Good Lord, I actually like this! I thought it was a sad, sad day because two of my three Sephora samples were celebrity-endorsed fragrance (the other one was a Dessert Beauty fragrance) and I figured those two were going in the giveaway pile. But this actually smells quite nice. Clean and yet sophisticated, and it seems to last a while. There's no way I'd tell anyone what it was, but at least I know none of my friends are wearing it!
Fragrances -Dessert Beauty - Juicy Kissable Fragrance

First off, I got this as a sample and it is a sad day when this is one of my three Sephora samples. What happened to the good samples, Sephora? Anyway, I was shocked at how small the sample was. They could have at least given me a normal-sized perfume sample bottle! I guess it doesn't matter, because I dabbed this on my wrist and could barely smell it. What I could smell was a fruity mess, like rotten fruit you find in the bottom of your desk drawer. Maybe that's just me with the rotten fruit in the desk but you get the picture. I'll wear this the next time I want to smell like a stripper eating a cherry popsicle.
Mascara -Maybelline - Sky High Curves Extreme Length and Curl [DISCONTINUED]
lahgreen2 3/29/2005 3:48:00 AM
I love what mascara does to my long lashes but this one isn't the "one". Too sticky and clumpy for me, plus I got raccoon eyes and it's hard to take off. That said, applied carefully it can look really, really good so I'll use this a few times more I suppose ... but not at work! I looked like I'd been crying by 5:00!
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Aqua Proof Creme Eye Shadow - Eternal Emerald
lahgreen2 3/27/2005 11:57:00 PM
I got this super-cheap at Target (on clearance, packaged with another color of the same formula)and I don't regret it, but I probably wouldn't buy it again. The applicator is awkward and application takes a lot of practice and a steady hand. As eyeshadow, it's more like paint. I ended up with some on my eyelashes. As eyeliner, it works better, but you definitely have to use an eyeliner brush. As the day wore on, it faded to a glittery, not shimmery, finish. I probably won't wear this to work again as it is just too glittery once the color wears off.
Gels/Soaps -Avon - Naturals Antibacterial Peach Hand Gel
lahgreen2 7/26/2004 6:11:00 PM
I love antibacterial gel, and this one smells pretty good, but the packaging and the texture of the product don't work for me. The gel is too liquidy, and comes out of the tube in a huge glop, which I then have to wipe off with a paper towel. Kind of defeats the purpose of having an anti-bacterial hand gel if I have to wash it off because it's coating my hands and won't dry. If a smaller bit came out of the tube, I'd like this stuff a lot better. Good peach scent with a faint alcohol trace (someone at work thought I was drinking! LOL!) and very cheap. Unfortunately I think I'm going back to Purel.
Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Bajik Spa Spray on Moisturizer
lahgreen2 7/22/2004 3:54:00 PM
I absolutely love this stuff. It smells great, leaves my skin smooth and not greasy, and the fact that it is a spray is the best of all. Perfect for summer days when a moisturizer seems like it would be too heavy, but you need something. Did I mention that it smells great? Well, it's worth mentioning twice! The only problem is that it is expensive and I go through it quickly!
Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Bajik Spa Crushed Rice and Sugar Scrub
lahgreen2 7/22/2004 3:51:00 PM
I got a small sample of this when I bought some Body Shop products, and I really like it! It smells amazing and leaves my skin smooth. It was much less harsh than a salt scrub or other exfoliating scrubs I've used. The sample was so small that I can't properly evaluate it, but I'd definitely buy the full-size to try it out over a week or so.
This is a fun bright-pink (very, very bright!) summer shade that would probably look better on me if I were tan right now, but nevertheless I do like it a lot. It takes some careful application as the color is so bright that any mistakes are very, very obvious, but like all OPI polishes it lasts forever. I think this is the perfect shade for a beach party or a vacation in Hawaii, or anytime you want to feel summery and bright!
My nail salon recently upgraded to OPI and Essie nail polishes which makes me super-happy since I no longer have to bring my own polishes in, and I can try all sorts of new shades. This is a pale-pinkish (more nude than pink) opaque color that is perfect for short nails. It's nothing special, but it's the perfect "oops my nail broke and now I have to cut them all short" shade.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails with Nylon nail polish
lahgreen2 7/6/2004 3:26:00 AM
I got this at Rite-Aid for $1.99, and right now they have a rebate of $1.99 for this product so it was free! I bought "Oasis Dawn Creme" which is an opaque mauve color. It goes on with good coverage but seems to be more watery than, say, Essie nail polishes. It lasts well and is a great neutral mauve color for fingers or toes.
Fragrances -Avon - Ginger Scents Spray Ginger Fresh Body Mist
lahgreen2 6/18/2004 1:54:00 PM
I absolutely hate Avon fragrances, but I thought I'd give this one a try. This is a body spray which purported to contain "ginger and citrus" scents. It smells almost exactly like Origin's ginger-scented line, but its ingredients are alcohol, water, fragrance and hydrogenated castor oil. It smells lovely upon first spray from its nicely-labeled bottle, and it doesn't irritate my skin as some body sprays do. A pleasant, almost powdery-citrus scent remains throughout the day but the initial rush of ginger does not last long. However, I do like the smell and for the bargain price ($5.40 for 4.2 oz, on sale) I would buy it again. I may even try the other products available in this scent.
I've been using this stuff since I was a teenager. It sets my foundation well, doesn't turn orange and smells clean. The only other powder I like is really, really expensive (Prescriptives Magic) so I usually just use this one. I like to use a big powder brush instead of the cheap little puff (which always falls apart). I always seem to break the compact about halfway through the product, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, it's cheap enough that I can just go get a new one.
I only buy these when Starbucks is out of their mints, which are my favorite. I like the taste, and I love the concept, and the packaging is nice and small, but ... the gummy, plasticky texture is something I can't stand! I figured out the best way to deal with this is to put the strip on the roof of my mouth instead of on my tongue. They're a good backup to keep in my purse in case I am out of mints.
These are a cute gift to give (in the glass containers) but I don't like the gum at all. It tastes great at first then quickly becomes a rubbery-tasting thing you want to spit out immediately!
Styling Products -Suave - Flexible Hold Non-Aerosol Hair Spray
lahgreen2 5/12/2004 9:04:00 PM
I don't use a lot of hairspray, so this lasts forever. It smells good and gives good control without "freezing" your hair. If you spray a lot, you can even get a gel effect on curls.
