Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Teint Parfait - Complexion Enhancer #7
rated 5 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 3:55:00 PM

I use teint parfait #7 instead of foundation. It works well to correct any redness I have on my face and even out my skintone. The texture is very light and the scent is very very nice. Like the other teint parfaits, this does not provide any coverage, so if you have blemishes, you will need a concealer to cover them up. But this complexion enhancer is very nice on days when you don't want to use heavy makeup.

Lotions/ Creams -Stila - Creme Bouquet Body Mousse
rated 5 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 3:50:00 PM

I like the Creme Bouquet fragrance, so naturally, I like the body mousse too. This cream is very moisturizing but not thick, it's more 'fluffy'. It's not as light as mousse, but definitely not thick like butter. It absorbed fast too. I am indifferent about the packaging, it's glass and shaped like a bucket with plastic lid. The glass makes it really happy, so it's not one to carry around. And the bucket means you have to dip your fingers into the mousse to take some product out. Not the most hygienic in my opinion. I love to use this mousse after bath and before I go to bed. The smell is very soothing for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Paul & Joe - Hand Cream -- Creme Pour Les Mains
rated 4 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 3:04:00 PM

Paul & Joe has the nicest packaging! It's so girly and vintage. I have this hand cream in my bag. The tin is very pretty and looks so nice when you take it out of your bag. You don't get a lot of product for the amount you pay, but it is luxurious. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the scent is very nice, refreshing, and not too highly perfumed, which is what I like. It does a good job as a hand cream, moisturizes without any stickiness at all, which is great when I'm out of the house.

Scrubs -Origins - Paradise Found Balinese Body Glow [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 2:59:00 PM

I love this scrub. It's so tropical like a Pina Colada. This scrub sloughs off dead skin well. My skin is so smooth and more glowy after. The scent is also divine. It's so fruity, but not fake plastic fruity. The price is rather expensive and other cheaper scrubs can also do the job, but it is well worth it just for the scent. It's like holiday in a shower.

Palettes -Stila - Orient Lotus Bloom Palette (Spring 2005)
rated 3 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 12:15:00 PM

I'll start off with reviewing the packaging of this palette. I LOVE IT!! The packaging is in a metal compact with a click lock fastening. Very sturdy and durable. Unlike Stila's normal cardboard packaging. It also has a very cute design on top of the palette. The palette also has a mirror inside, which is another big plus, especially when you're in the go. No applicator is included though.

The palette has 3 eye color (liner, wash, & lid) and a cheek color.
1st eye shadow:
This is a shimmery chocolate color. The size of the pan is smaller than the other two eye shadows as this color is for lining. I'm very disappointed at this particular eye shadow. The color is not pigmented enough for a liner. And the the texture is rather powdery too. The shimmer is not noticeable.

2nd eye shadow:
This is a medium pink color. The pink is neutral, so it will definitely suit a wide range of skintone. The shimmer is fine, but noticeable. Texture is good, it's soft and blendable.

3rd eye shadow:
This is a shimmery pinky white wash color. Very very pretty color. Texture is the same as the pink eye shadow. The shimmer is noticeable but not too much. My favorite out of everything in the palette.

Blush:
This is a shimmery pink blush. The shimmer is not very noticeable and I find the blush to be quite pigmented. Just one sweep and you have enough color on your cheeks. The size of the pan is also much bigger than the rest.

Lip Gloss -Guerlain - Divinora - Kisskiss gloss Abricot Gourmand #40
rated 3 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 10:55:00 AM

This coral gloss has smooth texture and good staying power for a lip gloss. It's also not sticky. The color is also very flattering on a lot of people, it's coral but it has pink in it. The shimmer is also very fine. The consistency of the gloss reminds me of the Chanel Glossimers as I find it to be a bit thick.

My only complaint is that it is so highly fragranced, as are most Guerlain's products in my experience. I wish Guerlain would make the fragrance in their cosmectic products more subtle cause some days I cannot even stand the scent. The scent does go away few minutes after application, but I find that the fragrance is so strong that I feel like I should mention it. Packaging wise, it's elegant, but rather bulky in my opinion.

Eye Shadow -Yves Saint Laurent - Ombres Vibration Duo #31
rated 3 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 1:49:00 AM

This duo consists of a bronze color that looks more like olive green in my opinion and a really light pink. Both colors are shimmery, but not glittery shimmery. The shimmer is very fine. The texture of the eye shadow is excellent. It's very soft and silky. They apply true to the color in the pan and they blend well.

The packaging is also the typical YSL packaging, very sleek and elegant. It's in a black case with a mirror inside. Two types of sponge applicator is also included.

The only reason I will not buy this duo again is because the bronze color makes my eyes look really tired. Nothing to do with quality at all. For reference, I am FFF NW30, Px Traceless Level 3, Tarte Smooth Operator Veil.

