Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Pearl Plum
rated 5 of 5
kimko 10/12/2009 9:36:00 PM

HG HG HG lipgloss! Oh my. I've been looking at this color because it looked so unique but I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. I usually wear pink lipgloss. I got it and let me say, I love it! It looks like a light plum with a hint of red. It's not a too much in your face color, it's subtle! I honestly think this is a color that can be used in the daytime or night time. There are sparkles but you can barely see them. It doesn't last too long but I'll gladly reapply it because I love this color so much. This lipgloss has a vanilla smell that you can smell in the container but it disappears when you put it on your lips. I am pale and this color would look super on darker skin tones too. For a drugstore lipgloss, Revlon did a super job.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Luxurious Color Eyeliner--Antiqued Gold
rated 4 of 5
kimko 10/10/2009 1:26:00 PM

After being not so pleased with Revlon's colorstay eyeliners, I was skeptical to try this one. If you are use to wearing brown eyeliners and are looking for a little something extra to spice up your daily makeup look, this eyeliner is for you. I find that black eyeliner doesn't look good on me and brown/gold eyeliners just look better. Antiqued gold has 2 sides to it. One is the eyeliner itself and the other side is a smudge brush. This gold color is on the darker side with shimmers in it. This color is gorgeous and I think it would look great on anyone. As for staying power, I find that it does start to fade throughout the day and sometimes you can't see it on your skin unless you draw it a lot.. it's really subtle for a daylook. You could also wear this eyeliner with a ton of eyeshadows and it'd look great! I still think it's a great color that everyone should try! I think it was around 8 dollars.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Blush Brush
rated 5 of 5
kimko 10/10/2009 1:15:00 PM

I needed a new blush brush so I purchased this brush after hearing all the super reviews about Ecotools. This blush is amazing for a drugstrore brand. The bristles are super soft and it's easy to use. I've experienced little shedding and it looks brand new. I paid around $7.99 for this brush which I think is a steal for blush brush this good. So far I've used it for bronzer and blush but it could easily be used for putting on powder. I highly recommend this brush and I'm sure the other brushes in this collection are amazing as well!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Swiss Chocolate
rated 3 of 5
kimko 8/2/2009 9:01:00 PM

I've heard different opinions on Covergirl's eyeshadows so I suppose they are a hit or a miss with people. This is my first Covergirl eyeshadow and I can't say I'm too thrilled with it. First off, if you are looking a pigmented medium toned brown, this shouldn't be your choice. I was surprised to find out this shadow appears as a super light brown on your eyes. I thought it would be much darker like it was in the pan.. It's almost a brown you can't see even when I use UDPP as a base. At the end of the day, it looks like I have plain glitter on my eyes with no color. To even make it look like a semi decent brown, I have to run my brush in the eyeshadow quite a few times. This eyshadow has a ton of glitter and will fall out around your eye. I just wished this would have more color payoff. I might try this in my crease with a different look. Overall I might try some more Covergirl eyeshadows but I'm not pleased with this one.

Polishes -Revlon - Raven Red
rated 5 of 5
kimko 8/1/2009 12:17:00 AM

This is my first Revlon polish and overall I've heard good things about them so I was excited to pick this color up. I'd been looking for a color Lauren Conrad had worn on a past episode of The Hills. It was a dark almost too dark red color. I don't think this nail polish is as dark as the red she was wearing but I think Raven Red comes pretty close. I haven't put it on my nails yet just on my toes. This nail polish dries super fast and the brush is great. The color itself would look great on all skin tones. I find that this red isn't too dark or too light, it's right in the middle. It's just a perfect classic retro red. If you're into more brighter cherry reds, Revlon has those too!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Godmother
rated 4 of 5
kimko 7/10/2009 3:17:00 PM

I was looking for reviews on this soap and couldn't find any so I just added it as a new product. This is the soap everyone says smells like swedish fish. This is a clear soap(I've heard people say that the clear soaps from Lush last longer) that is much darker then the picture posted on the site. It's more of a dark redish orange color, it almost looks like a soft brown color. The website says this soap is supposed to 'sparkle' but I don't see any sparkles in this soap. As for the smell, it smells delish. Unlike any fruity smell I've ever smelled and it just smells plain good. This soap tends to linger a little on your body(more than HIWTK) and it smells a little more different when it lingers. It smells much more like a darker fruit. Godmother doesn't produce a big lather but I find that this soap is moistrizing. This soap has the smell of Snow Fairy shower gel, I've never tried the shower gel so I can't say! Godmother is also one of Lush's cheaper soaps costing $5.95 for 3.5 oz. If you like Midnight Pomegranate and Black Amethyst by B&BW, you should try this one because Godmother has a rich fruity almost dark smell to it like those two have. This soap by Lush makes my top 5.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner
rated 1 of 5
kimko 7/2/2009 11:18:00 PM

Disapointing. I had heard such great things about this eyeliner so I decided to pick it up in brown since I find black is too harsh for me. First the good things about this eyeliner is that I love that it comes with a sharpener, it makes it much more convenient to just to stick in your purse. I also find that I prefer eyeliner in a nice little plastic pencil stick to a regular old pencil. It's much easier to grasp in your hand. These are where the good things end and onto the bad things. :( When using this pencil, I found that it is SO hard to put on. It tugs your eye area and doesn't create a smooth line. You skip a lot of spots on your lid because of the tugging. You really have to go over the line often to make it look clear and straight. The other bad thing I found out is this eyeliner smudges almost an hour after you put it on. Not smooth and smudging after an hour are not good. I don't wear eyeliner often and when I do, I think I'll stick with liquid eyeliner.

