Hair Removal -Olay - Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo
rated 3 of 5
kbohaty 12/27/2012 2:40:00 PM

Let me first say that this is the first facial hair removal product I've tried. I don't do waxing/threading/etc on my face. However, I did find that this product worked well at removing my (blond, fine) hair from the upper lip area. You do have to follow the directions to rub the clear balm in enough so that its not creating too much of a barrier between your skin and the remover, but enough so that it protects your skin from irritation (I think they say 20 seconds). I do have quite sensitive skin and have had no irritation or redness from this product, but I only leave it on for 4-5 minutes max. I think the trick is you have to apply a very thick layer of the removal cream. The first time, in some areas like very near the lip, I didn't apply it thickly enough and those hairs were not removed. I have used it 5 or 6 times now still with no problems. That said, I do think the price is high for what you get and would not purchase without a coupon or something to lower the price.

Mascara -Stila - Stay All Day Waterproof Mascara
rated 3 of 5
kbohaty 12/27/2012 12:15:00 PM

I got this in a sample size with a Stila purchase. I LOVE this mascara except for one tiny little thing - the fact that its waterproof! I don't want to wear a waterproof mascara everyday because I think removing it is a little harsh on my lashes. However, this gave me an amazing look. I didn't experience any clumps, and its the best volumizing mascara I've used in...well maybe ever (and that's saying a lot because I change my mascara about every two months and its rarely the same one twice). But the fact that its waterproof will keep this from being an everyday thing for me. Will definitely use when I am in need of a waterproof formula but not sure if that's worth buying the full size. Wish they made this in non-waterproof version.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Photo Op Enhancing Palette - Blue Eyes
rated 4 of 5
kbohaty 12/27/2012 11:59:00 AM

LOVE this palette! I'm fair skinned with dark blue eyes and always turn my nose up at those other blue eyes palettes that contain blue eye shadow. I'm not a fan of blue eye shadow in general and I'm of the belief that using the same color as your eyes will only draw away from and will not enhance your eye color. So I was thrilled when this palette didn't contain any blue eye shadow. My skin tone is actually cool but I personally love the warm tones of these eye shadows, as well as the fact that they are quite neutral. It comes with six shadows, one for a soft look and one for a more dramatic look. The brush is nice too, one end is a good flat brush for applying color all over and the other a smaller point for precision application. I've found that I can make this work for the office or for a night out and I like that they give you a shimmery sorbet as well as a matte orange color. I happen to love an orange tone on blue eyes as long as its faint - which these are. My only complaint is that the "soft" look contains all shimmery shadows, which can be a bit much all at once, but easy enough to mix in the other shadows for some matte on there. The only reason this is not a 5 for me is the price is a bit steep. The quality is wonderful but $50 is still a lot to stomach.

Treatments -Kate Somerville - Clinic-to-Go Resurfacing Peel Pads
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 12/27/2012 11:47:00 AM

I wanted to jump on the "at home peel" bandwagon and read about this in Allure so I gave it a try. For my money, this product is GREAT. First off - ease of use: the packaging couldn't be easier, you just stick your fingers into a little pouch and peel off the wrapper on the front then wipe in circles on your face. Each box comes with two "cycles" (you use it twice a week for four weeks) which is why I love that they are individually pacakged so you can use one cycle and hold off on the other for a later date (which is what I did, used about 2 months later and the product had not dried out at all). A slight tingling on the face but nothing bothersome. Second, the results: you leave on for just a few minutes and rinse off. Immediately my face was SO smooth and exfoliated. I tend to get little dry patches/flakes in certain areas and this wiped them all right away. Over time, I noticed my skin was brighter and more even. I never had any breakouts or ill-effects from the product (and for the record, I am slightly acne prone). I've tried a sample of the Dr.Dennis Gross Alpha Beta peel and the results were fine, but you are supposed to use those everyday and I already do so much for my routine that using it everyday seems like a little too much. That said, I prefer the Kate Somerville that you only use twice a week, but still gives great results. I of course wish they cost a bit less, but I think compared to other products the price is decent. Will likely repurchase and definitely recommend!

Mascara -Urban Decay - Supercurl Curling Mascara
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 1/24/2012 9:02:00 PM

First I will say that I never buy the same mascara twice, so I have tried a lot of mascaras. To that end, I got the mascara sampler from Sephora and this was part of it. I am very impressed with this one. My lashes are naturally long, straight and I curl them (will hold a curl unless its raining/humid/nasty out). What impressed me about this mascara is it did not clump, flake or make my lashes fall from a curl (some do). I like the curved brush and think it really gets all my lashes coated. I will definitely consider purchasing this in the full size.

Treatments -Revlon - Crazy Shine nail buffer
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 12/4/2011 1:24:00 PM

I have to say that I got this product for free as part of the Ulta points rewards program so the price is not a factor for this review. However, I would consider buying it because it really works as advertised. My nails look like I have a coat of clear polish on them and it only took a few minutes to use (obviously no dry time either!). A nice alternative to nail polish when you don't have the time.

