Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Mania pour femme

Not as great at the samples in magazines. But it is very indulgent and I do like it. However I warn you against buying the lotion. The spray and shower gel, fine, but the lotion is awful! It doesn't smell like the actual perfume at all and is downright hideous.

Foundations -Yves Saint Laurent - Matt Touch Foundation
rated 5 of 5

W-O-W. This is the perfect foundation. It is so silky smooth, much like the oil free ysl primer that comes in a similar tube. I usually don't test out foundation samples, but this my friends was an amazing find. I currently have Matt Lumiere from Chanel and settled with it-- it is rather visible and blotchy. I cannot believe how amazing this ysl one is. NO blotchyness, NO visibility and simply smooth as a dream! Definitely something for getting up close and personal. The sample shade was 4 and I think this is a perfect match. This is #1 on my wish list! Edit: I have to wonder, and I want to know what other reviewers think- do you think you waste a lot of this when applying with your hand?

Accessories -Yves Saint Laurent - Lip Makeup Palette

So, I bought this knowing I thought the outside was hideous, and close up, it is. But I wouldn't mind wearing it around my neck. The red lippie inside is wonderful! Red lipstick isn't for everyone and finding your right shade is hard- and this is mine! The other color is amazing too. My mom got unusally excited about my lip color when I was wearing the 2nd one. I hope the two colors within this heart are real YSL colors I can buy from the counter.

Accessories -Unlisted Brand - Missoni Missoni Solid Perfume Charm Necklace
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 7/13/2008 11:59:00 AM

This is one of my favorite necklaces. It works great with summer dresses and is fun and chic. If you don't like the M charm, it has a key chain mechanism so it is simple to take off (and not cut off like I read on another webside). Downsides- it's a bit heavy and the perfume solid is hard to administer.

Accessories -Christian Dior - Golden Dior Luminizing Make-up Jewel
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 7/13/2008 11:54:00 AM

This is a beyond chic little jewel that opens to reveal a golden substance that can be used on eyes, lips or cheeks. I think it's ok for cheeks, but I usually only use it on eyes. Just to let you know, I adore gold makeup, so this was a hit for me. I don't know about wearing it around the neck or hand bag, it seems a little too hard to do ( the ribbon would unfortunately get squished and the jewel is relatively heavy), so I let it sit under my mirror and show itself off. J'adore Dior!

Loose Powders -Yves Saint Laurent - Semi-loose powder in #1
rated 3 of 5
kgrinn 7/11/2008 10:49:00 AM

Just watching the powder cut but twisting is enough for me. I love the little brush they give with it. It is representative of ysl brushes and is smooth- definitely a keeper even after the powder is gone. The brush is particularly nice because the shape allows you to put the powder easily under your eyes and on the sides of your nose etc. I refrain from putting this powder on the top of my nose because I feel it looks blotchy. I have a problem with most foundations looking blotchy and being noticeable in texture on my face, but this powder (apart from on the nose for some reason) actually fares well. I think the shade may be a little too light for me, but then again usually my foundations are too dark, so this will tone them down. Edit: I just found out that my SA gave me the wrong shade. I asked for #2 (over the phone) and was given #1. I'm not sure if I'll exchange because this color isn't too pale, it might be good for winter. I will think about it. Also, I don't see any light reflecting particles and the texture could be finer.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick #340 Rose Fashion
rated 4 of 5
kgrinn 7/9/2008 9:14:00 PM

I thought I'd seen all the pinks out there. This was a wonderful surprise! To start off, the canister is very chic- much more so than I'd imagined from pictures. It has a lot of sparkles, but they're not too big and it actually ends up being very classy. It has great staying power and is very simple to put on- without all the worrying and fuss. This is a great addition to my collection! Edit: I think this may be a little too red for me, maybe too orange based or something. It doesn't work with my skin tone as wonderfully as I'd wished. But I'm still a fan.

