Powder -100 Percent Pure - HEALTHY FLAWLESS SKIN FOUNDATION POWDER SPF 20
rated 3 of 5

Overall, I really like this product. I have oily, acne-prone skin. It controls oil decently, doesn't look cakey, and the color Toffee matches my tan skin pretty well. I also have not broken out because of this product. I don't need heavy coverage, so I can't speak toward this point, but I do find the light to medium coverage leaves my skin with a smooth, even, matte finish. However, I do notice that this powder tends to oxidize in the sun (it seems to only affect me when I'm outside for an extended period of time), leaving me with a blotchy, orange hue. It doesn't happen all the time, so I will continue to use this product until I find another natural powder foundation that doesn't react this way. Even though I have oily skin, I prefer to use 100% Pure's liquid foundation because it doesn't seem to oxidize.

Liquid -100 Percent Pure - HEALTHY SKIN FOUNDATION WITH SUPER FRUITS SPF 20 (full coverage / satin finish)
rated 5 of 5

I have oily, acne-prone skin and this is the first foundation to keep my skin looking matte for an extended period of time. Granted, after 5 or 6 hours I start seeing a little shine, but overall, I'm very pleased with this product. It isn't cakey and the color Toffee works well with my tan skin. It is a medium to full-coverage foundation. Recently, I've been using this product to create my own natural tinted moisturizer or BB cream, for lighter coverage. (The tinted moisturizer from 100% Pure is too greasy for my skin). I mix a little bit of this foundation with a natural sunscreen and a natural oil-based serum (for moisture), and it works well for my everyday look. This foundation does not break me out, and I will definitely be repurchasing it when I run out. I've recommended this product to my mom (in her mid 50's with oily skin), and she can't live without it either. Their powder foundation works really nicely too.

Concealers -100 Percent Pure - Peach Pigmented Natural Concealer with SPF 20
rated 2 of 5

I have oily skin, and this product does not last on my skin. I also have the darkest shade available, Toffee, and for my tan skin, this color is too light to hide my hyper-pigmentation and acne scars. However, the shade kind of works for under eye circles, but again, it doesn't last for longer than an hour and it doesn't really cover blemishes.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
khickengurl 10/4/2012 3:25:00 PM

I love this mascara. My old favorite mascaras include Cover Girl Las Blast, L'Oreal Voluminous, and L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen (all waterproof versions) - however, this one is even better. This mascara isn't clumpy, can be built up with a few coats, and doesn't flake. My lashes look full and voluminous, and best of all it holds my curl **all day** after curling. However, my eyelids and skin are oily, so I do experience a little bit of smudging on my upper and lower lids at the end of the day (I only apply mascara to my top lashes). I still give this mascara 5 stars because I've gone swimming while wearing this mascara and did not experience raccoon eyes. I've already repurchased this mascara 3 times (and will probably continue to repurchase), but I'll still be on the lookout for a drugstore mascara that does not smudge, is volumizing, AND holds my curl all day.

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Naturally Ageless Serum
rated 4 of 5

Overall, I love this serum. I've been using it for 2 years now. PROS: - THIS HAS DEFINITELY MADE MY EYELASHES LONGER. I'm Asian but because of this product, I definitely don't have "asian lashes." They are long and noticeable, especially after I curl my lashes and apply mascara. Before using this product, I didn't think twice about my eyelashes (they weren't frustratingly short, they weren't particularly long), but now I'm obsessed about them and love to wear mascara to show them off. I use my finger to dab a very tiny amount of this serum along my eyelid/eyelashes at night, which also helps to remove any mascara residue my makeup remover has missed. - I was hesitant to use an oil serum on my oily, acne-prone skin, but it absorbs fairly quickly and doesn't leave my face feeling greasy. Very moisturizing. - Although the bottle seems really small, a little goes a long way. 2-3 drops is enough to moisturize my face and neck if I dampen my face or hands with water beforehand. This helps to spread the product around easily and evenly. I usually purchase it at CVS with a 25% off coupon or when they have an ExtraBucks deal so that I don't have to pay full price. CONS: - The fragrance is a little strong for my preference, but it's not unpleasant. - The eye dropper bottle is not good for traveling. If left on its side, the oil seeps out of the white, squishy part of the dropper and leaves a crusty residue.

