Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
lanlajolie 9/22/2011 5:33:00 PM
I bought this foundation while on hunt for the perfect drugstore foundation. I wanted something simple, cheap, and quick to apply. I was going through a phase where I wanted to be as simplistic as possible. The coverage is sheer, transparent like the bottle states. The color match isn't perfect, but it's close enough. I am an NC30 and I wear 220 (210 was too light). The fragrance of the foundation isn't offensive; it almost reminds me of Olay. Provides a dewy look when first applied, blends easily, and moisturizing. But the lasting power is absurd. For me, 3 hours max (and that's even stretching it), was the staying power for me. It doesn't stay in place. It transfers very easily; I can rest my hand on my face and half of my face has come off. Plus, it clogged my pores, badly. Although it stated on the bottle that it allows the skin to breathe. My skin isn't usually oily, but using this foundation, I get oily patches that ends up clumping the foundation. I use a primer beneath and a setting powder on top, but even that doesn't help. It's probably just me, though. Overall, it had the cheap, simple, and easily to apply quality that I desperately wanted. But nothing else. It did not last, it clogged my pores, and didn't even last long enough for me to drive to school and finish one class of the day. It has very light coverage, so if your skin is already pretty good to begin with, this might work for you. If you have acne, scars, or anything of that sort, it will NOT cover any of it.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Sin
lanlajolie 12/24/2009 3:54:00 PM
I already adore the original primer potion, but when this came out, I HAD to have it! It's such a gorgeous color! A shimmery champange? Heck yes! Its subtle, but it brightens. Sometimes, when I'm having a lazy day but still wanna make myself look awake and less deathly, I swipe some of this on with a volumizing mascara, and off I go. It looks natural, simple, but very pretty. It gives me a fresh-faced look and so quick to do. It reminds me of the Rubenesque paint pot, which I love as well. Like the original, I will continue to purchase this over and over again.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
lanlajolie 12/24/2009 3:50:00 PM
I know, I know. The packaging absolutely sucks! But I love this primer. Most primers that I've tried did not compare to this whatsoever. It would crease and my lids would get oily right away. But with this, wow, it works so well! My eyeshadow never creased, my lids never got oily, and everything stayed put, and was super easily removed at the end of the day. Do be sure to pat it on, not smudge and rub all over the lid, and let it dry completely, not let it mix with your shadows.. Or you're just deliberately trying to mess up your eye makeup, please do rub and keep it wet while applying your eyeshadow :p I love this thing to death and I will keep on buying this over and over. With the Sin one, too, cause it's a beautiful color!

Palettes -Urban Decay - Get Baked Palette [DISCONTINUED]
lanlajolie 12/24/2009 3:43:00 PM
It's my first Urban Decay palette, but I adore this! On sale at $18, why not? I thought it was a great deal. The colors are beautiful, and they work together so nicely! It also comes with a 24/7 liner (a new love) and the primer potion in Sin (which is fabulous as well). The baked, half baked, and twice baked colors are great for everyday, and the color Flipside adds an amazing kick to it. I have found quite a few ways to work these four colors together, and I must say, each time I use it my eyes look fabulous. Overall, the colors are beautiful, I abolustely love them. With the double meaning of getting "baked" and "grabbing some munchies(as said on the back of the packaging)," it made my day. So cute!

Lip Gloss -Stila - Grapefruit Lip Glaze
lanlajolie 12/20/2009 11:54:00 PM
I received my first lip glaze (this one) in a swap. I didn't pay for it or anything, but I know about the price and have purchased other Stila Lip Glazes before. This is a very pretty peachy-pink color and it smells lovely, too. But, I found that this lip gloss was sooooo sticky and didn't seem to moisturize at all. For the price? It's a tad expensive, considering it's a clicky pen that doesn't seem to have much product in it. And it takes forever for the product to actually come out and when it does, A LOT comes out and I end up wasting some of the product. I really love the color, and if it weren't for the stickiness, I'd totally get more.

Deodorants -Soap and Glory - One Pit Wonder
lanlajolie 12/13/2009 11:43:00 AM
Note that this is a deodorant, not antiperspirant. It will not help with the sweating. But! This is a pretty good product, minus perspiration protection. The packaging is cute, the names are witty as usual, lasts a good amount of time, and most of all, it smells AMAZING! That goes for all Soap & Glory products, though. They all smell amazing. I've been told be many people that I smell "delicious" whenever they get a whiff of this.

Concealers -Revlon - Beyond Natural Concealer and Highlighters [DISCONTINUED]
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 9:15:00 PM
I bought this is in Light-Medium for my under eyes to brighten it up. I won't even talk about the highlighter. It was useless to me because it didn't do me any justice. Any way, onto the concealer. It's a very creamy concealer, it glided onto my skin smoothly and perfectly. But the coverage wasn't that great, though. It has a light coverage and it creased on me after a while. It didn't last all day, even when I set it with a powder. It's an okay concealer, pretty good for a drugstore concealer. Worth a try.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Florabundance lipglass
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 9:08:00 PM
This is the perfect peachy pink color. Gorgeous on top of a lipstick and on its own. Lasts a good amount of time, a tad sticky but not unbearable, and a yummy vanilla scent.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 9:00:00 PM
I get this as a gift with purchase every time. My mom and sister also get these as a gift with purchase and they give it to me because I am the only one between all of us who wears a lot of eye makeup on a daily basis. And I also MUST use waterproof mascara so this is a MUST HAVE for me. I've been using this for years and I probably will continue using this for the rest of my life. The Clinique one is similar to this, but I still love this much more. I have very short, straight sparse eyelashes, so I like to use lots of waterproof eyeliner and waterproof mascara. Plus, I use lots of eyeshadow to make my eyes pop. This doesn't leave a greasy residue and dissolves my makeup almost immediately with minimal rubbing. It doesn't cause me any irritations or break me out. I love this eye makeup remover. The bottle is cute and convenient as well. Open up the lid, dab some of it onto your cotton ball/pad and sweep it onto your face. So simple, quick, and easy.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Absolue Premium Bx Cream
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 8:54:00 PM
I got this as a sample, but the tiny little jar has lasted me for over 5 months. I really like this replenishing cream. It is moisturizing, light, has refreshing scent, and SPF 15. It has evened out my skintone and does not break me out. I know that I am still a bit young to be using this, but it's never too early to start taking care of your skin. I am very young, but since my skin is pretty dry (especially in the winter, gosh, it cracks all over in the winter!), I am already getting lines around my eyes and my mouth. And that's not very attractive for someone who isn't even past 21 years of age.

