Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Cure - Natural Aqua Gel

I used sample sizes of this sent to me with orders from Imomoko -- I was skeptical at first, but I am really impressed by this stuff. It is a gentle and fragrance-free exfoliant, great for someone like me who has sensitive skin. It really does get off dead skin! It's kind of creepy, but very cool. I'm now debating about getting a full-size, because I find the price insanely steep... but on the other hand, I loved the effects of this stuff.

Cleansers -My Beauty Diary - Aloe Amino Acid Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
keanash 6/6/2012 3:40:00 AM

I got this as a gift so put a "3" for price. This foaming cleanser is available for a limited time and supposedly contains amino acids. Amino acids are "supposed" to stimulate the product of collagen so your skin will look firmer and fine lines and wrinkles will appear plumped up and less visible. It smells sweet and foams pretty easily with water. The product is a thick, pearl-ish formula. I don't like that it comes in a pot... but I guess at least they included the tiny spatula! That will help get all the product out, and the pot is not a bad shape so I don't think I'll have a hard time getting to the bottom easily and using it all. Overall it cleans well and leaves my combination, sensitive skin feeling refreshed, but not very moisturized. Would not repurchase, but will use for the time being as I like the sweet smell. The extra cleansing might be nice for summer, too.

Styling Products -Boots - essentials curling creme
rated 4 of 5
keanash 6/6/2012 12:05:00 AM

It is legit. I have fine, thin, 2a hair. I used this in tandem with Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz because I read reviews saying it should be used with something that has a little more hold. My waves and curls are defined, soft, not crunchy at all. I love it! I will use it alone in a test later, to see what it can do on its own.

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - FITS - Love Switch Pink Brown Mascara
rated 4 of 5
keanash 5/26/2012 2:22:00 AM

This is a Japanese product. The statement on Imomoko is: "Instead of using black, brown makeup makes your impression much sweeter and softer. This pink brown mascara gives a new look with dolly and cute impression. The special brown color contained pink pearl brings out unexpectedly charming eyes." This mascara is pink brown, which is to say it is a dark brown mascara with a pink pearl colourant added so that it has a sweet sort of mauve-y pink look to it. It's not glaringly pink, but the effect is a softer brown. My eyes are naturally bright green, and purple or pinky mascaras look nice with the shade, so I knew that this would be a winner for me, at least for colour. I'm happy to say this mascara does not irritate my usually-sensitive eyes. It removes with warm water and eye-makeup remover. It holds a decent curl, but my understanding is that FITS make a curling pink brown mascara that is better for curl. The main thing I dislike about this mascara is thatthe brush gets loaded with a *lot* of product when removed from the tube! It goes on very wet and heavy and takes a bit to dry. The bristles on the brush are rather short compared to other mascara wands I've used, so maybe that's why. This mascara also costs 20$USD on Imomoko which is pretty expensive for me, so while I like the colour, I'd probably have to really think about re-purchasing.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - Jealousness - Waterproof Eyeliner Gel
rated 4 of 5
keanash 5/26/2012 2:16:00 AM

Jealousness is a Taiwanese cosmetic company. The gel eyeliner pencil comes in four shades: Smoked Black, Diamond Black, Nature Brown, Sparkling Brown. The "diamond" and "sparkling" shades are simply a shimmer or glitter version of the colour. I purchased both Nature and Sparkling Brown pencils from Imomoko. This is a twist-up pencil, not a pencil that needs to be sharpened. The gel core is very soft and easy to apply. It is quite waterproof but my FANCL makeup remover removes this eyeliner very easily with minimal rubbing, which pleases me. The packaging is quite cute -- the pencils are a pretty pink colour with cursive lettering and golden lids. They twist up easily and the makeup applies smooth and even. The colours are nice and dark, with the Sparkling Brown being a more light or mauve type of brown than the other. I like both shades quite well. This wears through a whole 12 hour shift at work for me without smudging or noticeable colour movement. I really like it!

Fragrances -Guerlain - Vol de Nuit
rated 5 of 5
keanash 5/22/2012 1:01:00 AM

Vol de Nuit, you were worth every hard-earned and carefully-saved penny. Created in 1933, the top notes are bergamot, galbanum and petit grain; heart notes are jasmine, daffodil and spices; base notes are earthy woods, iris, vanilla, amber and woodsy notes. Like so many perfumes I love it is an old and deep scent, sitting close to the skin -- but not so close as to make it not worth my while. I'll have to add more later.