Polishes -China Glaze - Thataway
rated 1 of 5
khickengurl 10/4/2012 1:08:00 AM

Although I usually like bright, summery nail polishes, this color reminds me of Halloween. Against my tan skin it seems like a true orange, and I was hoping for a more coral-orange. It applies fine - nothing exceptional, but it requires at least two coats. However, my rating is based upon the fact that it chipped in less than 24 hours! Its just as bad as the five or six Maybelline Express Finish nail polishes I've tried. I used a Seche Vite base coat and Nails Inc top coat. This nail polish would probably fare well as a pedicure.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish
rated 1 of 5
khickengurl 8/9/2010 11:43:00 PM

This is the first time I've used this nail polish, and I tried it in the color "Peachy Keen." I have to say, awful awful awful. I loved the wide brush, but that's about it. It was extremely streaky even after 3 coats. The color would be great for a french manicure or a simple polished look, but I definitely don't think it's worth my time to apply 4+ coats (if 4 coats even does the trick; I gave up after 3 coats). Maybe other colors have a better formula, but I haven't tried them. However, after this experience, I wouldn't want to try any other colors from this line.

Sunscreen -Cetaphil - UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50
rated 2 of 5
khickengurl 8/2/2010 12:03:00 AM

I'm constantly looking for a daily facial moisturizer with SPF, but this one just doesn't work for me. Keep in mind, I do have oily skin that is sometimes breaks out. I'm not very self-conscious about my oily skin, but I absolutely hate how oily this moisturizer makes my skin look! Within 5-10 minutes after applying this product, even after applying a face powder, my face is completely drenched in oil. I feel like my skin doesn't even naturally get that oily. However, the SPF works great, and I haven't gotten a sunburn after going to the beach. I do like the packaging, and wish more products used such a convenient and controllable pump. I feel comfortable wearing this moisturizer if I'm going to the beach or exercising outside, but I will not repurchase this again once I run out.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
rated 5 of 5
khickengurl 7/24/2010 3:23:00 PM

This is my favorite chapstick so far. I've been repurchasing for a few years now. I love how it glides on, the hint of natural color it leaves on your lips, and how moisturizing it feels. It doesn't feel waxy like the regular Burt's Bees Lip Balm. I love this product!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush
rated 5 of 5
khickengurl 7/24/2010 3:19:00 PM

I absolutely love this brush! It applies my powder beautifully, and the brushes are incredibly soft and fluffy. I was immediately sold by how soft the bristles are. I would never think of even trying any other brand of brush. The bristles haven't been shedding (I've had the brush for at least 6 months now), and I have washed them numerous times already. Keep in mind this is the first and only brand of brushes that I've tried. Nonetheless, great job, Ecotools!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 5 of 5
khickengurl 7/24/2010 3:14:00 PM

I initially didn't like the idea of wearing liquid foundation (I just think thick, cakey, and something that won't ever quite match your skin), but I absolutely love this product! Mind you, this is the first time I regularly decided to wear foundation. It matches my skin tone perfectly and blends well. I wear it every day but only use it on certain areas of my skin. If you don't want to cover your face with foundation, for a more natural look, I suggest dabbing little on dark or reddish areas of your skin and blending out. I top it off with a powder, and I feel confident about my skin all day! Even though the bottle doesn't have a pump, I manage by shaking the bottle and only using the excess that gets stuck under the cap. It minimizes the waste, it doesn't get messy, and it feels relatively sanitary.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
khickengurl 7/24/2010 2:55:00 PM

The formula is a little too waxy for me, which makes the application not as smooth. I'm not a huge fan of the mint, but my boyfriend loves this lip balm. I think this is one of those products that you just have to try out for yourself and see if you like it.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
khickengurl 7/24/2010 2:47:00 PM

I have the midnight blue and teal colors, and I love the vibrancy of these colors! The consistency is creamy and glides on easily (with another brush). It does smudge a little by the end of the day on my oily eyelids, but I haven't tried to put a matching eyeshadow on top yet. I currently also own Maybelline's gel eyeliner in eggplant, and I think both are comparable. However, I definitely like Maybelline's brush and the shape of their pot more than L'oreal's. To do list: compare L'oreal's eggplant gel eyeliner with Maybelline's eggplant gel eyeliner and see if one outperforms the other...

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5
khickengurl 4/9/2010 8:28:00 PM

I like this moisturizer because it doesn't have fragrance and doesn't leave my skin feeling oily. It is lightweight and it gets the job done. It doesn't make my skin breakout. However, I feel as though I can find cheaper drugstore moisturizers that are just as effective. I've never bought a full-sized product for myself because I'm always given the small sample sizes. I would use this moisturizer at night or under makeup, but I would prefer to use something with SPF during the day. As good as this product is, I would prefer to spend my money on a moisturizer with a low hazard rating (4 out of 10, moderate hazard), although this product is not that bad.
