Polishes -Lippmann Collection - Prelude to a Kiss
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 8/9/2003 10:59:00 AM

I always here that the celebrities are wearing these brand of n/p, so I decided to cave at Nordstrom and try one. Due to dress/make-up code resitrants at my job, I must wear natural/skin tone appropriate colors, which ruled out any of the dramatic deep colors in the collection. Instead, I chose "Prelude to a Kiss". This is a soft, milky pink color. It is more pink than Chanel's Natural Pink polish. The staying power of the polish is very good. I've had a few minor chips, but since the polish is light, it doesn't show. Overall, the color applied smoothy and evenly. It didn't fade. A bottle is $15, but you get slightly more polish than Chanel (which is $16.50 a bottle). I am defintely going to try other colors in the line.

Palettes -Giorgio Armani - Berries Palette
rated 4 of 5
kitty_catalina 8/9/2003 10:54:00 AM

My dad happened to be in NYC a few weeks ago and called me from SFA to see if there was anything that I wanted him to purchase, isn't he a sweetie? Well, I'd wanted the natural palette and missed out, but I thought I would try the Berries.

The amount of product is very small, but the size of the compact is convinient for travel. I have larger sizes of three of the four e/s, but I'm thinking of getting the other shade too. The colors are subtle and easy to layer for a sophisticated day look or a smokey evening look. The lip glosses are great too. There is a light pink and red raspberry color. Both are very sheer and can be layered. They are smooth and not gritty.

The only reason this gets a 4 l/s is b/c of the amount of product, but otherwise a fabulous GA product. I'm a huge fan of his line.

Palettes -Stila - Legally Blonde Elle Woods Look #2 (Cool)
rated 4 of 5

I am a huge LB fan, so I was excited to find that Stila had palettes to commemorate LB2:RWB. I tend to go towards warmer colors, so I surprised myself by picking the cool look. I guess b/c I figured my mother and I could experiment together. I just used the palette on her and while the shadows are pretty in the packaging, they are very sheer. I liked the sheer look, but I definitely have to play around w/ comparable BB purples to intensify the look! Overall as a set the look is great and fits in my collection. I'm during into a makeup snob b/c Giorgio Armani quality is far superior to this and so it's not as great as it could be for me.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Elle Pink Lip Glaze (from Legally Blonde)
rated 3 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/22/2003 6:36:00 PM

I've always been intrigued by the packaging of Stila's lip glaze, but was always put off by the price and the reviews here about how you get a small amount of product. When I decided to cave and get the LB2 cool palette (thanks to laraconn and gatsbygirl!), I was excited to try this l/g. The packaging on this product truly is terrible. It took forever for the product to twist upwards and out and when it did, there was so much excess. I feel like I've wasted quite a bit. The color is nice, but I disliked the tingling peppermint scent. I will definitely not purchase a lip glaze again on it's own. I would, however, use on if it was in a gift set.

Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Sheer Lipstick- #9
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/22/2003 6:32:00 PM

I chose this lippie b/c it is just a tinge darker than #10. #10 is my HG color and I wanted something a little deeper for days when I felt like a lipstick that is a little deeper. It is cool tone, yet flatters the warm tones in my skin. It's very YLBB raspberry. I like to top w/ gloss #4. Highly recommend!

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Shine Gloss #4
rated 5 of 5

My favorite of the 3 GA l/g that I have (1,3,4) in my growing stash. This is a very bronzy color in the tube, but on the lips it is warm and natural. I topped Sheer Lipstick #9, which is a cool raspberry pink, with this lip gloss and it made the most natural warm shimmer. I love to top Sheer Lipstick #10 w/ this for a dramatic, yet natural lip color!

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Shine Lip Gloss #3
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/22/2003 6:28:00 PM

GA lip glosses are incredible b/c they look great by themselves or topped on a lipstick. They contain no scent and are not sticky! What more can a girl ask for?!?!? This is a very natural pink shimmer w/ bronzey undertones (since it is from the Bronze Mania Collection). I wore it to work on Friday and it was perfectly natural (to meet requirements). Used as a topper on Sheer Lipstick #10, it's incredibly natural. I love it!

