Masks -The Body Shop - Honey & Oat Scrub Mask
kirikadawn 3/10/2012 11:33:00 AM
Right after putting it on it starts burning like hell fire. Washed it off immediately and my face was completely red and irritated. Meh. Not buying again and regretting that I didn't do more research before buying.

Moisturizers -Clarins - HydraQuench Cooling Cream-Gel
kirikadawn 7/21/2011 1:02:00 AM
I really wanted to love this since I loove their gentle foaming cleanser but... meh. It's very hot here in the summer (and very cold in the winter) and my usually dry and flaky skin has turned into an oil slick this summer and every moisturizer just makes it worse. This is no exception. I'm still oily like crazy and it feels too heavy. I was expecting something that is more gel and less cream but this is more like a cream then a gel. It doesn't break me out though so at least there's that. It also smells odd to me. In any case I'd conclude that this did not deliver what I had hoped it would. But I will give it another go when the weather gets colder, perhaps it will be good for that. For now, I'm sadly not impressed.

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
kirikadawn 7/18/2011 2:12:00 AM
This is hands down the best eye makeup remover I have ever tried and cheaper then many others. I have sensitive eyes and combine that with the need to wear waterproof mascara and you've got a decent puzzle there. This solves the problem. It doesn't sting, makeup just slides off and I couldn't ask for more. I will definitely repurchase.

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Extension Effect Waterproof
kirikadawn 7/18/2011 2:05:00 AM
I live in a relatively wet environment and I'm always looking for a good waterproof mascara that doesn't clump, flake or smear and that would actually be waterproof so I wouldn't look like a panda after walking in the rain/snow. This I think is it. It doesn't go anywhere from my lashes and it dries very quickly which is important to me because I wear glasses and I need my lashes dry fast to put my glasses on and go. I love that it leaves natural lashes but if you're looking for something dramatic, this isn't it. It holds curl well, better then anything else I've used. For me it comes off easily, I use Neutrogena oil-free makeup remover and it just slides off. I will definitely repurchase. EDIT: Well. Okay after giving this a decent try (as in using it daily for about three weeks), I have to say this is not the best option for sensitive eyes. Too bad :( My eyes were really uncomfortable and slightly burning but I thought it's my eyeliner so I kept switching eyeliners. But as soon as I tried out Bourjois mascara for sensitive eyes, the burning stopped. So this mascara burns my eyes. Drat!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
kirikadawn 7/11/2011 1:56:00 AM
Due to my work I wash my hands countless times every day and needless to say, that leads to extremely dry skin, in the winter even cracking and bleeding. But this hand cream saves the day! It moisturizes like nothing else. I use it at night because it doesn't sink in fast and leaves a hemp scent to my hands, neither of which I can have on my hands when working. But by the morning, my hands are back to normal, ready for another day that wreaks havoc on them. The packaging however truly sucks. I've gone through three tubes by now and on every tube, the cap has broken and it makes for a messy and unhygienic package. So in short: Pros - saves even the most desperate hands, does it fast. Cons - bad packaging, smell, takes a long time to absorb. I am definitely buying it again and again.

Toners -Guinot - Refreshing Toner
kirikadawn 7/10/2011 3:00:00 AM
I love this toner! It's the first toner I've used that actually does something! Or well that feels like it's doing something. It has urea in it so that explains why it's quite moisturizing and that is excellent for me. Also a huge plus is that my skin seems to like it and hasn't broke out or gotten angry at me. My odd troubled skin tends to overreact at anything and everything. The scent is divine though perhaps not everyones cup of tea. It does have a rosy scent with something else that I can't put my finger on. I love it. The packaging is good but not perfect. The flip cap isn't attached too securely and mine broke on the first use which makes it a tad bit hard to maneuver. But I do like it that you have to squeeze a bit to get it out, so it doesn't just flow out uncontrollably. This I will definitely buy again and again, HG status for sure!

Cleansers -Clarins - Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed for Normal or Combination Skin
kirikadawn 7/10/2011 2:53:00 AM
My HG for sure! It takes very little to wash the entire face, only about a pea sized amount. It lathers up very well (make sure your hands are wet though, not just damp), cleans the face quickly and thoroughly, no need to wash twice like with some face washes and it also comes off very easily, don't have to soak yourself in water half the day to get it off. I've had fewer breakouts with it which is a small miracle on its own and this will definitely be a staple in my regime. It doesn't dry my skin which is also amazing, I have very troublesome skin and I've gone through a lot of face washes and cleaning lotions, nothing has ever been so kind to my face as this. The packaging is nice, I quite like the tube. It allows for better amount control then a pump would since it takes so little and it's quite dense so a pump wouldn't be good anyway. The price is good considering it lasts a looong time. Absolutely my favorite!

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Cracked Heel Treatment
kirikadawn 7/9/2011 7:21:00 AM
It's a so-so product for me. I have a very angry red dry and cracked patch on both of my feet (on top of the bone) and nothing has helped with them. Different from other lotions this actually sinks in, others have just lingered on top of the patch, going nowhere except into socks (well moisturized socks at least! :D). I've been using this religiously twice a day and yep, it sinks in. But there is absolutely no difference in the appearance of the patches. So I sincerely doubt it would work wonders with cracked heels. Smells nice though!

