Concealers -Rimmel - Match Perfection Concealer
kimberleylyra 1/11/2012 7:26:00 AM
It's a pretty good under eye concealer. It blends in really nicely and does brighten up the eye a bit (emphasis on the bit). Sometimes it does fall into the faint lines under your eyes but that can be easily fixed by running your finger under your eye. To be honest, there are better under eye concealers out there but for the price it's pretty darn good. I wouldn't repurchase but I will continue to use it daily until I run out. :)

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
kimberleylyra 12/31/2011 2:33:00 AM
My first liquid eyeliner and my last! This is absolutely perfect in every way. It is so effortless (after practice, of course!) to throw on in the morning and isn't fiddly at all. I've had mine for 8 months and it's still going strong. I continue to embrace the blackest of all black line every morning. It stays on all day without primer. This is honestly the best eyeliner I will ever use. I cannot fault it anywhere... It is absolutely amazing!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Designer Chocolates Quad
kimberleylyra 12/31/2011 2:29:00 AM
It's an ok eyeshadow palette for an everyday look. This palette would be ideal if you're not bothered much with makeup and want something easily affordable and mindless to apply in the morning. The eyeshadows are sheer but still give out an okay payout which makes it impossible to mess up. If you're starting out with makeup I would recommend this but for someone who has many eye shadow palettes then it's something you could go without. I expected the pink colour in the palette to be the main feature but it does come out a tad chalky. It was a little hard to blend out unfortunately. Conclusion is that it's a palette you could go without and I'd honestly recommend spending your money elsewhere.. unless you can get it on a pretty good deal.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
kimberleylyra 6/12/2011 7:46:00 AM
I did have high expectations for this mascara after all the raving on about it on youtube. Initially I didn't like it. I didn't understand what was the huge hype about it. It made my lashes stick together and looked like I had 3 really thick lashes. Not cute and certainly unimpressed. But I didn't give up. I was determined to make this work. I didn't want to waste my money on this so it had to work. After about few days I was beginning to lose hope but I tried something different - I flipped the wand around. As this wand is curved I was using it the wrong way! I felt so stupid as this amazing mascara gave me incredible length and volume just from flipping the brush! I was so impressed by this mascara! PROS: - volume and length - somewhat cheap - brush CONS: - gets clumpy - if applying too much it makes lashes stick together I wouldn't repurchase this mascara because I do like to switch things up a bit. I've never repurchased the same mascara before but if I ever did it would be this or the Covergirl LashBlast :)

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
kimberleylyra 6/12/2011 7:32:00 AM
This is an amazing concealer. I've had it for about 4 months and there's about half left. Unfortunately I have to look for a lighter concealer because it's Winter in Australia and I don't want to purchase this concealer in a lighter colour because it is quite pricey at $32 a vial. Anyways, this concealer is definitely suitable for dry skin. It is a liquid consistency and doesn't seem to cake on dry skin which is amazing especially in the Winter. And for those who are lucky to have the Summer climate - let me tell you... THIS CONCEALER IS AMAZING FOR STAYING POWER! In the summer I like to have a tinted moisturizer and a concealer that will stay put.. and this is definitely a HG concealer for the summer... well for me, in general! :D For coverage - this is definitely a full coverage concealer. But unfortunately SOMETIMES I do tend to get a blemish that can't be covered completely by this concealer. But honestly I don't think any concealer could cover them up anyways. And my last favourite thing about this concealer - I can triple this up as a blemish and under eye concealer AND eye primer. Personally my eyeshadow stays all day when I use this (because I run my under eye concealer up onto my lid) even with those cheap $4 eyeshadows! :D SO IMPRESSED MAC! So the ONE thing I dislike about this product is the packaging. It does look very classy in the glass vial. It could definitely fit in a typical make up bag. But the distribution of the actual concealer itself is terrible. The pump is very hard to control how much you want to take out. It's taken me a while to get used to and know how much pressure to put on the pump to get the right amount but it has probably gotten easier because the amount in the vial has lowered. With that said the inside of the cap and the pump gets very messy as some of the excess product stays on the pump hole after you've used it. It's a pain because it gets wasted. :( I am forgiving for a product's packaging though. I love this product SO much that I would never actually take the terrible packaging for account. This is everything I want in a concealer and I'm so glad I've found it. NEVER DISCONTINUE THIS MAC!!!

