Mascara -Bare Escentuals - buxom lash

This is definitely my favorite mascara of all time. I first tried it in a set of mascaras from Sephora, and this was hands down my favorite of the bunch. Packaging is standard, no complaints. I love the brush. It's one of the plastic/rubber wands that has a little bit of give, and the shape of it is wonderful. The bristles are a perfect length to reach all my lashes and I like the hourglass shape as well. It makes it easier to get the lashes on the outer corners of my eyes. I love the formula. I prefer length over volume from my mascaras, and although this gives a good amount of both I get more length from it. I'm happy using one coat to get a my-lashes-but-better look. It's also nice and dark and holds a curl well. If I'm wearing this all day, especially through exercise, I'll get some smudging under my eyes but I don't really mind. This is not designed to be a waterproof formula, and waterproof mascaras make me nervous anyways because they tend to be harder on your lashes. It's also definitely a more expensive mascara ($18) but I find that I can use a tube for more than the standard 3 months. I think I used my last tube for over 6 months until I finally felt like I needed a new one.

Bronzers -NARS - Irresistiblement

This is my favorite bronzer. Granted I have tried very few of them, but this is the perfect one for me and since finding it (when I went through a phase of needing to find "the perfect bronzer") I haven't felt the need to search for another one. It's a matte bronzer, which I prefer because it's better for contouring the face which is generally how I apply bronzer. This way I add some color and give my face a more defined shape. I like this shade for light skin; I've never understood why people think Laguna is the best for fair skintones. It looks very dark to me. Irresisteblement is much lighter and has a warmer undertone, but never looks orange. I prefer applying it in a 3E shape on my face with a larger fluffy blush brush. As all NARS products go, it's more on the expensive side but you get a good amount of product and it's very pigmented so it will take you a while to go through a pan. I also personally like the NARS packaging, so no complaints there.

Concealers -Amazing Cosmetics - Amazing Concealer
rated 5 of 5

I bought this on a recommendation from Michelle Phan from YT (as many others probably have too). I like this concealer because it's very pigmented so you only need a tiny amount, I find that it's rather tacky (it doesn't slide down your face without a primer), and it doesn't sink into fine lines nearly as much as other concealers I've tried. I searched for quite awhile for a concealer that wouldn't sink into the fine lines under my eyes (granted though I have very few of them so far). The best method I've found for applying it is to take a tiny amount on my fingertip, dab it under my eyes and pat it in under the eyes, on the inner corners, and all the way down to the bottom of my dark circles. I let it sit for a few minutes while I apply my foundation, and then smooth out any excess that has collected in the fine lines under my eyes. After one or two times of doing this while applying my other makeup, there's very little chance of it creasing throughout the day. Occasionally I will use a setting powder along the outer corners and the lowest part of my dark circles, but never right on top of the fine lines. I find that putting powder on top of fine lines accentuates them if and when concealer settles there. It is quite and expensive product, but since it's so pigmented it lasts a very long time. I use mine nearly every day and have had it for about a year. I'm nowhere near finishing it yet. The packaging is a simple squeeze tube; I have no complaints about it.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
rated 5 of 5

I've repurchased the Bare Minerals Matte foundation several times now. It's become my HG foundation for a few reasons. First, I personally prefer powder foundations since I have oily skin. This one wears well throughout the day and really does help control shine compared to other foundations I've tried. If it's a long day, especially if it's hot outside, and you don't wear a primer underneath it can look a bit uneven in fine lines by nighttime, but it usually helps if you use oil blotting sheets to soak up excess shine. I also have skin light enough that some companies don't make shades light enough for me, and I like the BM has a good selection of shades. Since it's a mineral foundation it also doesn't break me out or clog my pores. The packaging is very good; I only deducted one lipstick tube thing (idk what to call it...) because it's difficult to get out the last little bit of foundation towards the end since you can't open the container completely without having to break it. The twist cap on the sifter is a very good feature for travel. I would say this is a medium priced foundation. It's definitely more expensive than drugstore foundations, but as far as higher end brands go it's fairly cheap. I don't mind paying a bit more for a product I know does what I want it to.

Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
rated 4 of 5

This is a good basic eye cream. It provides a very good amount of moisture (original formula) and I feel that it helps decrease puffiness around my eyes from being tired. You don't have to use a lot of product to get the job done either. I really love how moisturizing it is, however as far as correcting fine lines it does nothing. Moisturizing will help prevent more lines from forming, but this is not something that will fix fine lines if that's what you're looking for. Overall I like this moisturizer and I would repurchase it although I am going to search for something that will help with fine lines next.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Sculpt [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
katilia16 1/14/2010 11:19:00 PM

This was an ok concealer. I purchased it to conceal dark circles under my eyes. While it is very full coverage, I found that after a few hours the concealer would sink into the fine lines under my eyes and make me look even more tired/old (I'm not old but accentuating fine lines makes you look older). I soon stopped using it for that reason. Now I mostly use it for a nude lip. I would repurchase this concealer because it makes a wonderful nude lip and for acne scars, etc it is a good concealer. I also like the glass jar packaging MAC uses for some of their products.

Styling Products -Farouk CHI - Chi Silk Infusion

I know that some people love this product, but I personally didn't find it very amazing. The scent is nice but a bit too strong for my taste. It was also ridiculously expensive in my opinion. I paid $13 for 2 oz. of product. It will last awhile since a little goes a very long way. The first few times I used it I actually got too much and my hair looked and felt very greasy. It made my hair very soft, but since I had the impression this was to help tame frizz I was disappointed when it did nothing for that. Overall this product disappointed me and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, especially someone who lives in a humid place.
