Sunscreen -Korres - Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream SPF 30
katycucumber 1/12/2011 10:21:00 AM
I found this product to be so heavy and oily I felt uncomfortable wearing it on my body, let alone my face. It just felt like a breakout waiting to happen. It didn't sink in, just sat on the surface feeling oily, greasy and dirty. Avoid!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - This Works Super Moisture
katycucumber 1/12/2011 10:18:00 AM
Firstly, this product stinks, as mentioned in other reviews it contains essential oils which have a very strong smell. It reminds me of anthisan, the cream my parents would put on insect bites when I was a child. Luckily the scent vanishes after a few minutes and you can evaluate the product better. I do like this moisturiser, I have young skin with occasional breakouts on my T-Zone but dry patches in winter. This seems to soothe the dry patches without making me feel greasy or like i need to wash my face again. It has the magic texture of being light yet rich. I have problems with the packaging, on one hand it feels good quality and the pump dispenser is hygienic. But as the plastic is opaque white you can't see how much you have left, and from experience pump dispensers never dispense the last bit of product so you end up throwing some away. I wouldn't repurchase this product but I'd love to receive more as a gift!

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - This Works: Turbo Balm
katycucumber 1/12/2011 10:11:00 AM
My tub of this is labeled as 'Lip Balm' but after some research it's the same as Turbo Balm. It's quite a light balm, I've only tried it on my lips (and not elbows, cuticles etc as the packaging suggests) and while it makes my lips feel nice and soft and pillowy for about half an hour, after that I feel like I need to reapply. This is an inoffensive, nice product, it doesn't make me gag with awful scents or textures, but it's not life saving either. I wouldn't repurchase, but I will carry on using the tub I have.

Polishes -OPI - Vodka & Caviar

the perfect red. goes on bright and solid with a perfect formula. it has a slight jelly finish which adds to the brightness and none of the orange tones i found with big apple red. i wear this on my toes constantly and on my fingers when i'm feeling bold.

Skincare -Unlisted Brand - Kyoku For Men - Lip Fuel
katycucumber 7/9/2010 1:12:00 PM
First up, Kyoku is a mens skincare range, and I'm reviewing this as a woman. I stumbled across this on lookfantastic.com and instantly wanted it due to the describtion - buttery and minty - perfect! It doesn't dissapoint and delivers a peppermint tingle while being long lasting and leaving my lips nice and soft. The balm itself is pretty thick so a little goes a long way. It's a really great formula coupled with a great scent and I'd recommend it for any man or woman after a refreshing lip balm. The packaging is a simple black glossy tube with white text, very much aimed towards men. the dispenser is very fine and pointed, not angled, so it needs to be applied with a finger which I like anyway but some people might find a bit messy or icky. The ingredients list features many 'natural' ingredients which is always welcome and it has an SPF of 15. Overall if you see this while shopping, grab a tube! It's better than most female orientated skincare brands and seems like it will last a long time.

Lip Treatments -Yes To Carrots - lip butter
katycucumber 7/8/2010 6:03:00 PM
I have this in the original carrot flavour, plus berry and mint. I'd say carrot is more of a carrot cake scent than the fresh vegetable, which quickly became sickening so I just use the mint and berry ones now. I can't fault this lip butter, goes on smoothly and lasts for ages, scent isn't overpowering and my lips down feel even drier when it does wear off. The packaging is nice and compact and asily fits into the pocket of my tight jeans without looking bumpy. I'd buy again to try the other flavours.

Polishes -OPI - Big Apple Red
katycucumber 7/8/2010 5:59:00 PM
Nice enough colour and formula, goes on smoothly and looks perfect in a couple of coats. Could do with being a little more opaque but it's easy enough to build up. HOWEVER it's just a tad on the orange side for me and my pale english skin. So I'm still looking for the perfect red. The search continues...