Primer/ Corrector -Inglot - Under Makeup Base
kimberleylyra 7/30/2010 4:45:00 AM
I LOVE THIS PRIMER! It does keep my skin matte throughout the day, it is easy to control how much you use from the way it's packaged, it makes your skin SO smooth and it keeps my makeup on ALL DAY!! YAY! Pros: Keeps face matte all day Makes skin look and feel smooth for easier make up application Shrinks pores Easy to control how much you want to use Only need a little bit Keeps your make up on your face all day! Cons: Takes about 2-3 minutes to dry so you can apply your make up (if you don't wait that long you look a little shiny but not shiny oily, more like pretty dewy.. but make up doesn't stay on the skin for as long though) I love this primer and I will DEFINITELY repurchase this! I will probably use this til I'm much older! THANK YOU INGLOT FOR AN AMAZING PRODUCT!

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Sumptuous
kimberleylyra 7/10/2010 5:18:00 AM
I just have a small version of this mascara.. been through two of them! I love this mascara so so much. It lengthens, gives a little bit of volume (not too dramatic but enough for everyday wear), lifts the eyelashes and separates! I wear this mascara to school as it's not too dramatic. It don't need to brush out my lashes after using this because there are no clumps at all. Perfect for on the go. I would definitely purchase a full-sized version but it's extremely expensive where I live. But I will be on the look out for those gifts which most of the time, have this mascara. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rock Star
kimberleylyra 7/10/2010 5:14:00 AM
This is the first lush soap I've ever purchased. This soap smells like the color of pink! Really! It smells sweet. :) It lathers nicely on a shower puff. It leaves a heavenly smell in the shower and I love how the smell stays on the skin for about.. 2-3 hours. It's very subtle though. It smells like musk! This is quite expensive but I cut the block into slices and keep one slice in the shower and the rest back in my room. I've had one small slice for more than a week in the shower and it still hasn't run out! Very impressed! Next purchase is 'Honey I Washed The Kids' and maybe a mask. Can't wait!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Unstoppable Eyeliner
kimberleylyra 7/10/2010 5:00:00 AM
I have this eyeliner in espresso. When I first swatched it after I purchased it, I was very impressed with the pigmentation. But the first time I tried to, the top broke off so I had to keep swatching so it went back to that pin-top shape. For me, this doesn't smudge (I apply on the outer lash line and finish half way between my lashes) I was surprised by the low rating of this eyeliner. It does smudge if you don't let this set for a minute or so. After that it's pretty hard to get off. I had the swatches on my hand for about 2 days! It does last the whole day which is something very important to me. I could wear this out and be confident that I don't have crazy raccoon-eyes. Overall, I am actually really happy with this eyeliner. I would consider repurchasing it if I were low on cash and needed an eyeliner urgently but I don't wear eyeliner everyday anyway. I think this is a great eyeliner but I wouldn't recommend swimming in this. It's waterproof.. to an extent.

Lip Gloss -Inglot - Sleeks VLC
kimberleylyra 7/9/2010 10:50:00 PM
I bought this lipgloss in 75 - a really barbie pink. It was on sale for about 75% off this line of glosses, so it was really cheap. I was super excited to try this out but the lipgloss is WAYYY to light for me if I were to apply it just with the built-in applicator. So I have to sheer it out. I put three dots on my lips and apply using a lip brush. It is pigmented but I wouldn't say it's opaque. I really like the shimmer in this gloss aswell. It makes the lips look shiny even after it dries to just the semi-matte colour. The wear of this lipgloss is pretty good - I'd say it would last all day if you weren't to touch them at all (Drink, eat, touch lips etc.) but if you were to drink and eat with this gloss on it will start to wear off after about 4-5 hours. This lipgloss tends to fall into the mini cracks of lips. Nobody's lips are perfectly smooth so this can be a problem with some people. My friend tried this and she has very nice lips (sounds weird saying this haha) and it fell into the tiny cracks in her lips that I would have never seen if she hadn't put on the gloss. I would recommend this product, maybe in a clear colour instead.

Eye Shadow -Elizabeth Arden - Eyeshadow
kimberleylyra 6/30/2010 7:33:00 AM
I have a eyeshadow duo and they're both gorgeous colours but I wish I could say the same about the pigmentation. It's not great colour pay off, you have to use alot to get the right pay off on your lid. The eyeshadow is buildable so you can have a softer colour look instead of intense colour. These eyeshadows are perfect for everyday wear and something I would actually expect from the drugstore. I gave these eyeshadows a 3 because I really love the packaging of my shadows. It has a mirror and it's very sheek. Perfect for grabbing when in a rush. Also I love the colours. Perfect for everyone. And lastly I personally like how they're buildable. As a high school student at an anti-make up school, I can build how intense I want my crease colour to be. More noticeable, subtle, intense (but I'd have to use alot).. it's great. I took off two because it's hard to build up to a more intense colour and it blends a little too easily at times.

