Polishes -Hard Candy - Beetle

I love Beetle! My cat loves Beetle! A giant wolf spider chased after me while I was trying to paint Beetle on my nails.( It was him or me & I had to pulverize him with a folder I found nearby & he was in a few pieces & still trying to hop over & eat me & it was one of those times when you wish you had one of those Creme' Brulee torches because that mutant spider would not die easily & killing him destroyed my freshly painted mani but it's a great polish. It's a little sheer so it takes a few coats but it's best to spare some hassle & put on dark base first. I've liked Sapphire in the Snow but I am finding Color Club Wild At Heart to be a great base for many polishes. Beetle is very very multichromey. I've heard of it being compared to Rimmel Zeitgeist but I can't agree because that's like apples & oranges or beetles & spiders, they are completely different textures but both polishes have a big color assortment, Beetle is just more of a glitteryish polish & the other smooth. I have gone through 3 bottles & I have a healthy back up of these, I never want to be without a Beetle. It wears pretty well & it's stunning with 230 over it! The best part is that you can easily get Beetle for only $4! I've seen it on Ebay for $12 in listings that also say, "Rare" "VHTF", "Limited Edition", Bull donkey!! You can get it on Walmart.com for $4 & they deliver it free to your door. Why do I feel like I've reviewed this before? Anyway, it's a fabulous polish with a really cool effect.

Lovely! Even when you aren't in bright enough light to see the dazzling shimmer, you get this extraordinary color, like none I've ever seen before. It's purple, brown and gray but to look at it , is none of those, specifically. It's not an obvious any color, meaning, you wouldn't say, "Oh look, she's got purple nails," more like, "Oh wow, what is that color? I've never seen anything like it." Aside from all the funky duochromes and holos I love, this has to be one of the most interesting and fabulous polishes. I just erased Lincoln Park to put this on, so I'm used to dark nails and LOVE gray(except Zoya's Kelly, which was so gross and swampy dirty looking, it made me want to hurl). But this is just a classy dark and ultra flattering shade that says, don't analyze or label me, I just am. 2 coats made for an exceptional and opaque application and I am wearing it over CND Stickey and followed with Seche Top Coat. It's very smooth and looks amazing!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Drama

Nope nope no no no. Ughh. What is with that wonky brush? I'm sure the formula works well but not with that brush! What were they thinking? Definicils is very nice, but this one, not so much. I tried it with a different brush but what's the point of that? I am now convinced, mascara is just all in the brush. And my brush picks are; L'oreal Telescopic, Dior torture ball brush and the little plastic comb-y thing I have that might be for eyebrows. Glad this was just a deluxe sample and I didn't pay for it. Now I wish I hadn't been such a sweetheart and given my Laura Mercier sample away for nothing, I might have liked it.

Conditioner -ARTec - Kiwi Coloreflector Kiwi conditioner

Have been using this for several years in the Deep Treat Mask Formula and always bring a tube along during travel. I've since tried Fekkai, whom, I am completely enamoured with but before Fekkai, this was my go-to and best everyday conditoner . It's heavy duty I guess but I even use it as a leave in sometimes. I have long, fine curly frizzy hair that tangles terribly and the heavier conditioner, the better. I buy this in the jar with the pump and in the tube for travel and it's the best I had until meeting Fekkai. I kind of feel bad for neglecting it lately.

Conditioner -Pureology - Nanoworks Conditioner

Just as bad as the shampoo! Boo! I don't get it at all. Left my hair snarled with tangles and in no better condition. I think the only conditioning that occurred here is that this company made people believe that their product is worth forking over that kind of cash for a below par product. BS!

Gross! Was on backorder forever and finally got it and am disappointed. It looks nothing on like it does in the bottle or pictures. I painted nails and immediately wanted it gone but waited to see if I got used to it. I just took it off 6 hours later. If you are looking for a pretty gray, go elsewhere. This is a mucky, swampy bluish dirty color and not flattering at all. Had it looked remotely like it does in the bottle, I'd have enjoyed it but I couldn't stand looking at it and I feel so terrible for a mean and awful review like this but something about this color turned my stomach when I saw it on my fingernails. I'm sorry but me no likey.

