Palettes -NARS - The Happening Palette
lavenderbee 3/26/2013 2:29:00 PM
Just in case any NARS executives read these reviews- I would *totally* have bought this palette if it had ANY OTHER blush than Orgasm in it. Every palette, every set has Orgasm in it! Everyone has it already! Those of us who are collectors have it a few times over! Please start mixing up the blushes in your palettes. I know that Orgasm is your big seller but you have so many other great blushes, come on, throw us a bone (or a Madly, or a Gilda, or an Amour, or a Liberte).

Palettes -NARS - American Dream Palette

I was very excited to get this from Saks. I already own Bellissima and Bali, so I was a little bummed that I would be doubling up on those rather than getting six all-new shades- well, the Bellissima I in this palette is different than the one in the duo- the base is less gray and the shimmer is more sparkly- the shadow now has a gold tone, which I actually like, but it is also less pigmented, which I don't. Tzarine and Galapagos are absolutely gorgeous- both are on the sheer side at first but totally buildable, which I like. Bali is a great brow shade as well as a liner and crease color. Silk Road for me is just kinda enh, but warmer shades kinda wash me out, so I can imagine that warm-toned girls would like it for a wash. This palette seems surprisingly versatile considering all the glitter and shimmer, and I plan to use it for traveling. The packaging is of course the same seductive black rubber that we all love so much until it gets gunky, which it always does. Overall I'm giving this palette a thumbs up, but when the shadows run out, I probably wouldn't buy it again (even if it were available, which it is sure not to be).

Cleansers -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Face Cleanser Towelettes
lavenderbee 7/27/2012 3:07:00 PM
Ladies, I ain't gonna lie. I use these to keep my bizness fresh in the hot summer months. They're cooling, they keep my action smelling fresh, and they're just the ticket in the middle of a hot humid day. I'm sure I could use them on my face, too, but I keep them in my purse and never take them out, so I end up just washing my face with CeraVe at the end of the day. Maybe once summer ends, they'll find their way to my bathroom sink, and I'll try them out on my face. For now, I'm packin'.

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Baby-Mild Unscented Liquid Soap
lavenderbee 4/15/2007 9:57:00 PM
I started using this as a face wash in a pinch when I left my usual Derma E Clear Skin 1 at a friend's house. I diluted it a lot, and threw in a few drops each of ylang ylang, tea tree and jojoba oils. My skin has never looked better. It's kind of insane and weird. The extra jojoba keeps me from drying out and then breaking out, which is what happened when i tried the Dr. Bronner's tea tree soap (diluted) on my face. I'm happy. Also, I like to scent my own products with essential oils, so this is great for cleaning the house- I scent it with a little cedarwood oil and the house smells clean, not all chemical-y. I like feeling like a chemist : )

Palettes -Stila - Media Darling Palette - Press Shy
lavenderbee 11/10/2004 8:42:00 PM
Oh, I'm such a sucker for little holiday stila goodies. However, this is the best palette I've ever had. It's perfect for travel or gym bag- the colors are there for a very natural or very dramatic eye, a fresh natural blush and sheer or shimmery lips. The brush quality is better than in previous stila palettes- the eye liner brush isn't great for lining but works well (for me) as a brow brush with the espresso eye shadow. The lip brush gets the job done and the eye shadow brush is actually kinda good! Score this while you can, cool-toned ladies!

Brows -MAC - Eye Brows Crayon in Fling
lavenderbee 8/17/2004 12:39:00 AM
Ah, Fling. Like any good fling, this is perfect, exactly what I want, makes everything seem symmetrical, harmonious, clean and lovely... yet is suddenly over, and you don't know why, and you didn't see it coming, and you just want to run out and have another one. This is why I buy 2-3 of these pencils at once. You never know when they're going to leave you, and they leave you all too soon. I feel ripped off, but satisfied at the same time.

Crème -Vincent Longo - Water Canvas

Yes, this does make your skin look even and dewy. HOWEVER, it is ridiculously expensive, especially considering how quickly it goes. I returned this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Nylon

This is the perfect eye shadow for the inner corner of the eye- it really brightens my eyes up. I have been using it for years, and I love it.

Blush -MAC - Satin Blush - Well Dressed
lavenderbee 11/16/2003 10:36:00 PM
For me, a cool-toned PPP, Well Dressed is kind of a substitute for Benefit Dandelion- I use it all over for a pink glow. It just makes my skin look great. I owned this for a while and almost swapped it, but then started using it all over and now I'm in love. Very similar to the Dandelion for those who are lemming it- a little cheaper, but without the cute packaging and brush.

I do love this, I love the little brush and I love what it does for my pale olive skin. I do not love its unreasonable price tag. It makes me feel dirty.

Eye Shadow -BeneFit Cosmetics - Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner (All Shades)
lavenderbee 5/15/2003 7:20:00 PM
I have several of these and I really love them. I use the paler ones by themselves for a sexy sheer look or as shadow bases for powder shadows. I use the darker ones as cream liners and they look strangely natural and great. I wore Stiletto (deep navy) in a play where I cried and sweated constantly and it did NOT move. Rave!

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dr Feelgood

This is an awful product that does nothing but clog my pores and break me out. Horrible. Awful. Smashbox primer does what I wanted this to do.

Pressed Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - Get Even
lavenderbee 5/15/2003 7:13:00 PM
I really love this. I am picky picky about powder, and this is the one I buy repeatedly. It absolutely evens out my skin tone and looks natural. I use this with my LM Secret Camo on spots and don't need foundation. I don't love the compact but I do like the little pouch it comes in. Ah, there's the Benefit packaging gimmick. *updated* I have had to stop using this product, because every compact I have had *shatters* before I'm even half way through it. (the powder part, not the actual compact. You know what I mean.) It's already so expensive, I just can't rationalize spending the money any more for something I have to work hard to deal with.

Treatments -Kerastase - Masquintense
lavenderbee 5/14/2003 5:14:00 PM
I love this product. Ow! It is an amazing deep OW! conditioner, especially when left on OWW! overnight. Why does it hurt? Because I am kicking myself for not buying a crate full of this stuff when I was in Paris, and it was about $15 a tub. OWWWWWW!!!! I love this stuff!!! OW! Edited: Even bigger rave- leave this stuff in overnight. AMAZING!!!

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Eros
lavenderbee 5/4/2003 4:05:00 PM
This is such a beautiful color! Perfect for summer, and looks great with Nymphea shadow (I bought them together. Lemming is sleeping now- shh, please don't wake him!!!!). I usually don't feel pretty if I don't have really strong pigment on my lips, but this gloss is sheer and light but still has depth enough to wear alone. I also kind of love the packaging- there's something kinda sexy about dipping your finger into a little pot of gloss and dabbing it on your lips while you're talking to someone, like after you've finished dinner with your date, just casually putting it on. : )
