Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation
kgloverii 6/11/2013 12:49:00 PM
Eh. This is just a so so product for me. I have combination skin and by the end of the day, my face is pretty slick (and not in a good way). I was really hoping this would be good as a lightweight foundation for the summer, but I have to constantly set it with powder and reset, again and again. And that just defeats the purpose of it for me. I'm someone who likes to "set it and forget it" especially in the summer. This product just doesn't let me do that.

My daughters and I have thick hair that likes to frizz up and poof out. A little bit of this smoothed all over, and our hair is sleek and smooth. HG product.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe
kgloverii 3/26/2013 11:57:00 AM
I'm super pale, and I'll be honest, this color, alone, on my eye, looks like someone punched me. A big bruised eye. BUT, I don't use it for the color, I use it as a base. I can load up any color on top of it (I love it under a shimmery pale pink), and my eyeshadow LASTS ALL DAY. It has lasted through swimming!! Go figure! I have tried all of the primers. I loved Urban Decay, but this whips this primer 100%.

Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
kgloverii 3/26/2013 11:38:00 AM
My background: I'm a middle aged woman who is a stay-at-home mom. I am pretty low maintenance, but I never wear sweats, always have polished nails, and I put a little bit of makeup on every morning so I feel good. I used to be a high-end cosmetics person, but MUA has taught me there are treasures to be had in every drugstore and even the dollar store. (Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells is my go to, every day eye shadow palette, thanks to MUA!) The only really product struggle I still have has been the mascara. I don't do false eyelashes (don't out anything NEAR my eye like that!), and my eyelashes are just "normal". They are medium length, medium fullness, and plain. I've tried so many mascaras it's ridiculous. They all seem to be clumpy, or they don't do much, or they add volume OR lengthen (not both), or they smudge. I have a terrible habit of resting my right hand on my cheek and my mascara ALWAYS smudges. I've tried waterproof mascara and it doesn't do a good job, or I feel like all my eyelashes are going to come loose when I try to remove it. So, in my constant hunt, I consulted MUA, and the reviews have suggested this mascara that's not sold in many places and is totally out of my way to pick up. After another failed attempt with an NYC mascara, I stopped at Walgreens and figured I had to give it a shot. So, a couple mornings ago, I put my makeup on, and it was time for the mascara. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the inevitable disappointment. I put a bit on, wiggling back and forth as other reviewers have said, and did 2 coats, and stepped back to judge. OMG I HAVE STRIPPER LASHES!!! And that's in the best way possible! They are THICK AND LONG and VA-VA-VOOM!! This stuff stays put too. No smudging, but it comes off with my Almay eye makeup remover pads. As other reviewers have said, it's kinda "wet" when you open it up. So be prepared. And a beauty associate said if it gets too dry, put the tube (closed) in a cup of warm water for 5-10 mins and it will soften right up. This is the BEST mascara I have EVER USED. I'm going back to Walgreens to pick up more because I never ever want to run out. Every mom (and wife--and husband of the wife!) deserves stripper lashes.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast in "Private Viewing" #204A
kgloverii 3/17/2013 12:00:00 PM
This is the perfect nude, but a little more polish color. A teeny fleck of shimmer. This is the polish I slap on if I'm in a crunch for time and need good looking nails but am too hurried to be perfect in the application. It covers my yellow-y nail beds when I want to be nude. Wear time is amazing. I own at least 100 different polishes of every brand known to man, and this is my favorite color because it's a never fail product.

Powder -Cover Girl - CoverGirl Ultimate Finish Cream to Powder Makeup
kgloverii 2/12/2013 3:40:00 PM
I love this stuff! It is really buildable, blends flawlessly, and wears all day. It helps me cover my dark circles and uneven skin tone, and doesn't cake. The best part is, I don't need to set it with powder, and I don't get an oil slick mid day. I've tried do many items like this that have been major fails. This one is the best.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Deep Renewal
kgloverii 2/12/2013 3:35:00 PM
I'm a big believer in Blistex products, but this stuff is a major FAIL. It makes my lips peel and dry out. I tried it a few months ago and had that reaction, so I stupidly put it away, and didn't throw it away. I took it out a few days ago and gave it another shot. Same issue. Totally ruins my lips. It's in the trash. I'm not making that mistake again.

