Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Get Even #1
lbk55 4/22/2010 7:29:00 PM
BeneFit Get Even in #1 seemed like exactly what I was looking for, but alas after a day or two, I noticed that my skin got hot, red and prickly/itchy with this on. Allergic reaction? It's too bad. The pale yellow of this powder really did seem to tone down the redness in my skin and at the same time, mattify better than MUFE's loose matte powder #12.

Lips -Stila - Pomegranate Crush Lip and Cheek Stain
lbk55 3/27/2010 9:05:00 PM
I'm just reading the reviews after having already purchased this - oops! vivien17's review has it totally right re: the applicator. It's unpredictable. Click, then nothing. Click-click, nada. Click-click-click, still zero. A few seconds later the gel comes gushing out - way too much at once. I thought that this was just a first-use fluke, but I've used it about five times and the song remains the same. I bought this because the color (Cherry) is pretty and the lasting power better than standard lipsticks/tinted balms. It's great to be able to apply the color, and then apply lipbalm or gloss over it as needed and still have some color in my lips. Unfortunately, when I can get the color to come out, it doesn't stain my lips evenly. It might just my my lips, but even on clean, just-washed skin, it stains some areas of my lips a lot darker than others. So despite applying the gel as evenly as possible, it seems to sink in some areas and not others, leaving my lips blotchy. Uck. Too bad, because even with the lame packaging issues this stain seems to be gentle on my crazy-sensitive skin & works so beautifully with my favorite lip balms.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
lbk55 9/10/2007 3:31:00 PM
MAC NW15 is too dark for me, and as rec'd by other reviewers, True Match in W1 Porcelain is truly a PPP shade! Slight drawbacks: chalky texture makes it tricky to apply, and it might just be my imagination (?), but later in the day True Match almost seems to oxidize grey-ish on my oily skin.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Moisture Rich foundation
lbk55 9/10/2007 2:56:00 PM
The lavender smell is REALLY strong. Used a sample in Alabaster for 1 week, but could not apply over other products (like Duac or Differin) because foundation balled up and made a complete mess. So it's MAC StudioFix for now, even though NW15 is too dark and orangey for my pale pale pale skin.

Lipstick -Face Stockholm - Cranberry Veil Lipstick

The BEST sheer lipstick ever, in the perfect "your lips but better" shade. The perfect texture - never sticky, smooth, moisturizing (vitamin E), wears evenly, superb. The only thing missing is SPF -- but having tried just about every sheer lipstick out there (with and w/o SPF), I always come back to this and wonder why I wasted money looking for something else when Cranberry Veils is clearly the HG!!

Lip Treatments -Alba Botanica - Terra Tints
lbk55 9/7/2007 12:02:00 PM
On application, the Blaze Terra Tint was almost invisible on my ppp lips, but after twenty or so minutes, whatever color there was in the product quickly migrated to the edges -- leaving a line of color around an otherwise pale mouth. Think lip liner sans lipstick. Didn't feel terribly moisturizing, and the peppermint in the product came on a bit strong, going from tingly to "on fire" in short order. Back to plain old Neutrogena SPF 15 underneath lipstick for me.
