Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Iced Tea Twist
rated 4 of 5
lady_astrid2001 6/25/2008 10:40:00 PM

I like this stuff, although I do not love it like the 3-in-one. I think that it smells awesome, but for some reason after I put it on, all I can smell is Lemon with a slight twinge of tea. Its still refreshing though. Honestly, I really don't like the bottle on this product, which is what could keep me from buying this again (unless it was on sale). i have to take the cap off and shake this into my hand- if i just click open the cap, NOTHING comes out. and the bottle is such hard plastic that squeezing does not produce any results. LOVE the product, HATE the bottle.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Iced tea twist three in one [DISCONTINUED]

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! everytime i smell this stuff, i swear i want to drink it. It smells exactly like iced tea! I like to use it as a body wash, especially on really hot days, because the scent just makes me feel cool and refreshed. i sometimes use it as shampoo, but not too often because i don't want to waste it. i like using it as a bubble bath to, except that it can make the bath water look a little brown- but it does make a lot of bubbles. honestly, this is my favorite Bath and Body works scent EVER. I wish that they would turn it into a signature collection. But its so good, they'd probably discontinue it, just like all of their best scents.

Lotions/ Creams -Lubriderm - Daily UV Lotion
rated 4 of 5
lady_astrid2001 6/25/2008 10:26:00 PM

*I just bought this today, so I may have to update at a later time* I just bought the walmart-brand of this, but its basically the same stuff. I read the reviews on here first, and I would like to point out that this lotion is broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) and the Lubriderm website confirms this. Just google the active ingredients. As a lotion, this stuff is a little runny, but I see that as a good thing- if it was really thick it wouldnt sink in so fast. Unlike most moisturizing-sunblock hybrids, this isnt sticky, and the smell is not too strong- I find Banana Boat much more repellent. I will say that this is not a very moisturizing lotion. If you are expecting a cure-all for crackling skin, this is not it. This is just a light lotion. If you have normal skin and want minimal spf, this is for you. As others have stated, this does provide only minimal sun protection. But I find it ridiculous to slather on spf 85 when I'm just driving to walmart (which is about 5 minutes away from my house). I also think that this would be better if you view it as a sunscreen to use during other parts of the year, like winter or fall. Obviously, if you are going to spend 15+ minutes outside, use more spf.

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Better Lather Than Never
rated 1 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/16/2008 11:26:00 PM

Thank goodness I got this for free with a coupon, otherwise I would have taken it back. The "get a free True Blue Spa Product" coupon was the first that I've ever had trouble finding something to use it on, and I finally decided on this stuff. At $15, it's way too expensive for what it is. The bubbles remind me of dishwashing liquid, as does the smell. It just smells like cheap soap. It lathers OK, but nothing special, and i didn't notice any difference in the softness of my skin. When used as a bubble bath, the bubbles faded in about three minutes, and it didn't actually have a smell, which i didn't like- the aromatherapy is half the point of a bath. I did like the bottle, but that's about all. It's just cheap soap in a better-brand container.

Styling Products -Clairol - Herbal Essences Body Envy Gel
rated 1 of 5
lady_astrid2001 11/25/2007 5:12:00 PM

i know that alot of reviewers have raved about the glory this did for their curls, so i have to point out that that isnt supposed to be the intention of this product-its supposed to give body to otherwise limp hair. looking at it that way, it is an awful product. i have naturally wavy hair, and i didn't see anything magical as far as my waves, only that they looked crunchy and weighed down. instead of giving my hair body, this actually weighed my hair down. i also wasn't impressed with the smell, at least the curl-gel smelled nice. the bottle wasn't too aesthetically pleasing either, but then again i don't like orange. all in all, i will not be purchasing this again.

Styling Products -Clairol - Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel
rated 1 of 5
lady_astrid2001 11/25/2007 5:06:00 PM

i HATE this! i have naturally wavy hair, and i wanted something that would make my waves more defined. this product is definately NOT what i was looking for. other than making my hair look oily and unwashed, not to mention hard to brush, it did NOTHING. while i do like the smell of the product, the lavender did nothing to ease the pain of washing this out of my hair. i've read other reviews saying that you have to use alot of this for it to work, but what's the point if you have to use half of the bottle just for one day of waves? the package was pretty, the smell was pretty; the "curls" were most certainly not. and i must say, that about sums up my feelings for all of herbal essences' new products, save for the one in the blue bottle.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 5 of 5
lady_astrid2001 8/2/2007 5:30:00 PM

let me first say that it is ridiculous to assume that just because petroleum jelly comes from petroleum, it is bad for your health. one user cited ewg.org, but if you actually READ the site and research on skin deep, vaseline (or pure petroleum jelly) has a hazard rating of 0. i LOVE to use this product to take off my makeup, especially in the winter. it takes off waterproof makeup better than make-up remover. the only downside is that you MUST use a washcloth, but that just means that it also exfoliates! i use this on my face when it is dry, and on my hands when they are chapped. i don't use it on my feet, but that is because i hate the sensation and i rarely wear socks around the house. i'll just keep my scaley feet ;) i use the tub version, but i'm the only one who uses it and in a family setting a tube might be more appropriate. i just like that the tub is cheaper. the thing that i love most about this product is it's versatility and it's price. most make-up removers cost a fortune, and this is $.99 from what other product could you get a moisturizer, cleanser, exfoliater, make-up base, and all-around fixer?

