Skincare - Face -NADS - Facial Hair Removal Strips
lhendrix 10/7/2011 8:44:00 AM
I used to rely on these wax strips to wax above my eyebrows. They gave a lovely straight result and picked up all the hair. True, I did have to blast them with a hair dryer for five seconds for them to become soft, but this didn't bother me. What bothers me is that NADS has changed the formula of these. No longer are they perfect rectangular strips of wax, they are now darker green and have no shape. They're just blobs spread into rectangular-sort of shapes. They are useless to use on the brows now as they give a mottled, uneven line. However, I've given them a 2, because they still pick up underarm hair, however, they don't manage to get all the hair at once and I have to repeat the process. Will be finding new strips for my brows and changing to warm wax for my underarms.
A beautiful orange-based red colour. Red Hot Tamale is the perfect red colour for summer. I find blue-toned reds can sometimes look a little out of place in summer, but this red is just gorgeous. I've stopped wearing it at the moment because it's winter where I am, but this is one of my ultimate nail polish staples. Lasts well with a good quality base coat and top coat. No shimmer, but a creme finish. It makes me happy when I look at my nails.
Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
lhendrix 5/28/2011 2:58:00 AM
I bought this set of brushes from Ecotools after reading all the great reviews here. The quality of the brushes are all great, reasonably soft, sturdy, haven't shed hair on me. The face brush is great for setting powder, but I prefer to use a smaller brush for the cheeks alone. Very soft! The eye shadow brush is nice, it's good for packing on colour, but is very stiff and it is hard to blend with. The concealer brush is probably my favourite from the set. Very soft. I don't use it for actual concealer, but I use it with powder to set the concealer on my face. It's not stiff at all like the shadow brush and is great for eyeshadow as well. The eyeliner brush I use only to fill in my brows and apply shadow to the lashline, but I can't fault it. Finally, the eyebrow groomer/lash separator is fine, haha, I don't really use it for anything other than combing my brows in place after showering. I'm looking to buy some more Ecotools brushes now, because these are so good and because I'm not made of money!
Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner

I was really surprised with the pigmentation of this product. It goes on the lid very smooth and creamy. The brush that comes with it works well, not quite thin enough to create a nice wing. It lasted really well on a night out, not transferring to my upper lid at all. I'm really happy with this product, definitely recommended! And I love the little pot it comes in <3

I really trust this deodorant. I love that it's a stick (I've never used one before, and I think it's amazing) and the staying power is great. Stops me sweating throughout the school day (unless it's REALLY hot, in which case, it can't be helped). I actually quite like the smell, it's smells like laundry powder or something, just very clean. Some people might think it a bit strong, but I like it. Recommend this.
Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
lhendrix 5/4/2011 4:29:00 AM
This is the best mascara I've ever used. True, I've probably only had five or six, but I really recommend this one! It holds a curl all day (7am-5pm). It lengthens and thickens my lashes, but doesn't clump. It also leaves them very soft and touchable. Originally I was really put off this mascara by the brush because I thought it'd be really clumpy, but as long as you drag off some excess product when you're pulling the wand out, it's amazingly not clumpy! I always buy waterproof, and this one smudges the tiniest tiniest bit under my eyes after a long day in hotter weather, but that's its only fault. Definitely recommend this one.
Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Angled Eyeliner Brush

I have been eyeing Ecotools brushes off for a while, and they were on sale a couple of weeks ago, so I bought a few. I do really like (i.e LOVE) this brush. I use it to fill in my brows and for putting colour on my lower lashline. It's not too stiff, but not too floppy (for want of a better word). I really recommend this brush - I'm really happy with the quality of Ecotools brushes.
Eye Makeup Remover -Simple - Conditioning Eye Make-Up Remover

