Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner

I like this product other than the pump. I work out often, and because of that I don't like to skip washing my hair (I have a lot of fine wavy hair with an oily scalp, for reference). I use this several times a week instead of normal shampoo and conditioner, and it really makes my hair look and feel great. I prefer it to regular co-washing because I can actually blow dry my bangs after using this without them looking like a greasy mess. I have and will continue to repurchase.

I am really surprised at how well this actually works. I was planning on doing another round of white strips, but then I saw this and bought it because it was $4 compared to $25 for strips. It does take longer, but after about 2 weeks I can really see a difference! Right now my teeth are just as white as they would be if I used strips but without the hassle. I'm going to brush my teeth twice a day anyway so there are no extra steps. I also like that this whitens all over, as opposed to just where a strip is. I had low expectations, but this stuff has really impressed me.

Palettes -Coastal Scents - 26 Shadow Blush Combo Palette

I know this is cheap but I am completely disappointed in the quality of the shadows. They do not blend well, and at my skill level I really need forgiving shadows. I rarely use this: one of the browns I use to fill in my brows, and I like the lightest blush. Other than that this thing just takes up space. I'm hoping I get more use out of this now that I have discovered Paula Dorf Transformer and can turn a lot of these into liners. The colors are great for my green eyes, but are a pain to use. I'm crossing my fingers for some great liners.

Eyeliner -Paula Dorf - Eye and Lip enhancer - baby eyes
rated 5 of 5

Once upon a time I used white eyeliner on my lower waterline. It gets red with lack of sleep, and who actually gets enough sleep? Realizing that a bright white stripe looks just as bad as the red, I stopped using it. But this eyeliner covers the red and looks natural. A staple for me, because I still never get enough sleep.

I am a liquid eyeliner enthusiast, and this has opened up a whole new world to me. I can now make eyeliners out of any shadow I want!!! $20 seems expensive, but this is like buying several dozen eyeliners and this bottle could be considered a lifetime supply. You need less than half a drop for both eyes. It really does wear well, no smudging or fading, and you can get an intense line or a soft line depending on application. All in all, if you like liquid or gel liners, get this stuff. It is awesome.

Conditioner -Garnier - Triple Nutrition Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 10/9/2009 7:51:00 PM

This conditioner amazes me. It has officially knocked off Terax Crema as my favorite conditioner, and it is so cheap! I have fine wavy hair, but a lot of it. It is color treated and I'm in the process of growing it out. It tends to be dry on the ends and breaks easily, but this conditioner has helped immensely. It leaves my hair super soft and shiny, but the biggest thing is that I have consistently good hair days when I do blowouts, and that is a rare feat. I bought this because I was sick of spending $40 on a bottle of conditioner and saw that this one contains palm oil (apparently one of the oils that is able to penetrate hair). Great buy and will be trying the shampoo when my current one runs out.

Lipstick -Max Factor - Vivid Impact Lipcolor- new for Jan. '09 (all shades) ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 4/10/2009 10:44:00 PM

These lipsticks are amazing. They are very pigmented, non drying, last a long time and are so cheap! I like them a lot better than my high end lipsticks (mostly MAC and Lancome). I have Ms. Right Now (40) and Ms. Understood (16) which are both bold colors, but they don't bleed and last through eating and drinking, AND they wear down evenly. I don't even use a lipliner. I picked them up at Walmart and there was a discontinued sticker on the display, so get them while you can.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant
rated 4 of 5
katie_alti 4/6/2009 5:06:00 PM

I ordered the reformuated version of the lotion last week, and while it is noticably thicker I don't have any problems with it rubbing in or or leaving a white cast. Even worn under my sunscreen and makeup there are no issues. Maybe I wasn't all that attached to the old formula, I went through several samples but did not use an entire bottle. It has been keeping my skin clear and soft, and i will continue to use it.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
katie_alti 3/9/2009 2:27:00 PM

I bought this expecting it to be my daily mascara, something to put on for work to look natural. To my surprise this mascara makes my lashes look like falsies. My SO, friends, even strangers have made comments on my lashes. I think the reason is the mascara's uncanny ability to hold a curl. I have long lashes but they grow downward. This is the first mascara that actually holds the curl for me as it is immediately after using the lash curler. All other mascaras eventually droop, but this one keeps them standing tall. Plus it does add a decent amount of length. The combination of the curl and added length are incredible. It doesn't clump, either. Edit 3/27: The more I use this the more I wish it added some volume. I layer a volumizing mascara over it for a dramatic look. But this still ca't be beat for how well it adds a curl.

