Lipstick -MAC - Hue

This is my first MAC lippie, and it broke me out! Both times i tried to wear it for more than 5 minutes I broke out right along my lip line, which never happens. it is simply devastating. I absolutely love the color. I'm venturing into the world of lipstick, and this had just enough pigment to be noticeable, but not too much for me to feel uncomfortably made up, in a beautiful young and fresh looking pink-nude color. It doesn't last very long, but I loved slathering it on anyway so I didn't mind. Really, the only reason I wouldn't buy it again is because my skin doesn't like it, not me personally. So sad it didn't work for me :(

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Clean Start Welcome Matte SPF15

I bought this to use in conjunction with ProActiv. I wanted to replace the ProActiv SPF moisturizer (which is awful btw). Dermalogica Welcome Matte, is much, much better. It is not completely matte, but not super shiny. It just doesn't add any extra shine to my face, which I like, and provides an acceptable amount of moisture for the light weight feel of the formula. Not amazing, oh so soft and moist skin, but good enough. And the SPF is really effective, I've lost color since I started using this. Plus, no breakouts from this product. It would be fantastic if it was a bit more moisturizing, using all that BP makes my oily skin a bit dehydrated, but it does keep the flakes to a minimum. It does have a scent, to me its citrusy...kind of like limes? but it fades a few seconds after applying. Overall, It's a solid product. I would buy it again and recommend it to anyone on the normal-oily side for a regular, daily moisturizer.

Masks -Philosophy - The great mystery

I really enjoyed this product. I'm extremely acne prone and always using BP treatments, it's the only thing that works for me, but putting a layer on morning and night leaves my skin really dull, and I get oily. So my skin looks like an oil spill on a desert, sort of. Not pretty. This product doesn't do anything dramatic. It just normalized my skin and made it nice and soft. I imagine a good night cream would do the same, but I'm scared of moisturizers considered anything other than lightweight because they break me out. BP acne treatment + lightweight moisture + this in the morning made my skin nice and normal looking :) Unfortunately I'm all out and as I can live without it (I prefer not to) I won't rebuy because it is a little pricey :( Ahh...I'll probably break down and get it soon enough, its just a really nice way to start the day :P

Blush -NYX - Pinky
rated 4 of 5

I love this blush! I usually stick with peachy shades, but wanted to branch out into pink, boldly! And cheaply too. I paid $4.50 for this in a shabby shop in the garment district :P This product is great, really versatile too since it's so pigmented. For a more natural look, I just dab my brush into the pan very very softly, and sometimes i still pick up too much color. Honestly, you can get clown cheeks with this stuff, I've done it on purpose (what can I say, I moonlight as a face-painting clown from time to time hah!) and love the bright pink cheeks I can create! I kinda wish it had a little more sheen to it, I prefer blush with a satin finish, but for the price I can add my own shimmer. I do wish it was a little more finely milled, in the pan it looks like chunks of powder, but it still goes on well. I don' t think I'll ever need to buy this again, since it will probably be discontinued or I won't be looking for bright pink cheeks when, in something like, 15-20 years I run out.

Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hello Flawless!

This powder looks gorgeous on. It feels so soft and smooth on your face and looks really natural if you get a good color match. Petal was the right depth of color for me, but Champagne had the right undertone. I was scared Petal would make me look super unnatural in daylight because it's really yellow and I'm peachy, so I picked up Champagne. It was a decent match, at least I was happy with it. I had 2 major problems with this. The first being I'm oily, and this caked and separated all over my t-zone after about 2 hours. It also started to get really really shiny looking, beyond normal oiliness. Secondly, I'm relatively certain it clogged my pores. I'm prone to getting clogged up, but that was another disappointment. Oh, and It's really expensive. You only get about a quarter ounce for $34.00. That's more expensive than Chanel and YSL.

Powder -Physicians Formula - organic wear powder- buff beige organics
rated 2 of 5
katrinalove 9/30/2009 11:16:00 PM

This broke me out. The finish was really pretty on my very oily skin. It didn't help keep me matte at all, which I usually look for in a powder, but for the price it was still nice. Unfortunately, it did give me little whiteheads all over my cheeks. It was returned.

Liquid -Chanel - Mat Lumiere Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
katrinalove 9/30/2009 2:29:00 PM

I only had a generously sized sample of this. It's a beautiful foundation. The finish is fantastic, truly a luminous matte, not flat, not cakey, & feels lightweight on. I didn't expect it to keep my face matte, but it did a little, I didn't have to blot for 5 hours which is about double my usual. The coverage is medium (enough to cover redness around my nose and acne scars, but not the freckle on my cheek), which is perfect for me. The only problem (mind you it is a very big problem), is that it caused cystic acne. I've never had a foundation do that. Sometimes a new product will cause little whiteheads, but sure enough, this gave me big, huge, ugly zits. About 4 the first time I wore it, and only 1 a few weeks later when I tried to wear it again. It makes me so sad, it's such a gorgeous foundation. Would be my HG if it didn't break me out. I'm tempted to buy it and blame the break out on a contaminated sample which could possibly be true. Anyway, I know everyone's skin is different, and it might not break you out. So if recovering from a couple zits doesn't sound too bad, try this. It's beautiful and worth the risk if it works for you.

Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact
rated 5 of 5
katrinalove 9/13/2009 9:12:00 PM

I adore this powder. I use it as a finishing powder with a brush (I like the extra coverage), with a sponge as a light foundation on good skin days, and as a touch up powder throughout the day. I dropped it several times and carried it in my bag constantly and the powder and compact never broke. I didn't realize how matte this kept my skin until I stopped using it, no other powder has compared. This made me look poreless, which is far from the truth, as my pores are nothing less than massive. The best thing about this powder, it never made me break out. Perfection. Unfortunately, I'm all out. It lasted me about 8 months with daily use. I've been searching for a cheaper alternative to no avail. Oh Chanel Double Perfection how I wish you were more affordable, it's your only flaw.
