Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder

I like the feel of the product. It is finer than any other powder I've used. Unlike what others have said, I can't even feel it after I've put it on. The problem is, the makeup has a weird tint to it after I put it on. I've been using the Creamy Natural. It makes my face look a bit dirty, but I get the feeling that it's the product, not just the shade I chose. The biggest problem is that it looks a bit shimmery/dewy after I've put it on. I have oil-prone skin, so when I put makeup on it needs to be completely matte, otherwise I know it won't stay put for long. After about two hours, this product begins to wear off and my face looks super shiny. I tried skipping the moisturizer before I put it on, my the effect is just as bad. I had high hopes for this product, since I've had good luck with Physician's Formula in the past. Oh well, another waste of money like every powder or foundation I've bought in the last few months.

Powder -Maybelline - PureStay Powder Foundation

I have come to the realization that liquid foundation will likely never work on my oily skin. The longest I've had liquid foundation last on my skin is probably about 3 hours. Then it oxidizes, wears off, etc. I have a lot of trouble with acne, especially because it takes forever to heal completely. I get a lot of scarring, and need a foundation with good coverage. The only foundation that has ever given me decent results is CG's pressed mineral powder foundation. Since that's been discontinued, I decided to try this Maybelline foundation. I'm not completely sold on it, partially because the Buff color is too orangey on me. It doesn't look terrible, but it's not the right color. The product seems decent. The coverage is not as good as I had hoped, but it's better than liquid foundation. It also stays put pretty well. I've had to reapply to my T-zones after a few hours, but that's about it. I will buy this again in a different color, but my concern is that none of them will be right. I am never the lightest color in any line of makeup, and it seems the only color lighter than Buff is Ivory. I'm afraid of going a shade darker, because it might be even more orangey. All in all, this is a decent product for oily skin, and I plan on trying a different shade, and updating this review later. For now, it gets 3 lippies from me.

Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless

I've been in search of a foundation or powder that provides me with coverage as good as Cover Girl's Trublend Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation. The coverage on this is excellent. I have acne scarring that takes time to cover up, but with this I don't even need to use concealer. The color match is decent too. Others have mentioned trying a shade or two darker than you would usually use. It might run a bit light, but I bought this in Creamy Natural, which is usually my closest match. CG's colors aren't all that consistent, as this shade is sometimes perfect for me, but other times too dark or too orange. So far (I've only used it two days) it appears to be just right. I wanted to love this product because of the excellent coverage, but I do not like the finish. My skin is oily, and if the makeup doesn't have a matte finish, my skin won't just "glow" or look "dewy", it flat out shines. I wore this makeup all day yesterday and and used oil blotting sheets three times, and a bit of the makeup came off onto the sheets (which does not usually happen for me). However I didn't have a problem with it rubbing off onto my clothes or anything throughout the day, and it took awhile to fade noticeably. For now I will continue to use this because I need the coverage, but if I did not need the coverage I would use something cheaper and more matte. This is simply too pricey for me to use continuously when I have to use powder on top of it. Well, forget about all the good things I said. After wearing this several days straight, I have realized it's more trouble than it's worth. It's noticeably streaky, and for some reason is no longer providing me with much coverage. To top it off, while the color match is good when I first put it on, it seems to darken after being on my skin for 5 minutes. Cover Girl, you have once again failed me. If you're going to sell crappy products and get rid of your best ones, at least make sure the crappy ones are dirt cheap.

Powder -Cover Girl - TruBlend Minerals Pressed Mineral Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
leahs84 6/2/2010 4:14:00 AM
I discovered a couple months ago that this had been discontinued, and I am still quite upset about it. Even more now that I have been purchasing and throwing out other products in search of a replacement. Now, this was by no means the greatest product, but it saved me from having to use both a liquid foundation and a powder. It was the best color match I've been able to find, because as others have stated, it had pinkish undertones and the color went on lighter than expected. Other CG products in "Creamy Natural" have been too orange or too dark for my skin, and the next lighter color is too light. This actually concealed my blemishes pretty well, and kept my face from getting shiny. I even got compliments on my skin whilst wearing this, as it was not noticeable that I was wearing makeup. The only real con about this product was that it rubbed off fairly easily, and I would have to touch it up at least once or twice throughout the day. Also, the packing could have been improved. There was no mirror, and the brush included in the compact was useless, which meant buying my own sponge to use instead. If anyone finds a powder foundation with the buildable coverage that this one had, please let me know! I have had no luck at all, not even with other CG powder foundations.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
leahs84 5/23/2010 12:25:00 AM
Wow. I was running low on mascara and thought I would check the reviews here before buying a new one, because I am often disappointed if I don't. It's been getting high reviews, and I liked the orange lash blast so I figured I'd give it a try.The purple tube looks awesome, but this mascara was hugely disappointing. It fails to give me length or volume, and it took about 5 coats before I could even tell there was mascara on my lashes. By then, they already had that tarantula look on the ends. I washed my makeup off and tried again, with the same result. The wand just doesn't seem to get much of the mascara on it, therefore my lashes hardly get any mascara on them. Update: I've now been using this for over a week, in hopes that I will miraculously start to love it, because it was pricey and I'd hate to throw it out. However, it just continues to disappoint, and I feel as if I'm using a completely different mascara than everyone who is posting rave reviews. The mascara begins to flake off my lashes after about 3 hours, regardless of how few coats I have on. The only good things I have found with it are : the tube looks cool, and my lashes don't get nearly as crunchy as they do with other mascaras.