Lipstick -Lipstick Queen - Medieval
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 3/9/2009 1:12:00 PM

Finally got to Barney's to test out this product, and it lived up to my high expectations. It is very smooth and balm-like, moisturizing, and wears down very evenly to a nice stain. As for the color I do get pink in this, but it looks great. I am pale with pale lips so the color payoff is pretty good and layering increases the intensity. I love that there is no smell or taste to this product, and will certainly be purchasing many other products from this line. Comparing to Black Honey directly, there is a little more slip to this lippy, it lasts a bit longer, but the color on me is brighter. Black honey is more muted honey plum, while this is sheer wine with some pink. I will wear both, but Medieval wins out between the two.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 12/14/2008 1:49:00 PM

Not HG status, but a terrific foundation. One of the best that I have used. Color is a perfect match, the foundation lasts and gives a flawless finish. Like some other reviewers, I think application is key. A foundation brush in necessary for me to get the flawless skin look. I don't use a primer, just a little bit of Clinique's Pore Minimizer on my t zone. However, I am now interested in trying out one of the primers in this line. I also use the Coastal Scents Silica powder to set (exact same as the MUFE HD powder, but $4). I like this much better than using a non silica powder to set. The only think keeping this product at a four is the fact the I break out if I don't use an oil cleanser to remove it. I don't like the extra step, and for that reason this is not my every day foundation. I use this on weekends or when I go out at night. Edit 3/27: I actually don't need an oil cleanser, something else must have been breaking me out. This has been updated to HG. I realized this when I lost my makeup bag in a cab. ALL of my best makeup gone. Out of all of my stuff, this is one of the first things I repurchased. Made me realize just how much I need it.

Masks -Peter Thomas Roth - Sulfur Cooling Masque
rated 4 of 5
katie_alti 12/14/2008 1:39:00 PM

I don't remember to use this as a mask regularly, but this stuff is the best spot treatment. Put a dab on a zit overnight and it is gone. It is expensive, but it does last a long time. Even my SO, who normally would NEVER use any of my products, swears by this stuff. I'm going to try to remember to use regularly as a mask with the hope that it helps with blackheads. Maybe I'll update.

Treatments (Eye) -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - de-puff eye gel
rated 4 of 5

I really like this gel, and find it very effective at depuffing my under eye area in the mornings. I also like the cooling effect it has. And for $20, this tube lasts over a year for me making it a bargain. I have used this for about 3 years, and have yet to find anything I like better. I've never has sensitivity issues and concealer allplies nicely over it. I've tried formulas from DDF, Clinique, Benefit, 100% Pure, Mario Bedescu and none have worked remotely as well as this does.

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Bronze Green 5L
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 12/7/2008 1:53:00 PM

I have avoided pencil liners for years because I hate how they apply and their lack of staying power on my oily lids. I prefer the smoother application and lasting power of powder and cream liners, and liquid for nights out. I've wanted an olive liner for a while and decided to give this a try in Sephora. By far the best pencil liner I've ever tried. It applies like a dream, no tugging at all. It also starys put all day. The color is gorgeous. Not much I can add to the other reviews. This liner is great. This pencil has won me over.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Lift Concealer
rated 5 of 5
katie_alti 10/30/2008 11:55:00 AM

This is the best undereye concealer I have tried thus far. It is a thin formula with buildable coverage. It blends very well, and doesn't settle into lines. I don't necessarily want a concealer to completely mask dark cirles, I want natural coverage and to look awake and alert. This fits the bill. It looks natural and brightens the under eye area. Can't ask for more in a concealer, and it isn't all that expensive given the size of the tube.
