Eye Makeup Remover -Nivea - Eye Make-Up Remover
lechickpea 5/22/2013 4:17:00 PM
So, I guess I'm in the clear minority here since I really love this product. To be clear, I'm reviewing the white bottle of remover, the thin lotion consistency. I find this remover both highly effective, but also soothing and cooling on the eye. I use this on a cotton ball, and it removes all my layers of eyeshadow, eye primer, liner, and mascara with little effort. Just a tip- no need to squeeze the bottle to get this stuff out, just tip it over and the lotion is runny enough that it will come out, if you squeeze you might have a mess on your hands. My experience with this stuff has always been positive, and I would happily buy this product again. I should add that I never wear waterproof mascara, and I have never had sensitive skin or eyes at all, so this wouldn't be the first time that others found something irritating and I haven't had an issue.

Lipstick -MAC - Craving
lechickpea 5/8/2013 8:43:00 PM
One of my very favourite lipsticks from MAC. Creamy, opaque, comfortable on the lip, and most importantly, a gorgeous colour. I'm not sure if I would automatically pick something up described as 'plum', but this is very pinky as well, so it's flattering and girly. I like this lipstick year round.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
lechickpea 5/5/2013 10:38:00 PM
I never would have expected when I bought this that it would become my absolute #1 favourite, special occasion, have-to-look-my-very-best foundation. I've had this for a long time, and I have come to adore it. I think I'm so taken by this foundation because of how incredibly smoothly and flawlessly it blends over the skin- it kind of has that smooth silky texture of a primer. I generally use this without a primer first because of that. I know some people have issues with colour matching, but I haven't had any problems. Sand Beige works well on my skin (for reference, I'm around an NC20, "Sand" in Estee Lauder Double Wear). I haven't noticed any oxidization either, and I'm oily skinned. It stays true to what you expect from the 'Colorstay' line, in that it is wonderfully longwearing. I think where it parts from the original colorstay is that it blends so much more easily. I think Combo, oily, and dry skins could all use this foundation without issue. Photographs beautifully, too! Not wild about the packaging. It's a fancy looking and weighty glass jar- very chic, but impractical to easily and hygenically get at the product. I would also say that if you hear the word 'whipped' and are expecting a light, whipped cream type product, you're mistaken- to me, it's more like chocolate pudding.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Lady Gaga - Fame

The packaging and black liquid are gorgeous and fab (and I love gaga), but I really don't like the fragrance. It's bleh. Not particularly unique. Doesn't make you smell good, just like- that girl's wearing perfume. So many better fragrances out there, I was so disappointed in this.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection Core Collection

I was so so happy to see this, along with the Real Techniques travel set, at my Wal Mart in Toronto. No surprise here- but these brushes are wonderfully soft and effective makeup brushes.

Yahooooo! Can I join the hallelujah choir of Canadians who are pumped that this is available in Wal-Mart now? I was totally unsurprised that these were soft as hell, fluffy, and wonderful at applying power and cream products, since I've heard so many awesome things about these brushes. I particularly love the crease brush for applying my Bobbi Brown corrector under my eyes.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Quenched
lechickpea 4/15/2013 8:13:00 PM
Mehhh. It's like putting really fruity (in a good way) smelling vaseline on your lips. Temporarily makes your dry/chapped lips feels better, but definitely doesn't sink in and moisturize or heal. Feels kinda greasy and slides off easily. Not impressive in the least. One of the other reviews says it tastes bad, IMO it tastes like nothing (smells yummy though).

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
lechickpea 4/5/2013 3:53:00 AM
I don't like this stuff. When you first get it, it's a very full coverage concealer. But in my experience, it slides right off you after a while, and doesn't set to a nice matte finish. I also never managed to make it look nice and natural and really blend in with my makeup. It creases horribly under the eyes, but I have other concealers that crease which I like for the face only- this stuff, not so much. After you own it for a while, it starts to separate. Then it separates more. Now when I open it, pure oily liquid pours out and the completely un-usable thick paste comes out afterward. Blech. I've heard this stuff compared to the Kat Von D tattoo concealer, which I also own, and even though they're both full-coverage, I really don't think they're comparable past the similar packaging.