Tinted Moisturizer -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Enhancer SPF 20
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 8:48:00 PM
I wanted to LOVE this product. I heard such great things about this tinted moisturizer, from websites to magazines to MakeupAlley! But this was just an alright product for me. I have combination skin leaning towards the dry side. This emphasized the dry patches I has as well as making me look dull and ashy. And when I tried to blend it, the product seemed to ball up. I think this would work better for me in the summer when my skin isn't so dry. But for now, it's only alright. It didn't break me out, the texture of the product was very nice, the packaging was convenient and sanitary, and the coverage was pretty good for a tinted moisturizer.

Tinted Moisturizer -BeneFit Cosmetics - You Rebel Lite Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
lanlajolie 12/12/2009 8:42:00 PM
I got a sample of this when I purchased the Benefit's One Hot Minute.
I was pretty excited about trying this out because I heard quite a lot of people saying good things about it and purely because I love Benefit products. It's a fine product; sheer coverage, light scent, SPF 15, and moisturizing. But I found that it was too light for me. It also stung my eyes and it would water like crazy if I applied the product too close it. And maybe it's just the sample I got, but it kinda separated. I saw oily spots in the product (I opened the sample package and transferred it into a small jar for convenience) and water spots as well.
None the less, it's a decent product. I would like to try the original You Rebel next time because it's catered to darker skintones.

Loose Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - One Hot Minute
lanlajolie 12/6/2009 11:29:00 PM
I love this "finishing powder" although I like to use this as more of a highlighter. It's a very subtle shimmer that gives me a beautiful glow under yellow lighting (like at restaurants, during the sunset, etc.) and in the mornings. It looks a bit dark in the container, but it's actually very sheer and shimmery when applied.. Well, for me its pretty sheer. Those who are much more fair could probably use this as a bronzer and someone darker than me could use it as a finishing powder. It's a tad expensive for such a simple product, but regardless, I still really like it. The packaging is soooo cute! And when I use it, there's this pleasant subtle scent. It really is One Hot Minute! After I finish all my makeup, I take a minute to apply this and it just finishes my look and ties everything together with an amazing glow.

Tinted Moisturizer -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - Daily Defense Anti-Oxidant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 in Light
lanlajolie 12/3/2009 1:54:00 AM
I wanted to love this tinted moisturizer, hoping to end my search for tinted moisturizers and make this my holy grail. But no, I am still on the search.
This was a very greasy tinted moisturizer. A little bit was all I needed to keep my skin soft, but just a little bit was not enough color for me. So, of course, I tried to layer up, with resulted in looking so disgustingly slimy. Then, I tried to set it with powder, after I blotted some of it off due trying to add a tiny bit more coverage, which made me look so gross.
I purchased this in medium, which I figured would be about the right match for me, but it was too orange.
Then there was that smell. It smelled funky. It was not pleasant. I can put up with it, but I'd much prefer not to. It's a weird sunscreen scent. There's the sunscreen scent, which I usually don't mind, I actually think it smells pleasant. But there was also another scent to it that I can't quite put a finger on. It just doesn't smell right.
The packaging? Plain, but easy to use, sanitary, quick.
The title? Long, and simple.
The price? It was $30 a tube. You can make your own opinion on value with that. I think it's still expensive, personally. Especially for the quality of this tinted moisturizer. The consistency was nice, though. I really liked it. It was thick and gel-like, wasn't runny or anything. A bit difficult to blend in though. I tried a tiny swatch on my hand the very first time I saw this, and it took a while to properly blend. If not blended properly, there would be unevenness and these tiny blotches in the skin. I mean, blending is a must, but THAT MUCH blending? Not worth it.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
lanlajolie 11/7/2009 4:18:00 PM
I initially bought this because it was for volume, which I am a complete sucker for. And because it had a very noticeable in-your-face yellow packaging. I am quite a fan of the big brush, and this definitely had it. I liked it, it wasn't that plastic bristle brush I've been seeing a lot of lately.
I wanted to like this mascara, because I read that it had extreme volume effects with it's collagen enhanced formula. But I didn't. There was a strong rose scent that seemed to irritate my eyes. It had a mild stinging sensation and made my eyes more red than they already usually are. Also, this didn't hold a curl very well, which is a MUST for me considering I have short, straight, asian lashes. Not only that, it flaked and smudged. Much to my embarrassment, I used this one night I was with my boyfriend and had tried to get frisky with him, not knowing I had full-on raccoon eyes. Worst part is, he didn't even tell me. But I guess bless his soul for not even noticing. Ha
