So I've always been kind of weary about forever21's cheap lip products. I received a set of these glosses, and I'm pleasantly surprised! They have a fabulous consistency, subtle scent and flavor, just the right amount of shimmer, but very sheer color. I'm a full-lipped white girl, so I'm very picky about what goes on my lips. Most glosses, cheap and expensive, make my lips a peely mess and give me angular cheilitis for whatever reason. Not these ones! Wasn't expecting to find a go-to product from Forever 21's beauty line. There's probably a very common ingredient in other lip glosses that just isn't in this one. Can't find ingredient info though, so who knows. The lasting power sucks, but it's the kind of gloss you don't really need to worry about reapplying. It doesn't get thick or leave a ton of residue. They're definitely cheap, so I recommend picking one up to see if it works as well for you as it does for me!!

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup

I bought this foundation because a girl I work with wears it and I frankly had no idea she had bad skin until I saw her without it!! My primary skin issues are huuuuge pores, blackheads, little red bumps, and minor rosacea on my nose. I disagree with the reviews on here that it supplies no coverage and looks overly done. I usually do about 3 thin layers and my skin looks dewy, smooth, and naturally perfect. Maybe it doesn't look too done because my skin's young? I apply it by dipping three fingers on both hands into the tub, and putting little dots all over my face. I then blend it out and repeat. Sand beige is literally my color. You can't tell the difference between the makeup color and the actual color on my skin. I can even smooth it on my red knuckles and burn marks on my arms and it blends right into the rest of my skin. This makeup smooths out my fine lines and pores and makes me look like I actually have great skin!! I've found that wearing primer with this foundation makes it feel to slick. That's a major plus for me because it works great without primer, and practically all primers clog my pores. I'm pretty sure this product contains silicone, but it doesn't clog my pores nearly as much as primer does. A major downside to this foundation is that it absolutely reeks. The regular Colorstay foundation smells like acrylic paint, but the whipped foundation has an indescribable scent that is just awful. It smells like some kind of cooking product, kind of reminds me of Pam or something. It was seriously nauseating the first couple of days I wore it, but it was unnoticeable after that. Don't worry, the scent isn't detectable (I had a few friends sniff my face and all they could smell was my perfume), but it has a knack for lingering in your nose for a while. In conclusion, this foundation may not work for everyone, but it definitely works for me. :) I would recommend giving it a shot if you have normal or combination skin like me (I'm usually normal, but around my pd. I get oily on my forehead and chin), no major skin discoloration or acne, an appropriate skintone for what's available, and if you can stomach disgusting scents for a little while!!

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 12/14/2012 1:51:00 AM

I've always wanted to try this topcoat, but never did due to the high price tag. I'm so glad I did, though!! I'm a waitress, so pretty much every time I walk into the kitchen, I have to wash my hands. Picking up plates and plating food gets food and condiments on my hands, and every time I touch my hair or face, I have to wash my hands for sanitary reasons. This, along with our sanitizer we use to clean, wreaks havoc on my nail polish, and I literally have to repaint my nails EVERY DAY. The first time I used this topcoat, I made the mistake of applying it to dry polish, and it chipped off the next day as usual. Today, before work, I applied it to wet polish. Tonight I had to wash all our trays in hot water and with sanitizer, so my nails received a lot of abuse. I was amazed to see perfect, unchipped nails when I finally got home!! I don't know how much longer this will last, but the fact that my nails have withstood ONE DAY of work is impressive enough. I've tried almost every cheaper top coat ever, and nothing has ever lasted longer than, like, 7 hours for me. So, 24 hours and counting is an amazing result for me!!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Eye Shadow - Revlon - Colorstay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quad in Attitude
rated 4 of 5
kyuss 12/7/2012 11:40:00 PM

I actually really like this quad. It's not for everyone, but it definitely works for me. The colors aren't very pigmented at all, but with primer, they do show up. I like the fact that they're not pigmented because it allows me to softly and naturally contour my eyes. They do last all night through a sweaty work shift. I like to use the light pink all over my lid and to my browbone, the taupey color on the outer 2/3 of my lid, the light brown in the crease, and the dark brown as an accent in the crease and on the lid (helps add a little dimension). These shadows are perfect for someone with medium-light skin who just wants to subtly enhance her natural beauty. I'd also like to praise the dark brown color as matching my eyebrow color to a T. It's sooo hard to find a match for my eyebrows because they're exactly brown, and most colors are too grey, red, or black. This matches just right and I will probably continue to buy this quad just for this color.

