Ok, so this stuff got good reviews on MUA and on the ELF website, so I figured I would steer away from my MAC cleanser and give this a go. First of all, some people say the smell isn't that bad, but I think the smell is horrendous. If I try to clean more than two brushes, I start to get a migraine. And I don't think it really cleaned all that well. With my MAC cleanser, I would usually spray three sprays on a paper towel, wipe the brush off a few times, and it'd be clean. With the ELF, I'd have to do it over and over and it still wouldn't be totally clean. I dumped it out after using it maybe three times. Instead, I used Enkore's recipe for homemade cleaner and it works amazingly.
Mascara -Cover Girl - Natureluxe Mousse Mascara - Water Resistant

I'm not exactly sure what is so mousse-y about this. As other reviewers have said, it seems to be the same consistency as any other mascara. That being said, I am a fan. I usually don't like plastic applicators with mascara, but this one works well. I use two coats and my lashes look full and long. At the end of the day, I use my Bioderma makeup remover paired with Purity Made Simple and it comes off pretty easily. Most important, my fiance has told me how nice my eyelashes look when I wear this, which has never happened before.

I had always heard people raving about these gadgets, whether the Clarisonic or whatever, but I never saw the point. Then I went in to get a facial and they used the Clarisonic on me, and it was amazing. I couldn't justify buying the Clarisonic, so I decided to give this a try. Let me just tell you, it is pretty freaking great. I had problem skin my whole life with a lot of left over bumps and scarring, and it's already faded in the few weeks I've been using this. I have actually gotten compliments on how good my skin looks and that NEVER happens. I have tried a variety of cleansers with it, and they all work well. I use a cleansing oil prior to using this and there is nothing on the cotton pad when I use my toner. This does make me want to try the Clarisonic, but for the time being, I am very content.
I wish I could give half stars, because in this case I would use it. I always wish I could put maybe. I had high hopes for this because everyone said it smelled really good, but I personally prefer Therapy massage bar. I also find Therapy easier to work with. I don't know if it is the size of this one or just the fact that it is winter, but this one doesn't get a slick as my Therapy bar. I really have to work to get the lotion to come off, and it isn't very smooth, it's actually rather sticky. And while it doesn't smell good in the beginning, over time it lingers on your skin and gets sort of sickeningly sweet. But on the plus side, the smell does last all day. It is also the best deal of the massage bars, I think, because it is much bigger than the others. I will obviously use it up, but probably won't get again.
I got a sample of this with an order at Sephora. At first, I wasn't too keen on it as I thought it smelled sort of sickenly sweet. I have been wearing it a lot lately as I have left the little vial at my SO's apartment for touchs up. I have grown to love it. It lasts all day, lingering on my skin to well after I get home from work at night. It's girly, but not too overpowering, and not too "old" smelling, if that makes sense. Will add this to my to-buy list...or I'll just keep getting Sephora samples...
Moisturizers -Origins - VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-boosting moisturizer with Mangosteen

I had heard raves about this product and it sounded perfect, so I had to try it out. I only wanted a sample, but two counters wouldn't budge, so I decided to buy it and then I'd take it back if I didn't like it. This is never going back. It is amazing. Not only does it give me that great light coverage for daytime, but I have actually seen a huge improvement in my skin. It is so clear and so smooth. This is not a foundation and doesn't give a ton of coverage for a bad skin day or a night out, but for work or just hanging out. It is beyond perfect. Will buy over and over again.
Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Ultra Chi by Farouk

I have bought a wide variety of straighteners over the years...but I have never used one as amazing a this Chi. I held out for a long time because I didn't want to spend the money, but Santa brought me one this year, and I will never go back. It gives me amazing straight hair...or great curls. And my favorite is a slight wave, which I have been trying to get forever. Love, love love it.
I love stippling brushes, so when I saw this addition to the Studio line, I had to pick it up. Initially, I was bummed because it wasn't as dense as my other stippling brushes. I used a few different ways with a few different products and eventually realized this is the perfect brush for applying thinner foundations, specifically (for me) NARS Sheer Glow. I also love how it doesn't seep up too much product.
Primer/ Corrector -E.L.F. - Mineral Infused Face Primer
katyd316 12/3/2010 10:56:00 PM
It might be a little early to call this a HG product, but it has HG potential for sure. I've been using this for the past week and all I can say is amazing. After 10 hours, my makeup looks just as good as when I put it on. My blush doesn't fade, and it gives me a nice glow. I really like the feeling of it on the skin, smooth and almost velvety. I really like the look of the packaging, but the pump sometimes dispenses a tad too much (that is my only gripe). But for the price, you can't beat it.
Hello HG brow product. My eyebrows have always given me issues. I used pencils and shadows before but they never ever looked good. I went to ELF to get their mineral face primer and wanted to try out a few things so I got this in medium. As soon as I used it, I was in love. I also bought the Studio Angled Brush which works PERFECTLY with this. My brows have never looked better. It makes my brows look so good yet so natural at the same time.
I begin this review with a disclaimer. It is quite possibly I will love this very soon. I bought it in a blog sale for half the price of retail because I had been lemming it for so long. The first two times I wore it...amazing, absolutely beautiful. Long-lasting, dewy coverage. Then I wore it twice more...and eh, not so much. Even with my HG primer, it still wore off by the end of the day, something that hadn't happened the other two times. I have combination oily skin, but with my primer, even drugstore foundations stay all day. I did use a different brush the second time, so maybe that had something to do with it. But I will definitely keep trying because I love it at first so much.
Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
katyd316 8/23/2010 11:35:00 PM
It terms of primer, this is pretty good. I have tried a bunch of different ones, and this is in the upper echelon of products. I have combination/oily skin and this keeps the shine away and keeps my foundation, blush, etc on throughout the day. The main reason I love this stuff is due to the fact it does incredible things for my pores. I had tried out MAC's P&P Skin Refined Zone which did nada to reduce my poor size. This stuff shrinks them and smooths them out and helps make my foundation look great. I haven't check closely with how it/if it fills my fine lines, but I will buy it again for the pore magic.
There not enough words for my describe how much I love this. Urban Decay shadows are beyond my favorite formulation and to get all of these neutral shades in one palette is amazing. I had gotten the BOS 2 last year and loved that as well, but ended up selling it because I never used any of the bright shadows, and needless to say, I really missed Half Baked. But ta da! It's in this palette. I got this two weeks ago and haven't touched another shadow since (my poor MAC shadows). My favorites are HB, Toasted, Sin, and Naked, but I can't really play favorites because they are all lovely. Such a great deal for what it is.
Concealers -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
katyd316 8/16/2010 12:42:00 AM
Needless to say, this is in the running for HG under eye concealer. I put this on and voila, the dark circles are gone...or well, diminished. It goes on really smooth and blends like a dream. With Maybelline on sale a lot at the drugstore, it is totally worth it.
Like seriously, could there be a better lip gloss for summer? I had originally just bought Peach Petal because I thought Coral Reef was going to be way to orange on me. I love Peach Petal, then one day...bam, I wanted Coral Reef. I had to go to 6 different stores to find it, but Ulta was the winner. Man, am I SO glad I got this. It is such a gorgeous coral color that totally brightens up my face (NC20). I love the consistencies of the Super Lustrous glosses. These and BE Buxom are my faves. I like to layer this gloss over MAC's Pink Fish tinted lip conditioner and it's a gorgeous summer lip. I think I am going to reapply right now.
