Styling Products -Carol's Daughter - Hair Balm
koukla8 11/25/2011 5:09:00 PM
I'm surprised by all the negative comments. I usually use jojoba oil to hydrate my hair, but I figured I would buy the hair balm for days I don't wash my hair, since it has a more pleasant scent and doesn't weigh my hair down. Yes, the smell is kind of reminiscent of old ladies, but I would never say it smells bad. I have Caucasian hair and its not as dry as it used to be, so all I need is a little on my finger tips, but I think this is a great product for anyone who needs to hydrate their hair.

Foundations -Stila - Natural Finish Oil Free Makeup

I'm really happy with this makeup. I have heard complaints about the formula change, but I'm not sure which formula I have because I bought mine from Amazon, hopefully its the new formula because I love it! It is oily at first so that you have time to place it where you want, after a few minutes it dries and looks flawless. It seems to last all day. I have shade E and it does a great job of covering my dark circles and looking natural. I would apply it with a brush as opposed to fingers or a sponge.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Grapeseed oil

First of all, I'd like to say that the reason I rated it 3 for price is because I bought organic cold pressed from Amazon, I read that it is more effective in helping to produce collagen. I bought this for my under eye area, and so far I have noticed subtle difference, but I have only been using it for over 2 weeks. I have never had issues with acne, but its normal for me to get a zit here or there or break out on my period. I have not had one zit since I have started using this, my skin has been completely clear. My skin also gets a little dry and flaky during the winter time, this is really moisturizing without being oily at all. You only need a couple drops for your face and it absorbs into your skin within minutes. I'm really happy I bought it.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner

Even though I am kind of a makeup snob and prefer department store makeup, this is the only eyeliner I will ever use. I have been using it for 8 years, and have yet to see anything better. I use it in black, its good for sharp, definitive lines, not smudging. I believe the packaging says it lasts 16 hours, it usually looks good for 10, then it starts to look worn. I have gone swimming and taken showers in it, it still looks great after. I have also recently experimented with the grey, that color seems to work better for smudging and have an eyeshadow type effect. I have thick dark brown eyebrows, and I use the brown liner just to give them a fuller appearance and better shape, it looks natural and nobody suspects a thing.

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
koukla8 8/26/2011 2:08:00 PM
When I first bought this I had no idea it was marketed towards boys. It makes sense, it contains none of the glitter/color/fragrance/nonsense that is thrown into a girl's lib balm. I have used a wide variety of drug store chap sticks and balms and Jack Black really puts them all to shame. My lips used to be flaky and red, now they are pink and smooth. I used to have to wear lipstick to cover up the redness but no longer have to. It is somewhat expensive ($7.50 for a small tube at Sephora) but you won't have to use it as often so it ends up lasting pretty long. When you can't squeeze out anymore, just cut the tube open and apply it with your finger. Girls- it also works nice as a clear lipgloss, its shiny and not cakey or sticky at all.

Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Stickgloss in Brown Sugar
koukla8 8/26/2011 2:02:00 PM

This lipstick is super moisturizing ( I use it whenever I run out of lip balm). I like the color, its hard to describe. Its kind of sheer, but adds a nice darker color after a couple of layers, nothing crazy though. I usually focus on my eyes with makeup, so I wear extremely nude lipsticks, I like this one for going out. In addition to color it adds a nice shine for voluminous lips.

Shampoo -Desert Essence - Coconut Shampoo
koukla8 8/26/2011 1:55:00 PM
I finally found my forever shampoo, after a long struggle with dry and damaged hair. Although it is sulfate-free, it lathers really well and you don't have to use a lot. It smells great, like (real) coconut. It isn't fragrance free, but fragrance is the last ingredient. I've probably only used it 3 times, because I only wash my hair every 4 days, but I already notice how much smoother and sleek my hair is.

Lotions/ Creams -Alaffia - Everyday Shea Moisturizing Body Lotion
koukla8 8/26/2011 1:45:00 PM
Initially I hated this lotion, I bought it at Zerbo's because I liked the ingredients. After putting it on my skin doesn't feel any more moisturized. I think I realize the problem though, the main ingredient is shea butter. I remembered that shea butter does not moisturize on its own, rather it just seals in moisture. I put pure jojoba oil on my skin, and then put the Everyday Shea (in Lavender) on. It works much better this way, I still won't be buying it again though.