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Glossaholic - Fairy
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 11/26/2012 1:34:00 AM

Favorite lipgloss ever! Unlike most drugstore glosses (and even high end ones), it actually lasts through careful eating and drinking! Although reapplying it is no issue because it smells so sweet and glides on like a dream. Seriously, this is not sticky nor gritty at all, which is surprising considering the size of the iridescent flakies. It comes with a ton of product and I've barely made a dent in the tube through weeks of use. It's so nice, I've had 2 tubes stolen from me. My crappy makeup rarely gets stolen! And at $5 a pop, I didn't hesitate to replace them. :) I have this in Fairy and Fabulous. Fabulous is a little more suited for my warm complexion and looks very subtle and natural on me. My lips just look very shiny and luscious when I wear this gloss and the glitter isn't overpowering. I didn't like Fairy when I first wore it because the glitter was intense, but I've grown to love it for certain occasions. Warm-toned women might want to avoid it, but sometimes cool colors work well on my face because I have blonde hair and blue eyes, but golden skin. Fabulous has a minty, plumper-like feel when I apply it, which I like, but it's a little harsh in cold weather. The scent and flavor of Fab is quite subtle. Fairy, on the other hand, tastes and smells just like icing! My boyfriend loves it, except for the glitter that ends up in his beard... that said, a downside is the glitter sometimes winds up all around your mouth, but it's understandable and avoidable. This lip gloss doesn't dry my lips out when worn over balm. The best part is the applicator! I'm a full-lipped lady and I'm an absolute SUCKER for lip products with oversized applicators. The huge doe-foot hugs my lips perfectly and makes application a breeze.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Visiblecare (NutriumMoisture)
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 11/25/2012 12:31:00 AM

I got the green (toning) version of this on a whim one day. I don't know what compelled me, because I don't typically buy into promises made on the bottle and the scent isn't something I'd generally prefer. Well, the first time I used it, it didn't lather which I found strange. I don't think soap needs to lather for it to be effective, so that doesn't really bother me. The scent bothered me at first because it's just so... soapy. I've grown to like the clean scent, however, and it wears off my skin quickly. Doesn't compete with my fragrance, which I love. Anyway, to my surprise, this product seriously did give me more beautiful skin!! I've always had very mild keratosis pilaris. I had rough skin all over my body with, like, bulging follicles. Not too noticeable, but I always noticed. I had lots of red patches and my skin never looked creamy or nice. Now, whenever I look down at my arm or chest, I'm completely shocked!! My skin looks considerably smoother and my KP has cleared up almost entirely! I've tried so many things for my KP and nothing has ever helped me. I'm so surprised that this worked for me!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast 24 HR Mascara
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 11/9/2012 1:31:00 AM

I disagree with the negative reviews on here. This mascara's great!! It lasts through rain, crying, sweating, everything. I find it's easy to remove if I dip an eyelash brush in makeup remover, sweep it on, then pat my eyes with a damp wash cloth. I have naturally thick, plentiful, dark, but oddly pin-straight lashes. It's hard for me to find something that doesn't make my lashes look too long to the point where they touch my eyelids, too dark and extreme, and too clumpy. I don't think this mascaras very clumpy at all, you just have to apply it in thin layers and comb it out a bit. I can't stand a single clump on my lashes, and it's really difficult to find a drugstore mascara that doesn't give me clumpy spider-lashes!! This mascara is just perfect for me. I do like the applicator because the bristles are smaller and I find it easier to work with, personally. It's very versatile and buildable. I really don't understand all the negative backlash, but I guess this product's not for everyone. I'd say the one downside to this mascara is it does tend to dry out rather quickly in the tube. It's quite cheap though, so that barely matters to me. This mascara's perfect for someone like me who lives a busy, busy life with many 24-hour days! I seriously never have to touch up my mascara with this.

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Liner
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 11/8/2012 4:39:00 AM

I LOVE this eyeliner!! I've tried Mary Kay liquid liner in the past, and wrote liquid liner off forever because it smeared all over my eyelid and gave me an infection. I had a change of heart and bought this liner in Brown Black on sale. I love the applicator-- it took a couple of tries and a bit of makeup remover, but I was pretty easily able to create a flawless cateye my first time wearing it. Applying it over shadow is a breeze and lasts all freaking day. As a waitress who works long, sweaty hours, this is a must!!! I go home at the end of the night looking like I just applied it, except it does get a little smudgy in the corners. My eyes tend to water a bit time to time, so that's probably why. I love how tiny the applicator is because I have small eyelids, but really thick lashes, so I can apply it ever so slightly above my lashes and even between them. This is great because eyeliner tends to take up half of my eyelid if I can't apply it precisely enough. I also like how it sort of flakes off if you rub it with a q-tip to remove little mistakes, yet the good stuff manages to stay put.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 4 of 5
kyuss 11/8/2012 4:30:00 AM