Concealers -Urban Decay - 24/7 Concealer Pencil (all)
rated 4 of 5
kimko 6/24/2009 7:23:00 PM

I'm a fan of this. I was using one of Everyday Mineral's concealers when I finally decided that it was too messy and that I needed a new one. After buying UDPP, I grabbed one of these to put in my cart after reading the reviews. This pencil is super easy to use and store. I draw on my face the spots that need concealing and rub it it with my finger. This pencil is amazing for covering acne scaring and undereye circles; super creamy. The only problem is when I try and cover pimples, it tends to get a little chalky and leave a powder line around the pimple. Another problem I found is that they don't make too many colors. I'm pale and I use the 2nd shade in DEA. I thought DEA was too dark for me until I figured out that it is just right! Unless you're really pale, I'd get the 2nd shade. Other then those two issues, that I am very pleased with this pencil. Sometimes I go without foundation and just use the pencil for concealing.

Polishes -Avon - Nailwear Pro in Lagoon
rated 4 of 5
kimko 6/23/2009 9:09:00 PM

I wasn't too sure about Avon's nailpolish but I decided to pick this color up anyways. As a first time buyer of Avon nail polish, I'm glad I bought this color. I was hoping this color wouldn't be sheer but I was surprised because what you see in the bottle is what you get on your nails. The first coat was beautiful but it needed a second coat. The second coat was more like the bottle color. I would call this a periwinkle blue with a ton of shimmer. In sunlight, it almost looks like a light gray blue. This polish dries fast which is an added bonus. The brush is wide which I think is the best size. You might have to wipe the brush more because I find that this brush picks up a lot of polish. A great summer color for your nails and toes. I'll definitely be checking out some more colors!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Black Amethyst
rated 5 of 5
kimko 6/23/2009 1:39:00 PM

I picked up a mini shower gel in Black Amethyst when I was using a coupon and needed one more thing to use it. I was surprised that I enjoyed this scent so much because it sounds like a scent I would not particulary like. I have heard that this smells a little like Sensual Amber and I can see where people get that from but I never liked Sensual Amber. To me, this smells more sweeter. This is a rich dark scent but I don't think it's a masculine scent like some other reviews are saying because I can smell some sweet floral. It just smells good. The shower gel has a lasting smell on your body throughout the day. I think this is a unique winner from BBW and Black Amethyst is one of my favorites from them.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Sparkling Peach line
rated 4 of 5
kimko 6/20/2009 12:45:00 AM

Everytime I put on this lotion it reminds me of one the Suave children's shampoos I used to use as a kid. I swear one smells exactly like this lotion. This lotion has a very clean relaxing smell to it and I'm not sure if smells like peaches; it just smells good. The scent lasts throughout the day. For some reason, this lotion is super watery for me. It's the most watery out of all the BBW lotions I have. Overall, I don't think this lotion is must have but it's nice one to have.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
kimko 6/19/2009 8:39:00 PM

I thought this was a super mascara and then I tried other ones and concluded that it really isn't. Like most people here, this was my first mascara. This mascara really does nothing to your lashes; no volume or length. It really just coats them in black to make it look like something is happening. Even with that, I find this mascara clumps on me. The brush is small and nothing too special. I also find that when I use this mascara, at the end of the day it looks like I didn't put on mascara at all. I hate the label on the mascara bottle because it almost always starts to peel at the corners.

Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Body Double Mist Juiced Berry
rated 4 of 5
kimko 6/19/2009 8:25:00 PM

Oh man! How much do I love this lotion? A LOT. I picked up 3 lotions from a sale and this one was my favorite of the bunch. Juiced Berry smells sweet but very fruity and I also smell some cotton candy in it too. I don't think it smells too fake, just right. This lotion reminds me a lot of the strawberry Beauty Rush lotion only sweeter. Very moistrizing too! I recieved compliments asking what I had on so I do think this lotion lasts awhile on your skin. The only issue I have is the way you have to get the lotion out. The button you press gives out way too much lotion and you have to wipe the excess off of it.

Lips -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain
rated 4 of 5
kimko 6/19/2009 3:37:00 PM

This product came with one of my cover girl lipglosses and I wasn't sure if I'd like this. I don't wear lipsticks but I decided to give this one a go. This is a lipstain that looks exactly like a marker but goes on like a lipstick. I thought it would be more lighter but on your lips it looks like a lipstick almost. I find this easier to put on then regular lipstick because it works on my dry lips and even when my lips are moistrized. This lipstain smells wonderful, like a creamy berry smoothie with marshmallows. I don't see me wearing this too often but for special events, I'd choose this lipstain over lipstick. If you're daring enough to this everyday, try this or layer some gloss on top of it! My only problem with these is that the colors on the marker DO NOT look like the colors inside, most of the time they appear much darker.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - HIP Jelly Balm [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
kimko 6/18/2009 10:36:00 PM

I got the HIP Balm in Ripe. It was between another darker red and I didn't know how pigmented these were so I got the lighter red in Ripe. I've heard these compared to Tendertones and since there isn't a MAC store near me, I decided to test these out. Getting the lid off was a job, I don't know if mine was sealed extra tight because I just couldn't open it! I finally got it open and made sure the lid was put on more loos. I was pleased with the smell; it smells very sweet and almost like vanilla. The first coat I put on my lips with my MAC 316 brush was very shiny and I put on a another coat and it looked more slightly red. I don't mind using my lip brush with it but it could be a pain throughout the day. This jelly balm gives your lips a subtle pretty pinkish red shiny look to them. I've been looking for something that would give me that effect and that I could wear daily and I think I've found it. I love it but the price could be a little too much but I'd probably buy another one when they go on sale. If you're a gal who is looking to steer away from their usual lip balm and try something new, check out HIP Jelly Balms!
