Cleansers -Shiseido - The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

I strongly prefer the white Lucent version! This ones extra gentle but I felt like it was TOO gentle. For something similar and better try shiseido elixir superieur!

Cleansers -Shiseido - Elixir Cleansing Foam

Many reviews say this is expensive - I've had my friends purchase this for me from Japan, and I've paid USD40 - 50. USD40: She purchased it from a drugstore. USD50 - from Takashimaya, a Department store not unlike Nordstrom/Neiman Marcus. Recently, a Japanese friend visited and he brought the emulsion, the cleanser and toner for me. When I tried to press USD120 into his hands, his reaction was large, as if I'd just insulted him - apparently he thought I was trying to pay him for the buying. Upon further prodding, I realized that he'd only paid about USD20 per bottle(!), because the drugstore was having a discount! Lesson learnt.. I will be planning my trip to Japan to coincide with when my goodies run out :) As for the cleanser itself - I find that it doesn't clean as deeply as the Shiseido White Lucent line! It leaves some sort of residue.. I always use some of the facial cleanser to wash my glasses as well (oops, please don't judge), and while the Shiseido White Lucent leaves my glasses really clean, this one leaves residue! I'll have to keep experimenting....

As one of the world's favourite scents, I've had many encounters with this perfume - of course I have. It was one of the first to use aldehydes - a game changer. And it was supposed to smell clean, and yet have a touch of sexiness, thus rendering it able to bridge the gap between overly flowery perfumes, and the kinky ones used by those of the "demi-mondaine". When I tried a spray of it my boyfriend told me (after I tried convincing him that it smelled awesome) that I smelled like a soapy papertowel - you know the kinds you get at cheap chinese restaurants? And I agree - I smelled like cheap soap even after a long time. After getting a second opinion to confirm that the perfume did NOT smell good, I've decided to not purchase it.

The knit packaging of the product is what makes it special, and is also what makes it impossible to stand on the makeup bar - but then again, maybe it's because my item was sample-sized. This perfume smells like coitus, and my bf agrees. In fact, it smells too flowery and slightly..dirty. I wear it only at night, and have difficulty washing it out.

I used to love this scent when I was 18 - maybe it was the marketing. 6 years on, I find it slightly too synthetic in smell, too soapy, and just not sophisticated enough and without enough character. It doesn't do anything wrong, but it doesn't do anything right. Won't be repurchasing :p

Cleansers -Sukí - Suki Naturals Lemongrass Cleanser

Got this off Amazon after seeing at half price relative to Bath&Unwind! After reading many reviews, I've derived that this label is focused on using highly concentrated botanical extracts to achieve what it wants. Follow the directions on the bottle and achieve skincare nirvana. The other reviewers are correct - a little goes a long way. Take a small amount and rub between your palms so you get a bubbly effect, and scrub your face with it. I tried it, and my face feels squeaky clean and dewy after, but not dried out. I love this product! I'm in Singapore - if you are too, then you'll notice that the TANGS e-store sells it for SGD60 as well :) You may wish to opt for this if you have nothing else to buy online. Else, I highly recommend that you ship it in from Amazon, together with your other U.S. shopping!

Sunscreen -Clarins - UV PLUS Protective Day Screen SPF 40

This product comes in 3 shades - beige, pink and white (colourless). I've read many of the reviews, and the opinions really vary. This is because the coloured ones have a different consistency from the white one, but you won't really feel this if you're using a sample (I received samples and used them in pink and colouress) I'll review both: White (Colourless): This one's light, makes your skin velvety, and is worth every penny. I got this in a small bottle at first. The kind you get over the counter. No problems at all. I've repurchased the smaller bottles :) Pink: Like all humans, I am greedy. I wanted a fresh tint to my complexion, and bought the LARGE one in a pink! What a horrid idea. The consistency was abit steely and powdery, but still wet. It felt slightly wrong to be using it, but it's so expensive, I'm just going to have to keep using it. Packaging: I've rated the packaging as 1 because the screwcap isnt tight enough. Brought this with me on a 6 hour flight and it was SUCH. A. NIGHTMARE. 3 hours into it, I found that my expensive sunscreen had leaked ALL OVER my makeup (wetting my powder blush). On the return flight, I scotchtaped the bottle, but that didn't help. Clarins needs to review this. The smaller bottle doesn't have this problem.

Cleansers -Shiseido - White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam

Switched to this because I was in NYC, and they didn't have Witch, which I used to use. This is good, and despite the nett price, a little blob goes a long way and is sufficient for cleansing. I used to go through a bottle of Witch (SGD13/USD10 each) every 2.5-3 months. 1 year = SGD13 x 5 = SGD65 With Shiseido, SGD52-60 can last me an entire year. Somehow it works out to less than a drugstore brand :) I'm sold! Also, I've become fairer :) From NC20- NC15.

Moisturizers -Shiseido - White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion

I work in a pretty dry office, my skin gets quite tight from the air. Thus after letting myself be convinced by the sales consultant, I decided to splurge on this product, combined with Anessa sunblock. Unfortunately, this product only made my skin feel even tighter! A quick chat with a colleague had her commenting that Shiseido products often come with an overpowering alcohol scent (hinting at its high alcohol content), and that alcohol essentially dries out your skin. Not sure how many months of youth I've lost because of my use of this product. I guess this works if you use this on your oilier bits/ have oily skin. My oilier friends think Shiseido's a godsend. Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - The Daily Smooth body butter
kikulicious 8/21/2012 11:54:00 AM
Good body butter! I noticed my hands getting smoother after I started using. Its size makes it a really good stocking stuffer :) Too bad it smells REALLY STRONG and cloying. It says here that there's Coconut Oil, Cocoa Seed Oil, Rose Seed Oil. Very moisturizing, but WAY too much smell! Gift only to people who like smells.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil

Move over LipIce/Neutrogena/Kiehl's/Body Shop. Here's a product that doesn't have that icky synthetic fragrance/come off as too sticky. It's also moisturizing, and doesn't cake. Definitely a thumbs up + will repurchase!

This is great! It might feel abit sticky and dubious, and leave a strange sleek/sticky veil on your skin after (I skip night cream on nights that I use this), but it leaves your skin very smooth the day after! Thumbs up for being organic as well :)

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers

This was great! Have this in Fig, and it looks deep, but it's a really rich red. Also, unlike others I've tried (i.e., Kiehl's/Lip Ice), these dont leave your lips feeling....flakey. Instead, they keep you looking moisturized :) I like to use these as a buffer between my gloss/lip colour. If i'm using pink, I simply use my pomegranate flavoured one

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes

Would probably repurchase, but only if I can't find anything better. As promised, the sheer texture of this product won't smother/suffocate your skin, but don't hope for instant coverage either! Layering works wonders with this. Because it's so affordable, I use this as an all-round concealer. Tap on a layer, let it set (do other things) then add on another layer. However, I'm going to have to down my rating because it's a subpar undereye concealer DESPITE being marketed as one. The product flakes after a few hours of wear at my inner-undereye area. To combat this, I use the 10x more expensive MUFE HD concealer on the inner part, followed by this product on the outside. Shake before use to avoid being greeted with a watery substance from the tube. So far, this is better than Clarins (which I used to use) Oriental Asian; NC15

It was smelled like something really foul, and it also had this strange, yellowish cast to it. PLUS it made my skin burn before making my eyes water! I've fair Asian skin.
