Polishes -Revlon - Top Speed Hazy
rated 5 of 5

I got this on offer at TK Maxx with three other polishes and only got this colour because I liked the other two colours it came with. In the bottle it looks like a normal neutral grey but on the nails it's a grey with blue undertones and I was pleasantly surprised :) Application is easy and dries quickly, only one coat is needed but I do two coats anyway. It has only just started to chip slightly on the fourth day of wear. The only negative I have with this polish is the brush is a bit thick.

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 3 of 5

This was my first cleansing oil I tried, I wanted to like this product so much but unfortunately it gave me spots :( I know it may sound daft as it is an oil but it smells really oily, the smell reminded me of when I used to work in a kitchen. It's nice how it emulsifiers. I tried the oil on its own and tried it with another cleanser afterwards but both methods caused spots, I tried it over a few months too to see if my skin just needed to get used to it but no improvement :( so in the end I gave it to my cousin to use. This stuff really does get rid of all the make up and cleans pores. I have tried jojoba oil since and it does not break me out. I have combination skin, dry skin on cheeks and oily tzone.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - 20% Shea Butter Soap
rated 3 of 5

Being a l'occitane fan I was eager to try out this soap bar. I don't usually use soap bars and got this as part of a package with some other l'occitane products at a discounted price. The packaging and shape of the soap is really nice. It has a nice light scent and lathers up quite nicely. It didn't leave my skin feeling as soft as I had expected, I know soaps generally don't do much for my skin but I had expected more from l'occitane and the smell doesn't linger on the skin.

Polishes -Essie - kisses and bises
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 3/4/2013 2:51:00 PM

I have only tried it once so far but it did such a brilliant job I had to review it straight away. I painted my nails in a dark purple almost black, I was really disappointed with the colour as it's a lot lighter and shimmery in the bottle so I thought I'd layer kisses and busses over it to see what would happen. It lightened the appearance of the purple polish and brought out the shimmer in it. It was easy to apply because it's so sheer the streaks etc don't appear over a dark nail polish. The brush however is vey thin and I would like a wider brush.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
rated 4 of 5

I got this in The CoralIsta make up kit. Its a gorgeous peachy colour that is very subtle at first but builds up very nicely. The brush that comes with it is ok but I prefer to use my brush blush.

Nails -Essie - Cocktail Bling

Gorgeous grey-blue colour. I find the durability of Essie polishes hit and miss, this colour lasted me 4 days with no chips (2 coats, no top coat). The brush is small but application is easy.

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Studio Matte Lip Color
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 10/20/2012 10:31:00 AM

I first bought the Coral colour and I loved it, I normally wear quite natural looking make up and the Coral colour is a little bit more adventurous than what I would normally wear but I still felt comfortable wearing it. I then got it in Natural and Praline, let me say, the Natural on me didn't look very natural, it's a very baby pink that doesn't look right on me (I have warm oriental skin) without me doing my whole face in make up. The Praline is nice and is good for the evening.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Amande Cleansing and Soothing Shower Oil
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 10/20/2012 10:07:00 AM

A relative left this behind for me to have so cant comment on the price but I'm guessing it's quite $$ I love almond scented products and the smell of this was really nice. I have dry skin and I don't have a problem with using bath/shower oils. The good thing about this oil is that it emulsifies so for those who don't usually like bath oils, try this. It is quite thick and doesn't spread well (I prefer to apply to dry skin) so you do have to use a lot of the product. It left my skin feeling soft and moisturised but no more so than other products.

Lotions/ Creams -Garnier - Intensive 7 Days Conditioning Lotion
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 8/2/2012 9:18:00 AM

I have the brown label, dry to very dry skin. The texture is thick which I like, I find they moisturise better and leave the skin feeling moisturised for longer although they take a bit more rubbing to be absorbed. I like the scent but it's not quite yummy. It says it leaves you feeling moisturised for 7 days which I didn't believe and of course it doesn't. I would say I don't feel like I need to moisturise the day after but 2nd day after I do which is the same as any other good moisturiser I have tried.