Eyeliner -Giorgio Armani - Smooth Silk Eye Pencil
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 7/9/2008 9:08:00 PM

wow. I adore this pencil. I can make a very thin line with it and easily do a winged eye without messing up (which I always do at least once with every other brand). I have this in number 3 which is is very dark blue. Actually, I thought at first it was a low intensity black. Color is easily administered (yet isn't messy) and having a smudger is handy!

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer SPF 15 with Dermaxyl
rated 1 of 5
kgrinn 7/7/2008 8:30:00 PM

I got a sample of this from sephora and it does not work for me. It stings my face and then later makes me dry out (I have oily skin and it's 80+ here!). I will stick with my YSL Matt-Touch Oil Free.

Makeup Brushes -Bobbi Brown - Eye Contour Brush - short handle
rated 5 of 5

At first I didn't like this brush. I find it's best to use it horizontally and I love using it for applying highlighter powder. Inconceivably soft!

Makeup Brushes -Estee Lauder - Eyeshadow Brush
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 7/5/2008 11:34:00 AM

I'm a big fan of this. It's great for shadow and smoothing some highlighter. It's also good for picking up powder on the brush and administering it. It hasn't shed on me yet!

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for Lips- Tenderheart
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 7/5/2008 11:30:00 AM

An unusual formula- I'm a lipstick person and this gloss is thick without all the glitter, so it suits me well. It makes lips look great with one slick and it's also good for layering over something that you just want to tone down a bit. I like layering better because it makes the color a tiny bit more vibrant to perfection.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Good-bye Cellulite
rated 1 of 5
kgrinn 6/25/2008 7:13:00 PM

So I have only used this once- yesterday. The scent at first smelled like YSL skincare products but when I got a closer whiff I completely changed my mind and found that it smells highly medicinal. However I can hardly smell it when applying, unless I put my nose in it. A big turnoff (though irrational) is that it is blue! Which just was a surprise and initially creeped me out. But anyway, it did not seem sticky whatsoever to me even though other reviewers felt so. I applied only to my thighs since I don't have cellulite anywhere else and it went on very smoothly, though it didn't at first leave my legs feeling smooth at touch. When I went to bed which was about 5 hours after I applied my legs started itching like crazy! I don't think I'll try it again since I suppose people would recommend not to because of the itching.

Shampoo -Wella - Color Preserve, Smoothing Shampoo, Coarse Frizzy Hair
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 6/23/2008 10:12:00 AM

This is a great shampoo for my insanely thick hair. I bought this at Arrojo studio when I had my hair highlighted for the first time. The hair assistant suggested I buy this because it's from the same company as the hair dye. It definitely lives up to it's promise to preserve the color. The last time I had my hair dyed was in Jan (it's not June) and it has seamlessly lead me through the months. I've noticed something strange about this product. When my hair is very, very wet and soaked I apply this. However I only apply a very tiny bit. After trial and error I've come to notice that no matter how much I first put on or how wet or dry my hair is, it just won't start lathering up until I do a makeshift rinse and apply a second time. The second application is when I apply the amount I think is needed to cover my hair and it then lathers wonderfully. I also have the conditioner of this and my hair comes out in soft beautiful curls after air-drying without any other products! Although an important notice just for people with thick hair (an when I only realized once I was in college) is that I can only brush my hair once after I'm out of the shower, during which I part and bobby pin the part.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Convertible eye color in Forest
rated 5 of 5
kgrinn 6/21/2008 4:27:00 PM

I also bought this at Marshall's for $4.99. The stick comes with a very dark green (that looks dark brown or black) twist up eyeliner, a smudger on the other end and in the middle, a creamy beige shadow. Most of my eye shadows are rather sheer so it was great to try this and I have to say I was pretty amazed! The eyeliner works surprisingly well and is easy to apply. However I consider the colors of this forest product to be very basic and neutral, so for the full price of $18 I would buy something a little more unique. I'm glad that I bought this, mostly because I didn't realize there were such great creamy shadows as opposed to sheer. I will definitely look for another one of these in different shades and I will be looking into other Stila shadows!
