair so these marks look that much more obvious on my face. And to top it off....I feel this is expensive for what it is! This is a huge NO for me.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Skin Brightening Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
lilacs80 12/3/2010 3:25:00 PM

I bought this at Target. My lazy day moisturizer was running low and I saw this so I thought I'd give this a go. I have a couple of different moisturizers that I wear depending on how my skin is or what I'll be putting on my skin. I call this my lazy day moisturizer because I have a moisturizer that I wear when I don't want to put anything on my face other than a moisturizer so it's a beater really. I don't wear this as my daily moisturizer so I don't wear this everyday. I usually wear a moisturizer with a higher SPF for everyday if I'm not wearing a sunscreen separately. This has a fairly low SPF in it so it's great for me when I want to lounge around the house or when I going out in the evenings to a movie or get some groceries, or when I feel my skin just needs a break from everything. This is light, absorbs pretty fast into my skin, and has a very faint pleasant smell to it. It moisturizes my skin, and it light enough that I feel my skin can breathe. If I plan on going out during the day, I'd wear something with a higher SPF or a sunscreen. Overall, I think it's ok. I don't think moisturizer made my skin any more radiant. I think this moisturizer does its job, it moisturizes and has a low SPF. Because I don't use this everyday as a daily moisturizer, it has lasted me quite a while. It's taken me a long time to get down to the bottom and I'm finally finishing it! I bought this back in the summer like in May and I've just finished it, and it's Dec now. I am ready to try something new! For reference, I have dry-combination sensitive skin, dry on the cheeks especially in the cold months, and a slightly oily T-Zone.

Mascara -Rimmel - Lash Maxxx
rated 4 of 5
lilacs80 12/3/2010 3:10:00 PM

I bought this specifically for my bottom lashes because of the lash comb wand. I have very short and straight upper lashes and my needless to say, my bottom lashes look nearly non-existent. So it's difficult to apply mascara to my bottom lashes because the of the big wands and it gets messy. This worked out great for my lower lashes....I get every one of them and makes my bottom lashes beautiful. Looks like I have a little more lashes on the bottom and a little longer, very natural looking. I love this for that. I've never used this on my upper lashes so I can't say whether this mascara lives up to its claim. But as for the lower lashes...I love it.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL ,SPF 60+
rated 5 of 5
lilacs80 12/3/2010 2:50:00 PM

Renewed faith in this product. The first time I ever used this was this past summer and around that time, I was trying out a new moisturizer -- biggest mistake ever! After many months and weeks of swapping things in and out of my skin care routine just to see what's messing my skin up, I've worked out the moisturizer was breaking me out! I thought it was this sunscreen that was breaking me out, but it was the moisturizer. I was trying out the Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer. It's terrible. I had rounds of break outs, mostly cystic pimples! Once they start to subside and calm down, another round would come. It was a never ending cycle. I am still dealing with the marks from all this breaking out. Anyways, I used this SPF recently when I went on a trip and it didn't break me out at all. It comes in a small plastic bottle container with a screw top. You have to shake it really well to mix the content up before applying to your face. It absorbs super fast into the skin and it was rather light. It does feel a tad bit greasy initially when I was applying it with my fingers, but once it absorbs into the skin, it's really not a problem at all. And it's not sticky! I think it's a bit on the expensive side and the price is comparable to the department store brands, but I think this is worth the investment. A little bit goes a long way and that little bottle (1.7 oz) has lasted me through the summer and then some. I actually like the small bottle packaging because it's small and the bottle is thin, not big and bulky. I can throw into my makeup bag or handbag and carry it with me. And this will protect from UVA and UVB rays!

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage
rated 3 of 5
lilacs80 11/5/2010 1:54:00 PM

I have this in SC3. I bought this when I bought the LM Oil-Free Liquid Foundation. It's drying and not creamy. Now that the weather is cold...the concealer doesn't pick up well on my brush or my fingers. I have to warm it up by blow drying the concealer for a couple of seconds with the hair dryer. I will not be buying this again.

Cleansers -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
lilacs80 10/23/2010 7:22:00 PM

I have combination-dry skin. My cheeks tend to get dry in the winter months. This is the first time I've ever used Alba Organics and seeing that this product seem to have more or less good reviews, I decided to try it. I've been using this for a week now and so far, I'm not liking it. It completely stripped my skin especially my cheeks and my T-Zone was more oily than usual in the mornings. By the end of the week, my cheeks were rather irritated, feeling tight and dry. I broke out from using the cleanser, mainly from my skin trying to produce more oil to compensate the dryness. Not a happy camper. The cleanser smells great though.

Deodorants -Tom's of Maine - Natural Deodorant
rated 1 of 5
lilacs80 9/27/2010 2:02:00 PM

I picked up this deodorant because it was natural and aluminum free. It turns out this is by far, my worst deodorant ever! I have this in the apricot scent. It smells nice...light fruity scent, not over powering or overwhelming, but this product does not work! The first time I put this on, I was out all day and maybe 3-4 hours in, I started noticing a slight odor scent. I took a whiff of my underarms and I was in a panic attack. I thought it had to do with me perspiring more than I normally do that day because it was super hot day and causing me to have a slight BO. I kept my arms down for the rest of the day, self conscious that others around me may smell me. So from that point on, I would put on my deodorant in the mornings, and take it with me in my handbag. I find myself sniffing my underarms and checking for BO. I do find that I have to reapply this product like every 3 hours or so. This is terrible. I'm someone who don't have BO, never have BO, and this deodorant for whatever reason, caused me to have slight BO! I think it is from the lack of protection in the perspiration department. Who knows. Or maybe the formula is just not for me....my body chemistry + the formula of the product = sweaty underarms and BO. I think this product is great for someone who does not need a lot of protection and can do without deodorant....this would be the perfect product for that person! It'll give light protection for someone who don't really need it. For us gals who need a little more or moderate protection, this product is not for you! Save yourself the embarrassment, self consciousness, and trouble of carrying an extra deodorant in your handbag for reapplication -- this isn't your lipstick after lunch. I will not be buying this again!
