Fragrances -Narciso Rodriguez - Narciso Rodriguez for her
katiemetz 1/10/2006 6:05:00 PM
Ugh! I got this as a free sample from Sephora, and it was definitely not to my taste. It has a spicy-flowery-powdery scent that I did not enjoy. It did have incredibly good staying power though (which is a good thing if you enjoy the fragrance but terrible when you don't!).

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Glove Potion #9 Shea Butter Hand Cream
katiemetz 1/8/2006 1:20:00 PM
After a marathon baking session at the holidays, my hands were cracked and bleeding from tons of handwashing and dishwashing. I bought this cream to remedy the situation and it really made a difference. I would never use this during the day as it is quite greasy, but it is excellent at night with a pair of cotton socks on your hands (I don't have the special gloves). I really like the smell too (kind of smells like orange Spree candies). It's a little pricey but worth it.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Solutions Oily Skin Cleanser
katiemetz 3/9/2005 12:02:00 PM
I do not have particularly sensitive skin, but I do have oily skin. I tried this cleanser and I was less than impressed. I found it to be drying and it left my skin thirsting for some moisturizer. The packaging is also a pain, especially in the shower. I would not by this product again.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Daily Pore Cleanser
katiemetz 4/2/2004 12:23:00 PM
I have used this cleanser for a couple of years now. I think it does a very good job of removing dirt/oil/makeup from my skin. My skin doesn't feel overly dry or tight after washing. I actually like the smell of this product. I find the microbeads feel nice and massaging on the skin, but I don't think they exfoliate all that much. Overall, a good, basic daily cleanser.

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Pads
katiemetz 3/21/2004 5:42:00 AM
I think the previous reviewer said it all. Grease City! These makeup remover pads are disgustingly oily and may the Lord help you if you get any of this product in your eyes instead of on them (which is bound to happen with these messy things). It stings badly. Yes, it took off my eye makeup but so do a lot of other non-greasy, non-irritating products. Steer clear of this one!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Cleanser
katiemetz 3/21/2004 5:11:00 AM
I actually tried this product on the recommendation of a co-worker, but I should have been tipped off by the fact that her skin does not look THAT great. First of all, I had a very difficult time opening the pump initially, and the pump did not seem to work correctly thereafter (perhaps defective?). This cleanser has a pleasant, mild fragrance and a pearlized irridescence that looks pretty but that's about where my love affair ends. I found this cleanser did not lather well (better than Cetaphil but not as much as I wanted it to). Apparently it did not clean too well either, as my skin broke out with several whiteheads and a a pimple or two. Usually my skin is fairly clear despite its oily character. I was hoping to see an evening out of skin tone, but I couldn't use the product long enough to see if it lived up to this claim. Thumbs down Aveeno!

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise Gentle Eye Make Up Remover for Eyes and Lips
katiemetz 3/19/2004 11:57:00 AM
This eye make-up remover is very gentle and not at all greasy. It removes eye shadow and liner quite well, mascara not as easily. I have never had trouble with burning or irritation from this product. Basically, it gets the job done for a drugstore price! I have and will repurchase this in the future.

Moisturizers -Purpose - Purpose Intensive Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15
katiemetz 3/14/2004 11:57:00 PM
I hated this moisturizer. I originally bought it for my husband who has relatively dry skin-- he hated it and wouldn't use it. Not wanting it to go to waste, I took a stab at it. I have oily skin, and this moisturizer turned me into a grease pit and made me look shiny. It also gave me whiteheads. I felt like it didn't absorb well into the skin either. If I used it extremely sparingly it was acceptable, but I finally threw it away.

Cleansers -Estee Lauder - Splash Away
katiemetz 3/14/2004 11:45:00 PM
I received a sample of this cleanser from a friend. I have oily skin, and I found this cleanser did a nice job of removing "dirt" and makeup. It foams very nicely and rinses cleanly. I did not find this product to be overly drying. The only reason I would not purchase this product is because of the price-- I've found other products that work just as well for less.

Styling Products -KMS California - Curl-Up Curling Balm
katiemetz 3/14/2004 9:54:00 PM
I totally hated this product! I have fine wavy/curly hair and this balm did absolutely nothing for my hair. It actually flattened my hair in some spots and created frizz. My hair felt dirty and looked dull after applying this product. Oh, and did I mention that it is quite expensive (paid almost $17 at Ulta). I have discovered Beyond the Zone Noodle Head from this board...it works 100 times better for $5. Save yourself over $10 and buy Noodle Head instead.

Styling Products -Beyond The Zone - Noodle Head
katiemetz 3/14/2004 9:08:00 PM
I love Noodle Head, and I never would have discovered it if it weren't for this site! I used to be faithful to Pantene Curl Defining Mousse (also had a brief stint with KMS Curling Balm-- hated it!), but this product is so much better. I have fine wavy/curly hair, and Noodle Head creates nice curl definition without weighing down my hair. The coconut smell is nice (only lasts for a few minutes so as not to interfere with perfume), and the squeeze bottle packaging is fine. I had hoped that my hair would not be crunchy (one of my major mousse complaints)...it is slightly crunchy in spots but not as bad as with mousse. Hair also looks good the next day (I only wash my hair every other day). This has definitely become my product of choice for my curls!

Foundations -Max Factor - Colour Adapt
katiemetz 3/14/2004 8:05:00 PM
I tried this foundation after reading posts from other MUAers. I normally use Clinique Superfit in Petal which is a tad dark for me, so I decided to give this a go. I am very pleased with this product! I bought Creamy Ivory which is the lightest shade (I'm a PPP, oily skin). The color blends beautifully with no tell-tale line around the jaw or hairline. It really does change to match your skin! I would say this provided light to medium coverage, so I wouldn't recommend this if you are trying to cover up a very dark blemish or discoloration. The foundation stayed relatively matte all day despite my oily complexion (I only blotted once and I didn't even soak up that much oil!) plus it did not turn color at all. The price was quite good ($11 and some change) at CVS, and the pump package was nice. The whipped texture was a little strange but it spread easily on the skin (make sure you are exfoliated though as it will stick to any flakes you may have and "ball up"). All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase! UPDATE: I am finding that the coverage is not quite heavy enough for "bad skin days" but will still definitely use when skin's behaving fairly well.

Lip Gloss -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Gloss in Flirt
katiemetz 3/2/2004 3:35:00 PM
I am not a huge fan of this lipgloss. The texture is smooth and not too sticky, but I think the color is a bit too bright unless I blot it. I can't stand the rotting fruit smell of this gloss--very artificial. Plus, the top of the tube gets all gunked up and has to be cleaned. All in all, not too thrilled with this but I would try another color of this brand.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
katiemetz 2/18/2004 4:41:00 PM
I love these blotting sheets! They suck the oil right off your face without removing makeup as well. I take these with me everywhere--great for those with really oily skin.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Beautiful
katiemetz 2/17/2004 11:57:00 PM
I used to love this fragrance. I first received a bottle of it when I was a teenager, and I wore it on special ocassions. I continued to wear it up until a few years ago (now I am 25). It just doesn't have any appeal for me now. I feel like it's a scent for someone much older. It also doesn't help that I have a co-worker who totally overdoses on this fragrance--she's actually starting to make me dislike this former favorite!
