Treatments -Aveda - Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother
rated 5 of 5

My hair: fine (but lots of it), color treated, wavy, with frizzy ends. I blow dry my hair straight, but prior to using this product, my hair would be frizzy looking, not sleek. Now, when I use this in my hair, after blowing my hair dry it is much more sleek. I use this in conjunction with a few pumps of Phomollient (which I have been using for somewhere around 8 years) and the two make a great combination. I also use Light Elements Smoothing Fluid as a finisher to further "sleeken" my hair, especially on the ends. I don't know how, but the style prep smoother definitely does what it says!

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
rated 5 of 5

I have abandoned every eye cream I have ever tried. They either aren't moisturizing enough or sting and give me terrible rashes. My eye area is bone dry and very eczema prone. For the longest time I was just using my facial moisturizer (Cerave) on my eyes because I was sick of trying eye creams. Then I tried this stuff. It is great. I use it 2x a day, and my eye area is hydrated. No rashes or stinging. I don't believe in miracle skin products that are supposed to do all this wonderful stuff. This eye cream is not going to work miracles, but it does moisturize really well and is reasonably priced. Good enough for me.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Cream
rated 5 of 5

Love it. I have been using Cerave for a few years now, but in the winter my skin gets so dry (I live in Colorado) that Cerave just doesn't cut it. I also use a retinol treatment on my face as well which is drying. This moisturizer does a great job of keeping my skin hydrated. My face does feel slightly tacky even a few hours after putting it on, but that personally doesn't bother me. Much better than feeling dry. This cream is very gentle, no fragrance, and nice thick texture. It is also pretty inexpensive as far as moisturizers go so I don't feel bad using it pretty liberally. Highly recommend if you have very dry skin that can be finicky.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
kimmie578 1/8/2013 11:13:00 AM

Unfortunately for me, Cetaphil was a fail. There was a burning, stinging sensation upon contact when washing, and after a few days use, I had eczema and red patches all over my face. It also dried out my face. I would not say that my skin is super sensitive (as I can use retinoids no problem) but it is finicky. Switched over to Cerave cleanser and everything is fine now. Cetaphil does have some harsh ingredients, like SLS, I should have looked more carefully before buying it. If you are looking for a gentle cream cleanser, Cerave is a bit more expensive but has better ingredients.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Eye Basics - Wheat
rated 5 of 5

I have been using this for 3 years. As a busy stay at home mom, I don't even wear eyeliner and eyeshadow anymore, I don't have the time and honestly don't care. I just use this, the LM under eye concealer, and mascara and I'm good to go. When I used to have time to put on eyeshadow and liner, and wore this underneath, my make up looked just as good at the end of the work day as it did first thing in the morning. Now, I just swipe in on my eyelids, it takes away the redness and wakes my eyes up. Basically I can't live without this stuff.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
rated 1 of 5
kimmie578 5/5/2012 11:41:00 PM

I made the mistake of buying this online without trying it first. I really like Orgasm blush so I figured this would be great. I was wrong. This is very peach and very frosty/metallic. Extremely unflattering with my fair skin and sandy blond hair. I bought Super Orgasm gloss which is pink, more sheer, and much much prettier.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Super Orgasm
rated 4 of 5

A very pretty pink color. Luckily, this is nothing like the regular Orgasm lip gloss, which I bought online without trying it first and is a frosty, metallic nightmare on my lips. This lip gloss does have some definite sparkles, but I don't think it is excessive, and I would consider this a great everyday color. There is just enough color and shine to perk up my lips.

Foundations -Laura Mercier - Moisture Supreme Foundation
rated 4 of 5
kimmie578 5/1/2012 5:12:00 PM

First off I did not use the old version of this product, so I cannot compare the new version to the old. However, I switched over to this from a Smashbox foundation, which turned out to be horrible. I went to the LM counter and got a correct color match, have been using this for about 5 days now and I really like it. The blush ivory is a perfect match to my skin, it has real staying power, and it doesn't look like I am wearing foundation. I would say it has medium to full coverage. What is really nice is that it provides enough coverage that I don't need to use concealer, I just put on a second layer of this foundation over blotchy areas. I do use LM illuminating tinted moisturizer underneath, since I don't like primers. Actually, my skin has been looking great the last few days since using this foundation, and I usually can't use the words "my skin" and "great" in the same sentence. I did also buy the special LM foundation sponges to apply this and I have to say those sponges really are better than cheap ones.