Eye Shadow -Giorgio Armani - Eye Shadow #9
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/22/2003 6:24:00 PM

My dad was in San Francisco on business last week. I asked him to stop by SFA, since he was only two blocks away. He was more than happy to stop at GA for me. I had him pick this e/s up for me, along w/ #7 and #8 (and a few other goodies). I was hoping to create a new look w/ just these products on the eyes, but this is so similar to #8 (only w/ shimmer) that I used this as my highlighter under the brow. Fabulous! Truly top quality!

Eye Shadow -Giorgio Armani - Eye Shadow #8
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/22/2003 6:22:00 PM

GA is simply the best cosmetics line ever! The product color range is amazing. Even though there are colors that are comparble to those in other more inexpensive brands (Stila, BB), GA is even better. #8 is great as a wash on the lid. I like to line my eyes w/ e/l #2 then top w/ the base e/s to soften the line. I absolutely love the look created by this product.

Eye Shadow -Giorgio Armani - Eye Shadow #7

After trying GA a few weeks ago, I'm hooked. I seriously wonder why I spend $$$ on any other product line. This is a soft brown/suede matte e/s. It's great as a natural crease color. I pair it w/ e/s #8/9 as a wash and #11 as liner (dry over #2 e/l). Fabulous!

Pressed Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy defense SPF 30 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/18/2003 8:42:00 AM

I purchased this powder for a little extra sun protection at work. I work outside in the Florida sun for nearly 8 hours per day (depends on my company's needs). I wear Clinique Super City Block SPF 25 and I decided that instead of topping w/ regular powder to set, this would provide an extra layer of protection for my skin.

Overall, this powder is very nice. It is a bit more chalky than what I am used to, but this actually the first low end powder that I have ever purchased. I find that blending w/ a large powder brush smooths things out a bit. The sponge applicator that comes w/ the powder is not of the highest quality.

Unfortunately, there are only 3 colors. The darkest is medium and is perfect for me, but I'm a light MMM. They could improve the color range.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Italian Ices Trio in Due (Apricot)
rated 5 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/1/2003 1:38:00 PM

While I liked the old trio packaging, the new packaging is even better. You get 3 full sized e/s in a durable cardboard palette. The palette is also refillable. The colors according to the MA are not yet permanent additions to the line, but that's life. I like the look - sheer & natural.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip Glaze Palette-The Peaches
rated 4 of 5
kitty_catalina 6/1/2003 1:37:00 PM

I have been wanting to try the lip glazes and polishes from Stila for awhile. However, a lot of people hear have said that the product doesn't last very long. Obviously, I'm not going to spend money on a potential addictive product, if it isn't going to last. What I really liked about the quad was the retractable lip brush. Long after the palette is used up, the brush will still be here. Personally, I think it is a nicer brush than my MAC covered lip brush.

The lip gloss colors are, however, a lot sheerer than I expected. There is a noticeable color in the palette, but on my lips it is hard to see. I like the non-sticky shine that the gloss imparts, so I'm overall very happy with it. The packaging is cute and convinient b/c of the mirror and being able to carry four colors at once.

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - #10
rated 3 of 5
kitty_catalina 5/20/2003 11:47:00 AM

The SA's at NM weren't very helpful in my quest to find a new foundation brush b/c they sold me this brush saying that it was for foundation. It seems like everyone here is using it for eyes. I was gullible enough to believe them b/c it was a similar head shape to GA's blender brush (which I stupidly did not purchase when I had my makeover). Anyway, I'm using this brush for the LSF foundation and FS highlighter. It works well and applies the color evenly, but the bristles are not really thick. My previous foundation brush was thin, so I thought that this was also a foundation brush b/c I cannot see this being used as an e/s brush. My BB e/s blender is much thicker. At $26 it is a bit of an investment, but not a huge one.

Makeup Brushes -Giorgio Armani - Eyebrow Brush
rated 5 of 5

During my GA makeover at SFA Chicago w/ Tony, he used this brush as a way to smudge my e/l on my lids. He never used it as a brow brush. The bristles are smooth and firm. Highly recommend. Unlike my BB brow brush, the bristles on this brush are gentle and soft.
