Love this. Rose shimmer is the color I bought, and no regrets. Great color, but natural shine. Not sticky at all. Nice smell, taste. A great gloss overall. Would totally recommend.
Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Mr. Pumice - Pumi Bar
lesley123 3/5/2012 12:20:00 AM
Thank you everyone who recommended this!!!! This is awesome. I didn't really think if would be so good, since they sell similar versions of these types of scrubbing blocks, or pumice stones everywhere...I love my Mr. Pumice!!! Feet have never been so smooth. I use it every other day, and I am very happy.
LOVE THIS!!!! Great volume and length, no smearing even after a full day at work or out at night. What else can you ask from a drugstore brand mascara! I have been looking for a reliable mascara for a while now - and this one is tops. I think in a blind test if compared to more expensive reputable mascaras this would be tops. I may not recommend this for everyday use for some people - provides very noticeable lashes - its not for that natural look. So exciting to try something on a whim and have it be fabulous.
Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser

Love this!!! Great for sensitive skin - even if acne/blemish prone. No Fragrance, gentle, nothing super fancy. But it does the trick. Feels like its left on your skin a bit after rinsing, but once you dry your face, you realize there really isn't anything left, so rinses really well. I have tried the standard cetaphil, and clinique cream cleanser, and neutrogena extra gentle, and probably every other gentle cleanser - and this is far superior. It also works well if you are easily irritated by using differin, retin A, or any drying treatments. I know its a litte expensive, but I find it lasts a long time. I always come back to this especially in the winter - Canada can be harsh on the skin when its -20. And in the summer, I barely need a moisturizer when I use this (which for me is a miracle). So for now its on my top 3 cleansers list - will always have this on hand. Big thumbs up - worth a try for dry, sensitive, even blemish prone skin, or anyone looking for something really gentle.
I love this blush! I am very fair, I can wear both cool and warm tones. But this is very neutral. It always looks good, stays on forever, lasts a really long time and I like the packaging. I have dropped it many times and it has never broken into a million pieces. I always go back to this color. Its a great blush. I have many Blushes, Christian dior, MAC, Cargo - So far I find Bobbi Brown - Desert Rose is the best, followed by Cargo in Catalina....
I generally really like penhaligons overall. And I love this fragrance, its clean, and fresh. Its a classic item. Whenever I am in a white t-shirt, and Jeans vibe - I usually put this one on. Yes I can see how people think its CK one-ish, but its got more layers, smells a little more sophisticated, and less chemically. I would buy again, and keep as part of my massive fragrance collection, If you are all about clean timeless functionality, not so much about florals....I would recommend checking this out.
Gels/Soaps -Nivea - Happy Time Cream Shower Bamboo Milk & Orange Blossom
lesley123 8/5/2010 12:32:00 AM
I don't know I must be the only one who didn't like this. Kind of left me greasy or leaves a film behind, and the smell - Too sweet!!!!! If you want that clean soap scented totally clean feeling, not for you. I am surprised to see people comparing it to Body shops Satsuma...which has a very different smell and texture. I love satsuma...not this though. If you like the more sweet, super moisturizing...you'd probably like it.
I bought this for my husband, as he has sensitive skin and has trouble shaving everyday - his face ends up raw. We both really like it! I find it very moisturizing for legs and underarms! And he loves it to shave with. Nice scent. I won't be going back to those cheap shaving gels...yuck, all of them are drying and irritating. This seems to be a better quality. Packaging helps you only squeeze out a bit at a time. Its a little expensive. Nivea makes a similar one for way less. But I like this one more. Would repurchase.
Tinted Moisturizer -Aveda - Aveda Inner-Light Mineral Tinted Moisture SPF15
lesley123 8/5/2010 12:18:00 AM
I really like this as well. I have combination skin, sometimes dry, sometimes oily and broken out. But sensitive. I also thought the color was a little dark initially when it went on but it sort of melts into your skin( I am extremely fair, most cosmetic lines don't have light enough colors for me.And I was worried that it would be a big greasy mess. When I apply, I don't apply with a sponge, but my hands. I rub my hands to warm it up and rub all over and into my skin, like a moisturizer. I do this with clean hands. Then use a concealer for any spots or undereye circles and a quick dusting of powder. Its very natural. This is a tinted moisturizer with Titanium Dioxide as the SPF. It feels greasy going on, but never makes me breakout and give me great sun protection. (I was suprised too, as I am the crazy person that reads ingredient list to make sure nothing icky in it, and with this the only thing that worried me was the SPF) It makes me think that all the chemical sunscreens are what bothers me, since, I can also use Clinique almost makeup, which is similar. Lately, even though its crazy hot and humid out, this has been the only thing my skin will take, and I don't get greasy when I use it. But I use a very light oil free moisturizer before. I would recommend some powder to set it though. I would recommend for anyone with sensitive skin (SPF is more suited), who can get dryish, that may even break out (Maybe from differin, or Retin A, or BP, or otherwise), that needs a very light cover, with a sunscreen. Its a great all in one product. Its like a light moisturizer, SPF and makeup in one. Hence not using like a million things on your skin. But if you need to put moisturizer, eye cream, primer, spf and then this, and then concealer, etc....not for you. And its not going to give you a lot of coverage - so don't look to it for that either. But it does even everything out. I would buy it again...and I like the smell too.