So pretty much this is my go-to foundation... I'm still relatively new to wearing foundation so I haven't tried everything out there. Still, this is my favorite of products I've tried from Revlon, Maybelline, Almay, and Covergirl. It has yet to give me a reason to rush out and buy a different product. I like the price and the coverage, so I feel satisfied sticking with this one. I'd say the best thing about it is the staying power. I use it with a mattifying powder. I am a server in a rather greasy restaurant, so I sweat a lot and my combination skin gets very oily. I frequently blot my skin for oil, and this foundation barely shows up on the napkin. It seriously lasts those hectic 8-hour shifts and it's great that I don't have to carry it into work with me. :) The coverage is nice-- sure there are still a few dots here in there on my acne-prone skin, but that's what concealer is for. I use primer, but I find it blends very easily and quickly (contrary to what others have said) and has a smooth, even finish. The smell is remarkably like acrylic paint, but you'll get over it in about a week or so. Besides, applying makeup is essentially painting your face so it's not THAT odd of scent for makeup. I also found that thankfully the smell recedes and you WON'T walk around smelling like wet paint for the rest of the day. Another thing I love about this product is the color selection. Yeah, it's not the most expansive, but I was happily able to find my shade. I have a strange yellowish-grey tone to my skin that's very hard to match. Foundation of "my color" often winds up looking too blue or too orange; "Sand Beige" does neither and blends flawlessly into my natural skintone. I find the finish to look rather natural as well. Wearing this just looks like an improved version of my natural skin. Other liquid makeups I've tried have looked too cakey. I can wear this foundation when I'm going for a natural look and garner many compliments on my "naturally beautiful skin"-- now isn't that a lie!! I am concerned that this foundation might be contributing to my acne, but I haven't stopped using it long enough to determine (my skin isn't the worst ever, but the "au natural" look definitely doesn't flatter me). I've always had sporadic pimples here and there, and it hasn't gotten substantially worse. However, if you do have acne-prone skin, I would be weary. Bottom line, if you're looking for an inexpensive, easily-blendable foundation that lasts all day and works great for beige skin, I would recommend giving this product a try!

Shampoo -John Frieda - Sheer Blonde Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
kyuss 10/18/2012 1:51:00 AM

Chide me for my lazy ways, ladies, if you will, but my fabulous experience with this product is a testament to its quality. I started using this product around the year 2005. Shortly thereafter, my teenaged self endured a "hippie" phase, during which I refused to cut my hair for 6 years. Yeah. Anyway, when I finally went to get my hair cut, the stylist was simply amazed by the condition of my hair. She called all the other stylists over and they were shocked as well. My hair was down to my butt, but the damage and split ends were very minimal. I had been using this shampoo and conditioner the entire time. Perhaps not everybody would have the same experience as I have, but it simply works wonders for me. I have dark honey-blond hair, with really light natural highlights. My roots and underside of hair is very dark brown. My hair has gotten darker over the years, and my genes dictate that my hair should be entirely dark brown by now. I attribute the use of this product to keeping the blonde in my hair. If I use another shampoo, my hair looks lifeless, dull, and almost grey-ish. I have extremely oily hair and most other shampoos make my hair look oily. Granted, I am forced to wash my hair daily due to oil accumulating immensely overnight. But this product just makes my hair look sleek, soft, beautiful, and freakishly shiny. Like, it looks like there is tinsel in my highlights under certain lighting. Sounds weird, but I love it. It doesn't really make my hair "soft," but I have very thick, course (but straight) hair. It's just not possible for my texture and it's not a concern of mine. It's definitely rather touchable though, just not like angora. The scent is also lovely. It's pretty basic, which I love. I hate heavily-scented shampoos because it competes with whatever fragrance I'd like to wear. It has a nice, clean, warm scent. Overall, for dirty blonde teenage girls who are losing their blonde and would like to keep ahold of their natural highlights, I would definitely recommend this product. It works out well for my long, straight, thick hair. On thinner hair it may be a problem, but my thin and silky-headed brunette friend borrows my shampoo here and there and she loves it. It brings out gorgeous red highlights on her--it's not just for blondes!!!
