Lip Treatments -Korres - Lip Butter - Pomegranate
rated 5 of 5

Love this. It feels very much like a true lip butter: moist, soft, sheen (not overly shiny), conditioning. I got "quince," "pomegranate," and "wild rose." Pomegranate is a peach, orange, deep pink (in that order). I have medium/ light skin with strong yellow undertones and if this were a shade darker or lighter, I'd look like a clown. It's not greasy and lasts for a few hours on me. The smell is like walking past a vase of tea roses. Beautiful. It also doubles as a cheek stain/blush which I really like using it for. If you are a low maintenance kind of person that wants something that gives consistent color (no weird color turning) buy this. I am an active girl and this is a must-have in my gym bag, purse, and pocket.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5

Pros: absolutely beautiful fine-milled shimmer. The shade "shell" is a pink champagne color...heavier on the champagne side than the pink side. Shows up as a light-catching beige shimmer with a hint of pink on my medium/golden peach undertones. (I have very dark hair and eyes, so yellow undertones are more pronounced) Beautiful as a lid wash (from lash line to crease) or highlight with a thin, very-blended line under arch of eyebrow. If paired with Lancome's Hypnose, it gets quite a few compliments. Easy to apply with a shadow brush wet or dry. Cons: First a crack developed in the potted eyeshadow. 'No big deal,' I thought. Um, nope. That was just a foreshadow of things to come. Because now I have a loose shimmer pigment instead of a potted shadow. I use the dust from it that collects on the roof of the lid to apply the shadow which is frustrating. I'd much rather have this in a cream eyeshadow or a more "solid" eyeshadow than discover after a couple of weeks of owning this that it morphs into a "loose eyeshadow shimmer". Would repurchase if not for this. Overall: Price-$16 This color is beautiful. The lasting power is moderate, if I apply this at 6am (without primer, etc) it is gone by noon. If I apply this wet (yet again without primer) it last well into the afternoon. I will definitely use this up completely, just wish it didn't crumble.

Bronzers -Guerlain - Terracotta Bronzing powder
rated 3 of 5

Is it just me or do cosmetics companies keep "just missing the mark" on bronzers? I keep trying bronzers and I keep getting disappointed. The last bronzer I remember loving was by Calvin Klein years ago (golden brown, perfect shimmer, no orange, loads of compliments on my glowy tan-sigh). Obviously it was discontinued, but I haven't found THE replacement for it. This bronzer is a good quality softly shimmering powder bronzer with no scary glitter pieces but it just goes on slightly orange. I have medium golden skin (lots of yellow undertones) and this just didn't do it for me. I use it every other day willing myself to like it for the price I paid, but I am strongly tempted to give those drugstore bronzers a spin. If you must indulge in this and you are fortunate enough to not get an orange hue from this, use a soft brush to apply sheer layers until you get the depth of color you like. I have #3, maybe I will give #2 a try if it is available.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Virtual Skin
rated 4 of 5

This is a step up from my Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer. I had a hard time finding a color match. Initially I bought "real tan" but it gave a slightly muddy color to my skin. I went back and got "real tawny" (after much deliberation and color swabs going from the tip of my chin to darn near my earlobe-apparently I was inbetween levels) which is perfect color for my "summer" complexion. I have strong yellow undertones in my skin but flush pink in spots so I usually go for a yellow foundation to get my "canvas" right. This is just right. The finish is sheer, light and smooth. A dusting of loose powder sets it for at least 6 hours for me. I regularly exfoliate my skin so unless a foundation is really bad, I usually don't have trouble with the finishes. I wish the container were different. I use q-tips to apply and a wet sponge and my fingertips to blend. The perfect foundation would be some kind of weird combination of Bobbi Brown's tinted moisturizer and this one.