Shampoo -LUSH - BIG
rated 2 of 5
keanash 5/6/2012 1:54:00 AM

As a person whose hair is both baby-fine AND thin, I am now and always have been in search of volume. Obviously, that's what brought me to Big. Unfortunately for me this is a very, very, VERY drying shampoo. My hair squeaks when I use this and I promise you: that is a Bad Thing. Even after conditioning my hair doesn't feel much better, and if it does add volume I think it's only because it roughs the hair up so much. I also HATE how this leaves a salt residue over your skin when you rinse it off. Woe betide you if it gets on your lips! Disgusting! I'll never purchase again. I'll find other ways to add volume.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
rated 5 of 5
keanash 5/5/2012 11:55:00 PM

I love my Salux cloth! It is very abrasive especially when you first begin to use it. I do not use this cloth on my face or the juicy bit -- it's too harsh for that tender skin! But for legs, arms, and back, it's divine. This has really helped the smoothness and overall look of my skin, and I think it's fun to use on your back since you can slide it back and forth! To clean you can toss it in the washer and then just hang it up to dry. It lasts a long time, I've had mine for years.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Natureluxe mousse mascara
rated 3 of 5
keanash 5/5/2012 4:36:00 AM

Finally! Something that doesn't irritate my very sensitive eyes! I buy the non-waterproof version for this reason. I like the tiny brush this has, because I aim to define my lashes -- they're already long, I don't need help there. I'm really more impressed with this product than I originally thought. It *is* very wet and takes a while to dry. Since I'm a beggar when it comes to mascara and the bottom line is irritation, I tend to not be a chooser and go for what I can get. Right now this is suiting me. I keep trying to find something that I'll love as much as I loved DiorShow, but for now, this will do.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
rated 1 of 5

Not suitable for very fair people, no shades for us. Too oily. Otherwise nothing to say, since it doesn't come in a shade that I can wear.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Manipulator
rated 3 of 5
keanash 5/5/2012 2:06:00 AM

I feel this product is only appropriate for those with short hair. A styling agent with this amount of sticky/tacky feeling to it tends to clump up something awful in longer hair -- or at least it did for me. For those with very fine or thin hair, watch out! This can be quite heavy. I used this to help style my hair when it was very short, in many stages of growing out my mohawk. I liked it while my hair was short, but I noticed a big difference in its efficacy once my hair got a bit longer. Since I now wear my hair long, I would not repurchase -- but I might consider it had I any desire to have short hair again.

Blush -Illamasqua - Cream Blusher - Seduce
rated 4 of 5
keanash 4/29/2012 6:28:00 AM

This blush is a warm rose pink with a dewy finish. I got this by mistake -- Sephora.com sent me the wrong product. I intended to send it back untried but I decided I might as well just put it on once. I was really, really surprised. The colour was so BOLD in the package I thought surely it wouldn't work on my complexion. I swiped this on with fingers, over skin that was just sunscreen & moisturizer because I don't use foundations much. It's got a very pretty, blendable colour and a smooth and silky texture. The rosy pink really seems to glow! I've worn it many days in a row since and it's very versatile with my wardrobe. I'll be keeping this!

Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Mistress
rated 4 of 5
keanash 4/29/2012 2:52:00 AM

Love the lipstick. It's smooth and creamy with a weightless feeling when on, which is refreshing. The colour payoff is good, and I find the red to be one of the few pinkish types I can pull off -- just what I was expecting, as I am a naturally green eyed, strawberry blonde woman, and I decided to pick this up after hearing it's the colour used on Joan of Mad Men fame. Colour fades evenly, does not feather. I dislike the packaging, however, finding it bulky and, well, ugly. But then again, whose lipstick packaging DO I like? (It's a short list: Besame and Chanel.)

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Miss Dior Cherie
rated 1 of 5
keanash 4/29/2012 2:49:00 AM

It is painful to me that this horrifically sweet, cloying, cheap-smelling perfume should bear any part of the name "Miss Dior", which was one of the loveliest chypres. Absolutely not worth any money spent. This is a child's perfume that smells like it should come in a plastic bottle with a doll.