Tinted Moisturizer -Dove - Essential nutrients protective tinted moisturizer SPF15
kimberleylyra 6/25/2010 10:22:00 PM
This is the only tinted moisturiser I've used but I am super impressed! This is best applied with a good foundation brush as I didn't like the finished look when applied with the fingers or a sponge. It does make me shiny with natural lighting (outside) after 2 hours but not greasy gross-oily. It looks nice indoors though. I'm loving the consistency and texture. It's runnier and thinner than a normal moisturiser. It feels like it's got a bit of water in the product. I am trying to find a good tinted moisturiser or mineral powder for school during the week as I'm extremely concerned of premature aging and I'm definitely loving this! I will definitely keep this in my close collection while I'm on my hunt!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
kimberleylyra 6/25/2010 5:57:00 AM
At first, I was very hesitant to purchase this foundation after all the review I'd read on this website. But I thought, everybody's different and some people are VERY fussy. Me? I'm not too fussy. I always find a product useful even if it doesn't do the job so I gave this foundation a shot. I was going to purchase Dior's 'Nude' foundation but at the price, I could already feel the guilt and pain of purchasing something so expensive just thinking about walking up to the counter! So instead, I purchased Revlon's Photoready. Totally guilt free when I purchased this. So, as soon as I got home I tried it out. At this time, I had lost my foundation brush so all I had was a sponge and of course my fingers. I tried applying this foundation with a sponge. TERRIBLE. I didn't like it. I washed it off and tried my fingers... better.. I tried to smooth it out with a sponge.. it was ok. This foundation claims to make your skin 'poreless'. But when I applied this foundation with my fingers/sponge, it made my nose pores, which I am EXTREMELY conscious about, so SO noticeable and HUGE! I wanted to wash the foundation off as soon as I looked in the mirror after wearing it for 3 hours. But I kept it on.. for some reason. The foundation lasted the whole day. I used a primer underneath and powder for extra staying power. So while I was without a foundation brush, I had to use 2 foundations. One, the colourstay for my nose and the photoready for everywhere else. Even then I wasn't fond of the foundation. BUT when I went out and bought another foundation brush and tried applying it with this, the results were SO SO SO much different. Wow. It does make my skin flawless and my pores don't stick out as much when applied without a brush. This foundation is buildable but your foundation does get darker if you layer it. For example, I have scarring on my chin and need extra coverage so I tried to build it up. I looked up in a bigger mirror and I looked like a man. The area from my mouth down was daaark! So I had to go out and buy a colour corrector which is another $21.. : But still, this foundation is great. I love the dewy look it gives. The foundation does have shimmer, not glitter. It's very suble and you can't notice it if your standing a metre away. If you're closer, you do notice it but it gives a dewy and fresh awake look. As I said before, it lasts all day (which is one of my major aspects when purchasing a foundation) and it's my perfect colour aswell.

Makeup Brushes -Inglot - Brushes
kimberleylyra 6/25/2010 5:42:00 AM
I have the foundation brush (21T) and WOW! I admit, I've never used a MAC brush in my life but I cannot imagine a foundation brush to apply a more flawless and amazing coverage than this brush. The brush was $25, not cheap, but not expensive. If I had used this without knowing the brand, I would have thought it would have been a professional make up artist brush (MAC, Make Up For Ever). The brush is definitely high-end quality. The brush is great for applying primer as well. As the brush is synthetic, the product doesn't sink into the brush like natural-haired brushes would. It applies smoothly and flawlessly. The brush is so so soft! The looks of the packaging and brush is really sleek. It really looks professional and 'expensive'. I've heard that Inglot has very similar prices over in the US but in AUS, they're about $40 cheaper than a MAC brush. I definitely recommend these brushes and I can't wait for my next trip back to Inglot!

Liquid -Cover Girl - TruBlend
kimberleylyra 5/21/2010 3:19:00 AM
I don't even know what to say. This is definitely the worst foundation I've ever used. Doesn't stay for more than a few hours, it can tend to make you look a little orange, it makes you look DULL as heck.. it's just a horrible foundation and I'll never use it again. Went straight into the bin. Horrible.