Fragrances -Kenzo - Flower
kirikadawn 7/9/2011 7:13:00 AM
My HG for sure! I've been coming back to this again and again ever since my dad first gave me a bottle for my 15th birthday. I have a hard time finding perfumes that work on me. I might like them on cards but on me they turn sickly sweet and yucky very fast (I've actually used mens perfumes at times because of that). This is one of the very few that don't do that. It changes but it's actually less flowery and a bit spicy on me. I love the bottle too, sleek and simple. It is a bit to the expensive side but not that bad if I get a 100ml one, that lasts forever and then some. I will most definitely use this until the day they discontinue it and then I will cry :P

Moisturizers -Eucerin - AQUAporin active Rich
kirikadawn 7/7/2011 2:37:00 AM
The texture is nice, it just glides on without any effort and doesn't leave a weird gluey layer behind like many do. However for me it just does not work at all. My skin is troublesome, my cheeks are fine but my forehead and nose are dry to the point of flaky and oily on the same time. So I bought this hoping it would moisturize enough so that my skin would stop overreacting. What I ended up with was extremely oily skin. I gave it a week but it only got worse. My skin did end flaking but I looked crazy shiny and oily and yucky. So from me, no repurchase. I will give it a second chance in the winter when my skin gets superdry, at least it should be good for eyebrows (in the winter my eyebrows flake like I have dandruff or something :P). I'm guessing it should work better for someone who has a bit more straightforward dry skin. I like that it has no real scent and the tube is better then a jar would be for sure.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
kirikadawn 7/2/2011 4:17:00 PM
I love what EVOO does to my hair! I don't dare put it on my face, I have a scary weird skin so I won't even try. If I get an allergic/sensitive reaction, the battle will last for weeks so I'm not up to the challenge just yet. But I've been using EVOO in my hair and scalp and it's awesome! I just slap it in at least two hours before shower and baby soft shiny hair is guaranteed. My hair is very dry from the constant coloring and bad luck with hair products so I didn't even know my hair can feel that awesome. So yes, thumbs up for EVOO! And btw, although irrelevant, it has worked wonders for my cat :D She has hairball issues so I've added a tiny bit to her food regularly and not only has that made things easier for her, she also has a superpretty shiny coat now :)

Conditioner -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Professionnel Color Guard System Vitamino Color Conditioner
kirikadawn 7/2/2011 4:13:00 PM
I wanted to love it, oh how I did. I've been using the cheap L'Oreal color protect conditioner for years and other than the smell, I spotted no difference. It does moisturize a little but that's it, a little. So... + Smells nice + Conditions.. kinda - Very expensive for what it is - The cheaper version does the exact same thing I guess it might be different for different hair but for me, no luck. I'm very sad about that, I've had years of misses with hair products, I did hope this will finally be the HG conditioner I've been searching for. But no dice. Edit: some washes later I must take off some lippies. It's just awful. It leaves a gunky residue in my hair, no matter how much I rinse. Yuck! Can't wait to receive my next attempt at finding a good conditioner in the mail so I could throw this away.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Professionnel Color Guard System Vitamino Color Shampoo
kirikadawn 7/2/2011 4:10:00 PM
Well.. I really really wanted to like this. I've been using the cheap L'Oreal shampoo with color protect for years and honestly, besides the smell, it has no difference at all. My hair is still dry, scalp still tight and flaky (not dandruff, my scalp is so dry it flakes) and I think my hair is now frizzy as well to top it all off. So... + Smells nice + Washes hair :P - Very expensive for what it is - The cheaper version does the exact same thing I guess it might be different for different hair but for me, no luck. I'm very sad about that, I've had years of misses with shampoos, I did hope this will finally be the HG shampoo I've been searching for. But no dice.

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Tummy Butter
kirikadawn 6/27/2011 9:35:00 AM
I bought this to try to fight the existing stretch marks that have appeared randomly since I was 13. So a good 13 years. My stretch marks tend to be on the deeper side, nasty dark red and purple ones. So I figured hey, I'll try this. Pros: + Smells nice + Feels like you're actually getting something on there + Relatively cheap compared to other options Cons: - Very VERY thick and hard to get out and spread evenly - Doesn't seem to do anything for my stretch marks - So far can't tell it has prevented new ones (once a day for 4 months of using here) Sooo... I don't think I'll get a refill. Maybe it will help with preventing stretch marks on normal people who have a reason for them (well.. pregnancy for example :P) but doesn't seem to do much for deep random ones. I'll move on to find something else that doesn't take this much elbow grease to use.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Spa Wisdom Polynesia Monoi Moisture Balm
kirikadawn 6/27/2011 9:28:00 AM
Oh man, this is such a great product! Not only does it smell heavenly, it's also a really good moisturizer. I got the small 50ml jar as a present a while back and it still lasts. I mainly use it on my elbows and legs. I would love to buy a bigger jar but my TBS doesn't have it anymore. I don't know why. Oh well. I still have plenty in the 50ml though! Overall thumbs up for sure! The only downside for me is the jar (again), try it or not, I just don't fancy putting my fingers in a jar over and over again over months. Doesn't sound very clean to me.