Ok, so, I bought this for $12 at Priceline two weeks ago, and, dear Lord, what a complete waste of money. I hate writing bad reviews, but I think people should be warned of this one!! I don't have sensitive skin at all, but I have a Simple Toner which I like, so I thought the Makeup Remover would be nice too; but I couldn't have been more wrong. This stings my eyes (so much for being a skincare brand for sensitive skin), makes my skin red and plasticky, and does not remover even non-waterproof mascara. I hate this, I'm sorry, but it's true.
Gorgeous moisturiser! I've been using this for at least six months now and I've not used half the bottle. It's inexpensive for such a large bottle. Lovely fresh scent that doesn't linger for too long. I find that I can put this on after my shower and, unless it's a very hot day, I can put my clothes on straightaway without feeling gross. Absorbs well into my skin and keeps my skin lovely and smooth for the whole day. It tends to help even out my skintone on my legs as well, just as a bonus! It's perfect consistency, not runny but not too thick. No negatives that I can find, love it! :) The only reason this looses a lippy is because I have a tendency to reserve 5 lippies for phenomenal products.
Gorgeous colour - purple, silver, orange, gold, blue and green glitter all in one!! I have to apply three or so coats for opaqueness but it's worth it! Use a base coat - this and Absolutely Alice both have pretty terrible staying power. I love how this catches the sun - so fun :)
Is there a more happy colour than Absolutely Alice?! If there is, I haven't found it yet! A gorgeous blue with blue/silver glitter it is the epitome of Alice in Wonderland. I apply three to four coats for opaqueness. One lippy off for staying power - it chips badly; worst if you don't apply a base coat. I can literally pull off the whole nail of polish when I don't apply a base coat. I bought a set of the four from the collection in tiny little bottles so that I can try them all without paying full price and I'm so glad I did. Absolutely Alice is my favourite, followed by Mad as a Hatter - a multi-coloured glitter explosion! It's such a stand out colour - amaaazing! I love you OPI!! Favourite nail polish in a loooong time! Cute container too :)
Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Nude Blush ] [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this out of recommendation of a friend who loves it. First of all the colour did not suit my colouring (which is not the products fault, but mine). But I also dislike the formula of the lipstick. It has almost no staying power and settles into the fine lines of my lips very easily. It's only positive? It smells like watermelon. Sorry, but it didn't impress me in the least.
Mascara -Revlon - Beyond Natural Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
lhendrix 1/12/2010 5:59:00 AM
Possibly the worst mascara I've ever tried! I'm sorry, but it was really terrible. I bought waterproof brown because I wanted a natural mascara for summer. But it was SO clumpy. The rubber brush didn't impress me either. I will never buy this product again and I do not recommend it. For the price I paid for it, $24, I feel jibbed.
Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lucas' Papaw Ointment
lhendrix 12/12/2009 4:34:00 AM
This is my HG makeup product. I use it on my lips daily, to moisturise them, as a balm before I put lipstick on and just as a lipgloss. It's really cheap, so I have a tube in my school bag, a tube on my desk at home, a tube in my purse and a pot in my bathroom. I also recommend it to those of you who get dry and cracked skin on your hands in the winter, just pop it on before bed religiously and it heals throughout the night. It's shiney without being super sticky, it soaks into the skin and leaves them smooth, not flakey like Vaseline can sometimes do. I take it on school camp every year and I'm never without it. Proudly Aussie made, haha. I recommend it 100%, and so does my mum! oh, and I love how you open it too :)
I go throught this stuff so fast. I love it on those school mornings where you think "why didn't I wash my hair last night?". I love the smell of 'tropical', it's my favourite. My sister's always using it so I'm buying her some for Christmas, haha. The packaging is cute and it's a little expensive ($10 in Aus). I wouldn't use this for more than a couple of uses in a row, because the product builds up in your hair and it can get gross. I take this to sleepovers and use it in the morning and I love the tiny sizes you can get them in, stick it in your bag and away we go! I've also heard that they're bringing out ones for brown/black hair! I can't wait! No longer will I hear one of my friends say, "you've got a grey hair!!".
