Lip Gloss -NARS - Ophelia

Gorgeous. I typically wear this over NARS Dolce Vita lipstick, but I'll swap it on solo, as well. Very fresh and pretty, totally flattering.

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Gel Eyeliner

The only eyeliner I'll use. It stays on all day -- even when my eyeshadow is history, this stuff is still kicking. I have it in black, espresso brown, cobalt blue and violet. Awesome.

Mascara -Revlon - Colorstay lash tint [DISCONTINUED]

Love this stuff. I use on my lower lashes to make them "pop." Whenever I'd done this with regular mascaras, I ended up with raccoon eyes at about midday. But because this is a lash tint, I have no such problems.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Cream
kmellone 5/31/2005 4:33:00 PM
I've had some pretty awful cystic acne on my chin and forehead since I went off the pill about six months ago. I've been using Epicurean Discovery for about two years, and it wasn't making much of a dent. My friend, who's an esthetician, said that I'd probably have to just wait it out (hormones), but suggested that salicylic acid might help. I picked up this product in desperation, and I am happy to say (cautiously, albeit), that after two weeks, my skin is *much* improved. I haven't had any breakouts, and it's helped to clear up my existing acne and resulting red marks from old flare-ups.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Drying Lotion

I'm so bummed. I really wanted to like this product. I break out very rarely, but when I do, it's those big, painful guys that sit patiently under the skin for a week before flowering to a hideous, uncoverable whitehead. This product really...didn't do anything. I used it exactly as instructed, and...nothing.

Crème -Stephane Marais - cream foundation [DISCONTINUED]
kmellone 12/30/2004 9:18:00 PM
I got a couple of samples sent to me and was eager to try this stuff 'cause of the rave reviews. I have combo skin which is getting drier as I age, but the texture on this stuff just felt weird to me. Despite being a "cream" foundation, it didn't have a lot of slip and went on feeling quite dry. It looked very matte, and I'm just not into that look anymore--accentuates the negative.

Liquid -Sonia Kashuk - Hydro-Tint SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]
kmellone 11/17/2004 5:20:00 PM
For the price, there's probably no better tinted moisturizer on the market. I bought this to use while I was traveling through Southeast Asia and I really liked it. It has a nice consistency, blends well, and doesn't feel heavy. It stayed on pretty well through 95 degree temperatures and 90 percent humidity (although I inadvertently wiped most of it off while mopping my sweaty face)! A good buy.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in medium deep
kmellone 11/17/2004 5:14:00 PM
I've been self-tanning for ten years and I've tried 'em all: St. Tropez, Neutrogena, Clarins, Lancome, etc. Lately I've been doing the spray tan in a booth but that gets pricey. I bought this recently to try and prolong a lovely tan I got while in Thailand. The color is beautiful and my skin feels nice and soft. It's a darker color than my typical Clarins, but I actually kind of like that. I'll have to wait to see how it fades, but so far, pretty great.

Makeup Brushes -Bobbi Brown - Concealer Brush
kmellone 2/1/2004 12:08:00 AM
This is my third and final concealer brush. I have very fair, thin skin, so when I break out or have dark circles, it's very pronounced. I just bought this brush a few days ago, and already I know it's my HG. I just take a tiny tab of concealer, dab it on my hand and use this brush to just lightly tap the concealer over the offending area. It allows for excellent control, so you cover only what you need to. Amazing!

Loose Powders -Sonia Kashuk - Barely There Loose Powder in Naked
kmellone 2/1/2004 12:02:00 AM
Love this stuff. Definitely my HG powder...was skeptical because of the price (oh, I'm such a brand snob) but it's truly the best powder I've ever used. Very finely milled, and just adds a nice finishing touch to my makeup.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Matte Silk Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
kmellone 1/31/2004 11:54:00 PM
This is good foundation--don't get me wrong. But it's not quite the HG for me...despite being oil free and having an [allegedly] matte finish, I find that I need to blot my nose and chin about four hours after applying this product. And I definitely need a sheer powder over it, too. So, despite having pretty good skin, I need foundation, concealer AND powder. Not really what I was going for, and not worth the ungodly price I paid! Once I use this up, I'll go back to my Prescriptives Virtual Youth, which despite not being oil-free, didn't leave me oily at midday. I should have never strayed...

Highlighters -Cle de Peau - color control foundation (white)
kmellone 11/17/2003 12:56:00 PM
I bought this after reading that it helped even out the complexion. I have fairly clear but translucent skin, so any redness looks very apparent. This product does leave a slight white cast, but you really don't need too terribly much--I dip in a Q-tip and apply just that much to my whole face. It makes me skin luminous, and I use it either alone or with a touch of concealer. For a big night out, I'll apply foundation on top of this product, and find that my skin just glows--and my makeup stays put all night long. It's pricey (and hard for me to get--I live in California), but I would definitely buy again.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Gelee Auto Bronzant Express - Self-Tanning Instant Gel
kmellone 8/12/2003 7:44:00 PM
I've tried other, cheaper brands (Neutrogena foam--ick!) and Clarins Gelee is the BOMB. It gives even, streak-free color and it stays on for days. Best of all--it dries instantly! I know some women like the tanner with bronzer, but I'm an athlete and work out every day. I used some of the stuff with bronzer while wearing a white track shirt--that was an embarassing incident. Yikes.

I can't believe it, but this mascara actually DOES curl my hopelessly short and stubby lashes.

So far, so good. I've used oil-free NARS and PX foundations forever, and they worked really well on me. Recently, though, since I've moved into the mid-thirties age bracket, my skin is much drier. Also--I'm getting married in two months, and at my engagement party, the oil-free PX reacted REALLY badly with the flash photography...I looked ashen in all my pics! I've heard that there's some ingredient in oil-free foundations that can do that. Word to the wise!
