Lip Treatments -LUSH - Lip Service Lip Balm
leynie 2/8/2013 4:43:00 AM
I will admit that the texture of this product is not the most convenient, but it is really worth it. This lip balm's main ingredient is cocoa butter, and like many other Lush products, it seems like it is used in its purest form, which explains why this lip balm is impossible to use without it being warmed up. With that said, I like to scrape a little chunk of it off and and as soon as I warm and massage it into my lips, its AMAZING. A lot of lip balms use more oils to make them easy to apply, but to me, are not nearly as moisturizing as this concentrated lip balm. This stuff is not greasy at all and really sinks into my lips and is great to use before you apply lipstick. Out of convenience and cleanliness I mostly use this as a night time lip balm or deep treatment (why this is not a five lippie item).

Polishes -Orly - Honeymoon in Style
leynie 8/9/2011 12:54:00 PM
This is a nice thing to throw on if you're looking for something subtle - this is definitely just an alternative to clear nailpolish or a nail polish you can use for a french manicure. Pretty, but skip it if you're looking for anything more than just adding a finish to naked nails.

Glorified Vaseline. I don't get the hype.

Cleansers -St. Ives - Apricot Face Wash -- Blemish and Blackhead Control
leynie 7/21/2011 2:27:00 AM
Not a miracle product, but keeps mild acne at bay without overdrying. I noticed that my bumps and whiteheads have not been as prevalent since using this at night about two months ago (also used with witchhazel toner). Best of all it's nice and cheap! I wish that the pump on the bottle didn't dispense so much product, but no matter. I am afraid that this is getting discontinued b/c I have not been able to find it ANYWHERE. However, I found a bunch of this stuff for $3 at my local Big Lots and stocked up - I suggest doing the same!!!

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Couture Eye Shadow Luxe - Label Whore
leynie 7/20/2011 11:36:00 PM
Too Faced just re-released their single shadows, so technically I'm reviewing Petals to the Metal Exotic Color Eyeshadow, but it's the same shade. I was afraid that this would make me look sick, but upon trying it on (I have neutral, NC/NW20 skin), it looked great and brought out the green in my eyes. You definitely need to use concealer for this, and maybe eye drops if you're tired. The formula is buttery and had pretty good staying power. This would probably look awesome over TFSI or the like. I definitely like this better than MAC's Club - it has more teal, smoother texture, and is less muddy.

Shampoo -Sunsilk - Anti-Poof Shampoo
leynie 8/26/2009 12:43:00 AM
I am so sad this is discontinued. This shampoo and conditioner was AMAZING. This left my thick and frizz-prone hair so smooth and soft - I was even able to walk out of the house with wet hair without fear of ending up with a full-on 'fro later on in the day. It smelled good, was dirt cheap, and was probably my HG shampoo/conditioner. Damn it. P.S.: Any recommendations for a good replacement?

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
leynie 6/17/2009 4:32:00 PM
AMAZING foundation! Well, almost. Its texture was lighter and more natural than regular foundation but provided more coverage than a tinted moisturizer and it didn't worsen my already oily skin - technically perfect right? To my dismay, after about 2 weeks of using this, my face was covered in bumps and whiteheads which have now developed into full-on breakouts even several weeks after I stopped using this. I really loved this foundation; I thought I had found my HG, but the breakouts stopped me in my tracks. :(

Mascara -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Mascara - Violight
leynie 1/25/2009 3:59:00 AM
I was pleasantly surprised when I used this. I've been looking for a cheap, wearable purple mascara, and I saw this in VS and decided to try it out. I was expecting the worst, but lo and behold, this mascara is amazing. It doesn't do anything too dramatic to my lashes, but it doesn't flake or smudge, and the formula is very smooth and light and not clumpy. Another great thing is that it comes of so easily with makeup remover - no harsh rubbing necessary. This is a lovely everyday mascara and the purple color is pleasantly subtle (though I do wish it was a bit more noticable). For $7.50, I'm definitely going to buy the other colors of these.

This is definitely not for you if you want a lot of hold or actual hari gel. This is really nice for a bit of natural and soft "taming" rather than hold. I love how whenever I use this my hair doesn't turn into as bad of a poof-ball that it usually does. The only thing that I hate about this is that for some reason it smells like hay! Maybe it smells like that because I combine it with other products, but it just really bothers me.

Concealers -Lancome - Maquicomplet (Complete Coverage Concealer)
leynie 8/15/2008 6:10:00 PM
Generally, this is a fabulous concealer. It's very moist and doesn't dry out my skin or cake like other concealers. It blends like a dream!!!! Coverage is fair, definitely not "complete coverage", so I only use it for undereye circles (even then I need to pile it on) and use MUFE's Full Cover Concealer on my scars and breakouts. I also wish that it came in a squeeze tube b/c the whole doe foot applicator seems really unsanitary to me.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge in Daybreak
leynie 7/11/2008 1:43:00 AM
HG! This is a great highlight color. It adds this fresh, lustre-y glow to my eyes while being really subtle, not to mention the fact that it's very pigmented and has a really smooth texture. Something about the packaging also gets me...it's so shiny and pretty! The staying power of this eyeshadow is pretty good as well, yet nothing I'm over the moon about. Regardless, that's not enough to keep me from buying this e/s again and again and again.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder
leynie 5/24/2008 2:34:00 AM
After reading so many rave reviews on this product, I decided to go ahead and try it. This did nothing out of the ordinary to tame any shine on my face - I tried it as a setting powder in the a.m. and as a blot powder in the afternoon and was oily 1/2 an hour later. I could have gotten the same results with any other translucent powder. Overall, I'm not impressed. EDIT 12/08: If not used as an actual blotting powder, this makes for a fantastic setting powder after I initially put on my makeup. It seems to keep my face from getting shiny too quickly and it goes on without being cakey or powdery. This is AMAZING as a sort of powder eyeshadow primer and I actually like it a lot better than any type of primer I've used before (and I've tried many). Now and then my eyeshadow does crease a bit, but for the most part, my eyeshadows stay pretty and pigmented all through the day.

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Shimmer cubes palette 06
leynie 5/24/2008 2:27:00 AM
Love, love, love this! This pallette is so great to just throw in your bag and go - all the shades can work for a day or night look and are just so pretty! The amount of shimmer in them is just right as well and they look amazing when applied wet. Unfortunately, they do not go on as smoothly as I would have liked, but hey, for that much product for such a reasonable price, I can deal with it. The only other drawback that comes to my mind would have to be that the packaging is such a hassle - there are way too many lids to deal with - a hinged package or something of that nature would be nice.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
leynie 1/21/2008 4:11:00 AM
This was AWFUL! I do not have sensitive skin and have never had a bad skin reaction to any acne treatments before I tried this one. Over the past two months, I've noticed that my skin had been acting up really bad and I have finally realized that this product was causing all the trouble. After using less than a pea-sized amount of this ointment, my face becomes completely swollen and my skin gets red and leathery -- not to mention that it did absolutely nothing for my zits. I'm sure this product could actually work, but only if the formula wasn't so strong.

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up
leynie 1/13/2008 1:00:00 AM
Pros: - incredible staying power - amazing shade selection - hygenic and convenient packaging - easy application (before it dries) Cons: - coverage is so-so - impossible to blend once dry - made all red spots and acne ashy and dark - CREASES LIKE A B*TCH!
