Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - A Lab on Fire - What We Do in Paris Is Secret
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 12/13/2012 2:09:00 PM

WWDIPIS is a soft, powdery, honeyed floral with a sweet cherry-almond and vanilla base. The powdery heliotrope and the cherry-almond are competing for the spotlight in the beginning, but after a while the powdery notes win and the cherry takes a break. The cherry never leaves, it just softens a bit and adds a sort of "tang" to the composition. All throughout, the honeyed florals whirl around and entwine all the notes together and create a cozy blanket of fragrance that hugs you and enchants others. A perfect comfort fragrance!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Hilde Soliani- Conaffetto
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 11/29/2012 8:38:00 PM

To me, Conaffetto smells like a heavenly combination of orange blossoms and marshmallows. If you indulge in candied yams during the holidays like I do, then you are very familiar with the sweet and creamy smell of melted marshmallows. Take that sugary smell of melted marshmallows and mix it with orange blossoms and you have Conaffetto. I don't pick up on the bitterness and dryness of almonds too much - it's very mild here. On me, Conaffetto is mostly a sweet, sugary floral. Sillage is really strong when first applied, but after 15-20 minutes it settles down nicely. Lasting power is above average. I get 6-8 hours from 2 spritzes. This beauty is perfect for cooler weather, snuggling, and daydreaming :o)

Fragrances -Le Labo - Vanille 44
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 8/22/2012 8:56:00 PM

Vanille 44, like other Le Labo creations, has a misleading name. The name would have you believe that vanilla dominates in the fragrance, but it doesn't. The vanilla is *technically* there, but it's playing peek-a-boo and hiding most of the time. Vanille 44 opens with bitter and cool aldehydic citrus on top of soft amber and woody incense. The citrus softens a bit as the fragrance progresses, but no drastic development from there. The aldehydes give the scent a fizzy cola carbonation feel the entire duration of the scent, so I completely understand the comments about root beer and cream soda. Sillage is above average and lasting power is phenomenal - 24 hours on me! Vanille 44 is a nice, safe scent, but I can see many vanilla fans being disappointed. If you're not expecting vanilla when you sniff this, then you may enjoy it more at first sniff. I am a vanilla fan and was disappointed at first, but now I love it. It's a great vanilla to wear in the heat.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Profumum- Dolce Acqua
rated 2 of 5
leeyah87 1/14/2012 3:04:00 PM

I had high hopes for Dolce Acqua because luckyscent's description sounded so delicious. Unfortunately, the opening smells *just* like cherry chloraseptic spray on me. Ack! It brought back bad memories of being sick and having to spray that stuff down my throat. The dry down smells like pure suntan oil. Confetto (Profumum's other almond scent) also smells like suntan oil on me. Too bad. I will stick to Lea and Jour de Fete for my almond cravings.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Roca Parfums Lemon Cloud
rated 4 of 5
leeyah87 1/14/2012 2:56:00 PM

Lemon Cloud opens with a bright, slightly sweet lemon - no sharp edges at all. For being inspired by a dessert, it is not too sweet or sugary at all (unlike Fresh Sugar Lemon, which I find very sweet and sugary). There is something very comforting about it and I think luckyscent's description of it being "gentle" is very accurate. On me, the dry down turns softly musky and slightly creamy, but not too much - the lemon still remains cheerful. I don't get any milky notes (thank goodness), but I do get a *touch* of custard. Very nice! I'm giving this 4 lippies instead of 5 because Creed Sublime Vanille is still my favorite creamy lemon-vanilla scent :o)

Fragrances -Creed - Sublime Vanille
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 12/31/2011 10:00:00 PM

Sublime Vanille always puts a smile on my face each time I wear it. It opens with creamy vanilla and a burst of lemon. The lemon is not screechy or astringent; rather, it is sweet without being sugary. As the scent develops, the lemon softens and the vanilla gets creamier, but somehow the vanilla remains uplifting and never veers into candy territory. When I wear Sublime Vanille to work, my co-worker always inhales deeply and says, "you smell so heavenly". It is true that this scent has a simple composition, but there is something about this simplicity that I find immensely wearable...and addicting! I find myself craving it everyday and not wanting to wear anything else. This scent is definitely full bottle worthy for me, but unfortunately, I cannot afford the $575 price tag. It is very reasonably priced if you break it down per ml or per ounce, but I just cannot afford to buy that much juice at one time. I emailed Creed asking that they make this scent available in a smaller, more practical sized bottle, so I hope they consider it. Sillage and lasting power are actually very good on me. However, I admit that the very first time I ever sampled it, I could not smell it. I think my nose was burnt out from over-sampling :op I have a decant and use two sprays and I'm good for 6-8 hours, depending on how humid it is. I love this scent for its modesty - it is such a pleasure to wear :o)

Fragrances -Diptyque - Eau Duelle
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 12/31/2011 9:20:00 PM

Aaah, Eau Duelle...it is so comforting and cozy. The opening is reminiscent of a vanilla gin martini - herbally, dry, with a hint of creamy vanilla. I get a lot of cardamom and juniper at the beginning, which soften as the scent dries down, but they never completely disappear. Those two notes for me is what keeps this scent refreshing and exhilarating. The vanilla becomes more prominent as the scent develops, but this is not your typical vanilla. It kind of reminds me of the vanilla used in Atelier Vanille Insensee. In fact, I would definitely put them in the same category. I am very impressed by Eau Duelle because it has managed to change the way I think of vanilla and how it is used in perfumery. Ever since I joined MUA, I have discovered and fallen in love with perfumes that I never thought I would ever like. When a perfume has the ability to surprise you and make you realize things about yourself that you didn't recognize before, well, that's how you know you've found something special.