Lip Gloss -Prescriptives - Moonbeam Reflective Gloss - Meteor 8
rated 4 of 5

Was in a funky mood when I bought this. The makeup counter attendants were kinda scary, so I just picked this up and bought it. When in doubt I pick up the redder/berryish colors. I used to be all about nude lipcolors, but close friends did an intervention on me and...ok, ok back to the review. It is a smooth and shiny lipgloss that looks disco-glittery in the package, but when applied it turns my neutral-pigmented lips into a soft shining pinkish red. Looks very hot in photos. It does not last very long but the color looks perfect for when I do a bronzey face. I find myself reaching for this when my other lipcolors make me go "meh." I am medium toned with bright yellow/golden undertones. I probably won't buy this again because I get bored easily with lipglosses and rarely purchase the same color twice.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy Tubes Smoothie - Ablaze

Too.Strong.Color. I had no idea how pigmented this lip "gloss" was. I am medium complexion with bright yellow/gold undertones, black hair and eyes. I put the equivalent of an ant-size amount on my lips and KABLAM!! All you could see was my bright-hued lips. When I was at the makeup counter I talked myself into this (need to stop doing that). At the rate I use this, it will last me till the year 2090. If I figure out how do this swap thing thats where it will go. Unless one of my friends wants it instead. Pretty color, probably would look breathtaking on someone with stronger brown/gold skintone (getting jealous just thinking about it :-)) The quality of the gloss is traditional Lancome- a little thick, smells fruity, moderate staying power.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
rated 4 of 5
koroios 1/11/2007 8:26:00 PM

Fell in love by accident. I went to the Lancome counter wanting L'extreme and got this instead. I confused the names-oops! But a good oops. Every time I wear this mascara, I get more compliments on my eyes. I only apply this to my outer most lashes and it gives a pretty emphasis to my almond-shaped eyes. I don't need eyeliner (too clumsy for that) but it makes my eyelashes look very lush. I still will get my L'extreme, but how many times do cosmetic accidents work out for the good? The weird thing about this mascara and all mascaras in general (at least for me) is that the mascara is too "slippery" the first week that I own it. After that initial awkward phase, it wears much better. Hmm.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Guess Gold
rated 5 of 5

Beautiful scent! I smelled this in a magazine and liked it, but wasn't too convinced because I usually like the faintest dry downs on perfumes-not the perfume itself. I bought it, it smelled a little strong to me (kinda sex-kittenish and very flirty), but when I got out in public...MAN OH MAN!!! The compliments would not stop. I temper the fragrance with Bath and Body Works Exotic Coconut and people constantly tell me I smell like the beach, only better! For reference, I like Youth Dew Amber Nude, Dior's Hypnotic Poison, and Donna Karan's Cashmere and Cashmere Mist. The packaging is kinda clunky, but attractive in an offbeat way. I will definitely repurchase until everyone around me starts to smell like this, then the thrill will be gone.

Blush -L'Oreal - True Match Superblendable Blush in Barely Blushing
rated 4 of 5
koroios 10/23/2006 10:10:00 PM

I really like this blush. It's a nice break from bronzers. Gives a peachy (not orangey) warmth to my cheeks. Does not look chalky on me (yellow-toned, medium/light complexion). I think this will be one of my everyday blushes to keep me from looking "blah" throughout the fall and winter.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer wash eyeshadow in Champagne
rated 4 of 5
koroios 10/23/2006 10:02:00 PM

Really nice eyeshadow. The shade is not very peachy on me (yellow-toned, medium/light complexion)Instead, there is a very pretty sheen to my eyelids when I wear this. I don't contour or do the different-eyeshadow-color-in-the-crease-thingy; I just wear this all over my eyelid. Could possibly work for all skintones as long as a light hand is used. Gives a beautiful complement/sparkle to your eyecolor. Lasts all day for me with no yucky creasing.

Liquid -L'Oreal - HIP Flawless Liquid Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
koroios 10/11/2006 6:18:00 PM

I like this foundation alot. For years I have been wearing Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer in "medium" and was looking for a cheaper alternative. I tried this on a whim and I am very pleasantly surprised. This foundation has no irritating fumes and it blends well. I regularly exfoliate my skin and wear Olay's All Day Complete Cream for Sensitive skin w/spf 15 applying as needed for the drier and oily areas on my face. I apply this foundation over the moisturizer and I haven't had any oily patches or flakes. It stayed fresh-looking for all day into the early evening. No breakouts, so far. Coverage is about the same as Bobbi Brown TM, maybe a little more. I love the fact that the shade I chose "sand" is so yellow-based, as I was doubtful that a drugstore brand could live up to the claim of being yellow-based. I believe I could go lighter in color, but for now I am satisfied. I would like it better if the packaging were different, maybe a squeeze tube instead of a cap. I hope they don't stop making this!