Mascara -FairyDrops - Scandal Queen Mascara
rated 2 of 5
kbohaty 11/9/2011 4:04:00 PM

I got this mascara in a sample size in the Sephora favorites mascara sampler. I was really excited given all the hype about how popular it is in Japan, plus I have the type of lashes they describe (long, straight, hard to hold a curl). However I was disappointed. If I didn't wipe the brush I got clumps of mascara and if I did wipe the brush I didn't get enough. I guess it would be a good mascara if you're looking for something that provides a very natural effect, but I was expecting more from this one and you could find drugstore brands that will give the same look. I will say it did a decent job of holding a curl, but that's not enough for me to consider buying the full size.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Rose Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
kbohaty 10/21/2011 11:47:00 PM

I am addicted to this stuff, the only drawback is the price! Its a little ridiculous but then again I have (and likely will) repurchase. I love tinted lip balms and this gives just the right amount of tint. it actually moisturizes my lips for a long time after I apply it (can't say the same for many other lip balms) and love that it has SPF.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Lipgloss with Mega Shine - Beige
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 10/21/2011 11:44:00 PM

I'm a lip gloss hoarder and this is one of the best I've ever found in both color and consistency. I don't like the sticky glosses and this has just the right amount of staying power without being goopy. even though the color is called beige its really more of a pink but very sheer. I also am a huge fan of the color Miami Babe. More of a brown tint but still a more sheer gloss.

Treatments -Philosophy - Turbo Booster C Powder
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 10/21/2011 11:39:00 PM

I've been using this for about 1.5 months and I definitely notice an improvement in my face. My face is brighter and my skin looks more even. I use the product about 4-5 days a week in the morning and I feel like it even helps my makeup stay on better. Compared to the Skinceuticals vitamin C product I always read about, the price is VERY good plus it actually gives results. It takes an extra step to mix it in with your lotion/serum/whatever but I think its worth it. I keep the bottle in the fridge and portion out a bit into one of those MAC sample containers, which I hope is helping the product stay stable longer but who really knows. Either way, I've seen results and am impressed.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Natureluxe mousse mascara
rated 5 of 5
kbohaty 8/3/2011 2:16:00 PM

I am always trying new mascaras and I think I finally found one I would buy again. I have long, straight lashes that I curl everyday and most mascaras weigh my lashes down so that they start to straighten halfway through the day. So far I have not seen that happen with this mascara. Its super light and coats really well too. It probably won't give you a really dramatic nighttime look, but for everyday wear I think its great. Also no flakes, even when I put it on my lower lashes.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole Fresh Wear
rated 4 of 5
kbohaty 12/18/2010 3:56:00 PM

I went to Sephora and got samples of this, Teint Idole Ultra and Teint Miracle. This was the product I chose to buy. For me, the Ultra was great but provided more coverage than I wanted. And Teint Miracle just didn't seem to be the same color as the rest (I got Matte Buff II in all), it seemed to be a little lighter. But the main thing I didn't like Teint Miracle was that it seemed to rub off througout the day moreso than Fresh Wear and leave me with sort of a patchy coverage look (up close of course, no one except me probably would have noticed). I've been using Fresh Wear for about 2 weeks now and I really like it - stays on and provides good coverage without it being obvious I'm wearing foundation. I also love that they've added SPF 15. Definitely recommend.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant
rated 4 of 5
kbohaty 10/17/2010 9:58:00 AM

I started reading some of Paula's materials and she sold me on the need for a BHA exfoliant. So I decided to try the gel since I do have oily skin. Ever since I stopped using Differin my face has been like an oil slick. When I use this product under makeup during the day, I notice a SIGNIFICANT decrease in the oiliness of my face. Some days I don't have to blot at all. Sadly, I can't speak to the anti-breakout effects since I got pregnant shortly after I began using it and my hormones went all out of whack. But this is definitely better than any oil control product I have ever used (mattifier, primer, etc). I should also say that during the summer I stopped using lotion too and that likely helped the oil situation too. But I would repurchase simply for the oil control effects alone!

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes
rated 4 of 5
kbohaty 7/19/2010 11:31:00 AM

I have tried many concealers and this is the best yet. Not sure if its my HG but def the best I've found so far. I have genetic dark bluish undereye circles so its a challenge to find something that works well. I've been using this for about 2 years (same bottle) so its definitely long lasting. I do put a few dabs of yellow stick concealer on the most blue part of the circle, then this over top and I'm very pleased with the coverage. The waterproof aspect is great, especially when I get caught in the rain on the way to work. My only complaint is that it does seem to settle into the fine lines throughout the day, but not enough of a problem to stop using it. I just gently pat over them and its good enough to keep going.

Tinted Moisturizer -MAC - Studio Moisture Tint SPF15
rated 3 of 5
kbohaty 7/8/2010 7:45:00 PM

I am really into the idea of a tinted moisturizer and this is a good one. I really liked the color (Medium) and I am a fan of the coverage it provides. I found it to be more than adequate when compared with the coverage that other tinted moisturizers provide. However, after a few months of using this, I think my skin is just too oily to tolerate it. For someone with more dry/normal skin I think it might work really well. But I'm going to keep looking. EDIT: ever since I started using Paula's Choice 2% BHA gel I'm able to wear this product without as much problems with oil. Might try this again as we go into the winter months.
