Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
kinkat 1/31/2013 2:39:00 AM
I do the following: - - take a small swab of Take The Day Off balm, rub it in my palms and gentlely smear it all over my face - let the balm sink in my face for about a min or two - dab off some of the balm with a tissue - use luke warm water, work a bit of Rinse-off foaming cleanser onto my palm into a lather and massage over my face and be very careful around the eye area. This procedure has successfully helped me take of all the makeup I use and own including water proof products. Some other cleansers can't seem to remove the balm residue. With this product my face feels clean. I do not think it would remove makeup in an immediate step but then again, I'm not keen on scrubbing my face very hard. I rather spend a few more minutes to remove the makeup delicately. The balm seems to do a great job with just melting off the makeup. Hope this insight works for you too! Although I don't like the packaging I don't really think there is another way to hold it. Also it is a balm so you will not risk spillage like other liquid makeup removers!

Cleansers -Clinique - Rinse-off foaming cleanser

I received this as part of a sample and have only recently used it. I have never used a cleanser alone to clean off make-up. Conditioner -Redken - All Soft Conditioner
kinkat 1/26/2012 9:39:00 PM
Ive pretty much got my whole skincare routine worked out so I decided to progress to my hair. Due to occassionaly swimmig in chlorine pools and use of hot irons my hair looks a little lifeless. I have only used drugstore brands. I bought this in a pack with the shampoo. I was a bit disappointed when i was washing my hair with it as i was expecting some invigorating feel. The feel was also about the same when i conditioned it. However that feel came after my hair dried. My experience so far is that it makes my hair feel so soft wihout the weighing down feeling (arm pit length hair). I have only used it for 2 weeks but i have not noticed any amazing shine. I guess his product is called All Soft and not All Shine for a reason! After my first use I went to work and many ppl asked me if i got a haircut. With such comments at just one use i cant wait to make an update about this product after i finish the bottle. Yes the price is a factor but i think the results r worth it and at this stage i will buy again :) Not sure if this product will attract build up but i intend to use a clarifying shmapoo once every 2 or 3 weeks anyway.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Cancer Council of Australia Toddler Sunscreen
kinkat 12/28/2011 6:46:00 AM
I live in sunny Queensland. I have been using the Toddler sunscreen for my face and the Ultra for other areas of my body. The Toddler feels a bit more heavier on my face. I do find that I smell quite like sunscreen after putting it all on but it goes away in a few min (unless I have become accustomed to it.) I've been using this combination for about a month and haven't experienced any adverse affects on my skin or feel that I have tanned more. Admittedly, I do still quite use other forms of sun protection: umbrellas, sunglasses, hat and long sleeved clothing. It is quite cheap and I use a substantial amount. I don't often re-apply as I do not always have the opportunity to clean my face/body and re-apply a fresh coat. I'm not keen on layering sunscreen on top of dirty skin. I have previously purchased a big pump but as I am using it myself I have long learnt that I'm better off buying the110mL tubes and finishing them up in 6 months rather than have the pumps lingering around for a long period of time. Nonetheless, I feel protected wearing this sunscreen and feel good about it going to a good cause.

Bath Treatments -Clarins - Bain aux Plantes Relax (Relax Bath)
kinkat 1/7/2011 2:01:00 PM
I bought this based on the good reviews and I definately agree. I have only used it with warm/hot water and not cold water. Its definately very relaxing and I even fell asleep on a few occassions. U're supposed to use a cap but I just squirt a bit and I definately think its sufficient for my needs. I have eczema and it has not reacted becoz of using this. Its a bit pricey but its worth a buy even if u can only use it on stessful times. I cannot afford regular massages and I believe that a good bath definately does yours muscles and mind wonders. So I think of the money I am saving by having less massages and more baths!

Eye Shadow -Kanebo - KATE Dual Carat eyeshadow duo
kinkat 10/17/2010 6:49:00 AM
If eyeshadow can last through a night of steamy salsa dancing and with the assistance of UDPP and MAC Fix+ then I will give it a good rating. And this product did last through without any noticeable fading. I bought this when I was in HK. I didn't try it out to a year later. It says KATE dual carat and on the back it says its by Kanebo and a code saying BK-1. It is silver and black. The silver gives a good shine without the glittre overload and blends nicely with the silver. Very dramatic night time eyes. without UDPP and Mac Fix+ (Visine or whatever u use) the product isn't going to stay and barely shows up. When I go to HK next I'm going to stock up on these eyeshadows. I can't recall how they cost but it was from SaSa and not expensive.