The color sensational Line is amazing. I am so impressed by these. I usually buy the expensive departement store lipsticks. But when I tried this, I just loved it. Creamy, yet good staying power, inexpensive, vast colors. No weird taste (which I find with some brands My color is yummy plummy, its a gorgeous mauve, plum color. I think I have been looking for a color like this my whole life!!!! I will be trying some more colors from this line!
Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Yummy Plummy
lesley123 8/4/2010 11:50:00 PM
I have to agree with everyone else on this one, the new color sensational line is amazing...and yummy plummy is a gorgeous color. Its creamy, great color, stays on very well. Its much nice than the usual drugstore lipsticks. It easily competes with likes of Dior and Estee Lauder. I am a lipstick, gloss junkie, I have so many, and I rarely give the drugstore brands a try anymore, mostly because they don't make a great mauve, plum colored lipstick. I have yet to ever find a color I loved from Revlon, or L'oreal (I hate the way L'oreal Tastes, and the texture), or Rimmel, or Covergirl. However, when they brought out the Mineral line I found a great color called Crushed Mauve (now disconntinued), and I bought a bunch, just in case.I was so impressed, I started checking back with Maybelline - to see if anything new. Well now they have come out with the new ones...and Yummy Plummy is the perfect color. I actually tried it one, got in my car, looked at it in the mirror and had to stop at the next store on my way home and get it. Maybelline - Impressive.....really impressive. The little drugstore line that could. Maybelline keeps putting out better and better stuff lately. Now I have to go back and try a whole bunch of other colors!!! And get a secret stash of yummy plummy!!!
Until I took the plunge and bought this concealer - I had yet to find one single Lancome product that I liked, and would purchase again, and trust me I have tried....Moisturizers, Cleasers, Glosses, Shadows, Mascaras. This was highly recommended in Paula Begouns book, and I see it all the time in Magazines....and I am really impressed! Its become the one concealer I go to everyday. It does not make me breakout, isn't too dry or too greasy, and I find it stays on well, and covers well without being to heavy. I use it for under my eyes and any blemishes. I especially like the packaging as its very hygenic. I hate the concealers with wands, as I keep sticking them in and out of the bottle with is not hygenic at all. This tube is nice, its sturdy and good to travel with. I bought this last September, and I have just really past the half way point too! I much prefer this to any of the MAC concealers which I have tried to use again and again, and just find the colors never really blend well, and they never really last.(MAC discontinued the pencil one which I really started to like last year) The only other concealer I ever really use other than this is L'oreal's True Blend, which I find also lasts - and it doesn't make me breakout either. But I am not a fan of the packaging. I would generally throw it out and get a new one every month, to make sure I wasn't spreading bacteria around. So it may be expensive initially, but its lasts for a long time. You only need a little. It does not make me break out, and its pretty good at covering up and staying put. I will purchase this again for sure.
I got this Mascara free in one of those gift packs from Smashbox. Goes on well.....sadly doesn't stay that way. It runs, runs runs...and smudges....would not recommend. Don't waste your money. Sticking with my cheap Covergirl Mascara.
I go back and forth with Dove Bars. Kind of a love hate relationship. I had not used them in a while and went back to them while on honeymoon (If in a tropical destination, I try to go with the simplest products, the sun seems to affect me badly and with all the sunscreens and sitting on the beach, Dove is a safe bet at the end of the day). And now I kind of like the bars again, Skin seems to be calmer, and less ruddy when I use it, not dry at all. They did not make me breakout and I gave them a good month. I like the unscented (Which never comes in the big sizes at costco or Walmart, and the regular scent) For some reason the Sensitive bar feels weird, it does not leave my face as soft as the others - it seems to dry me out more. Many years ago my derm recommended using dove and said its all your face really needs in terms of cleansing, and while it won't change your skin, it will just gently clean it, and that is all most of us need. So whenever my skin is irritated or does not want to behave...its a good go to. Plus, nice to use the same soap on your body as your face, makes life really simple. So I giving them a positive review....I would buy again they are dirt cheap. But I prefer the Unscented, rather than the Sensitive. It most cases I will probably get tired and change to something else, but for now working well. Plus, my skin has been really sensitive lately, and the dove bars have helped improve the situation.
Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
lesley123 4/30/2010 11:49:00 PM
I really liked this foundation when I got a sample from the counter. It truly stayed on all day, and unlike most long wearing foundations that make my combination skin dry, this wasn't bad at all. There is no fragrance. I hate walking around smelling my makeup all day. I just loved how when i got home, my makeup was identical to when I left the house, and the coverage was great, not to heavy, but really covered everything up. Too bad though...the colors!!!! I am very fair, and there are really no shades for fair, they just need one or 2 more additions to the colors. I didn't end up buying it - just too orangy and dark for me. But I would rush out and get tomorrow if better colors were available...too bad.....I guess my search continues, at least I didn't spend money on it. (which is another great thing about Lauder - they give you these samples now to take home and try for a few days...love it, ever company should do this). So if you have combination skin( If you are dry, this might not be good), and want a light feeling good coverage foundation, and you don't have fair or light skin, this would be a great pick.