Mascara -Clarins - Double Fix
rated 4 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/23/2006 1:30:00 AM

This is a life saver for me. Most mascaras, especially non waterproof, always flake and smudge on me. And my curls never stay in place. When I start using this, I can use even non wp mascara because this really helps to make the mascara stay in place. No more mascara under my eyes! It also helps to hold my curl longer. Now, I can try mascara with other benefits than just for holding my curl.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Mango Lip Glaze
rated 1 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/8/2006 4:15:00 AM

This is the lipglaze from the Re:Orient Spring Collection that is complementary to the Lotus Bloom palette. The lip glaze is a beautiful rosy pink color with gold shimmer in the tube, but on my lips, it lacks pigmentation, it looks like clear gloss. For the price tag, it certainly is not worth the money. I can find much better glosses with that price tag.

Eyeliner -Guerlain - Divinora Eye Pencil
rated 4 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 6:09:00 PM

I have this eye liner in Brun. It's a universal brown color that I think will look good in just about anyone. The texture is very soft, so it doesn't tug my eyes when I use it. Staying power is pretty good too. An all round good eye liner. Packaging wise, it's very elegant. It's pencil kohl, but the cap is the signature gold Guerlain cap which is the same as the Kiss Kiss gloss cap. Will definitely repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Yves Saint Laurent - Fards A Paupieres 4 Couleurs
rated 5 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 5:19:00 PM

This is a limited edition palette with 4 shimmery pastel colors. The size of the palette is the same as the eye shadow duo, so each individual eye shadow is smaller than the size of the individual eye shadow in the duo - about 3/4 the size of the individual eye shadow in the duo. As usual, a double ended sponge applicator is included. The palette retails for $45 in the US and about $80-90 in Australia. All the colors are very shimmery with micro glitters that are very finely milled so you don't see big speckles of glitters.

The first color is shimmery white.
The second color is a shimmery pink with a purple undertone. The intensity of the pink is between a light and a medium pink I think.
The third color is a shimmery baby blue.
The last color is a shimmery peachy beige.

The texture of these shadows is very silky and soft, it's almost like butter. They are not that highly pigmented considering they are pastel colors, but I find the blue to be the most highly pigmented. This palette is beautiful, both to look at and to wear. I love using it for a night time look as I think the shimmer is a bit too much for a daytime look. Will definitely repurchase when I finish.

Shampoo -Fresh - Milk & Rose Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 4:58:00 PM

I have oily hair and Milk & Rose is a good daily shampoo for me. It cleans my hair without overstripping it. The texture is a bit thick and lathers well. The only thing that I can't stand about the shampoo is the scent! While I like the rose scent, I cannot stand the coconut scent (from the coconut oil). The coconut scent is not that strong, but I really dislike coconut scent, so having to smell this all through my shower is not a very enjoyable experience for me. Other than that, I think this is a decent shampoo for daily use. The price is also okay considering how little you use each time, but that is also the case with most high end shampoos in my experiece, e.g. Phyto & Kerastase, that a little can go a long way.

Hair -Phyto - Phytomist
rated 4 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 4:33:00 PM

I use Phytomist everytime I shampoo without using a conditioner. My hair can be somewhat frizzy after I wash them, but Phytomist, when used the correct amount, will eliminate the frizz and make the hair soft without weighing them down. I also like that my hair seems to be easier to style when I spray this on after shampoo.

Like I mentioned before, using the correct amount is crucial when using this. My hair is about 8cm (around 3 inch) below my shoulder, not very thick, and quite oily. I usually spray the Phytomist to the ends of my hair, and then I sprayed about 2 times on my palm to distribute to the rest of my hair. If I use too much, my hair will look oily. The scent is also very nice. When I use Phytomist, I don't even use the hair dryer (I'm trying to minimize pressure to my hair). I do find that when I use this, my hair becomes oily a little faster than when I don't use anything, hence I'm giving a 4 star instead of 5.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pollen (frost) - Madame B. collection
rated 3 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 4:02:00 PM

On the pan, Pollen looks like a warm yellow shimmer color. On my hand, it looks less warm, more neutral nude color that you can use as a wash or highlight. The texture is rather chalky in my opinion, but it is a good basic color to have in your collection.

Skincare - Face -Shu Uemura - Depsea water
rated 3 of 5
lemon_jelly 5/7/2006 3:48:00 PM

I have this in Rose, Mint, and Lavender. It sprays a very fine mist and I spray it on my face when I feel dehydrated (especially on planes), as well as on my brush and foundation sponge when I need to dampen them. In my opinion, these sprays are not a necessity as much as it is a luxury. Evian spray will do the same job for less $. But if the scent is a priority for you and you're willing to shell out the extra $ for it, these Depsea waters are the way to go. They smell beautiful.