Eyes -MAC - Eyeliner Mixing Medium
kinkat 11/11/2008 1:41:00 AM
I had to order this product from the Pro-Store. I heard you can just use water, vaseline or eye solutions as a mixing medium but since I have quite watery eyes (contact wearer) I decided to fork out the extra bit of money esp considering the costs u pay for pigments and the good reviews here :) Today is the first day I have used it. I used pigment in violet underneath my black eyeliner. It has lasted 8 hrs so far with only a very slight smudge (but sorta gives it a smoky look!) I did (carefully) put a bit of UD primer on the bottom of it all though. I squirted the tinniest bit on an old contact lense lid and mixed pigment in it. I'm not really sure how much pigment to add... but I suppose less is a safer option. I then used an angle brush and applied it to my eye. I did not feel that I added enough pigment so I just dipped my brush in the pigment and lined again. PERFECT! I suppose from experience I would learn how much ratio of medium to pigment I would need to achieve the intensity that I like. I still had medium left overs... Truthfully thats the beauty of it all a product that can turn any of MAC's pigment colour into an eyeliner in which you can CONTROL: 1. The type of colour (whole range of pigments); 2. Intensity of the colour (start with less); and 3. Thickness of the line I have not tried the product with other eyeshadows or powders. I have not tried it as an eyeshadow either but I'm sure it would have amazing staying power (yet expensive as u can use other products to achieve this as your upper lid will not be as prone to watery smudgness). Again, I cannot compare it with other products but even with such a tube and the amount of usage, I doubt I'll ever have to buy it again... Will possibly update...

Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
kinkat 9/15/2008 9:04:00 AM
Like most products I try nowadays, I check out the reviews on MUA before I make a purchase. I purchased this product from SN and I tried it on for the first time tonight. I used to have combination but since I started wearing makeup everyday for around 10 hours (even though I use MM face powder) my face has become more like combination skin. I have minor blackhead problems on my nose but I also have a large pore there as well as minor whitehead problems on my chin. I sometimes have a few odd spot break outs. Like most reviewers commented, it is more effective to leave this mask on for an extended period of time. I put a thin layer. The smell does not affect me as it smells therapeutic. However, this product makes my eye sting a bit even though I did not put it anywhere near the eye! I rinsed off the mask after 1 hour because the tightness was starting to get the better out of me and I was concerned that I might develop some adverse reaction from leaving it there too long. I had no trouble removing the mask with warm water. My skin felt smooth and clensed. I did not noticed much difference in relation to my pores though. I guess this is only the first time. I think I can only use this mask on my cheeks once a week otherwise they will dry out. I have now applied the product on my chin overnight and will continue to do so every night for a week and then update.

Misc Beauty Tools -Dermalogica - The Face Brush
kinkat 8/6/2008 6:36:00 PM
I originally wanted to buy the Clarasonic brush or the DHC facial brush but since none of them stock in Brisbane and I am not going overseas anytime soon, I decided to go with this one based on the positive reviews here. And I'm not disappointed! I use makeup everyday. Although I've switched to using MMU, I'm still concerned that my cleanser is not working hard enough (I have to finish off a cleanser called "Sewane" - mild stuff). I've tried this product also with Neutrogena's Deep Cleanse (for all skin types) but I don't find it very effective (perhaps use this first to clear out makeup in your skin.) You need to use something creamy or foamy with this brush. My routine now consists of firstly, swiping my face with some makeup remover with a cotton ball. Then I wash my face with a bit of face wash. Then I use a LITTLE BIT of face wash, spread it evenly across my face, wet the brush and start a scrubbing spree. I sort of wash my face twice because the first one is supposed to get rid of all the make up I can and the second one is to really get into the pores. The last thing you want to happen is for the brush to be rubbing more make up into your pores. (I got this tip from readint the reviews on the Clarasonic brush.) I only do this procedure when I have applied makeup on that day which is usually weekdays. My facial skin actually feels refreshed from the whole experience. It feels cleansed and smooth. It absorbs my moisturizer much better. I actually stopped using my scrubs and other exfoliators which ultimately are unnatural compared to merely using a brush. I leave such treatments to occassional treatments at a beauty salon. I've saved so much money so I consider it a good investment. I'm not sure of the strength I use to scrub my face. Perhaps medium? I think its best to start lightly and see how much your face can handle. Since I have oily t-zone areas I scrub those places a bit harder. I know you are probably not supposed to do the eye but I do one or two strokes very very gentley. I do my cheeks a bit gentler as well. A beauty therapist advised me once that people should never start with the cheek as they tend to do it very hard and overscrub it so its best to start with your neck or oily areas first. So I try not to make it my first point of contact. I then scrub all the way down my neck as I sometimes bring my makeup down that far. I tend to scrub harder when I'm away from my face. I don't scrub for to long - just a few massaging circles for each area and I'm done. I think the design is quite nice and I like the little box. If you travel with it, at least it will not get squashed. I'm a bit concerned about how to clean the brissels though as I do not know what sort of material it is made of. (used it for about 1 month now). I just leave it to dry and if you have hooks, this brush has a handy hole at the end of it. I shall try a bit of dilute detol and warm water sometime. Cost wise, yes it is worth it considering on all the other products you will save. It has made a great difference to my skin. I now think most people do not clean their face properly after they wear makeup. I have learnt that making sure you skin is TOTALLY makeup free at the end of the day is a very important procedure to healthy, radiant and young skin. Wow that was a long review! Now go buy it!