Lipstick -Make Up For Ever - Rouge artist intense
kimbuyah 1/29/2011 3:09:00 AM
I am reviewing shade # 43 Moulin Rouge. in my photo, from left to right are; 1. Dior Diorific in # 013 Roulette Red ( what Nicole Kidman wore in Moulin Rouge film, from what I've read, with Clinique's, Think Red over top) 2. Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense # 43 Moulin Rouge 3. MAC RubyWoo 4. MAC Russian Red 5. Mac Brave Red Actually , the left to right photo arrangement of the red lippy group is indicative of my preference with my most favorite starting on the left. First off, I’d like to say that aside from it's rich vibrant color, the packaging of Moulin Rouge is also fantastic. Makes me think; Dark strange naughty under a cloud of smokey perfume. It's a pow pow cherry iconic Hollywood glam red, alright and it almost seems like it takes a few seconds to "light up" , similar to when you turn on flourescent lights and a bit of flickering occurs before they are all consistently bright and alive(Probably not unlike the Moulin Rouge, herself). But then....Moulin Rouge delivers the goods with a “You rang???? The sirens start wailing and it's business time! Don't be surprised when you generate a little extra attention when wearing this. Men will be unable to stop staring and this will confuse them a bit because they won't even notice your boobs as they will be so mezmerized by your luscious red lips. # 36 Satin Fuschia is another daredevil lipstick that has this same effect. Maybe they should call this stuff, “Boobylips”. MUFE # 43 is the red I looked for but did not find at MAC, it's also just a teeny bit less vibrant than Diorific Roulette Red, which remains my heavyweight champ red lippy. This stuff is messy though and gets all over the place and reminds me of why I did not wear reds for a very long time. So I will definitely have to adopt the lip primer routine and start using liner. It does not seem to dry my lips out and I also know this to be true from wearing the Satin Fuschia #36 that I adore and wear all the time. I would repurchase this, only if I could not get a hold of the Diorific but would most certainly again, purchase other lipsticks from the Rouge Artist Intense line, it's stunningly gorgeous! I'm quite pale and am cool toned with blonde hair dyed dark auburn and this is a dynamic wearable red for me. I don't find it as blue as the Ruby Woo and Russian but it just has a perfect temperature and it doesn't throw off any orange. Shows your white teeth off too and doesn't make them appear yellowish in contrast like some red lipsticks will. I love Ruby Woo and Russian Red and it's not that I like them less all around but they are just different kinds of reds. A Sephora rep recently told me that the Rouge Artist Intense lipsticks are so pigmented that if they had any more pigment , they would crumble. I believe it, it doesn’t take much and a little goes a long way with this stuff. It even stays on after eating and drinking but I can guarantee, it got on everything you ate and drank ( non alcoholic drink is implied, who knows what would become of a sauced up broad wearing this? shudders) I would definitely recommend some kind of sealer to keep this off anyone you hug. Aunt Shelia will not appreciate pigment packed lipstick on her Chloe sweater. Do not kiss your date unless you have thoroughly sealed this lipstick and please please do not attempt to eat a burrito either. You’ll have lipstick all over your face and whatever happened with Baby Jane won’t matter because you will be the one looking like one serious nut job. Seriously, seal it or opt for the Diorific. I encourage everyone to try a brave new lipstick. This is an, albeit, pricey lipstick but you can find mini tubes inexpensively on Ebay and also on MUA, most likely it's the #36 that went out in a November Sephora sample promo. Most tossed it aside (I did too at first!) and thought, "no way would I wear this bright pink grandma lippy", but a few days later, I had just finished brushing my teeth and the little rectangular tube ( is it still considered a tube if rectangular?) on the vanity, caught my attention. Now I had only intended to, as a goofball, try this crazy lipstick on with some feather earrings, massive sunglases and go sashay around until my husband looked up alarmingly from the newspaper, raised an eyebrow and shook his head( occurs quite frequently because I do things like; make a cat food candy necklace for the cat or don an ornate Peeps headress or consider peeing in my vegetable garden ). So, I applied a good coat of the crazy pink granny lipstick and, unexpectedly ,ended up LOVING #36 very very much and it was my first daredevil lipstick and #43 Moulin Rouge is my second and I anticipate trying more of them. http://img.makeupalley.com/1/2/1/7/1868770.JPG