Blush -Laura Mercier - Pink Mosaic Shimmer Bloc
rated 5 of 5
kimmie578 4/30/2012 3:27:00 PM

I adore every product I have by Laura Mercier. This is no exception and as a matter of fact I think it is the best product I have. This product actually transforms my skin. I have a fairer complexion and use this as a blush, highlighter, but also use the lighter colors on my eyes too as a highlighter, like under the brow bone. I use a fan brush and swirl all the colors together and sweep on my upper cheekbones, up my temples and onto my forehead. The colors are soft and my skin looks radiant (which is a miracle). I am amazed at what a difference one product can make in the appearance of my skin ( I also simultaneously got a correct foundation match for my skin as well at the LM counter so that could be helping too). At first I was weary at the almost $40 price tag, but once the SA put this on, I was sold and didn't care how much it costs, I NEEDED it. I also love how I can use each color individually as well. If you are wanting to try this product, just go for it. You will not be disappointed!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter - Brazil Nut
rated 5 of 5
kimmie578 3/25/2012 5:44:00 PM

I have been using Body Shop Body Butters on and off since I was a teenager. My favorite has always been this one (which used to be called Nut Butter back in the day). I recently picked up a tub because I am pregnant and my skin has been really dry and itchy. This stuff moisturizes like none other. The scent is sweet, nutty, but very light. It is not greasy, but does take a bit of time to soak in. Price is steep, but a tub does really last a long time, and I lucked out and when I went in they were having a sale. Even still, this stuff is great and I would pay full price if I had to.

Blush -Make Up For Ever - HD Blush #6
rated 5 of 5
kimmie578 1/28/2012 12:14:00 PM

After years of using Nars Orgasm, I just made the switch to a cream blush because of my dry skin, and I was hoping cream blush would look better on. Well...it does! I thought that this color was the closest to Orgasm. I actually think it looks better. It is very highly pigmented so you only need a little bit, I can see the bottle lasting a while. I just apply with my fingers. What is great about this blush is that it actually looks like it is part of your skin instead of just some color sitting on top of your skin. You truly achieve that "glow from within" look with it (although I have to say I'm also pregnant but my skin hasn't figured that out yet, so the glow is from the blush I am sure). I'm really glad I tried this blush...it's a keeper.

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
rated 1 of 5
kimmie578 1/28/2012 12:06:00 PM

Let me tell you what skin type this foundation is perfect for: drier skin types who need light to medium coverage. If you fall outside those guidelines, get a sample first before shelling out $40 for a bottle. I have never used foundation in my life, but I needed a bit more coverage than my Laura Mercier TM because my eczema has been yucky lately. This provides more coverage than a TM,but not much more. It's pretty sheer. I actually use half of my TM (it is an illuminating one) and half of this foundation and just rub it on with my fingers, because like I said, coverage is pretty sheer and doesn't need any special applicator to apply. I happened to find a perfect color match, so looks great on, and doesn't look like I am wearing any makeup. Dust a little setting powder on top and I'm good to go. If you need full coverage, skip this foundation. If you have oily skin, you might want to skip this foundation too....this foundation has a lot of slip and I believe has silicones in it. My skin loves it but that is because my skin is very dry. Edit: After using this for a while longer, I didn't like it at all. Too sheer, didn't last throughout the day, turned orange after a couple hours on the skin. I switched to Laura Mercier, which I use for everything else, and her foundation is a million times better.

Styling Products -Aveda - Volumizing Tonic
rated 4 of 5
kimmie578 1/14/2012 4:11:00 PM

I have used this on and off through the years. It does exactly what it's name is: it volumizes your hair. I think it does a pretty decent job of doing that, without causing any build up. My only hang up with this product is that I do notice my hair seems drier on days I use this. When I use it in conjunction with the Light Elements Smoothing Fluid some of the dryness seems to go away. When I style my hair with the curling iron I use this product before blowing it dry and it does keep my curls looking bouncy and full all day.

Styling Products -Aveda - Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
rated 5 of 5
kimmie578 1/14/2012 4:06:00 PM

I use this in my damp hair before I blow dry my wavy hair straight. I heat style my hair a lot and the ends tend to get a little frazzled so I also will apply this on dry hair on the ends and throughout for added shine and to smooth the ends down. This product is great for adding shine to your hair and for keeping my blow out to look sleeker. Gotta be careful how much you use though...it is kinda oily and too much will make your hair look ick. Two pumps on damp hair, and 1 pump on dry hair is just the right amount.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar
rated 5 of 5
kimmie578 12/7/2011 3:23:00 PM

What else can I say, this stuff rocks. Doesn't strip my skin of moisture (I have very very dry skin). I have a lot of problems with eczema, and my dermatologist told me to use this as a cleanser. It doesn't upset my eczema either. For $3 a bar, which lasts half a year, you really can't go wrong with this cleanser! It's not flashy or fancy, just a basic white cleansing bar, but what it does for my complicated skin is worth it's weight in gold!