Eyeliner -GOSH - Extreme Art Eyeliner
katycucumber 11/26/2009 7:08:00 PM
ok, most importantly, this eyeliner is LONG LASTING! i usually use mac liquidlast but find it goes gunky in the tube very quickly, this product is cheaper and seems to be holding up much better. they give a nice line and i find the brush good to use (but then i do prefer fine brushes). i use the black and a deep metallic plum colour which suit me fine. i find the other colours in the range rather cheap looking however, bright and gaudy which isn't my style. overall there are a few beautiful colours in the range, which i will continue using as they give a nice line and lasting finish, but for other shades i prefer the more sophisticated range that mac produces.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Splash - Fig
katycucumber 11/4/2008 8:16:00 PM
Firstly I have to say this frangrance costs £45 here in the UK but you get so much and can apply it liberally without suffocating yourself so I feel it's worth every penny. The bottle is heavy and substantial and I feel happy using it as a room and fabric scent as well as on myself. Initially this fragrance has the familiar, sweet fig tones but quickly settles down into a wonderful warm, musky scent with undertones of old fashioned soap. When wearing this splash I constantly smell my wrists, it's a reassuring, subtle scent and has taken over from the cucumber splash (my summer scent!) as the weather turns cold and i want something softer.

Polishes -OPI - Russian Navy
katycucumber 6/18/2008 9:28:00 PM
This product tricked me into buying it; in the bottle it appears to be a a metallic purple but on the nail it appears much more navy with only the tiniest of red shimmer. However despite not being what I expected it's still a beautiful colour and i'm glad i've got it. It's great quality, highly pigmented and goes on smoothly and streak-free.

Shampoo -Frederic Fekkai - Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo
katycucumber 1/22/2008 9:07:00 PM
Ok, first things first, this shampoo is EXPENSIVE! However i'll forgive the price because it's such a great product. it smells devine and lathers well, leaving my hair feeling weightless and free of build up. i follow with a light conditioner and my hair feels soft and clean. i have fine, straight hair that is prone to oiliness and build up and this shampoo leaves it light and free-floweing. love it!

Eyeliner -Stila - Kajal Eyeliner in Rose Quartz
katycucumber 1/22/2008 9:02:00 PM
Lovely soft, creamy eyeliner in a soft pinky/bronze shade. Very subtle. The best thing about these stila eyeliners is their texture, non-drag and easy to apply. They smudge easily to give a soft look and last well throughout the day.

Liquid -By Terry - Light Expert
katycucumber 9/6/2007 7:51:00 PM
i don't usually wear foundation because i find it often makes my skin look dull and ends up cakey, plus because i'm pale i often find even the lightest shades look orangey on me. i bought this product on a whim when i was feeling indulgent and i'm so glad i took the plunge. the price is shocking and i'm not too keen on the brush applicator but the actual foundation is amazing. it really does make my skin look flawless and glowing, my t-zone doesn't become clogged or early and my cheeks don't get dry. just peachy clean looking skin. it really is magic and the effect lasts all day, i've actually found myself admiring my skin in mirrors while i'm out and i swear i'm not usually so vain! if you can afford it i would urge you to try this foundation, it really is a fantastic product.

Shampoo -Bliss Labs - Lemon and Sage Supershine Shampoo
katycucumber 8/18/2007 3:32:00 PM
i bought this primarily because i loved the scent, which is fresh but also has that wonderful herby undertone to it. it's a good shampoo. i have very fine, straight hair and aften find products too heavy or greasy but this shampoo cleans my hair well and doesn't have any bad effects. it lathers up well, though i wish the packaging wasn't so hard to squeeze, and rinses easily. however it doesn't have the 'supershine' qualities it claims to have. my hair is dark and naturally quite glossy but this didn't add any shine. it left my hair soft, smooth and managable but hardly dazzling.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Cucumber
katycucumber 8/18/2007 3:18:00 PM
i love love LOVE this scent! i bought it on a whim after spritzing some on in space.nk and since then it's become my daily scent. i even have a little muji bottle of it in my bag to top up during the day. it's a very fresh, green fragrance, i can definately smell cut grass in there and the actually cucumber tone is very subtle. it's refreshing and perfect for hot weather when sweet or heavy perfumes can become sickly and stifling. it is expensive, but the bottle is large enough so that you feel able to use it daily rather than saving it for special occasions, thus meaning you get alot of use out it. it's also a very minimal and modern designed bottle, it feel substantial in your hand and you have the option of spraying or splashing it on. fantastic stuff.