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Double-Ended Winged Brush
kimbuyah 1/26/2011 4:32:00 PM
Yes, I would totally buy this again, but sadly, I think it's discontinued. Should I be surprised? No, of course not, I'm used to that. I got this on sale and adore it!!! I use it with a number of eye products. Today, I used it with Fluidline and it totally put to shame the crappy little Mac liner brush that came with the Tartan kit that included the Fluidline and crappy brush. I mostly use the bigger end but for more liquid lines, I use the smaller end. The yellow end does a fantastic job of lining, creasing and smudging even without a steady hand. It just works beautifully and I hope to see it again at Sephora because I need a back up!

Conditioner -Frederic Fekkai - Protein Rx Reparative Conditioner

Oh my my my, is this yummy!!!! Plenty of this brand is up for swaps but who wants to swap with a sweet and generous newbie like me? Survey says....freakin' no one. So, hey, who cares, I got Sephora to swap with me. I gave them cash and they gave me this unbelievably fantastic conditioner and they also included some pretty righteous extras too. Wow, smells amazing! I've been looking for a good detangling conditioner for my curly , frizzy hair and this is incredible and did I mention how amazing it smells? Even if you use it the day before yesterday, your hair will still smell fantastic and you'll get little whiffs of the sweetest fragrance and then you'll go ," oh yeah, it's my hair". Even if it made my hair nappy, I think I'd still get this as it's the best smelling hair product ever and I was a shampoo girl and hairdresser for years so I've smelled tons of conditioners. Insanely wonderful product. It makes my hair shiny and silky . I even used it as lotion today. Now I know they make one.

Eyes -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Cream - #3 Silver
kimbuyah 1/26/2011 2:47:00 PM
OOOOh, pretty! Kind of has a cool silky feel and one little swipe grabs plenty of product. I think I will have this a while. I think it looks great alone, as a base and I've even used it to go over a blah eyeshadow job and it transformed into a hot mama look. Have to dab on and a little goes a long way. Totally buildable and stays on all day but I've only used it over primer since primer is now a must have, everybody's doing it. I've pretty much been wearing this all the time since I got it weeks ago. Really kicks up UD Naked and Too Faced Naked shadows. Love it!

Love this, not my perfect red but it's a top fiver, for sure! Stays on pretty good too. Must use a liner though because it initially will wriggle about but is a dead sexy gorgeous red.

Skincare - Body -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Body Butter
kimbuyah 1/22/2011 2:01:00 AM
Unable to get a swap so finally purchased this. It does not have the great Amazing Grace scent as the 3 in 1 and Emulsion and hardly smells of anything more than unscented lotion. Pretty moisturizing but unscented shouldn't cost $28 for 5 oz. Good thing I didn't get it in a swap. Now I'll need the oil to stink this up a bit. Disappointment only gives it 2 lippies. Philosophy is lotion better stink perty for $28!

Eye Shadow -Pure Luxe Cosmetics - Pure Luxe Kaleidoscope Collection Faceted
kimbuyah 1/20/2011 12:21:00 AM
This is my most favorite eyeshadow in the world! So far. I have met quite a few shadows in my time but this one amazes me. It's sort of a steely grayish purply blue color but then it's a firey red copper. It remind me of opals. It looks spectacular with blue eyes and I love to mix it with clear polish for a cool holo look. I tried the sample and went back for the full size. I'd recommend anyone to try the sample as it's really a fantastic and unique color. http://img.makeupalley.com/1/2/1/7/1860254.JPG I was told by the company that Kaleidescopes are best over dark colors. I put several black liquid eyeliner polka dots on the back of my hand and applied Kaleidescopes over them and results were amazing! I saw a review somewhere where a girl applied black eyeliner on her entire lower lid (sounded freaky goth looking and frightening to me!) and applied a similar shadow on top with brilliant results. I now believe it because the black won't be black once the micas are over them and instead, you get a stunning metallic shade that's uniquely opulent. Try it on a swatch test, it's fantastic!