Brows -Unlisted Brand - castor oil
kinkat 7/23/2008 11:57:00 PM
When my sister saw this on my table, she asked "Isn't this used for cars?" Not really sure where exactly I picked up this use for eyelashes/brows but I was surfing the net considering to buy expensive lash extension products. I searched for it on MUA and after reading the good reviews I decided to give it a try- natural and cheap so it shouldn't hurt. I bought it at a local pharmacy. The assistant asked me what I'm doing it and I said hair growth. She then looked at me funny. Instructions on the label says that it can be used externally as a emollient and internally as a laxative (and a warning saying that it can be addictive!) Anyways I've used it for 2 months now. At first, I used a Q-tip (cotton bud) to neatly brush it on my lashes and brows. After a month I became restless with this regime and just pour a little bit out and basically smother my eye with it. I think its been great as an overall eye-cream! It seems to dry out in about 2 hours time. The only downside is the smell. Also since I wear glasses at night time some inevitably rubs off on my glasses which gets a bit irritating. My eyelashes sustain heat and mascara everyday (I heat my eyelash curler.) They were starting to seem a bit weak but applying castor oil at night has seemed to improve their condition. Not sure about increasing their length but they seem slightly thicker. Its most noticeable for my bottom lashes. The skin around my eyes seem a bit better as well. No need for expensive eye creams.

Eyeliner -MAC - Liquidlast Liner - Point Black
kinkat 7/16/2008 7:54:00 AM
After reading the MUA reviews, I was expected this product to absolutely glue to my eye. This product is better than Fluid Line but it does not always stay on me. I sometimes find chuncks of it missing! It doesn't happen all the time and I have not worked out what I do (or don't do) that causes this. And then at times it works perfectly fine and stays on my eyes through the whole entire day. When I bought the product, even the sales warned me about the brush. She said the key was to wipe off some of the product first before you use it (more like 75% which would be a huge waste.) However, I was persistent to find a good waterproof black eyeliner and bought it. I said I'll try using it with the angle brush. Its a bit hard to use it this way as you will not achieve a good like as with Fluid Line. Also the product is very thick and dries fast. Being waterproof it is very difficult to wash out the product. Its best to leave it dry (I don't wash it immediately after use.) I go home after a day of work and after a shower, I then wash the brush. Until I can find out what is causing the flakiness, I am going to only give this a 3 lippie.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Vanilla
kinkat 7/8/2008 11:55:00 PM
I bought this product based on the reviews here. At the moment I am only using the product as an eye highlighter and it is great. I like how it comes on in a sheer-transparent sort of way and you can then build it up if you want more. I generally apply it minimally to my brow bone. By only using a bit, it looks natural and also allows your skin colour to show through. Everyday I gasp at the difference when I apply to one eye and then look at the other with none on. I also use it on the inner corner of my eye. I line my eyes a bit over 75% of the way with black eyeliner, then finish the rest using a white eyeliner. I then dab a little bit of this on top of the white eyeliner. It seems to set the white eyeliner (waterproof Prestige) and does not smudge all day. In fact the MAC's fluidline smudges by the end of the day but the white just stays put (trying the liquidlast now but will write a review after a few more uses!) I have also tried the "C" highlight around the cheekbone from the eye but it doesn't seem to have much effect on me. I have not tried other uses of this product yet. I am not that keen on trying it as an eyeshadow alone as I'm quite happy just using it as a highlighter. I will update when I do so. I think it might be good to use on top of cheap matt eyeshadows - may brighten and set them. I am asian skin and always seek to make my eyes appear bigger without an over-the-top way. I think this product can be used by most ppl by controlling the amount of product you use. Unfortunately this product is only stocked at a "pro" store and there is none in Brisbane. I had to get it sent here and costed $45!!! So the cost was what postponed me to purchase this product. However, I have not even used what is on the second clear strip plastic lid (like the second lid) so there is plenty of product to last for a while. As most other reviewers have also commented, the packaging is quite terrible. I feel like an accident is bound to occur. For now I am only using what is on the clear plastic lid. I stand the product upright (as well all loose powders) but I'm really afraid of bumping it in my makeup box. I rather there was a big container for the same amount of product. Updated: I've tried using this product in conjunction with my blush. I'm currently trying to finish off some cheapo blush. I brush my blush on and then a bit of this product on top of it. It seems to highlight the cheeks better (without some huge shine) and give the blush better staying power. If you have a good blush that you're happy with then this product probably isn't needed though experimenting with a bit of it shouldn't harm is quite sheer.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Miss Popularity Precision Highlighter For Eyes And Face
kinkat 7/8/2008 11:42:00 PM
I did not actually buy this product but I went to the BeneFit counter and the sales assistant applied it on me. I didn't really take note of the packaging... but usually if a product is good, I will purchase it and somehow make the most out of it. Anyways, it indeed, highlights my eye BUT in the most unnatural and over -the-top way. I have asian skin and I think this product may work better on fairer skin (I'm not sure if there are different shades of this product.) It also had a yellow tinge and I seriously do not like that. I'm sticking to MAC's vanilla pigment.