Fragrances -Gale Hayman - Delicious Cotton Candy
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 9/24/2011 12:22:00 AM

I never really appreciated this perfume until I had the chance to eat warm, freshly made cotton candy. The scent that emanates from warm and fresh cotton candy smells exactly like this perfume. I agree that this perfume is similar to Pink Sugar, but Delicious Cotton Candy is blended better and doesn't have that disturbing burnt note to it like Pink Sugar does. I wear this whenever I want to remember the smell of the fresh cotton candy I ate or whenever I feel girly or feel like being cuddly. I wouldn't wear this to work, but I might wear it out if the weather is cool enough. As for the bottle, I actually think it's cute, but I wish the cap fit on tighter. I'm a cat lover, so I enjoy looking at the clear pink kitty on the top :o)

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Bourbon French Parfums Vanille
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 3/30/2011 12:12:00 AM

Bourbon French Vanille is a soft, delicate, and scrumptious vanilla perfume. It smells like a whipped vanilla and almond cloud. So heavenly! It is very similar to Anastasia, but with more yummy vanilla added in. Like Anastasia, it would be a great scent for snuggling :o) I own both in parfum strength, so I'm not sure how it differs from the edt or the cologne. The Bourbon French line was such a great discovery and I'm so happy to have found these scents! Thanks MUA!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Bourbon French Parfums Anastasia
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 3/30/2011 12:03:00 AM

Anastasia is my favorite almond perfume so far. The almond is not harsh like it is in Lea, which smells like almond extract to me. Instead, Anastasia is soft, pillow-y, and dreamy! It smells like a mix of almonds, vanilla, and the softest of musks. The almond note never smells like play-doh or like cherries, which sometimes happens with almond perfumes. It's a great scent to wear when you feel like cuddling or getting cozy. Anastasia is similar to Vanille, which I also love. Vanille smells like Anastasia with a lot more yummy vanilla added in. I own both in parfum strength, so I'm not sure how it differs from the edt or the cologne. The Bourbon French line was such a great discovery and I'm so happy to have found these scents! Thanks MUA!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 3/6/2011 4:47:00 PM

I am in LOVE with Vanille Insensee! Just for clarification purposes, "Insensee" does not refer to incense. Its literal translation from French to English is "insane". As described by the creators of Atelier Cologne, Vanille Insensee is a vanilla "out of its senses". In other words, it is a vanilla that is fresh and unexpected. And indeed it is! Vanille Insensee is a dry, woody vanilla with a breath of freshness. The woodiness in this is very light - you won't feel like you are in a woodshop. The opening consists of citruses and subtle spice. As those notes dry down, I am left with a soft, creamy, slightly sweet vanilla - not vanilla cake, but more vanilla bean. This fragrance (as well as the entire line) remains fresh and light throughout its wear, which is something I love. It is never heavy or cloying as long as you don't overdo it. For me, ONE spritz on the back of the neck lasts all day - no joke. On me, Vanille Insensee dries down to a vanilla infused creamy black milk tea with just a mere whisper of woods. Lasting power is great (8+ hours) and sillage is incredible. Perfect non-offensive everyday scent and office friendly. Vanille Insensee never fails to get me compliments. Definitely a favorite of mine!

Fragrances -By Kilian - Love

Unfortunately, this DOES smell like pink, fruity bubblegum. I didn't want to believe it when I read the reviews, but it really is true! In fact, my fiance told me I smelled exactly like Bazooka Bubblegum, which is a perfect comparison. Too bad, I was hoping to like it! :o(

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Profumum - Vanitas
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 3/17/2010 12:12:00 AM

Profumum Vanitas is a gorgeous "chilly" vanilla. If you are a vanilla fan, then this is a must try. Yes, it's a sweet vanilla, but the myrrh gives it a cool and crisp aspect, which keeps it from becoming sickly sweet. The sillage is strong, but it's not in-your-face; rather, it's quiet and slowly tiptoes out into the spotlight every so often. The lasting power is phenomenal and I only have to apply once in the morning and it'll last all day.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Indult - Tihota
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 3/4/2010 10:43:00 PM

I must admit, I did not think that I would ever find a vanilla so uncomplicated in the most perfect way that would make me fall head-over-heels in love, but I have! I most definitely have with Indult's Tihota. Its composition is simple - just vanilla and musk. However, it's the balance of the two notes that is so impressive. Thanks to the nose of Francis Kurkdjian, we are able to experience simplistic beauty at its finest. Tihota is sweet and smooth, but not cloying at all. There is a certain darkness to it that keeps it from smelling like cake. The lasting power is phenomenal! I apply it in the morning and it lasts all day. Its presence is soft, but never abandons you. I read in a review that this fragrance creates more of an aura-like quality rather than actual sillage. I totally agree! It emanates from you like a soft glow, as if you're being accompanied by an invisible entourage, if you will. Simply gorgeous!

Fragrances -Chloe - Chloe (EDP new)
rated 5 of 5
leeyah87 1/24/2010 4:32:00 PM

Chloe 2008 EDP is gorgeous! It's the first perfume that I fell in love with at first sniff. It's a soft, powdery rose and I find it suitable for all occasions. I spritz the underneath of my hair once and it lasts all day. It is pleasant, non-offensive (unlike my bottle of Flowerbomb) and doesn't punch anyone in the face when I walk into the room. It's so beautiful and I feel pretty when I wear it. Along with Jalaine Silk, this is one of the most complimented perfumes I own.
