Treatments -John Frieda - Go Blonder Lightening Spray

This product will ruin your hair. I have dark blonde hair. This has turned my hair, very gradually, into straw. No it does not fall out, but it has become dry and wiry at the ends, and especially damaged in certain areas. I have gone more than a month without using it at times. It took a year for me to see the damage, but now that it has come, my only course of action is to cut it off, and I mean all off. I have only used sparingly but something about this product is very damaging. As others have said, there is no product to repair the damage this spray causes.

So far so good. For me this cleans well and leaves my hair reasonably healthy and lightened looking. Not sure about the roots yet - I will update after a month or so.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Opal
rated 1 of 5
lawcat 4/10/2010 8:12:00 AM

Oh I am so disappointed with the Opal I could cry. It was expensive & did not deliver its promises for decrease in under eye wrinkles. I am 34, live in southern Cal & having spent way too much time in the sun in my twenties, I have been looking for a miracle for this area for quite awhile. I also mistakenly thought this would work for forehead wrinkles too, but the packet it came with says it is solely for the area under the eye - I did try to use on forehead but did not get noticeable results their either. Another complaint is that the anti-aging sea serum that it comes with (it comes with 2 packs of serum after which you have to buy - 2 for $100) the second pack either dried up or was never full after a week. This unit is basically like a vibrator with a rubber tip on the end. They claim with this product you have decreased wrinkles immediately (temporary) & more permanent results over time. I could see a little plumping up VERY temporarily which is how I think their deceptive video works & have seen nothing close to permanent after 2 months. Clarisonic does have a good 30 day return policy but stupidly I really wanted to give it more time to work, as many eye creams & treatments take 2 months for me to see the results, but sadly this did not happen with the Opal. Since there are few reviews on MUA, and the ones I have seen are from first time reviewers, here is a link to the reviews on QVC - wish I had waited to buy until I could have read these http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.CM_SCID.coll.item.A201936.desc.Clarisonic-Opal-Sonic-Infusion-System#BVRRWidgetID

Ok for a sunscreen but really doesn't seem to add any color for me.

Too expensive for what you get. Nice gloss but doesn't last that long and not really worth the money & the color did not really impress me.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - My Silhouette Redefining Gel-Cream

When I read the other reviews, they are so convincing it makes me want to try it again, but really I tried it & saw no results. I am a bit jealous of those who got them! At least it was cheaper than my $65 Clarins experiment, which also failed.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 3 of 5

I got a sample of this & absolutely loved it, bought it, workd well for a couple of weeks & then went really crappy on me. At first it made my lashes long, beautiful and nicely separated. Then it started making them clumpy, short, and yes there are smudges as the day goes on. My search for my HG mascara continues.

This is horrible. I never return anything & I returned this. It does not curl, you cannot get it off, it does not look good, the list just goes on!

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Precious Posy
rated 5 of 5
lawcat 4/9/2010 11:26:00 AM

Love this. I had tried a tarte blush & fell in love, but when I went to a different Nordstrom they did not carry the line any longer and I was dead set on getting a blush this color, and I found it at the Clinique counter. That was 4 years ago & I have not even used half of it yet, so although it is not cheap, it really kind of is b/c it is lasting forever!! I love the blush, the applicator & the compact. My favorite blush of all time. I recently bought the tarte blush from Sephora & although good, I still like my Clinique precious posy the best.

Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Signature Eyeshadow Quad in Truffle

Love this - long lasting & color is beautiful. Knocked down packaging b/c I am not a fan of the foam applicators. Work ok but after awhile the foam comes off of the applicator which is ridiculous for the price!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Baby Quasar
rated 5 of 5
lawcat 4/9/2010 11:16:00 AM

This review is for the baby quasar red. Yes it is expensive, but I am very pleased with the results & I know that they will continue to get better with time. I justified my purchase in that I had begun to get light therapy treatments at a spa, which are $100 per treatment & must be done weekly for 6 weeks for maximum results, and then monthly to maintain. When I found I could purchase my own baby quasar & it would save me time & money, it just made sense & it is working well. Although my main focus is premature aging/wrinkles I opted for the Red, and even thought the blue is supposed to be for acne, since I have been using the red I have had minimal breakouts & they are very minor, and although for years my skin has been breakout free, over the last few years I have experienced cystic breakouts & have had none since I began using the baby quasar. Now I get minor pimples & if I refrain from picking at them, they go away with amazing speed! Besides being clearer, my skin is slightly plumper & the lines in my forehead are not as deep (I have a lot of lines due to my lifetime of excessive tanning). I am hoping that under my eyes will improve as I continue using the unit. With the salon treatments they say the results are most noticeable after six months. I am five months in. I use is for about 40 minutes 3 times a week while I watch tv. It is a little time consuming, especially when I was doing this at night, but switched to the morning before I go running & I seem to be able to stick to the routine better that way. My skin is looking better & I feel this will prevent new wrinkles, it is the only thing I have tried that really gives results. It is a well made, durable & compact unit as well.

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
rated 5 of 5
lawcat 3/7/2010 3:25:00 PM

I just got this product and totally love it! I purchased at Sephora b/c I knew they would color match me. For me it is extraordinarily expensive at $36, but I love it. I thought I would be a 00 or 02 and they matched me at an 04, so I am really glad I did not try to buy it online without checking. They say it is more of a tinted moisturizer than a full coverage foundation, but the coverage is better than other tinted moisturizers I have tried, but still feels very light. Also many products tend to make me greasy and this does not. Once I got home & researched a bit more, I found that Tarte has a promo where you get 30% off online right now, so I am a bit bummed but I would have picked the wrong color, so I am still happy about my purchase!

Tinted Moisturizer -Estee Lauder - Day Wear Plus SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer [REFORMULATED]
rated 5 of 5
lawcat 2/21/2010 3:47:00 PM

I love this product - love the smell, feel & overall look. It is expensive so I don't think I would buy it (it was given to me by my mom) and I just don't have that kind of money. But I really do love it! I think for the price though I would choose something with a little more coverage. This is really light, like not wearing anything.

Treatments -StriVectin - SD by Klein-Becker
rated 3 of 5
lawcat 2/21/2010 3:41:00 PM

I don't use this for a stretch mark cream, but rather for face. If you can get it for a discount on ebay it is a decent price. I use it twice a day now, but for the first 3 months I did 3 times a day. Still have the stubborn lines in my forehead and around my eyes. Even so, I find it to be a nice rich face cream, and the large bottle lasts forever so it is a pretty fair price. Better than Botox? Not a chance, but as good as any face cream I have tried. I don't think any product really lives up to its promises, and I am pretty sick of trying.

I love Revlon colorstay, but this color sunk into every line in my lips, making me look like a 90 year old lady. Straight to the bin.