Polishes -China Glaze - Camisole

This is a rosey, tan, with a nice hit of pearl. It's my favorite everyday color because the shimmer makes it "special" but it goes from the grocery store to an evening out with ease. Its versatility is awesome. Application is a breeze, and the formula is perfect. Not runny, you can do it in one coat, but I always use 2. I use Gelous as a base coat and on top, with a coat of Seche Vite to finish it off, and I get no chips for about a week.

Polishes -Revlon - Naughty
kgloverii 10/23/2012 3:31:00 PM
This color is the best... Yes, it's a close dupe for Chanel's Paradoxical. It's grayish, bluish, purple with the perfect amount of shimmer. Goes with everything, day or night. It's something "special" but totally appropriate for the office. Vampy, but not. Cool, but not "too cool." It makes me happy whenever I wear it.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - salon effects
kgloverii 9/25/2012 12:10:00 AM
Love these strips!! Piggy-backing on what others have said: 1) there is a learning curve. Follow the directions EXACTLY the first time to get a feel for them. THEN, put a topcoat on. 2) after you've got the hang of it, you can open 1 pack of the strips -8 in a pack- and cut some in half and get a full hand out of 1 pack. So, TWO manicures per box. Make sure you put the second pack in a Ziploc. 3) after you've got it down, a base coat is a must. Orly Bonder for me, but there's no room for error when you start placing a strip with Bonder. Bonder makes them STAY. I love the fun designs. Especially the one that looks like denim. Really fun but not wild. I buy them at Five Below for $3 a box, so $1.50 per mani is a steal.

Top/Base Coats -Orly - Bonder Rubberized Basecoat
kgloverii 9/15/2012 2:45:00 PM
Best base coat by far. The price makes me cringe, and I'll but something else hoping it will be as good as Bonder. Then my manicure will chip instantly and I'll buy the Bonder and kick myself for second guessing. This stuff grips your nail polish. Paired with a decent top coat, you get a week out of your manicure with just tip wear (and I'm a mom who does dishes without gloves, and I bake like crazy). Without Bonder, forget about it. This is a total HG product.

Styling Products -SAMY - Twisted Pomade Spray
kgloverii 7/28/2012 12:05:00 PM
I found this stuff at Dollar Tree and bought one on a whim. Tried it the next day, and went back and bought 4 more bottles. I'm kicking myself for not buying more... I have thick, wavy hair. My daughters have ethnic hair 3b. This stuff works for all of us. We spray on damp hair, and let it air dry. We all get amazing, frizz free beachy waves! Amazing stuff, impossible to find, and I've found no suitable replacement. If you find it, buy!!!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow
kgloverii 6/13/2012 9:04:00 PM
This stuff is INCREDIBLE. I bought this in the Taupe color, which is very matte, and a bit darker than I had anticipated. However, the application is creamy and even and this stuff wears ALL DAY. Even a day at the beach, filled with sweat-filled humidity, is no match for this stuff. The best part is, YOU CAN TOTALLY USE THIS AS A BASE!!! I find myself using this exclusively as a base and layering powder eyeshadow over it, and I get at least 12 hours of non-fading eye color. I love ELF's primer, but it has it's limitations, including sweat, humidity, and time. Using Color Tattoo instead, makes my eyeshadow unbeatable. Two thumbs WAY UP!!

Top/Base Coats -Borghese - Clear Fast Drying Top Coat
kgloverii 6/7/2012 2:33:00 PM
Absolutely AWESOME top coat. Dries fast, gives great shine, and helps my mani last forever. As previous posters have mentioned, it does drag, occasionally. But if I use the application I use with Seche Vite (put a dollop of the polish in the middle of the nail and work from there), this top coat works GREAT. I'm a nail polish junkie, and do my nails twice a week, so I've tried just about every top coat out there, including Seche Vite, Out the Door, OPI, Revlon no chips, etc, and each one seems to have one or more drawbacks. The Borghese is honestly as close to perfection I've found: it's super shiny, wears really well, dries super fast, and it doesn't thicken to a mess like Seche Vite.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Kerasal foot ointment
kgloverii 5/20/2012 12:41:00 AM
If you have dry, cracked feet, don't let the price scare you. I tried everything before Kerasal: pumice stones, scrubs, foot lotions, Vaseline, and nothing worked. My feet remained rough and full of calluses. Kerasal, at night, every night for a week, followed by a week of Bag Balm (socks on after you put either on your feet), and you'll have the most amazing, soft, non-flaky, callus-free feet. After a week, I use Kerasal once a week, and Bag Balm once a week, and my feet stay in fine shape.