Eye Shadow -Make Up For Ever - 168
lechickpea 3/4/2013 1:30:00 PM
I SO love this colour. I know it has a bit of a cult following, so I'm surprised no one has reviewed it yet. It's an incredibly unique and beautiful medium green-teal shade that catches your eye and looks incredibly flattering if worn correctly. It's shimmery, easy to blend, pigmented, and is gorgeous on my brown/hazel eyes. I'm usually a neutral girl but I love green as well, and this one is at the top of my list. One issue that I'm not happy with- I bought it in the pan form, and it doesn't magnetize to freestyle palettes.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Glow
lechickpea 3/4/2013 1:23:00 PM
Ughh my sister wore this all through high school and the smell grossed me out then, and it still does now. I don't know if this is just me, but this smells like the bitter part of orange skin. It smells particularly bad if you're sweating at all- the combination makes me gag. I find the bottle kind of childish and garish as well. I love JLo though!

Mascara -Too Faced - LashGasm
lechickpea 12/27/2012 4:27:00 AM
I have no patience for mascara that smudges and flakes under my eyes, and this one was worse than most. I don't want to look at myself in the mirror after a few hours and see black mascara rings under my eyes- bleh. It's nice and black and doesn't get too clumpy, but you can do better for both length and volume at the drugstore. Overpriced, nothing special, I regret buying.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Clip Fancy Hair Extensions
lechickpea 11/30/2012 1:18:00 AM
Not only *would* I buy this product again, I'm already planning my next order. I love love love how glamorous my extensions are- I ordered the 300 gram indian hair set with the body wave texture in 14-18 inches. I would say they came closer to the 18 inch length, and are beautifully soft and thick. I find they shed less when you're combing them through than the other set I bought (from SKR Hair). The real advantage this company gives you is with all the choices, in both the origin of the hair (Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, etc.) but more importantly, in the texture. The bodywave texture is beautiful for someone like me that wants the extensions to blend naturally with curly hair. I intend on trying the Spanish wave set next! I also sent the owner Raylene a bunch of emails with tonnes of questions- trying to figure out the right choice for me- and she was so lovely and patient with all my questions. Truly excellent customer service. Can't recommend enough! You're going to pay more than many other companies, but for someone like me that wants thicker wefts and doesn't have straight hair, it was very worth it.

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Full-Finish Lipstick Wanna?
lechickpea 10/25/2012 10:05:00 AM
This has become my new favourite lipstick colour. This is the most beautiful, flattering deeper (but not dark) raspberry, slightly plum colour. It's so hard to find swatches of this online, and it doesn't seem to be a hugely popular shade. But this is a wonderful option if you want a noticeable lip colour without going full-on with a red or something. The application is flawless, since the formula is wonderfully pigmented and creamy, and glides on easily, without drying out my lips. Perfect for the day or during the evening. Canadians- if your Shoppers carries Benefit in the beauty boutique, they carry this shade- that's where I found it :)

Makeup Brushes -Urban Decay - Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush
lechickpea 10/4/2012 12:50:00 PM
Fantastic brush for liquid foundation. It was made for the UD Naked Skin Foundation, which I don't have, but it still works wonderfully with whatever I use it with- including thicker products like the Kat von D lock it and Revlon Colorstay. The bristles are synthetic, very soft, and dense. The overall brush is somewhat small- smaller than say, the Sigma F80- but it allows you to get into the nooks and crannies of your face a little bit better. Overall, a great brush to evenly distribute foundation without streaks.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
lechickpea 10/2/2012 12:00:00 PM
I genuinely love this. On my oily, acne-prone skin, this is one of those rare products that seem to show immediate improvements after the first 2 or 3 uses. It's not a miracle product by any means- I still have acne- but it does seem to help dry out active breakouts, and speed up the healing process. I see some people recommend to limit using this mask to avoid over-drying, but for my skintype (I'm not generally sensitive to most products), I can use this everyday without a problem.