Misc Beauty Tools -Sonia Kashuk - Metal Eyelash Comb
rated 5 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/9/2007 8:56:00 PM

HOLY CRAP I LOVE THIS FREAKING COMB!!! i bought it over a year ago and i don't think that i could use mascara if i didnt have it. it separates clumps BEAUTIFULLY, and makes my clump-infested lashes look wondeful. the only bad thing about this comb is that it is very easy to poke youself in the eye if you don't pay attention to what you are doing, but after a while you learn. the best thing is that its metal and lasts longer than other combs. it even folds up so that you dont have to worry about poking yourself with it when you're trying to get it out of your makeup bag! if mine ever broke, i would rush out THAT DAY and buy a new one. i love this comb, and i think that the world would see less "tarantula lashes" if everyone would buy one of these. it's only $5 and it will give you the best lashes EVER.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Instant Nail Enhancer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/9/2007 8:50:00 PM

i liked the idea of this product when i bought it, and i have to say that i am satisfied with it. it makes my nails look shiny and it only takes a few seconds to apply. the bads things about it are 1)the packaging is weird, because i've been through 2 tubes of this stuff and both have leaked horribly, causing me to put too much on my nails and then it takes awhile to dry and 2) i'm really beginning to think that this stuff is really just watered-down super glue. also, the brush's bristles can get stuck together, but only if you dont use this prduct every day like you are supposed to. if your brush gets stuck like this, i would suggest using a sonia kashuk metal eyelash comb to untangle the bristles (that little comb is AMAZING). all in all, i have brought this product multiple times and will probably buy it again.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/9/2007 8:42:00 PM

instead of paying $7 for the cetaphil brand, i payed $4 for the equate version. i LOVED it. it moisturizes my face (i don't rinse with water but just wipe it off with a soft coth) and simultaneously cleans off all of the gunk. my face doesn't feel squeaky clean, but i don't want it to- i just want healthy skin that doesn't break out. i originally bought this because it is hypo-allergenic, and i really need that with my PPP skin. my friend also told me that her brother uses this because he has eczema, so i knew that it would be very gentle. the only thing that i do not like about this product is the bottle, because i feel like i always get WAY too much product in my hands. i don't really mind though, because it's only $4 a bottle, and its such a big bottle that it will probably last for well over a month, even with two washings a day.

Lip Gloss -Avon - Shine Supreme
rated 1 of 5
lady_astrid2001 10/9/2006 1:30:00 AM

i have this in lilac glaze, and while the color is pretty in the package, it is an ugly metallic pink on my lips. it has a goopy consistency, and goes on pretty thick if you don't wipe the brush off. it also smells and tastes horrible. and then finally, it does not do what it is advertised to do. first, it does not go on very glossy at all, an second, it does not renew its original glossiness no matter how many funny faces you make. it just turns goopier on your lips and you look like a puckering idiot. this looks and feels like the cheap stuff that you buy at the drugstore and i will not be paying $8 for it. just another dud from avon.

Liquid -Maybelline - Pure Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
lady_astrid2001 10/9/2006 1:22:00 AM

i love this foundation! i am 16, and this covers my facial redness and minor zits wonderfully! i put it on with a damp makeup sponge, so i use little and it goes on sheer. it lasts a long time. and for $5 , who wouldn't at least try it? my only problem is that the packaging is a horrible seafoam green. yuck. but since it never leaves my bathroom, i don't care too much. other than that, it is a great foundation, especially for teenagers who don't need alot of coverage.

Crème -mark - Speedway Do Everything Foundation Stick
rated 4 of 5
lady_astrid2001 8/7/2006 12:58:00 PM

i really like this foundation for my very fair skin. i use the skin 1 color, and it covers my undereye circles and everyday redness wonderfully when applied with a sponge. the packaging is cute, but i wish it were a different color than brown. i took off one lippy because this doesn't cover up my big red zit that i'm dealing with right now. but luckily, i don't get many zits, so that shouldn't be a problem all the time. i love this foundation.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - Oil-Free Oxygenating Ultra-Light Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/10/2006 5:49:00 PM

i decided to try this thinking that it would be light and would keep my skin looking fresh. i guess that it is light, and it does make my skin soft, but only if i can put up with the pain after applying it. parts of my face are very sensitive, and this stuff stung like crazy for about 5 minutes (or more) after applying it to those areas. i will not be repurchasing- baby lotion is much more gentle and cheaper.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Red Currant and Thyme Tea body lotion
rated 5 of 5
lady_astrid2001 4/10/2006 5:40:00 PM

i got this lotion for christmas and fell in love with it. alas, my super-sensitive skin can'thandle anything but baby lotion once a week. i am being very sparing with this lotion since it is discontinued. i would buy again if i ran out of lotion completely, but i haven't ran out of lotion in a LONG time. my tip is to smooth this after a shower (before you dry off) so you can use less and still get lots of the scent. i don't think that this smells like tea, it just smells...good.