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Skin Smoothing Lotion with Alpha / Beta Hydroxy & Shea Butter
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 8/2/2012 9:07:00 AM

I wanted a body moisturiser with AHAs or BHAs to reduce my scars, I have loads of stretch marks and chicken pox scars so I had a look around MUA and came across this. I was really happy to find this as its cheap and easily available, I found it in my local Boots :) I'm using it roughly twice a week and haven't noticed any significant reduction in scarring but that's probably because I'm not using it often enough. (This is my first time using AHAs and BHAs so I want to introduce it to my skin slowly...) Although I'm only using it twice a week I have noticed a significant improvement in the smoothness of my skin :D The texture is just right, spreads easily and is absorbed well. Negatives - the smellllllll, oh the smell, it's so weird and while I can put up with it, I don't really like it and it lingers, I can smell it on my pyjamas. It is also stings my hands when I apply, probably cos I have eczema on my fingers so I have to use the parts of my hands without eczema which can make application a bit of a hassle (and another reason as to why I don't apply it every day)

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Almond Oil Daily Hand & Nail Cream
rated 3 of 5
ketu86 8/2/2012 8:44:00 AM

I got this through a relative, she got it as a gift and doesn't use hand cream and gave it to me. Mine came in a foil packaging like L'Occitanes but this one doesn't compare :P I like this packaging because you can really squeeze every last bit of the cream out by rolling the top down. It has a strong scent which is nice but it's slightly different to the Almond body butter that Body Shop used to do and it's not as nice. The texture is thin, I prefer thick hand creams generally as I have very dry hands with eczema and I find thicker hand creams moisturise better. However, this cream did moisturise ok, I would have liked it to be a little thicker to moisturise enough for me. It also left my hands feeling greasy. 100ml lasted me 7 months which is pretty good. I looked up the price and it's reasonable however because of the quality, it's not cheap enough for me to want to repurchase it.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 8/2/2012 8:29:00 AM

I got a three pack of this for cheap in Costco. I have tried various hand creams and I have very dry and eczema on my hands. I like thicker consistency creams and this one is a very thick one and is quite hard to spread all over your hands, it says you only need a dab but because it is hard to spread you need a good 3-4 dabs. The texture isn't cream like, its more like a thick gel which is probably why it's hard to spread. It does sink in after a good rub and left my hands feeling moisturised. It has a strong floral scent which I'm not particularly fond of but you can get an unscented version of it. I like squeezy tubes but the screw lid is annoying, why didn't they just put a flip cap on it. The hole the cream comes out of is small though so you can always get out an accurate amount of cream. I think for the price it is a good cream.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Bamboo Powder Brush
rated 5 of 5
ketu86 7/16/2012 1:22:00 PM

I use it to apply bronzer to my face and this is my favourite face brush, the bristles are a bit longer than the studio powder brush and studio complexion brush. It is a bit more expensive than the studio brushes though.

Shampoo -Redken - All Soft Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 7/16/2012 1:10:00 PM

This shampoo really does what it says. It makes my hair feel nice and soft and the softness lasts till the next wash. I also find I have less tangles and it is easier to blowdry my hair straight when using this shampoo. I have only come across one shampoo so far which doesn't cause me hair loss, unfortunately Redken does (although not as much as other shampoos) which is why I have given it 4 lippies.

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick - ALL
rated 4 of 5
ketu86 7/16/2012 12:56:00 PM

As others have said these are more like glosses than lipsticks. You don't get a lot of product but for the price it is still cheap. The packaging reminds me of Clinique and when other people see me use it they've asked me if it was expensive. I don't like the sponge tip, I don't think its very hygienic. I got it in bark and pink lemonade, the bark goes on nice and sheer with a hint of colour. The pink lemonade is similar to Lancome's juicy tube in lychee. Both are nicely pigmented.
